i think its because they base it on ranking on the leaderboards and not pvp levels. So a low level player can get lucky and climb up the leaderboards and then be on good teams.

Burst is actually underpowered in this meta.
It does no AOE damage so things like necros and engineers will always teamfight better. Also it only has 1 condition

This is the problem with pvp when i think about it. Asia has 4.3 billion people and they seem to like video games haha. Look at the majority of LoL teams… mostly asians. At least put the game in korea, japan and china. This is why games like DOTA and LoL are so popular. They are open to the WHOLE WORLD. GW2 is open to a few countries

This is true. Condi/toughness builds completely overpower DPS. Simply because DPS classes are too squishy cant do much due to that.
thieves have s/d and everything else kinda sucks in this meta. Even tho i think s/d lacks a lot like AOE, condition… They dont really teamfight super well
i think you need a mid bunker, 2 condi dps roamers, home bunker and either a hybrid or DPS burst roamer
I dont understand why people think they cant react to backstab? If a thief stealths… react. Back up, dodge back, put up a defense… I can go on and on. Its not like thieves even have much stealth unless u wanna do the HS combo every 5 seconds and waste time

I will elaborate on what he said.
By meta builds, I’m guessing he means
A) healing signet warrior. bunker or CC or condi and any kind of mix.
B) condi necro
C) spirit rangerS/D would be real strong IF the above meta builds didn’t exist, possibly the strongest. But unfortunately those meta builds exist and are easily better, especially the warrior one which is FOTM and make up 40%+ of team rosters in solo Q now.
D/P is probably popular because you kill people with it, and as such you can “glory farm” but it doesn’t do as much for the overall score as S/D.
Over there on the warrior forums, some still think a thief can counter them, but it’s actually the other way around.
Yup pretty much. The meta 0/10/30/0/30 warrior build should absolutely NEVER lose to a s/d thief. There are other good meta builds too. Basically warriors and every heavy CONDI AOE/Toughness build is better than s/d. And lets not forget guardians who are the most meta thing ever. Ive been seeing more 2 guardian comps lately as well. S/D thieves really dont bring too much to a team.
If you die to heartseeker spam alone… 1.uninstall the game right away. 2. break the disc. 3. Try to work on those reflexes
That is a terrible idea. People QQ because they dont know what they are doing and just want to complain. With all the AOE in this game hitting the thief would be too easy. Stealth is not in the least but overpwered. Bad players complain about everything. Killing a stealth thief is already easier than it should be. Just spam AOE near u and the thief wont be able to atack with melee. Good players do this all the time and absolutely wreck stealth thieves… If anything stealth is underpowered

d/p is pretty much unviable right now along with everything else other than s/d. I actually think s/p is the second best weapon set for thieves. S/D is sort of strong but pales in comparison to the some other meta builds. D/P is still the most popular hotjoin set because it is fun but at high level its too squishy for this ridiculous condi/AOE meta.
The next person who says s/d thieves have great damage and infinate dodging should go down a bottle of jacks in 4 seconds lol… not to mention the ports drain ur initiative FAST.
Eles have good ways to survive. In fact ive seen some of the top ele’s duel top d/p thieves and the eles just dominated

Ya im just trying to come up with ideas. One day its this one day i have some others. However im not the one balancing it so i thought any ideas are good.
its not a good nerf. The 3 second reveal is entirely called for cuz nodody runs d/d because of it. Also, the meta leans towards tanky, AOE condi classes. So there is hardly anything to burst. Even glassy necros are tanky due to DS.
Ok but i just dont feel like burst builds fit the meta at all right now. Too squishy with no healer or support.
Ele should beat a d/p thief pretty easily unless the thief gets an unfair jump.
First of all i would like to say the way s/d is right now is not OP compared to all the other meta crap out there, but i do think it is part of the problem. An easy fix to the build would be to nerf signet of agility. The trait that gives you endurance back after you dodge is not at all the problem. In fact it is a good mechanic. The problem is using the signet of agility to refill in combination because it doubles the 3 dodges you already have. So 3+3 becomes 6 and that is when it becomes spammy. So the easy fix to s/d thieves is to tone down the sigil of agility. Do that and the spec is fine.

For example I’m using Cruuk’s build with some variations, such build provides you a lot of damage and also a lot of survivability, combined with perma-stealth you shouldn’t die in any 1vs1(that doesn’t mean you win all 1vs1 but you shouldn’t die in those)
You only need practice practice and more practice to master it.ah and also, d/p>s/d blinds do the work.

It gives you the best way to condi remove for a thief.(vs necro, engi,ranger).
it gives you the most constant damage for a thief.(you can get 100% critical backstabs all the time)

Constant nerfs to burst, nerfs to stealth with more to come.But they shouldn’t be able to zip in and out of the fight either, because that prevents you from 3 shotting them.
Ok, but the amount is absurd. It would be one thing if the thief couldn’t shadow return while CC’d, because at least that way you can do something to stop it. But you can’t deal with balance by isolating one ability. The dodge spam also comes into play, because what’s the point of CC stopping shadow return if you can’t reliably land CC due to the thief randomly spamming dodges to the point where you can’t even “count” all of the evades.
Also, Protection, Aegis, condition removal, regeneration, and other things can be given to the thief via support from his team. It’s not necessarily the end of the world that the thief doesn’t have these.
Also, stealth spamming needs to be nerfed further, or again there needs to be ways to deal with this, and being able to 1-shot people with backstab was also stupid.
So basically take theives out of the game? The last thing stealth needs is a nerf. Nothing we have is even viable besides s/d. This is incredibly biased and s/d is not even overpowered but i do think the 2 skill needs a small fix. Also you are wrong about each team having a thief. The most used classes were by far ranger, guard, engi and necro, theif and warrior were probably tied for 5th. There was more AI than players in this tourney lol.

Im just fielding thoughts. I mean the 2 skill is hard to counter but i dont think its really OP. Also i said i dont think removing a boon from sword 3 is a good idea
there is no reason you should lose to a thief if u go 0/10/30/0/30 with zerker stance and healing signet. Thhey will be lucky to get you below half health

its not small against another glass cannon… but usually the other team only has 1 glass build and he is way in the back

My title explains it. Everything else just dies and burst really isnt super high. Few players use anything else, the thief that comes to mind who doesnt use s/d is caed and he is even overpowered in a lot of 1v1 situations and has to reset a lot. He manages to succeed due to brilliant plays and is a master of his build. I would like to see the other builds brought up to be viable so we can actually experiment with the class… Right now i have to choose between fun or being viable…
This really is not a hard fix. The 2 skill is the only thing that creates no counterplay. Otherwise it is perfectly fine. Everyone who complains about evades or stuff like that just doesnt know how it works

How did S/D thieves generate so many pets?
I mean, it’s the most broken weapon set on the most broken class with the hands down most OP skill in the game, the one with no counterplay options that evades everything, so I imagine it was mostly bunkers and S/D thieves.
In this meta? are you kidding me? s/d wasnt even used that much. All s/d needs is a 2 skill change and every other thief build sucks. Plus there are so many more OP builds as you can tell by the post…
