Would it made a difference on if I preferred to play on borderlands? I don’t mind adjusting my play style according how the server runs. If it means zerging with a guild or even defending towers.
I’m more or less in it for the “T1 experience” and I’d like to start over. But clearly according to you guys, its not the best choice for a player with my taste.
BUT if I were to transfer anyways which one would I pick? (Not that I will now, just out of curiosity)
I’ve been playing on IoJ my whole life, and its safe to say I’ve built some very solid friendships. Sadly, I’ve also built quite a large amount of enemies. I think after being kicked from my guild, it’s time to start a new journey.
I’ve always wanted to join a T1 Server, especially for WvW. I do enjoy solo roaming, and it will always be my favorite thing to do.
Now I would like to join a T1 Server which will stay at T1 rather than moving up and down from T2. I would like to also join a roaming guild which would be able to help me learn more, and develop as a WvW player.
I do have friends on Jade Quarry, but I also know a large amount of amazingly high skilled players on Blackgate.
My question is, which one should I transfer to?
IGN: Scarletta
Role: Scholar

Amazing video! Hopefully this will turn more people away from condition builds, and get them to spec bursty Mesmer style.
Anet needs to learn about equilibrium, until then i’ll roll a guardian or necro. Which ever I like better. I refuse to use anything other than power shatter, and until that build/play style crawls back out of the gutters my mesmer can collect dust.
Yes, I know i’m doing this 100% fully out of anger, and out of the lack of will to adjust to the new meta. It’s just too hard for me. Its past my personal limits.
Dude, its not RIP glass warrior, its RIP glass anything except maybe good glass thieves and glass rangers. Glkittenter mesmers are dead, Glass warriors are dead, Glass guardian is hella hard, Glass necro is also dead. Anet pushed us away from power and is moving us to condition damage. I want a raise in critical damage cap or at least some kind of equilibrium between power and condition damage. So far everything has been so one sided.
Before, it was easy to walk away from a condition mesmer, now when you walk away you’ll die because of torment. Its hard to escape.
Now with everyone running rabid/dire gear, and having 1.6-1.8k toughness, I now feel running full berserker shatter is nowhere near rewarding even with the iLeap fix. Instead of soiling my mesmer with condition damage, or some other overpowered build i’m switching to necromancer where running condition damage feels right. Anyone else hate conditions on their mesmer or am I being over sensitive?
I play shatter, and never liked PU, so i’m really happy with the nerfs in the chaos trait line. Also, because PU is nerfed, i might actually consider using it now. It’s no longer “overpowered”.
I also don’t care much for clone death, because again, I never looked at cheese builds.
Now more mesmers will look towards torment shatter or some kind of mantra/phantasm hybrid.
Because of the huge buff to scepter, many mesmers will be running condition shatter or PU clone death builds. Maybe 50%? Then the 40% will be PU phantasm and mantra builds. This 40% includes all the hybrid builds. Now the rest 10% will be shatter players. This is because, if the current meta is going to be condition damage, maybe people will run rabid/dire gear which is very tanky. Now shatter mesmers, even with full glass won’t be able to handle condition bombs.
Power shatter has the most highest skill cap for mesmers. Will it still be viable after the next patch?
This is what I bet more than half the mesmers are going to be playing. Maybe the rest, 40% will be mantra/phantasm and PU. The 10% will be power shatter. With alot of people running tanky rabid/dire gear, will power shatter even be viable anymore? I worry that Mind Wrack, even with full glass, will do nothing against the condition bombardment.
#EasyCheesyPainfulMesmer
Condition shatter now has potential. PU Phantasm, and Interrupt mesmers also get a boost. Mantras are better also. I don’t see any benefits for shatter mesmers except for the iLeap fix. I don’t think glkittenter is gonna be fun anymore. Everyone in wvw is gonna be dire/rabid and after you get 1 burst off, the condition bombardment will screw you over. If power shatter isn’t going to be as effective anymore, im probably just gonna re-roll necromancer.
Mesmers=Tormentors
Yea, I think this build is perfectly matches my comfort level. I’ll get glassier as I get better. Thanks for the feedback!
Osicat has made some amazing builds, and is my favorite Mesmer of all time. Out of all his builds from, Phantasm builds, to Condition builds to Shatter builds. I personally have always enjoyed his shatter builds. I decided to pursue his shatter cat ghost build to the point of ascended gear. Now i’m at the point where I’m a ascended torch away from full ascended gear. Sadly here is when I realized critical damage got nerfed. Now here is my variation of Osicats shatter cat build.
I still like using the mantras just to avoid the healing animation. I swapped a lot of knights gear for berserker gear. Also instead of taking a sigil of bloodlust I went for the extra evade with sigil of energy.
I’d like to know if it’s a good, solid build or if im better of going for full berserker gear.
Osicats Shatter Cat Ghost Original
My Variation
I’ll, personally have to disagree about Mantra of Recovery being useless. I run a shatter build, but still find it to be a very useful heal, if managed well. Having no cast animation makes it hard to interrupt, when charged. I’m also sure, that when stun locked by a warrior you can still use the mantra if charged.
Having two charges on the mantra again, does require good management, but it’s not useless.
Now, out of compete curiosity if I were to transfer my mesmers gear onto my ele, this is how it would look
—> http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJAoYhMMKc25wxBf0AhAB5tmrRBlDLXB-TlyHwArUide/hfKHcqEcvKHDeAAS0DsUJhf1RAcCAAA-w
How viable is this, ignoring the traveler runes? If the armor works, but the trinkets don’t, I don’t mind switching them.
I solo roam, but ignore PU mesmers and rage when a condi theif or condi warrior kills me. I can’t roam EB because of theif duo and trio’s everywhere. Learning to pick fights is key.
-Shatter Mesmer
Thanks so much! I have most of the ascended gear on my mesmer so I can transfer it over. Nearly no money spent!
I’m somewhat ashamed to say, I created an elementalist, and never actually played her once. I leveled her using tomes and armor smithing. . After dueling a few eles in WvW I really wanna try it out for myself. I’ve faced scepter/dagger scepter/focus and dagger/dagger eles, all really hell to take down unless I traited PU on my mesmer which I hate doing.
So again, blindly for 30 days instead of playing her, I went and crafted her exotic celestial gear, and got her knights daggers. Now I don’t really want to buy new gear for my ele, but I don’t mind spending gold on runes or trinkets.
I just need help creating a build that would work with the gear I have already invested in so I can take my ele out to the WvW roaming battlefield.

I like when my clones don’t die after my opponent flee’s so there’s 1-3 more copies of my curvy norn to admire.
Mesmer is completely OP, in WvW
PU mesmers are overpowered Chokolata. Even out of the PU mesmers, the condi-PU mesmers to be more specific. PU Clone Death is a great way to punish those face rollers.
Easy way to counter it, is to pick your fights and avoid it. The problem is mesmers are under powered in “non” PU builds or people are to lazy to play more skill orientated builds. If we were to point fingers at whats over powered, we should also look at condi thieves, condi warriors, those anoying spirit rangers in spvp and such. I think for mesmers who want to play casually PU is their only choice.
Thanks Ross, 4/6/4/0/0 looks like a way better interrupt build that what I brought up. Its alot more “solid”. Dumb question about it though. Is it possible to replace the focus with a pistol? The focus illusion is way too unreliable, and the pistol phantasm does “non” static dps. If I were to make this change I would lose the reflect from the iWarden so would recommend I change the healing skill to Mirror?
Okay thanks for the feed back, I guess this build was only good back then.

Lets forget about what I said, and get to the point about the build. Will it work well, yes or no?
I completely understand what your looking at, and Im pretty use I never said I didn’t like shatter. I said I didn’t like hybrid shatter builds. I feel like I didn’t explain the build well enough on my part. I think this video will explain the build better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2huaq3JMW4c
I’ve been playing a shatter Mesmer even since I hit level 80. I never really liked playing PU, phantasm or even shatter hybrids. I have always been running the basic Gs Sword Torch shatter. Recently I have decided to change my build around or try something new.
The build that I have come by is a might stacking build. You basically gain might from weapon swapping, interrupting and shattering. It is a variation of Osicat’s Shatter Cat Heavy 3.0.
The Gear:
The Gear has a mix of Knights, and Valkyrie with one Berserker item. The reason for this is to survive condition damage with vitality, considering you will not be running any condition removal skills. The runes are Hoelbrak, for more longer might duration.
Weapons:
Sword for the shatter “hooks”
Focus because of its ability to interrupt. I think a better option would be a pistol because of the more reliable phantasm.
The staff also has an interrupt and gives more mobility and defense than a greatsword.
Sigils of Battle on weapon swap and sigil of energy for more dodges. Its always better to dodge conditions than take em.
Accessories:
I literally have no idea why I chose them. Its just what I felt looks best. I didn’t want to drop too far from 1600 toughness and wanted to keep the power above 1900. I think the crit damage suffers the most at a low 40%.
The Traits:
Domination 0
Dueling 4 (Blade Training IV, Deceptive Evasion X)
Chaos 4 (Illusionary Defense IV, Bountiful Interruption VIII)
Inspiration 0
Illusions (Compounding Power III, Illusionary Elasticity VII, Illusionary Persona XI)
I would like to know if this build is viable, and if I should start perusing the expensive runes, and ascended trinkets.
Okay so, its been a while since I came back to this post. I have decided to go for osicats build when it came to gear stats. I also decided to make a few changes when it came to shatter. I changed the cleansing torch trait to boon removal which helps take down guards and ele’s alot faster. I also changed the sword and torch to berserker rather than keeping them knights. Instead of having a sigil of battle on the sword I went for the sigil of fire, and on the torch, sigil of energy. I am working on ascended ear rings and a ascended back piece.
I learned that with a glkittenter build, Mind Wrack usually one shots, but with this build I need to keep my phantasms and clones up and wait for the right moment to shatter. Also with this build getting 25 stacks of vulnerability (using diversion) is very important to get the most out of your Mind Wrack. I still find problems facing condition thieves, condition warriors and PU mesmers, but you can’t win em all.
Bikinis would be awesome! Speedos not so much, but we can always have cool swimming trunks?
It is now the first day of summer! Summer themed items would be nice. *cough*swimsuits*cough*.
Your art is really amazing! I could never EVER do that, no matter how hard I tried. I wanted to ask, what program are you using?
I also have a request! Could you possibly make a portrait for my Mesmer?
It would be SUPER DUPER appreciated!
I tried to get all the important angles. —-->

In my opinion the Mist Forged weapons should have been something for the winners. A unique item which says “Hey, we were number one!”. If everyone has it, it no longer is unique. Its more like “I did WvW for a bit, look what I got”.
I think everyone will get them on the 19th or 20th. Whenever the next patch is.
Sorry if this is kind of “hijacking” your post, but because we are on the topic of making ascended armor look good, I was gonna ask about ascended light armor. Out of the 3 armor classes, (In my opinion) light armor looks the worst. I need a way to also make it look less…bad. I’m willing to use transmutation charges and gem store skins. I have profane, toxic stuff and zodiac.
Again, sorry if this is kinda “hijacking”.
I’m gonna be straight up here, its summer time, bikinis please!
>:D
@Osicat
I am using your Hidden cat build and i am having a real hard time to kill some players…. today i tried so hard to kill a warrior, he wasn’t able to kill me cuz i am pretty good using stealth and avoid stuff, but i wasn’t able to drop his HP not even half of it…. the fight took like 5 min, and i just gave up and went away… im very sad about my damage… some players are imposible to kill on x1….what am i doing wrong?
Hey Melonhoof, I don’t think Osicat is gonna respond, but I’ll try my best to help you. I have been having the exact same issue with this build and I automatically assumed this build works best with ascended gear and traveler runes. It might be outdated, probably isn’t flexible when it comes to gear changing. Until Osicat updates it I think you are better off finding some other build. If you are looking for something similar i’d try Malferian’s build:
He doesn’t use ascended gear, but he does use ascended trinkets.
Mesmers – because they’re OP
Warriors – because they’re a Heavy class, but is more mobile than any Light class.
Lets not turn this into a class war, but only PU Mesmer’s are overpowered.
Conditions trigger panic within me so I personally agree with Necro being number one. Also thieves and warriors are both annoying when they run conditions. I would agree on warriors being more scary than thieves, but that’s probably because I like bashing warriors faces in and I hate thieves. PU Mesmers are overwhelming in numbers which can be intimidating. Engi’s are super scary . Guardians, Eles and Rangers not so much.
@Pwent
I tried this with vampirism runes because strength runes are a huge investment and aren’t worth the money for just testing a build out. I still hate the fact that Berserker warrior can 1 shot me with his rifle. I can hardly survive 1v1’s, making 1v2-3 (Which is most of my encounters) basically impossible.
@Curunen
I run berserker with assassin mix. 1v2 or more is always hell for me. I would like to clarify that I NEVER roam with a partner and am usually the only one receiving fire.
@Jurica
Berserker really helps with the damage, but if my first two shatters fail or are avoided, I am basically skewed. For the past few days i’ve been running zerker/assassin mix and have been somewhat discouraged from using it because of how quickly small thinks can down me.
@killahmayne
I watched your latest video with your sword torch/ staff build and I noticed that you had someone with you while roaming, and most of the fights were fair. The times you were alone was when you were dueling. I usually roam alone, I don’t really have anyone I roam with, and also I usually face 1v2+. Full berserker builds aren’t as appealing to me anymore.
@NICENIKESHOE
Sadly, unlike Joe I don’t have a roaming partner and I do roam a lot alone. I will probably take I Bamf Joe’s build out of the four. Thanks for helping me narrow it down. It’s hard to decide between full glass or knights, because glass has almost no room for error where as knights or knights/soldiers mix has a bit more flexibility. I guess it depends on my skill level.
@Jurica
I have tried your build I could never grasp the gs/staff shatter idea. I have a weird mindset of being close to my enemies rather than keeping distant from them. Even with utility changes for a bit more invisibility, I still got destroyed in 1v2+. Then I started playing around and liked the Staff+Sword/Sword and GS+Sword/Torch. I still died a good amount, BUT I learned how to portal finisher!
I’m still a bit scared about crafting full ascended berserker armor though.
@killahmayne
I really liked the condition removal in this build, it really helped me with fights against necro’s and survive a bit longer against condition warriors. I personally would call this build the “anti-guardian/ele” build just because of the amazing boon removal, but the phantasms in this build have unreliable damage thus making it REALLY rely on shatters for damage. Why did you chose Cavalier gear over Knights?
@Pwent
It is fun, but the most difficult for a solo roaming play style.
Recently I posted a forum topic about PU and Shatter Mesmer’s in WvW roaming. You guys had helped me decided to start playing a Shatter Mesmer. Now of course there are many shatter builds out their and I tried almost all of them. (almost as in 20 ish) . Some amazing and some not as good. I have rounded down to four builds. I am crafting ascended armor for my Mesmer and would like advice on which I should go for depending on the build. Also I need a build which is best suited for the “condition” meta which is very annoying. PU Mesmer, Condi Thief and Condi Warriors are a pain the the rear end.
Build Number One:
I Bamf Joe’s glkittenter
Build Number Two:
Tsuki Yomi’s Glkittenter
Build Number Three:
Osicat’s Shatter Cat Ghost (Might be outdated, because I haven’t seen Osi in along time)
Build Number Four:
malferian’s WvW Roaming Shatter
I dont know how you’re gonna differentiate between people who have got the reward and who haven’t as I know some people
I think that’s why there is such a big delay in the distribution of tickets. I personally think that the old tickets should be given a description around the lines of “This ticket is no longer valid” and everyone should get new tickets.
I don’t know how much this relates to this topic, but Anet should consider releasing Summer time swimwear/outfits for all genders. They could also add in some toys or tonics orientated around a beach theme.
“Burst” damage is something that is quick and sharp, so yea shatter build is the best way to go.
Try the build below if you need something more sustainable. (Osicat’s Ghost Shatter)
Note: For this build I’d recommend you use Diversion for the vulnerability stacks then use Mind Wrack
If you feel like a baller and can play a squishy build try this one (IbmafJoe)
(edited by DoomKnightMax.6592)
Osicat’s hidden cat build isn’t really orientated around burst. It is survivability orientated.
It is a phantasm build, so your job is to get those iBerserkers up, being your highest dps phantasm, and just hide in your torch 4, decoy and mass invis. Also to auto attack whenever its safe.
If you want a high damage “burst” build i’d go for a shatter build. The squishier it gets, the more burst chance you have. It’s all about risk and reward.
Companies who promise things then lie about delivering them don’t deserve your business. The only way they will do anything about it is if you hit there wallet. I have a $20 a month boycott I would be spending on the gemstore if anet hadnt lied about the alternate precursor method that was suppose to be implemented in dec 2013. The wvw chest error 1 more reason not to support this game.
I don’t think they “lied” about the alternate precursor method. Its just a very sensitive topic. It could change and upset the whole GW2 market and in return also disappoint many players. It takes a lot of time and consideration. The WvW chest is a error but Anet is working on it. If they don’t deliver before the third, then its worth complaining about.
/if you didn’t get your chest /then buy more gems.
How does that help anyone or prove anything?
I think it has been previously stated by developers to not submit support tickets and they have given us information on why we haven’t gotten the chests. No need to be restless.
Yea dude, I re logged a few times and checked all my characters, moved into a different map, nothing.
