Maybe you picked the buff that reduces incoming damage by 10% ? Sorry can’t remember the name but you get it by interacting with the forge in the SE Keep.
Ranger. Ranger is probably you want. They can easily solo tower and keep lords since their pet can tank all of their damage.
Despite of what skyhawk said, you can still be a support ranger.
The spotter trait in Marksmanship will apply crit chance to players near you. You can also play either a spirit build and provide almost constant damage and protection buffs to everyone in you party, or play a shout build and provide swiftness and healing buffs.
The difference between both of them is that the first one relies on spirits which unfortunately don’t usually survive very long in zerg fights, and the second one relies more on your pet.
And since I’m talking about pets, I would like to mention:
The fern houd pet can buff party members and the red moa buff their crit chance. The brow bear will cure conditions from you and your allies.
Birds will also buff Swiftness to you and your allies, and the jungle stalker will buff might.
To conclude, as a ranger you also have access to warhorn which you can use buff swiftness to you and your allies.
So while ranger is not really what people look into when thinking about a support class, it can still be quite useful as one if you build it correctly.
And yes, you can also take out solo roamers and escape well with Greatsword, Sword + warhorn, rampage as one, signet of the hunt, etc…

it’s not a coincidence that every mmo that was supposed to kill guild wars failed!
Except no MMO is trying to “kill” anything.
yeah mmo’s not trying.players keep saying that.still remember when eso was about to release and people here were saying that it gonna kill gw2.
I couldn’t even count the amount of people saying GW2 was going to kill WoW. Guru was full of ’em.
Well yes, popular opinion will be just that. I don’t think every developer sits in a dark room and says “Ok guys, now, what game are we going to kill next?”. What matters is if the game is successful and profitable, and that’s what companies focus on.
Nobody needs to kill WoW, it’s already slowly dying, but that doesn’t matter. If server costs become cheaper, Blizzard can keep WoW servers up, the same way Arena net is doing with the original Guild Wars. A game is not dead until it’s really dead.

Hi all. First topic on these forums. I just wanted to come here and say that GW2 is the best MMO game ever. I don’t care what anyone says. I know there are some people that come on here who bash the game because they are not happy with this or that or want to mention they are “leaving” the game because of this or that but whatever. Maybe they don’t appreciate a good game when they see one and find excuses instead of finding different ways to have fun with it. I want to change the scenery a bit here and say thanks Anet for the best MMO game and experience ever! Keep it up and looking forward to see what’s next in the world of Tyria!
I even still play GW1 from time to time and that is also one of the best game’s ever too!
:)
Good for you that you like the game, but you don’t seem to understand how important constructive feedback is, and this is where you see most of it: on the forums.
People “complain” and “bash”, not because they hate the game, but because they love it, otherwise they wouldn’t be here anymore. The only posts that are useless are the “I’M GONNA LEAVE THIS GAME THIS IS HORRIBLE, GOODBYE ARENA NET”, because those don’t tell us anything and a lot of times are made by trolls who are still playing the game.
Also devs love talking to us (the CDI’s are solid proof of that) and they do implement new content and change the game based on players’ suggestions.
The problem is that so few people know how to give fair constructive criticism or even judge the merits and failures of stuff. People often get dramatic , use hyperbole, call names, etc. The trolls and the dramatic crowd also often bury them.
Many also don’t check the effects themselves. Often the complaining starts before the change, it’s even justified sometimes (like with commander tags), but other times it is baseless (profession based loot for example). The band wagon effect is very strong too. Everyone hated the NPE before they even knew what the changes were and there was so much bad information going around about the level locks that everyone believed, some of it was because of bugs but most was from other players.
Also looking back at Ascended release it was the same, everyone was proclaiming doom (that there will be a gear treadmill now and power creep) and saying that they quit the game. This was before even a single item was released. Now I think that Ascended gear was probably a very good change to game. It gave many people something to do and fractals are an interesting game type.
Well yes, but those posts aren’t really considered constructive criticism, right? :P
Well, you can complete all of the achievements if that is something you want to do. There are also rewards that you can get like minis, outfits and skins, and you can see if you can reach to the top of the Mad King’s Tower (the jumping puzzle).

Tournament lasts what, 1-3 days? Lol, some people really have nothing else to do than to think of what to complain next.
Such a wonderful music! I would also like to know the name of it :-(
The puzzle is really fun, but I have to agree that the rewards were a bit disappointing. I already had all of the three skins and I think you can get the recipes from the trading post.
My guess is that it was changed because ACs could be used to hit everywhere in that tower. A week ago, someone was killing the Worker (and Quartemaster) inside QL while we held it, which I thought was a clever way to stop upgrades from running. But basically nothing in that tower was safe.
Makes sense , but why is the bridge still there? It serves no real purpose now and it also looks bad.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Oh I didn’t know that was changed. Well it looks a bit terrible now, specially with the bridge still there lol. At least before it was original, now it looks like just any other tower in the map.
Like Shylark said, ranger is a good pick.
That’s really sad… And what’s more depressing is that you’re asking us if it’s considered jerk behaviour or not…
Why would you waste your energy to make other people’s lives miserable?
(edited by Davey.7029)
I don’t know about you, but if I wanted to play a gear grind game, I would play something like WoW or Diablo or Path of Exile. If they ever design gear with better stats than ascended (legendary maybe?), it will probably take a couple of years at least. This is just not that type of game where all you do is kill monsters all day to get a new piece of equipment.
I’m not sure but I think once you complete the spoo achievement collection, you won’t get any more spoon drops.
You can destroy your Krytan set after you’ve unlocked it in your wardrobe (it will still cost a transmutation charge if you wish to transmute).
My question was not about running PUGS but running them for HIGH LEVEL FRACTALS…..a most specific, focused, (and low population) segment of the game.
Anyone that PUGs Dungeon Speed runs or High Level Fractals is going to have a tough time gaining sympathy from the general community….that’s just not a smart use of the LFG system.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Anet shouldn’t aspire to “fix” the LFG systems so those 2 modes can use it, but as it is now anyone doing so (and not being very smart about it) is likely to run into problems.
There’s nothing wrong with “pugging” high level fractals. I do it once in a while since most of my friends/guild just play WvW or they don’t do fractals at all. The LFG system is there to be used and most people who do the level 40+ fractals are experienced so they know what they’re doing.
OP, If you want to minimize your risk of being kicked, I advise to never invite two people of the same guild. A lot of the time they will just kick you or another player so they can invite somone from their own guild.
(edited by Davey.7029)
I think Ranger is perfect right now. Before the patch you could easily ignore berserk rangers since their damage was awful. Now they are actually a threat, just like they should be… just like any glass cannon builds should. And like any glass cannon builds, you can actually die very fast if you’re not paying attention, so in my view it’s perfectly balanced.
If you like roaming and hate blobs, you don’t have to join one. That’s what we do in our guild most of the time: while most players follow the tag, we do our own thing and capture objectives on the other side of the map.
Yes, you can enjoy playing on a bottom server, but your experience will suffer because the game mode was designed for large-scale battles supporting hundreds of players at the same time.
And don’t tell me everyone is happy with the current state on WvW. I talked to and still talk to a lot of people who are disappointed about WvW in Bronze, and even though some have transfered so they could have a better WvW experience, some decided to stay. Not because they love playing outnumbered, being zerged down or regularly joining EB with nobody in it, but because of the friends they made in their guild and in their server.
What if that could be solved? What if Anet could come up with a system where you would still be able to play with your friends? That’s the obvious problem here, and I think the alliance and battlegroup suggestions would help.
(edited by Davey.7029)
I don’t know about you guys but in the 6 or 7 months since I started playing this game, I only had 1 or 2 matchups that were balanced to the point where we weren’t sure who was going to win, and it was exciting because people were playing and they had fun and they wanted to be first so it was very competitive.
However, more often than not, we are either being stomped hard, and because of that most people give up and do something else like PvE or whatever, or we are stomping the enemy so hard to the point one or both of them gives up and stops playing.
I see people acting arrogant and all, not just in this thread but in others, but they all know how it feels to being zerged down and feeling hopeless because they just don’t have enough people to cover all borderlands and sometimes not even one single map. It happened or has happened to pretty much anyone (except maybe in SFR) and I think it’s safe to say people don’t want that. I mean what’s the fun when you see all maps and EB painted green/blue/red and you know you can’t do anything at all?
And being the “giant” and facerolling the other two servers isn’t fun at all because it’s not challenging, and you don’t exactly fight anyone , you just do the PTT thing and capture empty buildings and objectives over and over without any resistance.
The week where Underworld had more than a 200K point advantage over FoW and BT was one of the worst for me. Yes, it felt good to be first, and to beat our opponents, until the score difference was so huge WvW became so tedious because the other two servers just gave up. I’m sure a lot of people in my server enjoyed that, but when I play a game I wanted to be challenged and have a fair chance, and I feel we didn’t give one to BT or FoW, but it’s not our fault, it’s just the mess of what the matchmaking system is.
Right now WvW is like playing a game of football or basketball with teams of different sizes, and you just hope you’re in the one that is bigger.
TL;DR – Population imbalance is not fun unless you’re a masochist or sadist. Games should be balanced by nature or else they aren’t called games, but torture.
(edited by Davey.7029)
Power Necromancer is probably what you’re looking for. You can go for a Wellomancer buildwhere you can play around with wells which can be either AoE fields or Support AoE fields. Necromancer can deal a lot of damage specially if you go all berserk (Power + Precision + Ferocity) with runes of strength. Necromancers can’t really equip greatswords so that’s the only negative I guess.
Playing the different types of professions extensively helps a lot. For example, the Ranger’s longbow skill 1 has something like a one second cooldown, so it becomes a lot easier to know when to dodge an attack successfully. However, some skills are executed instantly, like conditions, so those will be harder to evade. The good part of this is that the more you play, the more patterns you will notice on other player’s behaviours, and then it’s just a matter of preparing yourself to counter their abilities.
So, short answer: play a lot of each class or/and learn their cooldowns and cast times. Obviously this takes a lot of work and practice, but that’s PvP. You are always learning something new everyday.
Also, I’m assuming you’re talking about PvP, because that’s where the difficulty lies in this game.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree with everything you said. For some people like me, who play online games to play with other players, the multiplayer content is more important than the story. If I wanted to play a story-based game, I would play a singleplayer game (which to me, provides a more immersive experience) like Bioshock Infinite.
Just don’t count on promises until there is an official announcement from Arena Net on this website/forum.
Don’t rely on promises. Things change, they get pushed back, or get cancelled all the time.
I’ve been on Underworld since the beginning, and right now WvW there is pretty sad. A group of half a dozen players is a zerg, and a group of over a dozen players is a fantasy. Fissure of Woe have it even worse. Current this week we are up against Dz and it’s not even worth turning up – the population imbalance is so massively severe we have no hope of getting anywhere. That’s not even fun for Dz – generally they just sit in their fortresses and once in a while go out roaming and watching UW people run away from them or get steamrollered.
My guild are thinking of moving to another server higher up the ladder, but then that just makes the problem worse for anyone left on UW.
You really HAVE to do something about this – for new players coming into WvW here it’s not an enjoyable experience at all. Here’s what I suggest as some possible quick & dirty fixes:
1. Merge the bottom four servers into one. The WvW population disparity is so severe at the bottom tier that the entire tier added together still would only form one fairly low-end contender. It would be an relatively simple fix and finally give the lower tier servers some decent combat.
2. Another solution would be simply make server transfers free to the bottom Tier servers. I have a few friends who would happily transfer over to join our Guild there but the cost is prohibitive. Yeah, I know ANet make money from server transfers and I respect that, but if you’re not going to merge the servers I assume you actually want the servers you have to have a viable minimum population. You can have it one way or the other way, but right now you have the worst of both worlds.
3. Give massively increased Magic Find to anyone on a map with a very low number of teammates, regardless of whether they are outnumbered or not. For example, there are frequently times in UW when there are less than 10 people on a map. So give them all a bonus +50% Magic Find. Or even a bonus 100% – anything that would incentivise people to jump into a map and go roaming. Right now UW can’t even raise enough people at any one instant to both cover EB and our own borderlands, never mind attack the enemy borderlands. And because there’s no-one to fight, there are no rewards in being there. If I can kill 30 players in one session on a major server, or 3 (if I’m lucky) on a bottom Tier server, then you need to make the rewards for killing those 3 appropriate. So bump up the Magic Find and then people will WANT to come here.
In short: either merge the bottom four servers, or if you must keep them at the very least give people incentive to want to move there AND take away any roadblocks stopping them.
Or watch it die on the vine, and I really don’t think any of us wants to see that.
Your first suggestion was good but I’m not sure about the second and third one. Roaming is fine and it’s a fun thing to do specially when you’re in a small group of people you know, but besides that, the rest of the WvW experience suffers.
The maps feel very empty and lifeless, it takes ages to even capture a tower since you have to resupply and you can only use 1-2 rams at a time (rarely 3 outside of prime time) and the large scale fights which was one big selling point of this game just aren’t there.
GvG is also non-existent since most of the WvW dedicated guilds transfered to the top servers. There is also little incentive to upgrade and siege keeps and towers since nobody will be there to defend them.
I don’t think better loot would do any miracles when the core gameplay just isn’t fun, and I don’t think this is what Arena Net had in mind when they were designing WvW.
I’m also from Underworld and I do love when we can people excited and motivated to play WvW and we can get a modest group of 20-30 players. I just wish this happened more often.
P.S.: Regarding your second suggetion, I don’t think anyone will transfer to the bottom servers because that’s not the experience the vast majority of players are looking for.
(edited by Davey.7029)
The discussion ended so abruptly, I’m not sure if anything is going forward. Not a single word on server merges/alliances/battlegroups.
I guess Anet doesn’t want to support WvW anymore, which is really sad.
Well, I can think of three possible reasons:
1) Anet doesn’t care about WvW enough to take it seriously. The focus right now is on SPvP and how to make it big in the Esports scene. And of course, the Living Story.
2) Anet doesn’t care about WvW enough to take it seriously. Collecting money from server transfers is profitable for the company, and honestly, who can blame them? Every MMORPG charges you for server transfers, and it keeps the game going. An unfair and unbalanced game is still better than no game at all.
3) Anet knows about this and is working on a solution. At least the latest response from the devleoppers on this subject seems to indicate they’re thinking on ways to solve this: server merges, alliances and battlegroups are all on the table right now.
Hopefully I’m right about 3)
(edited by Davey.7029)
The games you mentioned are very different from Guild wars 2 and should not be compared.
One good thing about Guild Wars 2 is that in general, the game “respects” you. It lets you do anything you want and although some people think otherwise, to me, the grind in this game is all optional. I mean, do we really need to farm 3000 gold for a percursor to enjoy the game? Not really. I don’t have a single legendary and I can still have fun.
People crying about population imbalances are probably just
…too poor to transfer to another server.
And still waiting to hear a good reason why any server should merge. All merging (or alliances, which is just another word for server merge) does is temporarily spread players around while destroying established communities. Then soon after, selfish players who only care about rewards will stack on whatever server/alliance/battlegroup will give them the most reward, meaning the server merge has done nothing and has actually made things worse.
Some people like the play style that happens at lower tiers, some like the play style in higher tiers. Why destroy that for nothing? The way things are now are not perfect, things could be better, but don’t make things worse just because some people can’t afford to transfer to a server that caters to their tastes.
Obviously they’re all poor, and probably pretty selfish too? Yes, let’s jump into conclusions, because why not?…
I personally don’t mind low population servers, as it’s actually the only place where people can roam alone and in small groups (although sometimes they will only see an enemy every 10-20 minutes). It’s a different playstyle from zerging and it’s fun in it’s own right. The problem is when you put a low population server against a high population one.
It’s not fun for the low pop server because they will constantly run into zergs and won’t be able to hold objectives or capture or even find any fair fights at all, and it’s not fun for the high pop server because the other two servers will eventually just give up and won’t join WvW anymore. Facerolling the weak servers is only fun until it becomes a singleplayer game about capturing empty buildings.
So there should be a balance, which for now, is non-existent.
(edited by Davey.7029)
I disagree with the idea of forcing only BG to disband (although doing away with servers completely is, imo, the best solution for WvW’s population imbalance problem) but the reality is, servers are killed all the time (and BG is one of the primary contributors to this problem). Communities have been disbanding since GW2’s launch and WvW population imbalances cannibalised other servers as the primary means of winning. The first one I can remember was Henge of Denravi, but then others (SBI, SoS and SoR all had big falls). The exodus from a server snowballs and large groups of players leave the server. The sad reality these days is this kind of server cannibalism is brought on by the T1 servers scavenging lower tier servers to bolster the stacked T1 population (T2 servers do this to a lesser extent). It only takes one or two big guilds to leave a server for things to stop being competitive and then the entire play style of that server is no longer viable resulting in a community kill.
ArenaNet (and people in this thread) might be concerned about harming existing WvW communities, but the reality is the current system does this all the time and it does push players away from WvW and GW2. WvW is already full of guilds on the same servers as former rivals, or on opposing servers of former allies, server loyalty doesn’t matter to the majority of the hard core WvW community. Alliances are far less threatening to the players I like playing with staying with me in WvW than the volatile impacts of WvW’s population imbalance. The only way to insulate yourself from it is to transfer, the higher the better.
Then you have servers like BP and NSP that have had pretty stable communities since launch. Although i’m still of the mind that world imbalances aren’t really a problem at all. I see very little benefit to mashing servers together or allying them in some way.
Of course they’re not a problem. People love playing outnumbered, right? That’s why they bought and support this game, so they can have unfair matches. People crying about population imbalances are probably just deluded and sore losers.
Population imbalance? Hackers? Server stacking? Don’t worry, those are all just a
a figment of your imagination.
No raids please, first make every profession useful for dungeons and fractals, half of the professions are NOT WANTED for some content and people are forced to play a certain profession just to try parts of the game! Raids would be the same crap…
Every profession is useful for dungeons and fractals. If you’re playing a specific profession just so others will accept you in their group, you shouldn’t. Every class is capable of doing the high level fractals, and yes, even ranger (now it’s actually a lot easier with changes to signets). Those people are just stuck in the past with their guard + war combos. They probably don’t even read patch notes and don’t know about the recent profession changes.
Back on topic, I love the idea of raids, but I’m not sure what will come out of this. I love the Mai Trin boss fight, Legendary Clockeart, aswell the Thaumanova Anomaly and the two bosses from the Molten Aliance, so I hope we will get something similar, but in a more epic scale.
Well done, apprentice!
Hahahah :P
UW did well this week even with all the odds against us, and not too bad last week either. I’m not sure what you mean that you can’t find strong small teams, because I do see them (I roam a lot so I know), and players regularly group and play together.
It’s not our fault people prefer the auto-win button and transfer to SFR or another server, but there are still very dedicated and experienced people here who haven’t given up yet.
Now, if you just want to transfer to a more populated server, than that is another story.
I was proud that even a server like SFR stepped down to double-team us (Deso, well known pve server in EU, but thought of as cheap blobbing server in wvw last tournament). That was an honour because that meant we were taken seriously (and rightly so, we ended as 2nd in gold league). But now I don’t think much double teaming is going on, at least not in EU gold. The reward scheme may contribute for this, because if they are important for you, you want to win every match.
Double teaming is still happening. This past week a certain server in Bronze league got 2v1’d and ended up in 3rd place. The reason: being disrespectful and obnoxious.
Double teaming happens all the time even if there is no communication between any of the servers. People prefer to attack the weaker server since it’s easier to capture objectives, and ignore the stronger one.

Really? What is the problem with having challenging content? This game is full of stuff you can easily do with your eyes closed, why not have something so veteran players can do besides farming skins and AP?
If you don’t like raids or you think they’re not for you, fine. Don’t participate in that part of the game. I do the same with Ranked PvP. It’s not my thing and I don’t care about Esports, so just I do something else.
the jelly haters who are bad at the game want everything without effort.
thats the problem. It’s when the game has too many of these little things and casuals start feeling disenfranchised. You think it won’t happen, I think it might happen.
99% of this game is easy mode content spam 11111 win game.
its when the game only has easy mode content and the veterans start feeling disenfranchised.seriously dude….
You’re assuming all veterans want challenging content. It’s a kittenumption. The question isn’t whether you feel disenfranchised but how many people by percentage do.
If it’s 5-10% of the playerbase, it might not be enough to justify a whole lot of challenging content.
Yes, I assume a lot of people want challenging content. After1-2 years of repeating the same dungeons and fractals, I think they want something new, something that probably will last them longer and that they can repeat and enjoy.
And look, this doesn’t have to be only for the PvE Elite. There are ways of implementing something like this so everyone can do it. A very popular MMORPG does it with Normal and Hard modes, but there are also other alternatives. This way everyone wins.
Oh I agree a lot of people want new stuff, but that’s not the conversation we’re having here. The question is how many of those people really want to be challenged and what percentage of them are talking about the same level of challenge.
Would you believe there are people in this game for which dungeons are still challenging?
Yes, I know for some people dungeons can still be challenging, but this challenging content could be implemented in a way so those people can still experience it. We have something like that already in the game and it’s called fractals. People can go for the level 1-9 or even 10-19 if they feel like it, while others will probably want something more challenging that actually tests them as a player, the same way Liadri did (and other queen pavillion bosses), so they will probably play higher level fractals.
Fractals are fun, but after 2 years I think some people want more challenging and exciting content. I don’t think that would do any harm. On the contrary, some actually quit the game because they think it doesn’t have anything to offer to them.

There are many great suggestions in this thread, but I say the alliance idea and the server merges are probably the best ones. However, if it’s not going to be controlled by Arena net (e.g. locking transfers), people will still stack on a certain battlegroup/Alliance/whatever new servers are merged. Obviously increasing the cost of transfers is not working.
I’m not sure which idea will be going forward and which one will actually will be implemented in the game, but whatever is done, I think there should be a population cap.
Let’s say EB has a player cap of 50.
- No match should be started until there is a minimum of players like let’s say 20, and if more than 5 players join on one side, there should be a queue for that server until the other server also reaches 25 players.
The population cap. and the queue system should be dynamic so neither side will be extremly powerful and stomp the opponent due to number advantage.
I think this is a good suggestion but if it’s not, please let me know.

How about,
mix of old and new,
Remove servers from wvw,
Add factions, god factions, Grenth, Balthazar etc… lets say 6… nice number…you choose a faction, for a week lets say, fight for it, every faction win gives u reward in tokens like in dungeons for stuff, also brings bonuses to the whole world (like in start of gw1, halls win eu/us favor etc.) just here adds like discounted waypoint travel, faster moving speed thru world etc. access to some instaces like in gw1 etc…
that system would work great on this population…
u can even change the maps a little so that keeps and castles represent certain graphical styles of gods u are fighting for, make maybe some nice looking armors for each faction exclusive to wvw and there u go,
get the best of pvp and pve in a single package and resolve server issues in a blast…

I like the factions idea, but I’m not sure about the number. I think 3 factions would be easier to balance. I’m not sure about other servers, but in mine, and even the ones I’ve been facing, it’s very hard to find someone to fight outside of prime time, unless you attack their keep. I think 6 factions would spread the population too much.

Hey,
This achievement (King of the Castle – Competitive WvW) is stuck at 85/100 – Tier 2 of 5.
I can’t seem to progress in this achievement even though I kill the Legendary Castle Lord and stand in the circle.
Is this happening to anyone else or just me?
I can’t think of any suggestions but I’ve seen some good ideas here and I’m happy the devs are reading this thread. WvW is a lot of fun when the matchups are balanced, but unfortunately that’s not always the case.
3. I’m playing WvW to fight other players. If they want that vista, they will have to go through me!
Selling on the TP seems to be more difficult and takes more time (you have to click more buttons and use the slide everytime you want to sell anything). The older TP took longer to sell because of loading times, but it was a lot easier and faster to sell stuff. With the new TP you have to click 6 times to sell one item, plus use the slider. With the old TP you only needed 3 clicks.
The collections are alright, I like them.
I only play ranger so I can’t comment on other classes, but it feels extremely powerful. Maybe a bit too much. I’ll have to play and test more.
Other than that, everything seems fine.

New players missed on all the achievements from season 1, so they will never be able to catch up to the ones who were here since the start. The AP leaderboard is a joke.
We already got an expansion, it’s called the Living Story. If you like it or not, that’s a different matter, but it is an expansion.
I don’t think we will see any paid expansion soon. It seems all resources are going towards the Living Story, and I don’t thnk they have time to work on anything else.
Hey
1. You can buy exotics with badges of honor in your home citadel (in your server’s borderland)
2. SPvP is Structed PvP, the 5vs5 PvP arenas located in Heart of the Mists.
3. When I say dungeons I mean the dungeons you see when you open the LFG tab. Ascalonian Catacombs, Citadel of Fire, Honor of the waves, etc… They are 8 in total. At the end of each explorable path you will get tokens which you can exchange for armor sets and weapons.
Hello Psi,
You can either craft exotics (which is all you need in this game, unless you want to do fractals, but even then, exotic gear is a good start), or you can buy them with the badges of honor you have, or you can exchange dungeon tokens for exotic gear.
Since you don’t have a lot of gold, I suggest running dungeons to get your exotic gear. You can also do SPvP to speed up the process since you also get weapons and armor.
The dungeon NPCs are located near the Postern Ward waypoint.
When you finish buying your set and weapons, you can either craft your accessories, or buy from the trading post. It’s a good idea to run the level 1-10 fractals as soon as possible so you can buy the rings with Fractal tokens. It will take a while to get them, but they are ascended. You can also buy accessories with laurels. With karma you can also buy armor.
If you’re going to run dungeons to get your equipment, I suggest buying lvl 80 greens from the trading post. They cost something like 1-3 silver, and they help a lot.
For the backpiece, you will either have to craft it, buy it with karma, or run a lot of fractals. However, the exotic version is weaker then other exotic backpieces, so you will probably want to craft the ascended one as soon as you can.
Good luck!
