30 points in Deathshroud does not give extra 30% increase???

Well, I guess I should be glad we get the fix….
but holy kittening kitten i cant believe the entire necro-unique attribute boost was actually bugged :/ Like at what stage is this game, alpha testing?
The names we give to builds just get worse and worse haha.
Anyway I have a suggestion for you OP: Spite instead of Curses. See, if you wanna focus on Chilled, surely you prefer + 30% condition duration over +30% condition damage.
But yeah necro’s chills can get pretty brutal haha
For reference, I did the puzzle in about 1.5 hours, so I’m not even that good. Honestly I didn’t consider myself ‘good’ at all, it’s just that apparently most people are worse than me. Oh and please don’t blame Anet for your stupidity if you tried 11 consecutive hours and failed. That’s just not the way you handle difficult content. You try, and if you fail too much, you quit to try again LATER. You’re welcome and thanks for reading.
Hey Doc, thanks for your input, but next time try not to attack others by your own failure of reading! I succeeded after 11hrs of effort. I’m not asking ANet to tone the difficulty, to the contrary, I am asking them to fix the common bugs preventing players from achieving/enjoying the puzzle as it currently stands.
My post didn’t really address anyone in particular. If your stance is purely to fix common bugs, then my post didn’t really address yours at all. I just took the 11 hours-number because I saw the number come by and found it quite ridiculous.
Yoooo so much semantics in this thread.
I’m just gonna leave my opinion here. Imo, this jumping puzzle is kitten AMAZING. I absolutely loved it. I can think of only 2 issues, which are camera at the beginning and charactermodels. These didn’t degrade the experience for me at all however, I just saw them as an additional challenge to overcome (It is very reasonable to hate these 2 issues however haha). I guess I’m one of those players that likes hard content and welcomes it in GW2 (No, that doesn’t mean I’m elitist). Now then..
Is it bad design to make a difficult puzzle in a Halloween event? I would have to say no (big suprise huh). It really comes down to what has already been said. It’s ‘just’ an achievement. Now I perfectly understand that people want achievements, but it is ABSOLUTELY BAD game design to make achievements not much of an achievement at all. You don’t deserve the achievement in every sense of the word if you can’t do it. I don’t even consider that to be ‘harsh’ or anything. Some of them need to be hard to maintain their worth. And if you remain unable to do it, I don’t think it’s much of a problem. An important reason why being that it’s a difficult achievement in a special event rather than one in the main game. That’s because special event achievements really are less important than general achievements (regardless of how ‘important’ you find achievements to be in general). So good on you, Anet.
I find it important to remind everyone the direction games are headed: spoonfeeding everything. Just think about the immensely popular Farmville, which can be considered NOT A GAME at all, due to the lack of options (look it up, quite interesting really). It is absolutely detrimental if we let more games go that direction. So please stand strong and do not complain about difficult content that isn’t even mandatory.
For reference, I did the puzzle in about 1.5 hours, so I’m not even that good. Honestly I didn’t consider myself ‘good’ at all, it’s just that apparently most people are worse than me. I kinda wanted to make my own thread but that’d be kind of redundant.
I just wanna say bravo. Bravo, Anet. Mad King’s Clocktower is probably the best jumping puzzle I’ve ever played in any game
On a related note;
I’m pretty sure it’s a fact that gem prices rised due to Halloween. When that event is over, do you think gemprices will lower again or will they stay the same / just keep on rising?
Atm I’m thinking there’s just no reason why gemprices would lower (bad conversion rate, more gold in the game), and that they’ll just rise forever (Faster during special events). I’m thinking that kind of inflation could be pretty detrimental to the community, because it nullifies the entire “Don’t wanna spend $$? You can use ingame gold!” idea for any player that doesn’t farm hard (which I’d guess is at least 75% of the community).
Thoughts?
I always thought the conversion “tax” (spread it’s called?) was 27.5%
judging from OP’s post, it’s more than 30% now.

Cool pic. Unfortunately, lot of BS here:
- Spite X is no longer bugged
- Curses III and IV were never bugged? Unless you mean III + Plague and the internal cooldown on IV which are reasonable (but should be made clear)
- DM II is no longer bugged
- BM had some fixes, honestly the differences between some of the traits still confuse me so IDK
- SR III is no longer bugged, SR X was never bugged.
So… yeah. Stop presenting false info. And I just posted the ones I knew where wrong, for instance idk if Curses X or DM III is bugged or not.
(for reference: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Necromancer_traits)
edit: oh right, Curses IV gives one less stack of bleeding than it should.
Not gonna lie, this would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Buuut I doubt it will happen.

Afaik killing ranger pets doesn’t make you rally. Same should go for minions.
The main question you need to ask yourself imo is: “Is this healthy for the metagame?” The answer is most likely no. This combo can be countered, but it takes disproportional effort. It skewes the metagame into directions which most people deem undesirable (as they should). L2p needn’t even enter the equation: just because something is beatable doesn’t mean it’s balanced.
Also, evilapprentice is kitten

Blind on autoattack is pretty OP imo.
If you ask me, yeah staff 1 is pretty bad, but give it 100% chance for combo finisher and it’s an alright move. Doesn’t need much more than that imo.
I was thinking about doing this as well for pve and am gonna use axe/focus + staff with Soul Marks & Greater Marks (you gain lifeforce per enemy hit so greater radius should be terrific)

I use well necro all the time and can’t say I’ve ever seen this happen… Screenshots look pretty convincing tho.
I can think of 4 necro stunbreaks /nitpick
But kitten stealth yo. Hate that.

Interesting debate.
“All I see out of it is “Crap, my build is completely countered by this team which I had no way of knowing pre-game. Guess I’ll just take it up the pooper for 5-10 mins and eat the loss”.”
First thing I thought when I read this was: well, this is classic GW1, so why not continue the trend.
Anywho, I too think swapping builds midmatch needs some serious restrictions, so that the game doesn’t revolve around macro’s / gear micro management. That’d be bad imo. I guess the only true solution is to forbid any kind of build swapping, yet not feeling the downside due to excellent balancing by Anet. Probably an impossible scenario ;p
I kitten you not.
You know the advertisements on youtube that you always click away asap? It was one for selling gold safest & fastest on guild wars 2. Wtf is wrong with the world? XD
Just wondering what’s up with this. Occasionally / quite often, random creatures like wargs and harpies suddenly become immune to damage (but not Determined or anything of the sort), and if you try to hit ‘em it’ll say ‘Invulnerable’. They stop fighting at this point too. Stays like that for about 10 secs after which they’re no longer invincible and start fighting back too. It’s kind of like the hp regen npc’s receive when they stray too far from their spawn point and retreat, except there’s no straying in this case at all.
So what’s this then?
Deff not in PvP. Neither in PvE imo, unless kitten is bugged. If it’s working properly, Break stun and/or stability outta there.
This is a pretty straightforward complaint.
Apparently when using the mystic forge you can get items that are soulbound on acquire. That’s probably because they look like a typical karma reward (with the additional text under the stats), and karma rewards are generally soulbound. But….
it’s pretty dumb to get this kind of items through the forge. My warrior got a soulbound on acquire light armor piece and the only thing I can do with it is destroy it >.>
So this is a suggestion too I guess: remuuuuve that thaing.
Can the limit be increased for bleeds only? Wouldn’t the limit be increased for all conditions? If so, mind you that the likely reason that the current limit is in place is to avoid gross “OPness” when stacking might or whatever (250 stacks of might yayuhz). For consistency’s sake they should raise the limit for all conditions only, not boons. (= for bleed, vuln and confusion)
Please keep society’s imperfections out of our perfect little digital world :p

Well, this thread is awkward. Like Hellkaiser, I don’t see the issue: noone demands your attention at all times. And if they do, they are in fact being rude and you have every right to let them know. Besides, what’s the biggie in just ignoring people and saying you were AFK / missed it due to spam or w/e, should you be confronted with it? Desiring full anonimity really comes from inept social abilities if you ask me. Now if Anet should encourage asocial behaviour through full anonimity as a way to support these kind of players, I’m not sure. However imo I dont think they should, as they very clearly want GW2 to be a social game and doing so would go against their design philosophy. And if you absolutely can’t deal with that, you should play a different game. Or delete all your contacts and leave your guild.

Honestly, no. What necro has viable access to burn and to a lesser extent confusion?
No shee like “Boiling Blood”. If anything make the Flesh Golem a fiery demon from hell that burns with each attack. But really, just no. And no you don’t need these conditions to be viable.
PvP being forced down your throat? Could just as well say PvE is being forced down the PvP’ers throat: daily’s and monthly’s aren’t strictly PvE only. Not to mention calling this ‘forced’ is a huge exaggeration.
(And don’t worry, no elitism in WvW)

Agreed with redscope. Makes sense to make yourself unstealth the moment you start to act, not the moment your action finishes.
…and all the other possible effects on leaving DS.
What sAdam said. 1 sec cooldown is in fact yet another necro nerf. The best response to this ‘problem’ is: l2p. Which goes for me as well since I mess up too occasionally.
Yep, OP is definitely wrong. Necro’s downed is average at worst. The worst down state, by far, in contrary to OP’s point of view, is the ele’s, since the ele doesn’t even have access to an interrupt (against stomp). So as usual unwarranted necro hate as per the hype train.

Additional F-buttons could work, but none of them should involve minions. That’s because by doing so you force necro’s to use minions (and to a lesser extent minion traits) for maximum efficiency. GW1 necro didn’t need minions per se, neither should gw2 necro. Seeing how necro comes from the greek word for ‘dead’, an ability called “Death Shroud” suits the necro just fine. “Mancer” does not equal “Ressurector” or w/e.
Necro doesn’t need an entire overhaul at all….DS is unique enough as it is. And imo to make DS viable for conditionspecced is just give lifeblast 3 stacks of bleed per. Problem solved much? Fix bugs, adjust traits a bit, adjust numbers on moves a bit, and you’re done.
Lack of combo finishers is just a characteristic. You dont need them to be viable, they just help. Plenty of combo fields to be placed by necro tho imo.
I honestly feel like necro hate is way overly exaggerated. Yeah they need work, no not that much. Am I the first to introduce the word theorycraft to you? You’re all doing it pretty badly, putting it nicely. Also, Haste is a Thief skill. The effect is called quickness. And no, quickness is not a prerequisite for viability.
Well w/e, quitting the game entirely and logging in again fixed it. Still weird tho.
..certain items. My huntsman is suddenly, randomly, no longer capable of making any kind of Longbow stave and rifle stock, and lost the ability to refine any kind of wood plank. Likewise, in the leatherworker section, I can only make one kind of req 75 insignia (which is the Vigorous Wool Insignia). What’s going on?
Same issue for me. Only Trahearne will follow me to the barrier. Tried reloading after dying, but to no avail. I even just walked all the way round the ruins to the other side of the barrier, but nothing happened either (Trahearne didn’t follow me either for whatever reason // he might be dead atm)
Also, there’s a blue dot on the map (indicating ‘ally follower’ ), but there’s noone there. It’s at the entrance of the cave.
Rezzed the only guy i could find who needed rezzing (Golem asura dude outside the ruins) but didn’t change a thing. Given up :p
Bit of a shame to have such long missions end like this.

One class being overpowered or all the others being underpowered is basically the same thing. Nonetheless your suggestion makes sense, as every class should ideally be able to beat every class, in as many different builds as possible. (Good luck with that though XD)
It works. Doesn’t heal for much without proper spec
+ Could use an animation though
Mesmers got GS, let Necro’s have Greataxe YEABOI.
This game has lots of room for new weapons, but of course they’d need thought put into em. For example crossbow doesn’t sound too plausible to me because really, in this game a crossbow would be the already existing rifle in disguised as a bow. Greataxe sounds cool tho.
What’s the point of incarceration if in the end, convicts get released without any other form of punishment?
I like this idea. What comes mind for me is how they did it in Call of Duty: press V to initiate, then 1-<number> for category and 1-<number> for command. Could be done very quickly if you knew the combinations.
There’s prolly a multitude of ways to do it effectively though.
Mind you, the classes can be diverse and still balanced. Maybe ele’s are supposed to be garbage when downed, whereas thiefs get teleports. Downed is still a part of the class after all.
Now I for one encourage diversity, but balance needs to be tight to make it all work.
According to wiki, stability does not grant immunity to fear http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stability
..which is a bug. Although the most sensical of course would be that condition removals remove conditions and cc breakers break cc (captain obvious); ie. cc break shouldn’t remove fear. And no stability shouldn’t prevent blind, unless that is bugged too.
These are among the groundrules that constitute GW2. Changing things up would be weird (and difficult?). Immobilize does come off more as a cc than a condition though so idk.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad.
We’re supposed to play this game for a long time, you shouldn’t be able to max out everything quickly.
Well no1 likes paying more. Anet has deemed it healthy to the economy apparently. Which it could be. 15% seems slightly too much to me but what do I know.
Reanimator is complete garbage atm. Rest of the minion’s are fine imo.
Bone fiend can immobilize (rigor mortis), bone minions provide the necro’s biggest burst damage (putrid explosion). Wurm & Necrotic traversal: Mediocre turret + break stun teleport + combo finisher blast + aoe poison = how can this be a bad skill? (Although i usually end up leaving the wurm behind and then realizing i have to use NT and then let it recharge b4 i can cast it again, kinda silly). Shadow fiend & Haunt is the worst minion in my current opinion. Haunt gives little bang for the buck in cast time.
Please stick to bugs and not what you think is unbalanced. There’s a lot of stuff here I didn’t know and don’t wanna see this thread get locked too..
Worry not, Plague is a pretty OP skill in my opinion (:
Skills that cannot be used underwater have an explicit icon of a red cross through a drop of water. Flesh Golem is one of the skills that cannot be used underwater.
No1 mentioned Reanimator yet? Jagged horror summoned by that trait lose about 20% max health per second, making them last for about 5-6 seconds. Utterly useless; worst trait in the game.
Minions not having regen could very well be intentional btw. Played GW1?
