Davey, check if you’re Master Volume is too low. Might be a different issue if there’s no sound at all, though.
I can confirm that the quiet cutscenes are a problem with master volume.
I had master volume at max, and During the Pale Tree vision cutscene I opened the sound settings, lowered master volume to 20%, then increased my speaker volume to compensate until it sounded about the same level as before. After the cutscene ended, all other sounds were much louder than normal.
Master volume is definitely affecting cutscenes more than any other sounds.
Thanks snowgim, I will try that!
I can’t get addicted to this game. It just doesn’t work for me. There aren’t many long-term goals except for maybe building a legendary, which I don’t really care to.
For me it’s more about having fun doing WvW or SPvP and the ocasional dungeon, while doing other things on the side like achievements and map exploration.
I say PvErs in this game have it worse. Eight dungeons plus Fractals is not what I would consider replayable. In a month or two you can run all dungeon paths at least twice which leaves you with nothing to do, unless you enjoy repeating the same dungeons over and over. World bosses are nice but they don’t really fight back. At least with PvP it always feels different because you’re playing against people, not AI.
Kind of a pointless feature in my view. If I wanted a housing system, I wouldn’t play a game like Guild Wars 2. Plus, it serves no actual purpose and has no replay value. Sure, you might spend a couple of hours decorating it, and then? There goes one year of development for a feature most people won’t use or forget it even exists.
Maybe if they managed to incorporate houses in the actual world it would be fun but there would be no reason to visit them except for roleplay reasons. And then, I don’t see many roleplayers nowadays…
Let’s not forget that the real game would be outside of your house: WvW, Dungeons, PvP, Exploration, Jumping puzzles… We already have something called Home Instances, and I rarely see people visiting them.
In survival games it make sense. It serves as shelter and a place to hide from enemies, but in Guild Wars 2? Pointless.

I dont have sound in any of the Living story cinematics. Not sure what is going on too.
Portal at #9 ugh… you sure this isn’t 100 most overrated games of all time?
Portal is OK, although Portal 2 is a lot better.
Anyway this is just a list. Lists are always subjective.
Shatterer needs to be dangerous. Right now it feels like i’m hitting a log of wood, and that’s how most world bosses make me feel too. Just target dummies. And that’s really sad because most look very impressive.

New players can still play WvW and PvP, only their icons at the top of the screen will be locked.
If their icons will be locked, it means they can’t click them right? If they can’t click them, they can’t join WvW or PvP.
I don’t understand all these new locked features… Are they trying to make the game grindy or what? The leveling system is perfect as it is right now, and the personal story is one of the most exciting parts of the game.
Why lock it only for level 10 characters? Why lock SPvP and WvW to new players? What’s the point? The first thing I did as soon as I installed the game was to join SPvP and EoTM, and that was really fun for me.
I enjoy pretty much all the the game has to offer, but I know people who only strictly play WvW or PvP, and only bought the game to play these game modes. For new players this new feature pack will limit their experience.
(edited by Davey.7029)
It could work as long as the survey is optional and non intrusive and you only have to do it once after you complete it.
I see some people talking about WoW, but you don’t even have to go that far. Just play SPvP and you will see it’s not a good idea. A lot of people can’t keep their mouth shut after you kill them and tend to whisper you with insults and all kinds of nonsense to make themselves feel better.
Do you really want to deal with that on WvW? I know I don’t.
Maybe with a quantum computer this would be possible, lol.
I think the reason why we have loading screens and instances is because the hardware isn’t there yet. Sure, some singleplayer games are almost fully open word (like Skyrim), but I don’t think it’s possible to do this with MMO’s at this moment.

I only started playing like 4 months ago so I never had the chance to play SAB. I heard many wonderful things about it and it looked interesting from what I saw in the trailer.
Hopefully some day I will have the chance to play it. Makes no sense to spend resources creating these events like SAB, Halloween and Dragon bash and never put them back in the game again for old and new players to enjoy.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Thanks for sharing, it is indeed useful!
Well, I only started playing 4 months ago but so far I have to say I’m enjoying the LS. However, I had most fun during the events: The festival of the four winds and The Queen’s gauntlet.
I would love to see more updates for PvE, PvP and WvW like a lot of people here, but so far I’m happy we’re getting new content every two weeks.
Yes, it’s fair.
You don’t get it, gear is just a tool, if you don’t know the boss tactics or when to dodge, gear won’t help you at all.
Plus, why does it matter if they can get armor/weapon skins by doing PvP ? It’s not like they are super unique to start with.
Well, the good news is you don’t have to look at the front of your character much. The bad news is I wouldn’t expect to see a fix for this anytime soon, or ever.
Well, that is really bad news then.
I don’t think this will cause any unbalance issues, since people can already do this if they want. The thing is, dual spec would make it a lot more convenient.
It would be a lot easier to just click on button to change to your second build instead of having to click every single piece of equipment, plus changing your traits and skills (rangers also have to change their pets). It would save you a lot of time and let’s not forget about inventory space. Some people actually carry 3 sets of gear, so I’m sure it can get very confusing at times.
I think it would be beneficial to everyone really, and if you’re worried about WvW then it would be very easy to just add a 1 or 2 minute cooldown and an out of combat restriction.
Hello. So, I was happy to find a good looking hood for my male sylvari but I was quickly disappointed. The item (Subterfuge Hood) has clipping issues on my character. It looks like the hood has two small cuts on each side and it is very noticable if I dye it with light colours. With dark colours it’s not as noticeable, but obviously the problem is still there.
About the screenshot:
When I took the screenshots my graphical settings were set to low as you can see but the issue still persists if I switch them to high.
The hair style is included in the screenshot since I couldn’t find the name of it when I went to the character customization panel.
Thanks.

+1, Dual spec would be great.
I think what the game really needs is more fun and challenging content. We need more boss fights/encounters like the Thaumanova Anomaly, the Weapons Test Engineer, the Legendary Clockheart boss in Aetherpath or Lupicus.
They don’t have to be super hard, but they could be more interesting.
You know, I look at all these world bosses that Arena net spent so much time designing and I just think how sad it is that incredible bosses like the Shatterer die in a blink of an eye. You don’t even have to move, you just stand near the zerg and press 1. Besides Tequatl and the Triple Wurms, there really is no challenge in them.
New bosses/dungeons/events/Living Story episodes or anything really that is challenging and interesting would be good. Something new besides the same old content where you just stack on top of stuff and and auto attack to win. That is so BORING!
The good news is I think the game is heading in that direction. The “resident evil” wolves from this new episode are quite challenging and actually have interesting mechanics, and the same goes for the haunted statue boss. I have to say I enjoyed quite a lot the Queen’s gaunlet bosses where I actually had to change my build around to defeat them. It didn’t have any gear rewards or anything like that, but I personally enjoyed it. I hope we will get that kind of content again in the future.

Would be nice if we could write short notes for each Friend too, to let us know just who the person is and/or how we met them. XD (e.g. Fractals buddy, PvP team)
You can do that.
Performing a successful dodge in Guild Wars 2 is always very rewarding but besides that you’re just alt-tabbing and watching character animations like in many other MMO’s. It doesn’t have as much impact as in other games like Batman Arkham Asylum and you never have have to aim any of your skills either (unless it’s an AoE).
Every time i see a staff ele i force myself not to vote kick it from a dungeon, instead i grind my teeth and watch it how he/she spams fireballs with no attument switch ever and then die max range from all of us. Then i don’t res him/her the whole run because f you start using dodge and stop checking your facebook.
I do the same from above when a necro is in a group. Or a ranger. Because max range-spamming 1 rocks.
If people prefer to play with ranged weapons, what’s the problem? Do you want everyone to play Warrior/guardian like you? That would make the game extremely boring, don’t you think? Yes, the meta generally works, but there are many things outside of the meta that also work.
Maybe you should start looking at what you’re doing and let other people play the game how they want to.
Happened to me 2 times in the last 2 days. If you’re unlucky enough to fall or to have someone else on your team fall with the hammer, you might as well say goodbye to everyone and disband the group. The hammer doesn’t respawn anywhere on the fractal.
It seems to be fixed now. I got it on first try solo. Thank you Anet!
I’m not sure if the OP is just a troll or he’s totally ignorant about the situation with WvW in Underworld.
Ah feels….
Well, I have solution for you: play the game mode. It’s really that simple
There is no server that will have all borderlands captured all the time. If you missed that occasion, then all you have to do is play more and eventually you will get your legendary. Afterall, they’re called legendaries for a reason.
I’m not sure if the OP is just a troll or he’s totally ignorant about the situation with WvW in Underworld. Yes, we had a lot of people transfering out of our server and that’s the biggest reason why we are where we are (don’t ask me any more details, I just started playing 3 months ago so that’s all I know), but we have been trying to do something about it and we have some very dedicated players. If you think that all the terrible players magically joined Underworld and all the best players joined SFR, desolation or whatever, then I don’t know what to tell you…
For the past 3-4 days we have been dominating our oponents almost to the point where we basically painted their BLs and EB red. So, if you did miss that occasion, it’s your fault. Not trying to be offensive or anything, but we did capture pretty much everything on WSR BL at one point.
If you really want that Map completion, just play WvW, and eventually you will get it. Form a group with people who have the same interests as you, that’s what I did in other MMO’s when I wanted to get certain achievements.
And like someone here said, try to have fun while you do it. There are things you can do in WvW that doesn’t involve actual PvP (if that’s what you’re trying to avoid), like trebbing Keeps/towers, capturing mercenary camps and supply camps, or just simply scouting.
If you want your map completion, help us and you will get it, simple as that… But don’t be selfish or arrogant.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Hey, thank you very much for your answer!
What are some good runes and sigils for power wellomancer builds?
Rune of strength looks good but it’s so expensive right now, and I’m not sure it is the absolutely best option.
There are also many good options for sigils, so I’m not sure what to get.
What do you guys use?
Thank you!
It’s not that difficult to get WvW map completion. I got it under a week. You just have to play the game and don’t be annoying in the team chat by trying to force others to capture a certain keep/tower.
Don’t be selfish because nobody cares about your map completion. People just want to play the game without someone spamming on map chat on how he wants to capture X Keep. These are the same people who will go back to PvE and never go back to WvW. Just play the game and you will eventually get your map completion, but you have to be patient. Try to have fun meanwhile.
Like people here said earlier, during the night it’s a lot easier to capture towers and keeps, just get a good group going and you’re done.

Hello!
I have a few questions regarding WvW Zerg Necro builds:
1) Power or Condition damage? Which one do you recommend?
2) What type of gear set? Berserker? Rabid? Dire? Or any others?
3 )What weapons should I be using on WvW? Staff for zergs seems to be the norm but what about roaming/weapon swap?
Thank you!
(edited by Davey.7029)
I didn’t let any of the NPCs die, I talked to them and the achievement failed.
It’s still bugged.
Hey guys, I have a question.
How many points does my world get when I kill an enemy sentry or dolyak in WvW ?
Thanks!
Guild Wars 2 has a relatively friendly community compared to other online games, but even then, the LFG system is still a total mess with players randomly kicking other players at the final boss, party leaders just randomly leaving the dungeon while wasting everyone’s time, flamers, rage quitters, people insta-kicking rangers and necros and non-berserks, and the list goes on and on…
That’s why I always start my own groups, and you should do the same. Trust me, you don’t want to join these ‘40K AP only’ groups. They’re never a pleasant experience unless you like to play with toxic players who will insta kick you just because they don’t like the colour of your hair and blame others when the entire group wipes.
I say get the achievement points if you like doing achievements, but don’t do them just to be able to play with all the other ‘cool kids’, because they have nothing cool about them. AP doesn’t equal to skill at all, and this comes from someone who has 4K AP but has done all the dungeons in this game including fractals. Like others have mentioned, guilds are generally great so you can run dungeons more relaxed without being afraid of someone kicking you just because you failed a dodge.
You know what really funny?
Just did my first dungeon after a long break a few days ago.
It was a CoE fullrun ‘zerk rush’, no ap requirement though.
People were around 10-15k ap and it was the most pleasant dungeon experience i’ve had to date. Everyone was nice and knew exactly what to do.
Bosses were killed in literally seconds and we cleared all three paths without any problems.
If you want to make yourself feel better by telling yourself those groups are all toxic and unfriendly, be my guest, howevery they are not and fact of the matter is: a 10k player is better than a <3k player. As someone else has stated: if you want to run dungeons for gold, you’ll be looking for experienced players and ap, as unfortunate as it is, is our only measurement of experience.
edit: never join parties wit requirements around 3-4k. those will fail,
howevery 8k+ are 99% pure steamroll.
Well my post was obviously a generalisation since not every person is the same, but in my experience in MMO’s/online games, the hardcore crowd always seems to less friendly or talkative than the casual/midde-ground players. It has to do with people feeling like they’re better than everyone else and making fun of “noobs”, but yea like I said, this doesn’t apply to every single individual.
When I want to do a speed run I just ask for lvl 80 experienced players and normally it works well. I just started playing this game like 3 or so months ago, so I know how new players feel when they look at the LFG window and only see it full of 5K AP-only groups, they feel hopeless and sad.

This might be news to you, but some people play video games for fun. Personally I find most melee classes like Warrior super boring and uninteresting.
I wish I could 2 hit people with my full dps ranger, that would be awesome lol.
Legendaries are just weapon skins, they aren’t any stronger or weaker than ascended weapons.
And about the warriors, well, warriors have always been the AFK class in any online game/MMO I’ve played. It wasn’t anything new to see almost unkillable warriors dealing 5K damage on Guild wars 2.
Class balance is always something hard to do. I say wait another week or two and hopefully there will be more profession changes.

People will keep transfering from dying worlds because there’s nobody playing WvW on them and sometimes you won’t even see anyone from the enemy team for hours either (except for the ocasional roamer). And because these worlds are generally at the bottom of the leaderboard, people will transfer out of them since they don’t see a way to climb tiers/ranks without an active and healthy WvW population. And this creates a vicious cycle of server tranfers that never ends.
Free transfers to bottom servers wouldn’t help because nobody wants to join a dying server. There’s no reason to. I say just merge the bottom servers and be done with it. I don’t think it’s an extremely hard thing to do since a lot of online games have done it before, and they’re still alive and kicking, (just look at WoW).
I imagine Anet doesn’t want to go that way because then there would be even more “THIS GAME IS DYING!!” threads on the forums and that would probably be bad for the game and the company’s image. However, most competitive games at least give you a chance of winning. On Gw2 there is no possible way for a bottom server to ever recover, unless a miracle happens and 10 guilds decide to tranfer to a dying world… Good luck with that!
(edited by Davey.7029)
Your gear progression is not “locked behind RNG”. You can get your gear just by spending dungeon tokens. What’s locked behind RNG is just the ultra rare stuff like percursors and skins. I’m not bothered by it because I know it takes a while and you’re not supposed to get a new legendary every month. It’s a long process.
I actualy wish there were more interesting things you could get from monster drops.
So far I’ve only got a few exotics that I just end up selling or salvaging for the skins. Sure, you can get ascended drops from monsters but it’s so rare that it’s a lot easier to just craft your ascended set.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Terrible idea. Fall damage traits are very useful on jumping puzzles, WvW and when you’re exploring the world.
Ok thanks guys!
Every thing you described there has a simple answer: new players, that’s it. Just gotta teach people if they don’t know what to do.
I hope you would be right but sadly not.
I really enjoy playing ranger in dungeon so I’m a bit indulgent when I see a ranger with low AP but, when i see a 10k+ AP ranger that have the listed issues, i’m totally not. Last time I kicked a ranger it was on CoE. we asked the guy to stop using LB#4 for 10 min. He had something like 12k AP and was just rolling it’s skill as soon as they were up.
Another time, i entered in a party with 2 rangers that were stacking on the corner with their LB and… using LB#4 everytime it was up. I leaved this party after the first champ. That was awfull. The guys even flamed me after because I leaved. How do you do any damage if some ranger knockback your target ad nauseum? You can’t do a thing. No fgs, no HB, nothing. With a LB ranger in your party, you are almost forced to carry a range weapon. Most of the rangers you see in game have bad habits with LB. Most of the ranger you see want to play range. And most of the ranger you see don’t have a clue on how to controle their pet.
That’s why rangers are hated. Nothing more nothing else. Oh and… the more AP point a ranger have, the less he will listen. That’s just how thing are from my experience. But, I’m sure you have many differents experiences with rangers that were great at everything?
I don’t see many rangers to be honest so I can’t comment on that lol. But hey, like I said in another post, AP has nothing to do with skill or anything. It just means you’ve spent a lot of time in the game completing achievements (doing the dailies/monthly, the living world stuff, etc…). What matters is experience. Is player A experienced in a particular dungeon? Does he run the dungeon very often? That’s what matters.
What I can say is that I’ve met players with low and high achievement points that simply don’t talk in the team chat. I don’t know why, maybe they’re busy irl or they just don’t speak english or maybe they just don’t care enough to type. It is frustrating if you’re trying to organize something but it happens with people of all skill levels in all online games.
Hey guys, I have a question.
What happens if I learn an armorsmith recipe if I don’t have armorsmith but instead have something else like leatherworking? Normally the game doesn’t let me learn recipes for crafting professions I do not have, but I can learn a recipe I got from this new living story episode.
So what happens if I use it? Is it destroyed or will I have the recipe when I create a character with the armorsmith profession?
Thanks
1. A solution to WvW population imbalances
2. New WvW content
3. New Pve Content New Dungeons/Fractals/Word Bosses and other cool stuff like that. Epic dungeons/raids like The ruined city of Arah would be welcome (I love that dungeon).
4. More Living Story content
5. More traits and skills
(edited by Davey.7029)
Reason why rangers are hated in dungeon and, by the way, in the lfg :
1 – L2P issue yes there are still rangers that use LB #4 ad nauseum (and that would be the very reason for kick)
2 – The guys that fit the description above tend to forgot a lot to read teamchat.
3 – Pet. Although a pet may be a meat shield, it :
– aggro
– push boss out of corner (god that’s tiring!)
– die before being usefull as a meatshield because it can’t dodge.
4 – Most of dungeon are done melee because it’s a pain to run after trash. (Sadly most of the rangers want to play at range)
5 – Spirit can be great but they still die easily. A banner never die.
6 – Rangers that don’t know how to control their pet (aka : AC path 2 boss puller)But, if we leave this aside, rangers are great for dungeon. Ton of heal, tons of evade, ok dps, nice party buff… The fact is rangers are hated because when you’ve got one in your party it’s a gamble to see if it will be hell or heaven (depending on your ranger).
1) As long as you tell people not to use the 4th LB skill, they will stop. When I started doing dungeons I also did it at first, but when people told me it was annoying to them, I never did it anymore. If the ranger keeps doing it, then he’s just not a good teammate.
3 – Again, new players who don’t know yet that some pets are better for certain occasions, which would be simply solved by telling them to switch to another pet, to put it passive or whatever.
4 – This is more of a gear issue then anything else. When you reach lvl 80 you have no toughness so it’s really hard to get right close to bosses as a ranger, specially when you don’t know the tactics (when to dodge and when to avoid certain attacks).
5 – Can’t remember the last time my frost spirit died. I usually drop it close to the group but obviously never on top of it so it doesn’t get killed.
6 – See number 3
Every thing you described there has a simple answer: new players, that’s it. Just gotta teach people if they don’t know what to do.

I wish this system (Megaserver) was in place for normal WvW. It would get rid of population imbalances. The megaserver would still place you with guild members and people on your friend list so you could still play with them on WvW.
On my server we’re lucky if we have a group of 10 playing at all times, and only on peak hours we can achieve something like 20-40 players. It’s really depressing, and I don’t feel like paying 20 bucks to fix the game. That’s Arena net’s job. Besides, I enjoy playing with people I met on WvW.
So yes, I welcome the Megaserver or any other system that can fix the server population imbalance like server merges or free transfers to low-medium pop servers, or any other thing. I’ve only started playing 2 months ago but from what I’ve seen, Anet has some very creative people on their team. I know they could come with a solution for this if they wanted to.
Regarding EOTM, I have to say I love the map. It is a lot more interesting and impressive than Eternal Battlegrounds or the other borderland maps, but the main issue I have with it is that you’re not really helping your server, you’re just playing for yourself.
(edited by Davey.7029)
I agree. Until we have a patch to solve this I suggest starting your own groups, that’s what I try to do.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Those are just groups made by ignorant people that you probably don’t want to play with anyway. It’s most likely the same people who make AP only groups or something silly like that, because apparently accumulating achievement points makes you a more skilled player. Who knew?
Rangers can be very useful to a group. Our spirits can help a lot when your group is not doing so well, and the Spotter trait provides a good DPS boost to the group. We have good mobility with signets so we can skip content well. We can also buff everyone with Fury/Might with our pets (Red Moa and Lynx).
Our damage is great and we can survive longer than other classes because we are ranged and we can just avoid any unnecessary damage and some times even save the group from a wipe.
But hey, most people need to complain about someone when a group wipes so we always take the blame. Just ignore the small minded people and play the class that you have fun with it and start your own group. Let them play with their warrior/guardian groups, I find those boring.
