The dragonbrand happened. See: http://thatshaman.blogspot.nl/2013/03/a-historical-guide-to-tyria-update-3.html
Play GW1. There is a massive amount of posts about recreating GW1 content but this is a new game. People don’t want to see what they saw for 6 years.
I knew someone would say this, that’s why say the following:
Again, this is more fantasy than actual suggestion but I’d love to see Guild Wars 1 in general and Prophecies in particular getting such a treatment. Not that it would justice to it but hey, it’s something. Before you say that I should just go back to GW1 I want to say that I thoroughly enjoy GW2 and that playing GW1 I can’t help but feel that the game is outdated.
Now, I know this will probably never happen but.. If it would happen Anet can charge me an arm and a leg for it and I would buy it in an instant. As to how it should be done.. well, that would be difficult of course and people’s opinions would vary but here’s my idea.
Limit the race choice to human (obviously) and disallow engineers and thieves. Limit weapons to those of Guild Wars 1, meaning a Warrior would only have access to hammers, main-hand swords, main-hand axes and shields for example. Guardians would have their name changed to monk, would wear light armor and only wield staves, scepters and focuses.
Reintroduce secondary professions. What do you gain from secondary professions? Not traits and not elite skills but weapon options, weapon skills, healing skills and utility skills. A Warrior/Ranger wielding a Longbow would thus get Long Range Shot, Rapid Fire, Hunter’s Shot, Point Blank Shot and Barrage as weapon skills.
Aside from these adjustments Guild Wars 2’s gameplay would stay intact (10 skills, no energy, dodging, jumping, boons, no hexes etc).
Now, as for how quests and zones, missions and things like that should be handled… well.. I’m not sure. I for one do not mind instancing but I know many people do. I’m not sure how well Guild Wars 2’s engine handles traditional quests and I’m equally unsure how well Guild Wars 1’s quests translate to dynamic events so I’ll leave those issues be. Missions would be similar to dungeons and the personal story so that should be easy (aside from the massive amount of work of creating it all).
Factions and Nightfal would be a bit harder that prophecies. Thieves can stand in for assassins of course but ritualists would have to be replaced by necromancers (or visually redone engineers), paragons would have to be replaced by warriors and dervishes by guardians.

What would suggestions be if such a thing would be done?
I put my money on the personal nemesis being Caithe from a dystopian future who has become so obsessed with defeating the elder dragons that she is using the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades to advance technology in order to defeat them.
I’d almost be inclined to ignore everything said in this interview.. I wonder what Ree and Jeff have to say about it.
You do know that Monks are impossible because Anet will not introduce a purely support class and the parts of the Monk that they do wanted to introduce ended up with the Guardian right?
Dervishes are too closely linked to the human gods and in terms of gameplay are actually quite similar to Guardians (even though Guardians wear heavy armor and don’t wield scythes).
Ritualists are Engineers with a Necromancy-like vibe while the Paragon’s skills and gameplay ended up getting divided between Guardians and Warriors.
I’m more than fine with the current professions (in fact I think they cover most if not all archetypes), as long as their options of weapon types and utility/healing/elite skills get expanded.
I made a suggestion for more novels over in the suggestion forums a while back, too bad it didn’t catch on.
I’d love to see more books, or at least one more set in the time immediatly following Guild Wars 1. Say between 1080 AE and 1120 AE. Some interesting stuff happened during that time such as the creation of Ebonhawke, the unification of Kryta under Salma, the Foefire, the establishement of the Durmand Priory, the creation of the Black Citadel, the Charr rebellion against the Flame Legion and finally the rise of the first Elder Dragon, Primordus. Perhaps it could have a Charr main character instead of a human main character.
I’d also like novels about the Tengu and novels about Cantha and Elona but those can wait until they are (almost) added to the game.

They have said in interviews in the last month yes to pretty much all your questions. They intend to use the Living World updates to add all those things. They didnt give a timetable though. There will be a video blog at the end of the month that might give us more details.
Note that they only said that they could do all those things, not that they will do all those things. And personally I hope they will never add any new professions.
Having just finished Sea of Sorrows, I am hungry for more lore. I read and enjoyed all three the Guild Wars novels even though the quality of Edge of Destiny and Ghosts of Ascalon wasn’t all that.
Anyway, I’d love to see more books, or at least one more set in the time immediatly following Guild Wars 1. Say between 1080 AE and 1120 AE. Some interesting stuff happened then and it would be great for people like me who played Guild Wars 1.

Perhaps you guys would like to see a novel set during a different time, if so please share.
Edit: Of course I’d also like novels on the Tengu and novels about Cantha and Elona but those can wait until they are (almost) added to the game.
