No dont move SA 5. Replace it with something useful like removes condi on stealh trait. So d/d can have 2ini + blind traits. D/d needs love. Even after next patch d/d will Not be as good as d/p but harder to play.
nobody complains because that mesmer spec is not viable in tpvp. too much stealth to hold a point, no grp utility, too slow to roam. in wvw you can troll ppl with it, but as soon as someone decides to ignore you, he can just walk away and you will never catch him.
i love my thief, i almost exclusive play thief, but truth is…most proffesions /specs can not run away from a bursty thief.
i know about the warrior and its traits, tahts why i said “other classes have traits for IMS”.
swiftness on crit would be awesome on thief. just a little dream that will not be heard
There was a time when thief class was the only one with passive 25% ims. Now almost every class has it + traits so they dont even need to waste a utility slot for ims. Some got perma swift…
I dont say thief lacks mobility, but we could need a +25 % trait like other proffessions. Assassins retreat for example

S/d deals Not enough dmg on a stealth built, so you can only troll him with it. I use it at the beginning of the fight to daze him a few times while i can easily Dodge/evade/inf return his stuns. 90% of those warriors will press their stunbreakers after daze and their zerk stance right after they wasted their skullcrack on inf return. Thats the Moment i switch to d/p (or d/d). Blackpowder-AA-hs-Bs. Multiple times. just Stick on them and always have a bp under your feet and kite him in it. Save your stunbreaker for a Lucky skull crack/ES.
Well, act fs+ls is now weaker then ever before if you were able to land the second Hit via camera turn.
Oh yea…now it steals 1boon instead of just ripping…worth 1 extra ini? I dont think i nEED that retaliation that much and it seems its always the First i steal. You cant even Spam enough ls to get that tasty protection/stability
Yea you are wrong. They changed fs to fs+ls. Ls stole 2boons for 1ini…right after the buff. Then they increased the ini costs to 2. After that, they decreased the boons stolen to 1.
And of course thief gets nothing in return…its the stealth class.

its true. there are some cheaters in wvw. 2 days ago my guild and me found a warrior stealthing, porting around, 1shotting ppl 3000units away and using 3 weaponsets.
we didnt manage do kill him cuz evrytime he just ported away or stealthed (came back with full hp). dont say “runes blabla , thief nearby”…he was alone, he had a longbow , axe/shield and a hammer in the same combat. ever got set on fire, immediately stunned by earthshaker and then eviscerated to death? funny thing
but the best was really, when we finally found him again in the jp, wanted to jump down to him and my guildmate got oneshotted in midair. we did report him, but i think nothing will happen

turns your char into a wardian. you no longer need to be either war or guardian for zerging with your server, now you have the best of both.
Just dont buy These runes. Take ruby orbs if you want Power and crt dmg.
Lets look at this: (patch plans for 10.12.13)
CnD gives with 30 SA 4 sec stealth for 4 ini
BP+HS gives for 1 time 3 sec stealth and cost 7 ini
and every new attemp costs 3 ini for +3 sec
so for 5-6 (due to lag/cast hs) sek stealth you would need 10 ini
now you use backstab and now…lets autohit them for 8 secs to gain 10 ini (yay 33% increase and 5 sec cd on opportunist)
you see that is just stupid.

s/d is limited to 2 skills. infiltrator’s strike and fs/ls. THIS is not our fault, you nerfed tactical strike / cnd / dancing dagger into oblivion. at least in pvp (and that is what act matters).
so you nerfed fs/ls twice, its balanced/maybe even underpowered i guess. now you continue nerfing the only skill which kept s/d alive.
so from 5skills on this set (AA not included) , 3 will be crap (tactical/dancing/inf strike), 2 mediocre (fs+ls/cnd) and you really think this will be balanced?
s/d needs a buff, a rework of tactical strike as you cannot really balance it in pvp.
maybe let tactical strike transfer 2 conditions on top of dazing them (as the daze alone is a joke at best)?
or gain hp the amount of dmg you inflict…this would be much more tactical than a random 2sec daze.
opportunist: why not 50% chance and 3sec cd? still less than our current trait but more reliable. because thiefs always need a nerf in order to buff something.

hard to catch should return the incoming disable to the enemy who attacked. then we would be hard to catch. mesmer got this trait…not even GM

my dream was always to switch out death blossom for something useful. either a shadowstep, or a reliable evade (1/4sec evade with a 1/2sec delay…thats crap).
you all know it…it is bugged. gives only 33% movement speed while in combat and stealthed.
so why not completely rework it?
my suggestion would be a trait like many other proffession already have: increase movement speed by 25% while wielding meele weapons.
less speed in stealth, so kind of an undeserved nerf but actually (i think) its a good tradeoff.
…because…i hate that kitten bad signet! those runes of the traveller are bad, loosing too much dmg.
no, just move Signet of the Beastmaster trait to Master Tier. not op, but would likely help rangers to play power setups instead of condition.

for shadow strike its intended, as it is actually not a pistol attack. its a dual wield skill. the +5% damage to daggers trait does also not work on any dual wield skill even if you use 2 daggers.
but black powder must be a bug
well i do main thief aswell, and i love the profession. what i do not love is bp+3/4hs…that is what most ppl do not like about the thief.
i you get that enemy d/p thief to 25% and want to finish him off, he can permastealth away. its a win sure…but without a dead enemy. internal cd to IoS would fix that or force the thief to sacrifice more defense for cheese-mode.
srsly…the blind that this setup offers is more than enough…you dont need the easiest/safest and longest (infinite) access to stealth on top of that.

stealth is not broken, not poorly designed. the problem is 1 trait…infusion of shadow…give it a internal cd of 3sec and evrything will be good.
1 weapon skill with cd would make a difference. its against thief design
spammable yea…thats why we have no knockdown on weapon skills.

i know exposed weakness is awesome, it was just an example maybe not the best.
swapping thrill of the crime to DA would make DA more desirable, while it wouldnt hurt trickery too much as most prefer trickery for condi builts. only the first 15 points are act. usefull for burst setups.
DA is for bursting, as it gives power. mug is no longer good for bursts, its for sustained dmg. thrill of the crime would be a better adept trait in DA.
if you run a burst setup you dont need poison on steal, cuz 1. you have low cond dmg 2.you dont want to give the enemy time to heal. so 3 ini on steal/preparedness would be better = 1 more hs / fs /whatever. en plus, condition builts do not need much iniative in a short time, unlike burst builds.
and cond builts may want some more poison, serpent’s touch, perhaps venom traits into trickery….and so on
would be a win/win situation
because thief has no cooldown on weapon skills

this would be nice…but very op (and no class has cond duration/cond dmg in one trait)
and improvisation is very bad…its from betas, where stolen weapons were bundles (whirling axe). now its just those sticks or rusty weapons that u can collect in pve.
i think it would be enough if they would swap some traits/minors etc. from DA to trickery and vice versa.
example:
-Serpent’s Touch , smells like a nice trickery minor
-Exposed Weakness , also more trickery
and i would really love kleptomanic/preparedness/thrill of the crime on DA…just for the power this line gives

i made some duels in wvw today. grouped up with the enemy so that he could see me when im in stealth like i see my character (glassy look)
did i win a single time? nope
backstabs are impossible with that kind of “slight adjustment”
oh yea thief is easy mode, maybe try to fight some skilled players not lvl20s in wvw

thief needs no nerfs. only some buffs.
if u hate “permastealth” so much, just leave this d/p thief alone jumping thru his uberfields. go on, do something useful in wvw.
fyi: your idea would also affect d/d , s/d builds very much, which are not as easy to play as d/p and have no access to permastealth.
