How about just having a “Sigil of Rework?” Which would scramble the enemy’s skill functions when it procs? …and for example; when it procs on a Thief it nerfs all their skills and slightly buffs Venoms. :o

medium’s pretty decent, the top will likely be on quite a few toons at the least with it not being a trench coat.

I like the medium armor, it’s like a tunic instead of a coat. Good enough since Anet will never drop their man-skirt fetish.

Too bad it makes my male Sylvari’s butt look huge. Must be another fetish.

I’ve kittening had it with this bullkitten trait. I can’t believe how many times it’s got me killed.

1200 range is necessary in all game modes if only because it helps you do what flanking is meant to do: get you away from melee enemies while still dealing some degree of damage, and possibly causing your enemy to overextend or flee.

1200 range is very unnecessary in pve, im all for forcing everyone to have a max of 600 range in pve

Run all fractals @ level 40 without using ranged weapons and color me impressed.

Until then ranged weapons are a mandatory element of PvE many encounters.

You can argue about what’s necessary and what’s not since most of the stuff in this game is either easy or doesn’t punish you for failure.

But still a Thief loses quite a bit of his DPS due to his 900 range limitation. And I just don’t see any justification for it.

Mine took like half a year. Didn’t really rush anything, just did daily stuff such as Dungeons (mainly CoF, and HoW), Orichalcum/Ancient wood runs and Dragons. Sometimes I farmed beast blood in frostgorge. This was before champ trains, dragon timers and such. I got a Precursor drop from chest though, which I sold and bought Spark for 150g. The good old days. I didn’t really work towards it at all till I got Precursor but I have a habit of hording everything I find. At this point I realized I have enough crap rotting in my bank to make another one without too much money needed. I’d recommend people to just do what they do and just save/horde stuff till you end up with a precursor somehow. XD

It’s not acceptable. o.O No one accepts it~ except Anet I guess. But they don’t play or test Thief beyond The Mist training zone so it doesn’t matter to them.

Some bosses are almost impossible to melee because their melee attacks allow them to 1-shot you often.

thats why the dodge button was invented or why a guardian spams aegis and even adding that in, its still more efficient to melee every boss in the game

Pfft, Dodging reduces DPS. That’s why you make a 5 Zerker Guardian/Warrior group.

I personally would never buy the same skin twice for any reason. It would just feel awkward for me. So whether they make this change or not it wouldn’t effect their income from me. Although it WOULD make me more likely to buy multiple different skins.

Reading what people are proud of I just need to say that if I where a game designer I would stay completely away from the forums.

Well if you want to be like that, a “proud one” would be my 3rd highly rated that actually made it into a game update that made GW2 life much easier for everyone…

A Hero menu tab that your tokens all automatically go into the same way gold/gems does. Who wouldn’t like that idea? :o They can even keep the icons same size to make the menu look pretty.

Well, there’s this post that I absolutely love the fact that it’s one of my highest rated because apparently there’s a lot of Suikoden lovers out there. It was a thread of someone saying GW2 was the best “Game” ever made.

Well it’s the best MMORPG currently, as was GW1 imo. So yeah. Dunno if you could say it’s the best GAME ever played though, as Suikoden 2 holds that title still.

The usual answer is to play a thief. At first you’ll get your butt kicked again and again because stealth isn’t the perfect solution that you imagine it to be. Once you’ve found out how to play a thief properly you’ll know all the counters and be able to deal with them when playing another class.

I played thief since launch and know everything of how it functions. Thus this is applied to any alts I play and they end up steamrolling the poor lil guys.

I dunno but if you stop playing for a long period of time like 6 months+ or something. When you come back you have a MF boost and almost always find something amazing. This has happened to like 4 of my rl friends. XD They play again for first time in decades and find something that has never dropped for me and never will.

Anet doesn’t want to split game types (ie. balance properly) so therefore, unfortunately, I don’t see this happening.

Any good builds for thief commanders?

You could do fine survival wise in soldier armor and signet of malice w/ whatever build you’re using if you want to make absolute sure you don’t die. One main issue for a Thief commander in large scale battles is we have no access to stability to lead charges into and through zergs of enemies. There’s Daggerstorm but it has long CD and disables all your other functions.

I don’t really use my tag unless I want to draw people to a specific point for something~ then I turn it off when it’s finished. I do however follow other commanders pretty tight and do fine on the front line~ mainly because of my ability to be the first into the battle and the first to escape, if need be. This won’t be as enjoyable/possible after Sword nerf though and all I got is Shadowstep utility, which will be nerfed too. I use S/D 10/30/0/0/30~ very offensive hit/mutilate and retreat style with team support buff spam, catching runners and ripping boons. Malice, Shadowstep, Infiltrator Signet and Agility Signet/whatever else u wanna use. TOo much fun atm to use anything else, till Dec 10 probably kills it.

Fought some mesmers/guardians last night..

Got my Guardian to 80. He’s so fricken powerful even with no defensive gear, it’s crazy.
It’s worrying me about my Thief main now. I’m actually killing 2-3~ people easily solo with no need for dirty tricks and tactics. Just straight up brutality.
It also felt wonderful to completely all out WRECK a hammer stunlock warrior so hard that I felt like I could hear his tears. Thieves hit him like mosquitos and conditions are like they’re just covering me in friendly low in sugar koolaid. o.O This is what happens when you play the developers’ favorite class and mascot of game.

Oh and I actually get more than one viable weapon set and no trenchcoats. >.<

All they did with mine was remove the glow. The color change (turning it from gray((skin tone)) to black) is still in effect. :o Kinda strange.

As a male of any race we have absolutely 100% ZERO. I hate it.

Why am I not allowed to wear pants/shirt. Why’s it so forbidden?

I have 8 characters, 5 are 80. I fully completed the Personal Story on my Thief (my 1st/main char) and I think I took my Warrior (alt #1) through the story up to the Cursed Shore part and stopped.

As for characters beyond that, I finished the personal story achievements for each race and the different order parts but I always lose interest once the plot reaches Orr/Claw Island. Choices beyond there don’t really change much so there’s isn’t much point in redoing the story from there after the first time. I’m not seeing anything new or gaining anything from it.

Maybe they should add hard mode missions like GW1 or something.

Also, I did some story stuff on my last 80 (my guardian I made a clone of my thief for when the thief class is deleted) to lvl him faster and I noticed some ‘cutscenes’ that I don’t remember. Did they happen to randomly throw in any LS style cutscenes into it?

I’m sure there’s plenty of female bewb armor for them to pick as it’s mesh.
It’ll probably be fine. I saw a Norn female wearing that HT3 yesterday and can see why some people are upset. Those melons looked like they’d crush my poor Sylvari to death.

For Males maybe they could use that necro lookin Karma armor in Fireheart so you can have a flaming cow skull head. ;s

I’d personally still prefer they’d scrap all of it and make an original design. They’re going to develop an unhealthy habit.

Useless Utilities

I used to like Shadow Trap just for messing around in WvW. Traveler runes opened up actual possibilities with it. But I assume I accidentally escaped an incognito anet dev in exactly 1 situation, causing him enough fury to nerf it. I don’t use it anymore because of the casting time.

Ambush is decent as far as pet survivability goes. Main Issue I always had with it though is having to target your enemy to get the Thief NPC to attack them instead of it automatically attacking the person who triggered it.

Needle trap is probably the most worthless utility I ever seen. I’ve tried to make use of it in many different situations and it’s just a stupid skill. I like the idea of having it, and tripwire, stay up and hit multiple people. I personally would rather they did power/crit dmg like a weapon skill, or DMG like Mug’s when triggered. I miss having actual damaging traps like Rangers in GW1, but you’re forced to spec condition on Ranger for that in GW2. Would be a good Thief opportunity to take that role. ;s

Tripwire is actually pretty useful when point bunkering in sPvP. Outside of that, pretty useless.

I don’t understand why anet dont just stick one of the old gw1 armor with effects in the gem store. they’d make way more profit with out complaints too. because that is what we the consumers want, and have stated many times. it also reduce their work load since they already got those armors.

I still want my Kurzick and Luxon Assassin armor or something like it. Q_Q

Looks like my Sylvari’s T2 pants don’t glow anymore. :o
I was fine with the glow, I just preferred it glowed in the dark instead of pulse at all times.

Ignore the big fatty with the Cannon I wish I could use.

Stay close/mid range of her and try to get his Cannon fire to hit her and it’ll weaken her shield.

My thoughts on the three new gemstore armor sets Flamekissed, Flamewalker and Flamewrath:

The good

  • Love the names. They made me super-excited to see the new armor sets in the PvP locker.
  • The price is ok. After the price for the unlimited gathering tools went up and the toxic skins were more expensive, I expected worse.

The not so good

  • Fire… again? What’s with the fire fetish, ANet? That’s like the fourth or fifth set of burning gloves…
  • Disappointed that it’s not new skins, but existing skins with added particle effects
  • Disappointed that the armor sets have no relation to the living story update (unlike the toxic, aetherblade and belated Rox/Braham skins).
    I am even more disappointed when awesome new skins are created and no story goes with them (viper set, magitech set…)
  • Using cultural armor was a poor choice for two reasons.
    One, Some people are understandably cranky that their already bought 100+ gold armor set is now in the gem store with added particle effects for less than half of what they spent (including transmutation crystals).
    And two, now the entire debate of making cultural armor sets available for all races will start again. So the concept of cultural armor is going out of the window, … when can I have heavy human T3 for my norn?

Room for improvement

  • This entire armor set, despite being old skins, would sell like hot cakes if the particle effect could be died. Most people I know in game are really really over fire/lava by now, but it would be easy to dye this into ice, mist, shadow, green necro magic, pink mesmer magic, or to go with their fractal weapons, dreamthistle weapons, etc. etc. etc…. I guess I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t make that happen. Players would shower you in money.
  • New gem store armor with particle effects could have been reskins of the PvP-only armor sets that players have been asking for for so long. (Soulmyr.8094)
  • New gem store armor with particle effects could have been reskins using of some of the popular NPC town clothes sets that players have been asking for for so long. (Celestina.2894)
  • Reskins of prestige armor such as cultural T3 could have been released (bit by bit) through mystic forge or crafting upgrades of existing (already bought) cultural armor pieces. (PopeUrban.2578)
    A gem store component used in the crafting/MF to enhance an existing piece of cultural armor to include particle effects would have been ok.
  • If you must put cultural armor in the gem store, do it for all sets. (Creativewild.6319)

The medium armor is based on WvW / Invader’s
The heavy armor is based on the Pitfighter set

This is what happens when you simply put too much effort into something RNG based. I already learned this lesson from Aion long ago. I gave up on fractals because RNG like that just wasn’t worth my time anymore. I got my back piece and bag slots so that was good enough. At least now they added the ability to pick the one you want so it won’t be as impossible. I’m not going to be going out of my way for it though.
