Can a Steal/Backstab work w/o Executioner?

I tried something like that but I personally started to miss having executioner, and you lose crit dmg as well and the 10% dmg with initiative boost. Some classes just do too much dmg or have too many shutdowns/heals that killing them as fast as humanly possible is much more preferred. ;s IE Warriors mainly. I ended up completely dropping shadow arts. I love all the steal traits but it’s kinda hard to mix them into a good damage build without dropping Shadow Arts.

I just run around killing NPCs, Dolyaks and Camps and either kill people who’re solo or pick-offable from small grps~ and generally ignore/avoid the gimmick troll stunlock warriors and perplexity spammers because they just waste my time and annoy me.

When I’m in a zerg I just shoot people down with shortbow aoes and quickly strike people down here and there with sword shadowstep. One of the best and most fun things for Thief in big group battles imo is running signet of malice and shadowstep into enemy zerg with daggerstorm going and shadowstep out when it ends or too many aoes take your HP low. A well placed daggerstorm can completely wreck a lot of people. You can also use steal and infiltrator signet shadowstep while spinning to keep positioning yourself around them if they keep moving away. If DS ends and my HP is still good I’ll just cluster bomb spam everyone around me. Probably not a good idea though if you have problems with lag in wvw. Malice does a desent job keeping you up (I still think it needs buffed though, so it can be half as good as warrior’s :P )

If you want to do supply stuff Shadow Trap makes running supplies much faster and you can spam swiftness on dolyaks with thrill of the crime. I have a lot of supply and build related perks going and arrow cart maxed because they’re just too much fun and our bow range sucks. :P Although as for Thieves being the fastest at those things, it’s not really true. Warriors, Ele and Rangers can cover a lot of ground, if not more. Though if the situation is right I can clear over 3600 range instantly with shadowsteps.

There’s plenty more but I don’t really like going into too much detail with anything though on forums because they have a knack of nerfing the most random things that work completely fine.

It’s to get rid of them a little faster. I fricken hate silk. Should be raised to like 50 or something and let it stack to 9999.

I NPC silk n leather all the time, it’s like bloodstone dust but worse. :O

I’ve even bought some from TP before and NPCs it just cuz of how much I hate it.

Even if used for ascended they probably wouldn’t change the drop rate from salvage so doesn’t matter.

Can anyone really see through the clutter?

The obscuring of target models by particle effects in this game are the worst I’ve seen. There’s a megadestroyer in there somewhere, you can sort of see his leg. This is with the option selected to make targets more visible.

Well, to be fair~ if a monster like this existed IRL and say everyone was throwing molotov kittentails (seriously?-.-), blasting flamethrowers and throwing bombs at it, there probably would be that much fire consuming the area and monster. Good thing fire doesn’t give off smoke in this game as it would IRL or nothing would be visible period.

My dyes have changed?

I didn’t even notice.
I just checked my T2 and it seems the pants pulse glow now. o.O
The boots don’t glow but dye darker than before. (I think there’s some small blotches or greenish blue on them too, even though they’re only dyed black and white).
I don’t have the body piece anymore to see if it’s changed.

They used to be a grayish shade (my skin color) that generally made me look pantsless, now they’re black and glow white. Apparently Abyss glows white.

Changing the glow color is pretty noticeable. Hmm, I have always been dissatisfied with the coloring look/options with the T2 so could be a good thing but don’t really have an opinion at the moment. Although I’m not sure I like the pulsing over the glow in dark method~ Maybe if I can find a dye closer to my body glow color, idk.

I honestly think Charr race is ugly enough, so there’s no need for grubs. and a race without limbs..how would the weapon animations for that work.. ? How would these grubs wield greatswords or bows anyhow?

Wat? Grubs are adorable. They’d look great in tiny hats and little coats while swinging around Greatswords that are duct taped to their head.

She is a bad Necromancer. She got owned during the first instance fights.

Really? Only Kasmeer went down once when I did it, and only because the Oratuss decided to focus AoE on her (even when she blinked out of it, he’d just put another one down on her right away). Or is there another instance besides the intro that I haven’t seen yet?

When I did it Kasmeer was totally fine, and Marjory died pretty fast and layed there majority of the fight. ;x

In the end she’ll start a huge war with her alliance of every hateful faction in the game and she’ll stand with all of them about to assault Lions Arch and destroy it. Then a Dredge accidentally steps on a Flame Legion Charr’s tail and an argument breaks out, then a table is flipped, a chair is thrown and the alliance turns on each other and destroys itself. Scarlet is either heavily injured and captured or killed in the crossfire.

Ok, they both have the same type of skirt, except Priory one is symmetrical and looks 100x better and doesn’t have tons of random junk stapled to it and huge S&M Biker boots. ;/ Not very alike at all. It would be pretty awesome to actually have cool armor on my Thief though but it’s not gonna happen. At least not till Cantha is released and they add Assassin armor into gem store.

She’s a great detective, she’s a good necromancer, and she knows a lot about poison… does that really sound so crazy?

Well, the previous event when she showed up made me think she was rather poor necromancer, with no abilities whatsoever. This is the first time someone mentioned she’s competent at anything.
Her being smarter than Logan did not say much – after all, pretty much anyone is smarter than Logan.

(just to be clear – i agree with you that she’s no Mary Sue. I just don’t consider her one for a different reason).

i’m not sure, if this is intentional, but the heavy armor looks weird on a sylvari avatar. unfortunately, i do not remember my avatar’s build nor do i have a total makeover, so i can’t check (but i think he’s somewhat on the “leaner” side, rather then heavy. not sure, though.

i uploaded images of the sylvari avatar wearing his normal gear, another with the heavy armor preview, and last the heavy armor preview on a human male avatar, for comparison.

Your shoulders are gigantic.

My Sylvari is the 2nd skinniest build.

I like plant weapons. Ilex of dreams is my favorite skin reskinned to my glow color.

I don’t believe people should be banned for language, opinions and ect even if it makes them look like a totally disgusting human being. I do however believe people should be able to totally block them out from themselves personally. So if the ignore function isn’t working, then it needs fixed. XD

A call to remove Hammer from Warrior

I ran into a Warrior in WvW who stunlocked me and pretty much insta pwned my Thief. I expected him to be some zerker nub or something and was gonna try to take him out quickly but didn’t get very far.

I went and fought him again focusing more on evading but when I did that it just made the fight more impossible because he regened and healed any dmg I did with hit and runs. I switched to soldier gear and tried to full offense him and he just melted through it instantly and with 3 stun breakers I still couldn’t get away from his stunlock.

He was also somehow able to catch up to me immediately after 2 full shadowsteps with all their gapcloser spam… I really don’t want to run D/P anymore but seems the game doesn’t give me a choice, not that I could do all that much either way other than escape a little easier. .-.

If Hammer warriors are going to exist as is, then for god sakes give me back my sword stun breaker. Every class is going to need a stun breaker that is spammable.

bad warrior, actually taking more than 0 DMG. My Warrior in Spvp can solo 6 people at once and still be at full health and down every single one of them. Learn2OPWarriorRegenNDefense.

And no, I’m completely serious. I don’t even bother playing any other class in Spvp unless I’m extremely bored. It’s just to easy to own everyone with little effort or focus.

Looking forward to more Warrior buffs in next few patches.

Not quitting just cuz it’s still my favorite playstyle and character. I am getting very very bored though with our very limited pool of builds and weapons. I’m trying to make things more interesting recently by dropping stealth and using nothing but shadowsteps and sword. It has it’s flaws, mainly with cond removal not existing in any of our non shadow arts traits, but it makes me feel closer to GW1 Assassins. RIP Cantha.

It’s a range set that requires you to be in melee range and it’s pure condition. Can also be used as a tanky set that generally isn’t needed for anything other than trolling with it’s survival power.

Direct damage is just far better on Thief for everything and P/D can’t achieve that. Other classes also do condition dmg better. They don’t have to run around hoping people step in caltrops to get 25 stacks.

I makeover kitted 2 of my Sylvari because of that bug. It’s probably too profitable to leave it unfixed. (I used gold tho.)

It wasn’t very noticeable at all on my main, unless you looked close enough in well lighted area, but it still annoyed me. Was really bad on my Necro. His eyes looked like the jelly inside them exploded.

The 2handed Axe is cool, but honestly the spin is it’s only good ability. I’ma stick with the Mad King Scepter. :P

The auto attack roots you in place and has a cooldown, the #2 charge is hard to hit anything with and the aoe fear forces you into a 2nd attack that leaps you forward, most of the time hitting nothing.

So, meow.

The main reason P/D is more functional is that most of its sustained damage comes from Vital Shot and the Sneak Attack (costing zero Initiative), which means you have more freedom to use the #2-#5 skills as you see fit. With P/P, Body Shot has to compete with Unload for Initiative and Unload will almost always win.

simple solution: nerf unload & sneak attack

It’ll happen eventually. Surprised it hasn’t happened yet. They’ll probably nerf Shortbow a few more times before then.

The main issue about the Sic’em thing is the fact that it just discriminates against a group of people. I find it offensive. Even if it was 100% useless the fact that it exist is just immoral.

That and it just adds to the annoyance of Last Refuge, because it’s a similar situation. Why isn’t that Trait removed yet? It’s been reported a billion times. What’s the point of testing anything if you don’t fix it when it’s broken?

They have nerfed every single viable thief pvp build this day… Thank You Anet! I can say one thing. I wish to see 1 major patch with no thieves notes, why? Because it would be the first real buff for thieves —-—>>> no nerfs.

on another note – they did kill the s/d build..one boon is not going to make a huge difference, it needed an spvp split so pve could still be viable. or reduce the kitten initiative needed for larcenous by 1 (not flanking)

I’d like having my 1 ini back since the skill doesn’t need to require 2 anymore.

I remembered them mentioning Vital Shot on stream, unless I was going crazy at the time. I thought they were going to rework that skill as well.

The immobilize is kinda meh and devalues Dancing Dagger on P/D even more, giving it less purpose. They seem very confused about what to do with Thief.

Thief Weapon skills are just all over the place and don’t make much sense for the most part. With the way we’re set up the only way to ever fix it would be when they change the entire game mechanics to let us change a weapon’s skills. That or they’ll have to somehow hybrid every single skill for strong pure cond and power/crit dmg builds.

Who cares about legendaries anyways, they are just a cool looking, huge grind skins.

They need to fuse the features of legendary and ascended together, with the exception of the stat changing part legendary have~

Both sellable but account binds w/o soul binding when equiped.

- scorpion wire ignores block/dodge and removes all adrenaline
- Needle trap ignores block/dodge and despawns ranger pet and puts them on a 4s CD
- Signet of Shadows ignores block/dodge, knocks necro’s out of DS and locks it for 4s.

Yes please, need some equality. Give us some skills to completely disable another class’s function and we can have some exciting GW2 rock paper scissors.

While he has a point with adrenaline.
Both Necro’s Life shroud and the rangers pet can be forced out by damage which we’re already capable of doing. Can’t say anything about Adrenaline though.

Thieves can be forced out of stealth by being downed while they’re invisible. ;/

I play a thief. I don’t PvP, just PvE. Did I deserve the nerf?

They could split nerfs between SPvP (which is whats causing universal sword nerfs) and PvE, but I think WvW gets in the way of that.

Destroy shadow trap: Just tested this thing out. You stunbreak on use. The enemy now actually has 1.5 seconds to stun you a second time. Not sure if I like it this way, but we’ll see.

And doggie/excalibur, I trained all the thieves in my guild and alliance guilds to use S/P and shadowtrap …

I prefer S/D.
