If it’s anything like rune’s of balthazar(which I use to burn people when I hide in shadows), the chill radius will be generous.

Trust me, you’ll want multiple ways to apply chill when there’s a cooldown attached to the sigil. Runes of Grenth seem the way. I wonder what the interaction is with medkit since the aoe chill has a 10 second cooldown? Maybe just toggle the kit really fast to chill in an aoe? That’d be awesome.

Throw Junk is one of the best forms of applying chill, as weird as that sounds. I like it as it is.

That being said, The #3 skill is a Blowout, not a knockback. Making it the #2 would mean you have to give up something. I’d rather not, since I like the blowout.

Instead, why not change the #2? Instead of a grapple line, make it a skill that moves the engineer when on the ground(as that gives you the most lifespan to survive to your 3). Make it like rocket boots maybe, where it’ll damage enemies near you and blast you far away from the enemies, opposite the direction you are facing(or targeted if you target someone). This’d get you away from the others trying to stomp you and buy you time to get to your #3, while also maybe allowing you to use the self-knockback intelligently.

Maybe you’d even be able to self knockback yourself through the keep doors in WvW! That’d be pretty cool and rewarding if you could set that up.

Better find another way to apply chill during the 10 second cooldown of the Sigil of Ice, or else the 3-4 seconds of chill will not be worth it when they just remove it.

Maybe use 6 runes of grenth for a chill on hit and an aoe chill when you heal? People love hitting engies and you’ll have to heal often enough as it is.

I find this happening to me ALL THE TIME.

I can replicate it. Basically, run past the item and hit F JUST as you are on the edge of the item’s ‘Hit F’ range. You will lose control for ~1.5 seconds and keep running. Nothing you do will break the autorun animation in that ~1.5 second time.

My theory: You autoran out of the ‘Hit F’ range but were in range to activate it anyway. You invisibly try to pick it up but don’t show that pickup animation, and just keep autorunning instead until the invisible animation is done. You end up with nothing picked up, and are that much further away from what you tried to pick up.

This has resulted in MANY dungeon problems with me, and it happens even when not autorunning. Autorun, however, is the most reliable way to replicate it.

The fact that it locks you into the run animation while it does that invisible pick-up animation and you can’t do anything is what really bothers me.

Meh, I feel they should up the limit from 5 to 8. This would be able to counter parties that rely on necro minions and ranger pets to specifically counter AoE damage when they stack up, while still not allowing 5-mans to destroy a zerg with an AoE spike(But do 60% more AoE damage thanks to the 3 extra targets).

8 is used because spvp uses 8v8s in non-tournament games. A good example of why 8 isn’t arbitrary and would be useful.

Just an FYI to where I am at least… due to differing views with my guild leader, I have quit [KAIN] near reset to return to my original guild, [BBT]. Internal politics with [KAIN] may be causing some issues with them right now. Maybe the other guilds too.

I, however, will continue to WvW and remain on Kaineng until the end. That’s why I came here from Darkhaven, after all. In all my time on Kaineng, I have learned that it’s not for the weak. You either can make the cut in Kaineng, or you can’t. You can either survive the map chat criticism or you can’t.

It’s kind of like a place where we don’t accept outsiders easily. You don’t feel at home unless you fit in. But when you do, you don’t feel at home ANYWHERE but Kaineng.

Before 7 day transfers I went to Ferg for a day to do map completion. It was a fine server, they had numbers, and I even turned on my commander symbol and took EB(When they were green). It wasn’t my type of community, however. It didn’t have that comforting bitterness or in-fighting or squabbling or enemy trash-talking that you come to love for some reason. It’s hard to explain.

When you love Kaineng, you understand you play less for the individual achievement out there, and more for the whole. You play to make achievements for Kaineng, the server, not just yourself.

And on Kaineng, the best way to gain recognition on a server like this, I found, is not to brag about the past, because Kaineng doesn’t live in the past. We live in the present. Lead by example, and recognition will follow. That’s why I find so many people don’t succeed on Kaineng and end up leaving, because they speak out before they finish their achievements(even though they may be well meant). Kaineng never took well to bragging unless it’s their own achievements, and even then it was split unless it was well earned and truly deserved to be bragged. Even I’ve exploded a few times due to hecklers, but you must have a spine of steel to survive on this server’s WvW for any extended time.

Kaineng. It’s more than just a server. It’s a way of WvW life. And we will prevail, because until you make the score 500k to 10k, you didn’t break the true spirit of Kaineng.

Spike unsuspecting targets with Shadow Strike > Steal(Mug) > Shadow Strike.

Funny when it works, since Shadow Strike hits decently. I think it does need something else.

Also, the D/P Shadow Shot is also a little meh. Speed up that projectile to headshot speed and you got yourself a deal on that one as well.

Cluster Bomb on Short Bow already has 1200 range. And it’s a nice-sized AoE(which means it’s a bit larger in true range).

I don’t need a 1200 range weapon. Short Bow is already my 1200 range weapon thanks to Cluster Bomb. And since it’s fueled by initiative and not cooldown, and only costs 3 initiative, I can fire it pretty often even when running on empty.

We do not need a 1200 range weapon while Cluster Bomb has 1200 range. Believe me.

The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy, but they’re less of an enemy than my other enemy. I’ll give them a shout out.

Ferguson’s Crossing has a lot of those Havoc Squad’s that you desire. Yes, it’s Tier 8, but it has them more than the other servers in the tier.

Oh man, this tier has NO idea what they’re in for from the two transfer guilds.

Every server has their superstars between DR, Ferg, and Kain. The people that you KNOW make the difference on the battlefield, like them or not. They don’t even have to be a commander, but you know that when they are around, they make a difference.

In Tier 8, it’s not about the guilds, it’s about these superstars being on the field. That is how this war is won in tier 8.

These superstars bring differing things to Tier 8. It could be tactics that belong in a tier to themselves, inspiration that can’t be matched by world leaders, or just raw killing power that is feared by the enemy. It could be siege placement or usage that trumps the general competition, or just being able to think outside of the box in general that leads your server to victory.

Every server’s superstars bring unique and awesome things to WvW when they are on the battlefield. When they are missing, the server feels like something is missing. This, however, paves way for new stars to possibly rise up, because it is about being a superstar… being the legit hero of heroes… that this tier gets won.

Shout out to all three servers and their superstars. The true unsung heroes of Tier 8.

You left Kaineng too mate, and this was WAY before there were many commanders(Even before I had commander). You were one of those few commanders that left back then.

Don’t go vilifying people before you remember history.

And kitten right I’m nostalgic about Cliffside. It builds character when you’re able to look death into the eye and charge straight at it.

Smiley, it’s more like the other way around. When WE take a break, the stuff hits the fan. There is nobody to fill OUR void.

Am I, and my fellow colleges, criminals for not WvWing this week as hardcore as the week before? Putting in work-like hours into a GAME in order to compete with other servers that do NOT do the same is NOT fun, and you guys may have had a blast the prior week, but we did not, even though the score was nearly even. It was NOT fun keeping our borderland blue and putting in work-hour shifts into a video game.

But when we did, we conquered. Even when War/iSpy failed in EB and the EBers came at our Borderland because it was all green last week, we prevailed. But was it fun? No. Did we succeed on our end of protecting the borderland though? Yes.

But like hell I’m gonna do that again for other people who don’t put in the same effort. And luckily the bandwagoners are leaving, so it’ll go back to the old Kaineng I miss from days past.

I can’t wait to become red again.

Dawn’s Eyrie is NOT Cliffside.

PvE break too stronk if that’s all it takes to crumble a server. But that also just re-confirms that there’s nobody to fill the void of those taking the PvE break… AKA we have such little population willing to take a leadership role.

I don’t blame the others moving to Ferg. They just want easy kills picking on Kaineng with more numbers while not being Devona. Who doesn’t want that luxury?

Server Transfers are like the Konami Code of GW2 in Kaineng’s case; it’s easier regardless where you go. But I came here for that challenge. I can’t wait until next week or so when I get bored of PvE and go back to WvW.

PS: Let nothing fool you about WvW rankings, Kaineng has and always will have the lowest population. If anything, Eredon Terrace even has a lower pop than Ferg. I went to Ferg for map completion before [np] transfered, and they had more people than Kaineng even back then.

Kaineng – The Hard Mode of WvW. When it really is YOU that is going to make the difference, and not the others. If it’s meant to be, it’s up to ME.

I refuse to put in the time like I did last week ever again. KBL needs 24 hour baby-sitting and I’m not going to do 12-16 hours of it a day.

If all it takes is for KAIN to not be in the borderland for it to be green, then what the hell is the point of WvW?

I didn’t even fight in the borderland at the reset. I decided with many others not to even step foot in there at reset. Some of my guild may still go in there, but the majority of us who did all the major defending of our borderland last week will NOT be going in there this week.

I don’t need to prove to you the difference we make. Last week should show you what KAIN can do in the borderlands. And this week will show you what happens when we’re not.

I hope Devona trounces Ferg’s stuff this week. They waltzed into our borderland too every now and then acting like they could own the place. They need to be put in place. And if not? Well, then that’s fear on Ferg’s part to go to any map other than their borderland(as I can see EB is all green), or once again, blind hatred on Dev’s part.

I was in my own borderland for a week. I pulled 12-16 hour WvW shifts.

Don’t tell me nonstop attacks are not blind hatred, even when your own borderland is turning red when you’re making zero ground in our borderland.

I learned a LOT about each server’s mentality by staying in one borderland and making a difference, and observing who attacks and when. And even learned a lot about many of the guild’s mentalities and playstyles, and even some of the players.

There is blind hatred among Devona towards Kaineng, and there is blind hatred among Kaineng towards Devona. The difference is that Devona has the population to bully Kaineng into the defensive nonstop. And last week we DESTROYED you all in our borderland because we were united.

Towards the end of the week people didn’t keep up their end for one reason or another, and left the dedicate people to deal with the horde. There is not enough people on Kaineng to deal with your horde’s blind hatred. We could never mount an offensive against your borderland unless ours is either all blue or all green, and even then that means that we don’t have people somewhere else.

I can’t remember a time Kaineng bullied your borderland into submission like you do to ours on a daily basis. And when there is an attack, it never lasts long because it was an organized guild attack. You have PUGS that regularly attack our borderland because that’s how popular it is to attack Kaineng.

Even when everything was fully upgraded last week, you still tried to take everything and allowed Ferg to stroll into your borderland and take your stuff uncontested as you pushed your hardest to take our keeps. If that’s not blind hatred, I don’t know what is.

Some of us decided to no longer defend our borderland like last week. Or even defend at all.

Last week [KAIN] and other guilds poured their heart and soul into the defense early in the week. But by the end of the week, it really felt like it was only KAIN directing and upgrading everything. And if we even let our eyes look away for 5 minutes, the DR horde would take it.

Hell, 8 of us did the EB jump puzzle for 10 minutes. TEN MINUTES when our borderlands was blue. The Bay Keep was taken before we finished. And I know we could have prevented that if we were there, but if it takes KAIN’s presence to make that much of a difference, then it doesn’t matter anymore.

Countless times last week, we tried to do dungeons, but quit mid-way because we KNEW that if we didn’t go, we’d lose a keep. We didn’t lose Garrison until Thursday, when it was apparently taken when there was only 3 defenders online. We kept that keep locked down since reset. Bay Keep was lost Wednesday for the first time since reset because we went to the jump puzzle. Hills was lost Tuesday. I literally went to class and it was ours, came back and it wasn’t.

All keeps were lost when our people were not there. And I am not going through that stress again. And many others in KAIN will agree with me.

Last week I learned just how much Devona will throw at our Borderland to try and take everything. Devona literally HATES us. They would rather continue to attack us than defend their own Borderland from attackers. That’s how much their hatred is of us.

And you know what? I’m not going to deal with it anymore. Not my problem. Not my guild’s problem. You want our borderland? Fine, take it. Go make it green and pretty and whatever. Hell, why not sprinkle some red in there with LARP helping you anyway since they went to Ferg and want to break everything of ours when you’re attacking our points.

I’m not dealing with it anymore. Find somebody else defend your attack. I might attack your stuff to reset all your upgrades like you did to us nonstop though.

The entire Devona/Kaineng/Ferguson tier is one big rivalry at this rate. I couldn’t pick one guild without disrespecting the others.

And we all know each other real well after so many weeks.

Moving is out of the option. This is why we need people to come to Kaineng.

Kaineng has a deep history that touches the hearts of many of its players who were there since its birth(or close to it). It is a place that flows with server pride that you’d be hard pressed to see elsewhere other than from guilds that also have never transferred since launch. Except instead of one guild, it’s the entire server since we were a transfer server opened 2 weeks after launch, and went through many WvW hardships that brought us all closer together as a server. One united Kaineng.

We may be united, but our numbers are small. The more we add to our family, the stronger we become. Kaineng can take on the world if people come and join us.

Will you answer the call? Will you be the beacon of hope that saves Kaineng from the green tide? As I have personally learned, even one man can make a difference.

Make that difference. Choose Kaineng today.

Hey DR, next time you try to PvDoor Dawn’s Eyrie, don’t do it when I set up Superior Siege. Doesn’t look good for ya.

Here’s a stealth tip:

Shoot cluster bombs into your Smoke Screen combo field to make AoE stealth blast finishers, sStacking AoE stealth as long as you don’t hit an enemy. Also, if you trait to get 2 initiative back on stealth, the Cluster Bomb shot costs 1 Initiative.

Fun fact: Two thieves doing this smoke screen trick wisely with Shadow Refuge and Blinding Powder can keep a Dolyak invis permanently.

I used to do the Valkyrie hidden killer build. Was fun, but Vitality isn’t the best stat for a Thief. I wanted more toughness.

Knight’s is a good combination for getting some durability with Toughness. Emerald Jewelry gets that. To get health, trait into Acrobatics(15-20 points is always a fantastic investment). For more, pick runes with Vitality. I do not find any of the current gear with Vitality other than Soldier to be worth it, but that’d cut your burst down a lot.

You can never go wrong with Runes of Divinity for your Thief. That’d add more Toughness and Vitality while still giving you all the stats you need for bursting.

I use Whisper Leggings on my Thief. Only piece of Whispers armor I still use. Looks neat and trim compared to 90% of the other leggings.

Some classes you HAVE to finish. Some you don’t have to and can beat them to death.

Other times it changes based on the battle situation.

1. I’ve seen when someone lags way out of sync with the server. Take out a ranged weapon and shoot at them to see where their ‘server’ body is as opposed to what you see. I don’t know if it’s done on purpose or because they have third world internet.

#2, I’ve never seen yet.

Why did you go on the defensive and ball up? Go on the offensive.

Immobilize, knockback, stun, or go all out and just Moa Morph him. What’s he gonna do as a Moa against an army? Die, that’s what.

Being defensive, you deserve to get trolled like that. Those who go on the offensive when I troll their point take me out the fastest.

That being said culling is the issue, not the thief.

It’ll only grant Regen if you don’t have the Regen boon already.

It may be bugged, or it may be working properly. If it worked how you want it to work, it’d grant regen with every tick of Shadow Refuge, and we’d get 25 seconds of Regen(Since it stealths you once a second for 5 seconds).

My Thief cried at first when DD got nerfed.

But it really needed it, and I still use Dancing Dagger.

Compare the damage of Dancing Dagger to Headshot and Black Powder(Pistol Offhand). Stupidly high compared to it, even after the nerf. I still use Dancing Dagger for damage when there’s two enemies next to each other, but now I don’t just spam it even against a solo enemy like I used to.

The damage of Dancing Dagger was the same as phase 2 Heartseeker. It needed the nerf for that kind of damage at ranged that can cripple AND bounce.

I actually think it’s good where it is right now. Compared to the damage Pistol offhand does, it’s still way better. And it’s still great to use when two targets are next to each other. It should not be a major damage source, but a utility. Pistol Offhand is a great example of what utility is, and dagger offhand is getting close to it.

Dagger offhand is still my go-to choice. Pistol offhand’s utility is good like Dagger offhand, but the damage doesn’t come close to what dagger offhand offers. Pistol Offhand is too much effort for too little gain compared to Dagger Offhand(And this is after the DD nerf).

CnD is next for a nerf on damage. It’s gotta happen to keep it in check. It’s too good.

I want to point one thing out with Cloak and Dagger.

Even when stealth gets fixed, a thief who times his CnD just right will still nearly permastealth all the time. The only difference that SHOULD happen is that you should be able to see the cloak particle effects when culling gets fixed when you chain CnD properly.

I’ve got a lot of time on my thief and a lot of time stopping captures, so I have the timing down to the T for all my stealths. I play right now with the mindset that culling doesn’t exist, because someday it won’t.

And when it doesn’t exist anymore, this Thief right here will be your worst nightmare.

We shut you down at your keep siege of Etheron Hills with our party of three (plus a one or two random zerglings) but you more than got revenge on us at Bluelake. We had fewer numbers but we simply couldn’t get it together to kick you guys out. Fully shut us down strategically, Bravo. We won’t be so easy to split up next time, be sure of that. Did Draygo have a hand in that one?

One of our [KAIN] officers got the ball rolling on it and kept it moving. I only jumped into it late but I was there for a while. I Am Karma is his name, he deserves the credit.

We only just lost Bluelake just now too due to not enough defenders. Oh well, life moves on.

One person in the party specializing in conditions is great!

But more than one specialized condition build and it doesn’t add much.

25 stacks of bleed is fine for the 5-man party, imo. It gets awkward when world events come into play. That in itself is a whole different discussion though.

Seeing as I have over 800 hours on my own Thief, no.

It’s culling. You abuse it unknowingly. I abuse it unknowingly. It’s a fact. I even get accused of Alt+F4ing when I juke people with stealth because of culling, and I’ve seen others accuse thieves and mesmers of the same when it’s just culling getting in the way.

And I bet you neglected to mention the 3000+ armor on your Ele, right? Oh, full berserker? Not buying it, he dies in two hits then. Mist Form doesn’t count for how long you can survive, either.

I’ll bring up each skill that culls you if you want.

Culling.

If they fix it in WvW, you won’t live on your Mesmer half as long as you do now. I guarantee it.

There is also a weird practice of some guilds hopping to low tier servers from high tier servers.

Fine overall, but when they transfer back into the tier when the server ranks out, something is awkward.

1 guard used 6 carts eh? lmao. And you’re on Devona… You’re the ferg/dev/kain match. At no point in time has devona been outmanned in over a month. Also… after second gate, the champ lord that aoe blasts people for 10k-20k dmg. Doesn’t exactly count as a normal fight to begin with.

Uh, actually I’m on Kaineng, and it was 40 Fergs we 10 carted down at Etheron Hills. Before crossing the bridge into the lord’s room even.

It was the most epic moment ever for our little band because we didn’t expect that guardian to do that. We just expected to die.

Get your Omega out of our Garrison, Ferg. I have no more honor code while Devona is here.
