But why d/d and d/p? If you want two meele Sets go d/p + s/d. Or d/d + S/p
And for d/p you need Infusion of shadow for ini Management.
Also, if you have d/p or s/d Set you can use withdraw as heal.
Well…It does more dmg than minions, it does Same dmg Like Phantasms but Has much more HP, it Even Deals Same dmg Like rangers Pet outside of bm build. So yes…dat thing is too strong or Has too much vit.

For d/d – i guess 2/6/6/0/0 – id recommend traveller or speed (which seems better Atm).
For d/p you can use those too but Most ppl play it with a 0/6/6/2/0 build which uses fleet of shadow so These runes are kinda wasted. So, for d/p you can use str runes or pirate (dat bird crits Hard)

Why should there be a “anti thief” class? This game needs no further hardcounters. In fact, it shouldnt have hardcounters at all.
Revealed from enemy skills hardcounter a whole traitline from thieves (1 of 2 defensive traitlines). So, People really want 1 skill to completely counter 40% of thieves traitpoints.

Seems Like you have probs vs many proffesions.
What Kind of built are you playing? Necs Generally have little Problems with thieves, except Power Necs vs s/d. Good warriors are almost a hardcounter to Nec due to lack of stability no movement, dodges etc.
You shouldnt be able to flat out beat everything, this is called Balance. Vs some you have it easier while others beat you.
Dont complain bout evrything other classes have or can do, try to get better at this game. Poisen heals (especially withdraw), fear thieves out of shadowrefuge, rip stability from warriors, chill them, weaken them. Nec got plenty of Tools to stay alive a little longer until help arrives or Even beat the opponent.
I Would Like a phantasm as Elite.
Maybe a real phantasmal rogue. Grants 3sec stealth on usage, phantasm performs the downed skill atk (that backstab wnb). 20-30sec cd
If anything, revealed should be reverted to 3sec in pvp. That old nerf is outdated and was Done in the last Minute of releasing the Patch. All it does now is killing d/d and making p/d only mediocre.
It used to be a nerf to instagib d/d builts which now Dont exist anymore because of nerfed cnd, assasins sig and mug.
And for warriors, nerfing them to the ground (as you said) is Not the way to go. I Dont Like warriors, find them boring and to rewarding but your suggestions really destroy evry Single warrior built.
There is no guide. But You can go spvp and join a duelling Server. There you will find many s/d thieves and can watch them
Why Not just chain cnds? More dmg, less ini, more mobile.
Just be super zerker and trait executioner + trickery. Dont go for More than 2 in SA, you Dont want to wait 4sec in stealth.
I wish dB did more direct dmg Like 3x 336 (1.0)Base dmg, evade 1/2sec, no bleeds and Single target. Still 4ini
And ofc make it toggle another skill so that you cannot evade Spam. Perhaps “Immobilise your foe for 1sec” 1ini, no dmg 450 range.

Practically immune to conditions, which should be warriors weakness

Well…if you really want to be that Kind of thief…go full Dire gear, trinkets, weapons evrything, change built to 2/0/6/0/6 with perplexity runes, heal is hide in shadows or withdraw, utilities are shadow refuge / shadowstep / infiltrator Signet / Elite is basilisk venom.
This is the max possible ubertroll built.
I once used (Like many) ruby orbs and my only speed buff was fleet shadow. That was enough for fights.
But You know the reality of roaming, Its 90% running around looking for fights, 7% chasing down some helpless zerglings and 3% fighting enemies that fight back.
So i decided some time ago that traveller runes Would be better. Yes They were.
But speed runes seem now superior because you can use more zerker/cav armor because you get a Lot of vit from runes. Traveller stats are just…almost non existent
To answer your question: if you want to be fast at roaming and kill fleeing ones, use speed incr runes.
If you want duels and zerging only, go strength or so

Yes fleet of shadow is an Option if you Dont Like or cant afford traveller runes, or any other Kind of speed increasing runes.
Fleet of shadow Has a nice description but sadly you wont get +50% speed while ooc. Its capped at 33%.
You only get it while in combat.
It helps landing backstabs, which is extremely important for d/d builts because this Set Has only hs to close gaps (which Deals dmg and thus reveales you while you do it in stealth). D/p on the other Hand Has shadowshot thingy which Has 900range and the damaging Part can be canceled with any other attack. So…if you are in stealth and your enemy is lets say 765 units away from you, you could cast 3 on d/p and immediately press 1 (backstab). You will teleport to your enemy and backstab him.
You wont have time to reposition so this is mainly good vs fleeing opponents, but still…You get a 900range backstab on demand.
P/p was Always lacking (After beta). Nothing Has changed there
Well a few things changed, but ppl still cry for nerfs.
The hardest nerfs (changes) are: 3sec revealed increased to 4sec in pvp, instagip d/d nerfed to death in pvp, stunlock s/d nerfed to death in pvp, “perma” evade s/d is now less “perma” but still “perma” (according to warrior forum), less “permastealth” in wvw (but still too much according to warrior forum), the introduction of ferocity which replaced crt damage Hit backstab thieves in wvw a little.
Besides that, thief is in a good state and still viable, but ofc “op” (according to warrior forum)
I guess you canceled ir with a dodge roll. So you could use is twice in a row. Gonna test this for myself :-)
But i noticed you Always jump+dodge roll. Yea this Looks cool, some have a Makro for it, but especially for s/d Its impractical because the jump cancels slice (nr1 from AA) which Would occur during your dodge roll right After fs. So you lose dmg. Nothing too important but still…

My favorite Set is d/d, cuz style and Fluid. I Would love s/d if tactical strike was a little more rewarding.
If you are Not sure you will Hit the back, just Dont atk. Let your stealth Run out, cnd again, safer…more dmg than facestab.
Sb is still a good offhand weapon. If you face a decent engi you will need it.

Sometimes the dmg seems Not enough to win those scenarios. Well my offhand is shortbow Maybe Thats why.
I really love s/d, and I enjoy this built because you cannot Spam to win.
Just a little question, why do you Slot Blinding powder and Not infil sig? Vs the Most encounters Its superior i think. Infi sig+cnd offers the Same defensive effects Like BP but Its also a stunbreak, nice escape Tool, this combo does dmg, good for chasing and Its on a lower CD.
Hm Yea, i know about those “Tricks”. I just bought Travellers because lazy. I hope the dps loss is Not that big.

Hi, im running 6/0/2/6/0 with lb+gs in wvw (roaming only) with rune of ranger and i feel slow.
I want to finetune my equip a little (removing some soldier Parts for knights because my crit Chance seems a little low) and while doing this i want to know your opinion if i should take traveller runes instead of ranger?
Does anyone Run sotf build with Travellers?

Travellers will Not lose the speed buff. Afaik They get “buffed” Like celestial. 6% more stats but drastically lowered crit dmg (from 6 to 2)
Generally id say mesmer is very lag friendly, exceptions are shatter and lockdown.
Phantasms Do Not care bout lags
Im Not 100% sure if sigill rounds Ts daze to exactly 3sec, but it does make it longer. I tested it After the Patch on pve Mobs. Without sigill the daze ends before the 3rd AA strike, with sigill it ends at the end of 3rd AA strike (i guess this is ~3sec cuz Ts Has a long aftercast)
Sigill and Rune still Dont Stack, Same applies to 2x sigill of para.
S/d dazelock ( x/x/30/x/x) does very well against pu mesmers. At least for me
Just Dont Spam fs, use your shadowsteps wisely, daze them as often as you can (They cannot block/blurried frenzy while dazed)
1.yes Its still 2sec in wvw/pve
2.yes it rounds to 3 in wvw/pve
3.dunno if it still affects stuns

A nice idea. But escaping at max speed while dealing full dmg is a Bit strong. I think it should be at max 25% Not 33%. An enemy with swiftness could still catch you.
Would solve a Lot Problems with rangers bows
