cost 3 or 4? what a joke. that would mean it would cost 7 init to tele there and back… They should just make it so you have to be in range and maybe decrease the range a bit. The damage and evades are not even CLOSE to OP. Why do people complain about this with all the other OP kitten in this game? its saddening.

1.ignores Line of sight in spots,
2. ignores the Z axis
3. has no cool down,
4. no counter play
5. Pretty much spamable
6. removes a condi,
7. causes immobilize,
8. can be used to completely negate stuns ( not stun break but you can give enough distance to stop stuns)
9. Low cost initiative
10. The opposing player has no idea where the port back spot is.
11. Other classes have to waste utility slots with 30+ second cds to have this mobility.

Your right sounds completely balanced and fair. Booo whoooooooo poor thieves always getting picked on.

If you tone down sword 2 there is tons of counter play. No CD? lol it costs initiative… that is what we use in case u didnt know… it is good against stuns cuz we get 1 shotted if we get stunned so that is fair. the warrior can creep up on our port so we cant retreat too. The other player should also know where the port spot is too. But again, if they change the 2 skill a bit (like range or make it so you have to be in range) the build will be fine. The 2 skill is the only problem with the build.

I think they need to do 1 of the 2. There is no reason to have 4 seconds with the small burst thieves do in spvp. 3 seconds would make it much more balanced.

I think the problem is all the conditions in the meta. Ele’s are the worst class when it comes to dealing with condis. I think if you change the condi meta ele’s will be very strong because they 1v1 great, sustain and do good burst

This is ludicrous. Without stealth in any 2 v2 a thief would be targeted and spiked down fast even with all the evades some specs have. Its better to be able to basically force the opposition to have to take down another class which will certainly be harder to kill then a thief. Also, in any 2 v 2 both sides should be focusing on one target regardless. One player will always have 2 people targeting him.

It is true that 1 guy will have to on him. But if the thief is in stealth then he is doing nothing. At least other classes can do something while being tanky.

I believe that the sword 2 skill on thief is the only “broken thing they have” at the moment. Otherwise the class is not very strong and extremely hard to play. This post is completely ridiculous.

Im talking about smaller teamfights. While stealth is a good way to not be focused. You can’t do any damage while in it so u are useless. Why do you think most good PvP players use 0 shadow arts? WvW is a different story however and it is true that this is due to conquest. Either a thief is doing damage and an easy target or he is not doing anything and invisible. I never said it is useless but in conquest it can be counterproductive

A lot of people are bad and can’t deal with stealth thieves even though they’re in a poor position right now. They just simply need to L2P.

A lot of people are indeed bad..they couldn’t even deal with a well visible ele in punching bag mode so they asked for nerfs..now they can’t deal with scepter burst and so they ask for more nerfs…but touch their profession and suddenly everything is balanced..am I right @excalibur?

If you kill anyone with a bad attitude they will say whatever class ur playing is easy and needs a nerf. Some people just like to troll too. I believe this game is decently balanced but the devs should always try to improve it too.

Yeah, everyone should play without any armor equiped too.

Because if you have a higher defense your enemies will focus your teammates harder.

Stealth makes someone else on ur team (most likely the other DPS class) get focused twice as hard while u just sit in stealth and do nothing.

Think about a 2v2. A warrior (or almost any other class) can tank damage so the other person doesnt have to. If you go in to stealth you all of a sudden make it a 2v1 and ur teammate will be killed extremely fast and you will have to run. Stealth is kind of an underpowered mechanic in PvP because it takes you out of the game. This is why most thieves never trait into shadow arts. The only viable thief build at the moment is S/D and it focuses on evades so it can tank damage like all the other classes. The only other sort of viable build is burst which doesnt have much stealth. Thieves in stealth just make the other team focus harder on its teammates.

Stealth needs a buff to be honest because it takes you out of the game. but that is beside the point. I would like to say that I AM NOT SAYING DONT BALANCE THE GAME. I am saying that the players should not be the ones thinking they know everything that is wrong because they are biased as hell (and most know absolutely nothing). I am saying leave it to the devs to decide what is wrong. Hopefully this makes sense lol

There are some rightfull call for nerfs though. Such as condition damage, stealth, and too many evades are already major ones. Balance should be something on the top list to do from Anet their side.

But what makes you the balance expert? without steath thieves are deleted from the game and evades are one of the main skill factors in the game. I feel like the problem with thieves right now is the boon steal on s/d. Everything else is easy for me to deal with. Again, you did it mildly and kindly, but saying things like this is a huge problem for the game because nobody has an unbiased view other than the devs

Stealth is really easy to deal with. It is just as good if not worse than any other classes survival ability. Staying in stealth too long hurts teams. If anything it needs a buff

I played against this engineer named “Voz Kun” and literally 5 people on our team couldn’t kill him. Engineer bunker is literally the most kittened and impossible thing to kill in this game. It obviously needs a nerf, like wtf.

Ok. Nobody uses stealth thieves in PvP. The only way thieves make the meta are with s/d. Stealth (unless u trait into acrobatics) is literally the only defense thieves have. I kill 80% of the thieves i play whether i play thief, warrior or mesmer. They can only really stealth for 3 seconds at a time unless they use shadow refuge too. Reducing thief stealth and initiative would be like weakening other classes armor (or other defensive strategy) and cooldowns. Stealth thieves are pretty weak right now in general and direct damage needs a buff if anything

I really think players should try to play a class before complaining about it. What if the other player is just better than you but happens to play a different class? I bet most people still complain. It feels like its impossible to master the game because if you get too good you just get complained about and nerfed… Leave it up to the devs to balance and decide and kitten. I’m tired of hearing about how you want something to be nerfed because you got outplayed. It is ruining the game.

I think it’s pretty clear that s/d damage and evades are not OP. What is too strong is the fact that u can just leave a fight at will by pressing 2. This is the broken factor and what dumbs down the gameplay. I think they should just reconstruct the sword 2 skill on thieves and make it a damage skill. The s/d set has only 1 real damage skill and i think another 1 would be good for it. Make it a mobile OFFENSIVE skill for thieves. The evades and utilities provide enough defense.

Hardly anyone in pax ran direct burst damage period. People either ran survival builds or heavy condi builds. I think that is a big reason ele’s were not used. In fact between all of the burst builds i think ele has the best 1v1 potential. Ele also has higher burst than thief or mesmer but obviously ele has some disadvantages too. Saying ele’s are not the best at anything is kinda dumb too cuz they can have very good well rounded builds that can support and do decent damage. Ultimately Arena Net has to do what they think is right and they know more than me. So If they decide to buff ele i won’t argue. Im just saying i don’t think they are that bad.

Killshot is 1.5 times backstab damage and from range. In a teamfight thieves cant even get a backstab off anyways. Ive played every class in pvp and thief, ele and hgh engineer are by far the hardest. Backstab doesnt even hit that hard. If a warrior woulda done the same thing as the thief with killshot it would been 20k damage instead of 13k.

i think that in this meta survivability is key. so going 20 water 20 air and 30 arcane with some defensive utilities is the way to go i think. Fresh air with all arcanes is too risky

Sword thief has gotten nerfed a lot. Larcenous costs an extra init and the port range has been decreased. The OP thing about s/d thief (if anything) is the boon steal. It will be 2 instead of 1. Everything else is counterable and fine

Exactly ^^ every class in the game can burst… L2P warriros all u have to do is stun once or twice and its GG. Thief is not the only class in the game that can burst. Plus the thieves with high burst cant hardly stealth due to lack of utilities. Warriors must have 20 skills that hit as hard or harder than backstab

Thats the thing tho. I dont see how you can do 17k damage on a 3.2 armor guy instantly Unless you sacrifice all utilities and everything… even then i think it would be more like 9-10k. Then all the warrior has to do is turn around and hit his burst. Im just sick of hearing about backstab. In the current meta its not even a good skill. Warriors arcing shot does the same damage and is AOE with a 10 second CD and dont get me started on other skills. I would also like to add that a thief using this can only use cloak n dagger which requires him to hit. The warrior should see this coming.

In fact im pretty sure he stacked the signets to get 20 stacks of might and used bloodlust. If he did that he had absolutely no armor or utilities. The warrior could have just 1 shotted him at that point lol. In fact he probably did but just went on the forums to complain.

I agree that the common stats change things but it goes both ways. Im sure that warrior could do a number on the thief as well. I play both classes but more thief i will admit. I really cant see how someone could do that kind of backstab without sacrificing everything. In spvp thieves cant even take 1-4 of a warriors health with a backstab. Thief backstab really isnt great in pvp and in WvW it is still balanced but more inflated. 1 stun and that thief probably would have been dead. Burst is in fact weak in the current tanky/condi meta. I know plenty of good warriors that say they laugh at thieves.
