3.2 hrs/day since headstart
and I don’t even consider this game that good
Yikes :P
Eles and engis have both a trait that makes them immune to condition if a certain health threshold is satisfied. Whether this is op or not doesnt really matter. But what matters it is not good game design.
This is what the thread is about. Not about whether the current Diamond Skin is OP or not, whether it can be worked around, whether its a l2p issue etc etc etc. Y’all stupid.
What I want for diamond skin personally:
Diamond skin: Gain immunity to specific conditions based on your current attunement
Fire: Burning, Cripple
Water: Vulnerability, Chill
Air: Blind, Weakness
Earth: Immobilize, BleedOr something along those lines.
Very cool idea, still a strong trait and not as polarizing as immunity to all conditions.
Issue isn’t related to mesmers specifically. Many teleports are flawed this way. Doesn’t mean all teleports should become Savage Leaps, just means teleports should be fixed.
Why don’t necros have weapon based movement skills?
Necro’s design is to be slow juggernauts
Why don’t necros have more active defenses?
Death Shroud
Why don’t necros have more combo finishers?
Possibly because they do have plenty of combo fields.
I guess also ’cause few of the necro skills are whirls, leaps and projectiles. Which leaves blasts. And if warhorn shrieks are blast finishers (warrior, ranger), then anything is possible….
In regards to cleave:
Daggers dont cleave, and daggers are the only melee weapon necro has. Ranged single target attacks never cleave either. I think necro’s especially are designed around an idea of how they should be, rather than a balance perspective (which is not inherently bad).
I wouldn’t expect a direct nerf to zerk, since that wouldn’t change zerk’s relative position to the other gearsets: all stats geared towards offense is still preferable to only one or two towards offense.
I guess what I’m expecting is less vitality, more toughness for mobs in order to improve condition builds. Even then, I don’t think direct damage and cond damage are on equal terms, since there’s no CONDAMpowerprecision gear (not to mention the 25 conditions cap).
It offers no solution either to the gaping hole problem that is vitality and toughness gear. If you introduce weak auto attacks on mobs: is it not so that if you “counter” that with vitality and toughness, the fights take longer (because less offensive stats), which means you take more hits, which means there was no justification for taking more defensive gear? I can’t imagine any scenario where V or T is optimal for a dungeon run.
Not quite so with Healing Power, still hope for this one. I can envision a future where e.g. a cleric (more accurate: a HPpowerprecision which doesnt exist atm) Guardian is included in an optimal dungeon party. Inevitable in this scenario is however “LF1M support guard”, which is against the original premise of GW2.
Very nice, you make it look easy.

Rare drops per area could work. It’s what was used for incentive to play dungeons in GW1, and frankly I thought the system was fine.
People complained though that it would be better if there was a sense of progress, instead of constantly hoping you’d hit the jackpot. The solution: tokens!
So sticking to GW2 philosophy, we shy away from rare drops, and instead use tokens. Same principle can be applied to open world content. The fact that we have yet another token to gather isn’t so bad since we now have a huge wallet, I’d say.

I think a DE token system would be great. If you give each map its own token you’ll at worst get efficient farming on every map., which is pretty great compared to the current situation. The hard part is making the tokens valuable.
First step to that would be to make whatever you can get with ‘em account bound.
Secondly it would need to be something that people value. I’m thinking unique weapons and skins for every map, but understandably that would take too much effort. Perhaps a new ascended material needed for ascended armor? Where different kinds of armor stats would require different zonetokens. Or maybe – I’m making this stuff up as I’m writing – you trade your tokens for 4 colors of ‘keys’ (compare to the current LS Nightmare keys), which then can be thrown into the mystic forge for a massive array of sellable miniatures, most likely getting cheap ones but always having the possiblity of hitting the jackpot.
Takes some creativity to think of something actually valuable, but options are there. The end result is sweet though; people everywhere actually going out into the open world.
Eh old system makes more sense to me, since new mechanics are introduced at lvl 10, 20, 30 etc, and with more difficult mechanics should come greater rewards. Lvl 10, 20 etc give new mechanics but old rewards. Remind me not to play on those levels :P
Is that quote correct though?
Today I did a lvl 20 fractal run and a lvl 14 one, yet only the first one gave me a daily chest reward. How come?
I’ve been planning to get Volcanus for a while, but frankly I don’t think it’s worth it (anymore) since it’s not ascended quality. Transmuting its skin on an ascended wep seems like a waste to me.
Spoj is right, templar.
If you wanna be a dps necro, why opt for extra vitality, toughness and healing power?
If you didn’t want the discussion you shouldn’t have falsely accused me of sexism :p.
Anywho, I’m not against titles such as The Empress, but I doubt it’ll be implemented (not enough reason to), hence my earlier response.
If I were you I’d consider the word ‘emperor’ unisex. Most female counterwords aren’t even necessary.
Hey all,
Completed the Light up the Darkness achiev today with warrior and because I felt like the build I used was solid, and also because I don’t have anything better to do, I’d like to share
It’s pretty basic really. Phase 1 should be of no issue. After that her cripples were often the death of me. So my first thought was -cond duration food and dogged march, but didn’t really seem to work well enough for me. So I took another look and what do I see: Cleansing Ire. Just what I needed. Would need to make sure I have plenty of adrenaline to use my bursts skills though. How? Well, I came up with Berserker’s Might + Signet of Rage?! The strength gm trait that noone uses and the passive effect of signet of rage that noone uses combine excellently to give you enough adrenaline for using your burst whenever you get crippled. The bursting weapon of choice is Longbow, so you can cure cripple and damage her while running away from her. As for the other weapon, I personally used Axe/Shield but also doable should be GS or X/Shield. I recommend a shield though, so you can more easily pick a moment to lure one or multiple visions into the light.
Anywho, the end result:
Strength 30: III (nothing better), X (Nothing better), XII (!!)
Arms 10: II (!! Crucial swiftness obtained through this trait)
Defense 20: IV (?! If you tag a vision that then hits you, you instantly rez! The only time ever that this trait is good?!), IX (!!)
Tactics 0
Discipline 10: III (very good in general, but doesn’t work while wielding a Longbow)
(for your convenience: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_warrior_traits)
Heal skill: Healing Signet
Utilities: Endure pain, Signet of stamina, and Hidden Pistol (?! Nifty find by myself in my honest opinion. For those who aren’t Charr, I recommend Dolyak Signet or Fear Me).
Elite: Signet of Rage (passive only!?)
Gear: Full zerker, though I suppose condition build should work too.
Food: Lifesteal on crit, but choose +endurance regen if you reckon you need it.
That’s about it. Hope this can be of use to anyone, and good luck throwing those orbs ^^
I’d buff Backbreaker differently: increase knockdown duration, true to the gw1 backbreaker.
Last hit of auto attack needs a special effect, blast finisher is the obvious choice.
All the other hammer attacks are fine imo, I suppose hammer 2 is indeed kinda boring.
I like how this is like half guide half complaining :P
But yeah.. dont have a guardian so… ;p
Wait, this isn’t a troll thread?
Same problem here. Need tremor, but it doesn’t exist anymore :p
Yeah, that would be vigor
You probably already looted it on any other character.
Quickness = Haste.
But rather you forget about “Haste”, the effect is called quickness.
People respond to incentives.
The dynamic event that uncontests the Balthazar Temple begins after 3 long ish chains of dynamic events in the Straits of Devastation. Unfortunately, the time spent on accomplishing this isn’t worth the reward. Therefore there is no progress in the area, and the Risen continue to claim the temple.
Now if you desperately want your cavalier trinkets, I suggest you rally your guild and get doing some events over there. But a more grand solution would be to improve rewards for doing the Straits events, which since release have not been popular. How?
I dare suggest yet another token system, since Anet is fond of them and the new wallet means inventory space is not an issue. Per Straits event completed you, get X amount of tokens, and with Y amount of tokens you can, say, trade them in for Pact weapons.
It should work to make the area more populated, as long as the reward is good enough and preferably unique to Straits of Devastation.
Feeling discouraged to use Alts? How about this fix: Diminished returns per character reset after a week instead of a day! #drenchtheirsorrowinflame
But seriously, +-200 tokens per day is OK. U can still get more runs per day if u want, but wouldn’t be time efficient. For me personally the changes mean I’ll be playing a wider array of dungeon paths, and since diversity is good I’d say that’s a positive change.
And still more seriously guys, don’t treat diminished returns like it’s a bad thing. It’s 2013. These comparisons to jobs? LMAO.
Why? Because they knew people would check the data file!

(not really)
what I see when I look at Evon’s portrait:

I’m not sure if this is still in the game but there’s a thief build thats more or less perma dodge. Worked in spvp so why not fractals? Let him distract the mobs so they don’t heal seal.

None of these nerfs are killing. Everything’s alright you guiseee
I for one would welcome a HPpowerprecision stat
As ESKan said I too feel like it’s too easy to stay first place once you get there. They dont have to deal with fake power ups and get to place plenty themselves, if possible at the cork screw jumps where the #2 is guaranteed to get hit by em.
This game needs mario kart’s flying blue shell
Guardian’s Burn isn’t actually blue though right? That’s just the torch weapon skill animations?
2k per is too much.
1k seems good to me. It’s about double of what it currently heals.
And yea healing while in DS should be possible. Would require some nerfs here and there probably, but still.
Anet always feared the possibility of gaining lifeforce while in DS, presumably out of fear that a DS necro would rarely have to expose his actual, large, HP pool. However as shown by the latest patch, which allows spectral walk/armor to continue when entering DS, their restraint went too far.
Such is the case for Reaper’s Precision, too. 33% chance to gain 1% on crit is just an extremely poor deal. 1% LF on crit would be a much more sensible choice. I doubt it’d be OP, but if it was, you could give it for example an internal cooldown of 1 second, or limit of amount of times it can tick per second (both limiting the amount you can generate through AoE crits).
CC is the best heal but only in pvp. It’s a testament to the necro’s former-supposed-now-realized status of master of conditions. Would hate to see it changed. It’s a pretty garbage heal in case no conditions are removed, which balances it out just enough.
Necro is FotM → every1 thinks necro is the best LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. This forum needs to grow up.
Imo (tpvp, capture the point):
Viable tier:
A. Guardian, Mesmer
B. Ele, Thief, Engi
C. Necro, Ranger
Unviable tier:
D. Warrior
Well, did you at least tell them it was a secondary account?
….Why do you have a secondary account?
These threads can always be expected.
Necro buff means people play necro to see what it’s all about. People then lose to necro more so because of the influx of necros than because of necro’s capabilities. Then they go on the forums to scream nerf. Shoo.
Ye this is all the time now on every server afaik.
To me to goal was to get a legendary. Which meant farm gold mostly. Now I got one. My new goal is to throw rares in the mystic forge xD
I think GW1 had its goals sorted out pretty well through its title system. GWAMM was what you we’re going for, which required stuff like vanquishing all of Tyria on hard mode (quite the task). You definitely had something to aim for when they introduced HoM.
GW2: no clear goal.
So… does a game need to have a goal? I think every game in existence has one of two goals:
1. Complete the game, or
2. Become the best.
The only exception appears to be MMO PvE: you can’t complete it because there is no finish. You can’t become the best because there are no set criteria for being the best. Is the richest person the best? The one with the fastest Lupi solo? The one with the most skill points? The one with the most legendaries? It is unclear.
So.. does a game need a goal? I suppose not…. but since most games have one it’s only natural to want one in MMO pve as well.
You could also mystic forge it, maybe make lotsa gold.
Being able to buy the wrong type of armor at least has the benefit of seeing how your char could’ve looked ;p
Ha! Noobs!
Dislike the long dodging parts at end boss but that’s it.
Stronger Bowstrings still exists. Enough for me to know stuff is incomplete.
Did you test or did you just read the trait text ingame which hasn’t been updated?
The old final thrust wasn’t a traditional final thrust at all: you could only use it after you’ve telegraphed it with sever artery and gash. The new one can be used on command, which is better.
The cons are there too, definitely. But be rational.
Stomp is now a stunbreaker that cant be interrupted. lets goooooooooooooooooooooo
Necro gets burn >>> booo conditionmancer nerfed
some people xD
me gusta patch, for other classes too
I can confirm the rumors. I hacked into the NSA database and found they had been spying on Ogden Stonehealer, who leads a doublelife as the leader of the Neo Stone Summit, who dwell under Arah. You can gain acces to their lair by completing Arah p4 and then talking to Ogden after each partymember destroys an Eternity in front of him. Once there you have the option to betray Ogden and fight him. However he is a dedicated healer in GW2 so it’s almost impossible to bring him down. Once killed he drops all precursors and 1 silver.
Stop hoarding. It’s having adverse effects on your health.
As a developer said:
If a Warrior is required to CC someone before they can damage them, then something is wrong with the class.
Undoubtedly quoted falsely or out of context, or concocted entirely, but anywho: a warrior isn’t required to cc in order to damage at all. The rule goes for just one of his moves, namely HB. And if HB requires CC for full effect, the move is not bad, but niche. And niche skills increase the depth of the gameplay.
