I cannot phathom why they thought sword builds were in need of a greater nerf after the Larcenous Strike nerf. S/D is officially dead in tpvp if this change goes through.
D/D is a fun build and in my opinion takes greater skill to pull of compared to D/P and P/D… but I don’t want to feel forced to play it.
I can’t honestly see anyone using sword in pvp after this.
I already switched back to boring D/D D/P full GC gimmick in spvp. Funny thing is first match I used it someone insulted me in /say after I killed them. ;/ Hopefully the time I’m done with everyone they start missing when I was S/D and always visible. Eventually I got bored though and finished my Glory grind on my Warrior doing 4 wins in a row with 0 deaths.
I really don’t want to switch back to Dagger in wvw and pve though. It’s just so boring now, I been using it forever and having more fun with sword nowadays.

They fixed Sylvari /cry animation as some point, don’t remember seeing it in any patch notes, but I’m making good use of it.
s/d evasion spec is op as hell. You had to see a proper nerf coming in one way or another.
OP as in being ultra squishy and die in one hit between dodges and being 100% vulnerable to conditions, no range capabilities (in spvp) and no stealth. The build has it’s strong points yet tons of weaknesses.
My Warrior can solo tank 6 people totally impervious to both crit and condition damage and dish out both forms of damage at very high numbers. 0 weaknesses. That is how you really define "OP. ";/ People need to get over their personal hatred of Thieves and look at things more rationally.

Added another time cast on a break stun (Don’t forget shadow trap), this is the pioint.
They will add a time cast even on shadowstep, because kids don’t like they can’t kill us.
Yes exactly try out shadow trap the cast time on it is absolutely disgusting even though the proposed cast time on IS 1/4 sec the idea of having it on S/x most important skill is WTF!!!
It was enough to make me stop using it. Took it off my bar and added Shadowstep. Can’t wait till that utility has a cast time next though. /sigh
Too bad I can’t take infiltrators stike off my bar and put something better there instead, but this isn’t GW1. Preferably something that removed conditions since I wont be able to with shadow return anymore.

D/D didn’t get nerfed. Increasing base initiative gain by 33% is a pretty big deal.
It’s more than a big deal. It’s a MASSSSSSSSSIVE buff to all thief specs.

As a warrior I take umbrage to being called “Aromatic”, pungent perhaps, maybe even going as far as seasoned, but aromatic was just hurtful Anet.
Should have rolled ranger. Only our pets smell, but we can stow them.

idk but I been getting hit by a bug in wvw and spvp that will lock me in place or make my weapon skills stop working. It’s got nothing to do with a cc/disabling ability either, somekinda mechanical glitch~ Sometimes I have to relog to fix it.
Go to The Mists~ Spvp area and you can preview armor from the lockers there.

Lotta people with Legendary most likely played and still play a lot so easier to see them around all the time I guess. Some people are practically handed them as well by getting lucky enough to get 2-4 precursors from MF. The joys of RNG.
but it’s not like all of them are amazing or worth it. I got the Incinerator on my thief and didn’t care about any of the other ones. ilex of dreams is cooler than bolt to me personally, as is the original TA sword I used previously. The only other legendary I adore enough to want is Frostfang but Thief and Guardian can’t use it and I don’t care for it on Warrior~ Axe is pretty neglected overall.
I may of worked on Kudzu if it was a Shortbow but the Yellow Super Adventure bow is awesome enough and shows off how much of a ninja/masochist I am.
I love sword too but it feels like I’m not allowed to use it.
I think ANet should remove stealth from thieves to balance them out.
If this were reddit, this would get downvoted into oblivion. Currently stealth is the only thing that makes thief’s unique. Without stealth, all a thief would be is the rangers kid brother, who’s too little to even use a proper bow or have a pet. Seriously, they don’t have any range, can’t damage spike like the heavy classes, are 3rd place in condition application behind necro and mesmer, and don’t have the strategic skills that the engi’s use. Thief can only jump out of the way, and soon, we won’t even be able to do that. I run a p/d condi build, and it just works “ok”. We need some knockdown skills like the sin did in gw1, or some way of leveling the field, because currently, we’re at the bottom.
I’d trade off stealth if it meant improving Steal, giving us an F2 and reverting all the Shadowstep nerfs, and improving it in general.
Would be nice to move us out of the squishy phase too, Assassins in GW1 weren’t squishy and could block tank everything. Actually lets just delete Thief and bring back Assassin. Thief was a nice idea but it clearly isn’t working out for anyone.
Assassin reward buff is 100% useless to me since it cost an insane amount of points.
Using Trickery as a non condition build is forbidden I guess.
The Bloody Prince isn’t the only one weak to candy corn element.
I started lvling a Guardian. It’s pretty fun, and at least I can still shadowstep. He’s lvl 30 atm, from exp scroll and wvwvwvwing.

after reading so much QQ i think the main problem is that no thief is actually doing something which demonstrate what anet have done to this class.
all the videos out there showing short clips of thieves doing 1 -2 movement burst against uplvl / pugs or doing some permastealth abuse and not any single video against OP warriors/guardians or perplexity engineers or PU mesmers that pretty much can take us easily or stay alive soucking our dmg while running away
sure every class have few great players who can do wonder in any situation.
but what do you expect anet to do if the only videos out there showing how thieves are strong?so pls ppl start to make videos of you doing 1v1/2/3 and losing or fighting against perma vigor classes or bunker builds while being useless, or fighting with a group while standing alone aside while the necros harvest all the bags from you
So what I understand from your post is Anet is only listening to QQs and seeing Thief Gank videos and never actually playing the class or testing any of it anywhere beyond the stationary spvp mist target dummies.

I love Wintersday. Snowball fights were always my favorite in GW1. Wish they’d bring back yellow disease ridden snowballs though. Hitting people with them was so satisfying.
Looks very abaddon’ish. I hope Anet release tormented weapon skins one day, similar or identical to those in GW1

Well at least they are buyable on TP now, even though I’d prefer them actually in-game. But that would be RNG anyways so not much difference; like the new TA path weapons. Glad I got the sword off TP before it shot up by 200+ gold when supply went low. Farming for it was too much effort.
Anyways, personally I like Scarlet and seeing more LS of her is expected since her part of the story hasn’t closed yet. Those of you who hate Scarlet, well that’s still a good thing. She’s a villain after all, if you really hate her that much then she’s doing her job.

With this landslide of Thief changes, I’m surprised to see that Last Refuge is still untouched. It’s an extremely problematic trait that gets you killed most of the time. If you intend to punish stealthless builds by gimping the majority of their only forms of survival the least you could do is fix this horrible Shadow Arts trait that makes me hate the entire trait line.
My wvw sword build personally revolves around steal and uses 30 trickery and there’s really no room for acrobatics or shadow arts unless I want to have no damage output whatsoever. With less ini and less vigor I’m getting less survival with nothing to replace it with. I’m not even sure 30 trickery will be possible after the change. There’s also no way to combat conditions outside of Shadow Arts.
I’d really enjoy being able to focus on a steal and shadowstep only build and this would make it much harder to do. Unless the devs can offer advice on a solution this patch would offer, if any devs have ever tried playing this way.

I would absolutely love some form of a decent condition removing trait that doesn’t require stealth. I like the Kleptomaniac one the most, :P I want to be able to use 30 trickery w/o shadow arts and not have 0 survivability against conditions.

This was a nerf done a very long time ago. Some shadowsteps were as reliable as mesmer portals, but we’ve been banned from such convenience and the skills’ve gotten buggier.
Currently what annoys me the most is when I leap into close range of many people to take out someone of low HP in an extremely risky maneuver that requires shadowstep to survive~ and then when I use it I get bugged out by an immobilize after I tele and rubberband back into the enemies and instadie.
The nerf isn’t related to the stomp mechanics, it’s not why they did it. Yet if they have nothing against shadowstomping they’ve destroyed it unintentionally. It’d be another way of forcing stealth onto stealthless builds since CnD stomp would be the only option, which people hate more than Shadowstomping.
On another note. Incomming Shadowstep utility nerf with cast time.

Maybe I should whip out some trap builds again. Maybe I’ll get needle trap nerfed and make the devs look supicious.

YOu need to be clearer. I honestly cannot understand what you wrote.
Sword is extremely vulnerable to condition damage when built around evasion instead of stealth.
In desperate situations you can spend ini on shadow return one or more times to quickly drop some, but it’ll have a cast time now, making it take longer and cause even more risk. Signet of Agility alone is practically useless when you have a million necro and/or mesmer conditions on you. Meow.
They’re doing the same pointless nerf to sword that they did to Shadow Trap, a completely innocent utility skill barely anyone uses.
I actually use Sigil of Generosity to reduce the condition hell I face but since it procs regardless of if you have them on you or not it doesn’t always work out. It’s awesome when it does though, wish they’d buff/fix it. :x

So, what do we do? We make a stink.
You will NEVER make more of a stink than thieves made for themselves from the perspective of seven other class communities.
Perma-stealth needed to die in fire.
Off-meta builds get some love with faster general initiative gain and a few scattered buffs to traits that have nothing to do with stealth-heavy builds. Thieve experience more risk from certain types of builds while still remaining hands down the class most capable of disengaging from any fight at will.
The endless refrain to people driven to the brink of hysteria by thieves’ bloody IMMORTALTY via stealth has been “learn to play”.
Learn to play.
People will always complain because in the end they have no desire to learn. They want their kills handed to them and so long as they want that they are going to be bad players.
If I was anet, I would make sure:
1.) At least one of my devs mained every profession.
2.) Those developers theorycraft the kitten out of those profession and give me reports on the condition of every stat, skill, profession exclusive and trait.
3.) Once a month, we collaborate about metas between professions and sand them down so that they don’t remain a meta.
4.) That the classes enjoyment is based on the playstyle instead effectiveness. This means that everything will be effective in everything more or less, depending on the class.
5.) That once the classes are close to how I like it, that they are not touched again until additions are made and the devs tell the screaming little kids THEMSELVES “We are not going to be doing anything to this profession until we add something to it. If you are having trouble with a profession, the best way to learn how to fight one is to either train with your friends in sPvP or roll one. Again this profession is good where it is.”Because I would rather see something working right than just shut little kids up.
I wish developers would post some wvw and spvp videos of their Thief build ideas~ kinda like what League of Legends does with Champion spotlights. I’m very curious about how they play and how they want to and think they should play.
I do realise that thief is in poor state compared to other fotm classes, but … when looking from thief vs thief perspective, D/P HAD IT COMING BIG TIME. So many blinds + huge easy to access stealth uptime = ultimate counter to other stealth based power builds as d/d and s/d. Blinds + Easy to access pulsing stealth combined with SE -ultimate counter to p/d condi build.
Stealth uptime was due to a camera bug though. I guess they couldn’t fix that bug and improvised.

It’s defiantly forced on us pretty hard if you want condition removal unless you want to spam all your ini on shadow return. If you happened to switch to shortbow and get hit with lotsa cond, well you’re screwed. S/D is pretty squishy since you don’t do much dmg without zerker. 1/2 evade is pretty weak.
We have pretty limited access to movement speed, and our shadowsteps except for one require a target so it’s not a good escape if you don’t have one. The return on the Utility is such a short duration and shadow trap was nerfed for some reason~ I’d like it if they did something to improve shadowstep builds to be able to replace stealth easier. Allow Infiltrator signet to move you w/o target? Allow you to shadowstep to allies like in GW1? Add ability to steal from allies? Faster movement with a sword~ more HP with a sword? Buff signet of malice again?
Could go for a fix for rubberbanding shadowstep bug when you get immobilized or stunned while casting it.
Cuz they have a 2week release schedule and already have the next event planned and it’d be a week late if they waited for Halloween to end. It’d throw the entire LS schedule into dismay.
I’m fine with just rubbing down peoples’ soft faintly warm dying bodies, as it is now.

I’m just wondering, where are the male/male pairings? Correctly me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I’ve seen a single one in this game. Lesbians are cool but gay guys are icky, is that supposed to be the gist?
There’s a very obvious male/male couple at the beginning of the Sylvari Green Knight storyline. Only one like that I can recall though.
Its the main cast are either lesbians lovers or single
Which one are ? No DE member is in a relation as of now, and no world leader is either. Is there any lesbian couple in the main cast I don’t know of ? A confirmed one, I mean. The closest I see would be Caith and Faolain, but those broke up years ago (before even Braham, which I’m told “don’t count” :p )

Sylvari can’t be gay or not, they don’t even have real genders, they’re plants. And “genders” is just game mechanic and copying of humanity being.
They do have genders, fully functional genders, they just lack the proper fluids. :o

The obscuring of target models by particle effects in this game are the worst I’ve seen. There’s a megadestroyer in there somewhere, you can sort of see his leg. This is with the option selected to make targets more visible.
Well, to be fair~ if a monster like this existed IRL and say everyone was throwing molotov kittentails (seriously?-.-), blasting flamethrowers and throwing bombs at it, there probably would be that much fire consuming the area and monster. Good thing fire doesn’t give off smoke in this game as it would IRL or nothing would be visible period.
This is not IRL. If it were, all those player characters would be killed by friendly fire.
Not if it was magical friendly fire.
The writing is truly getting worse and worse.
It felt very forced and out of place, I have to agree with it being quite poor writing.
Maybe part of her personality as a character is saying forced, out of place things?
