25-50% off all skins? That’s the dream!
Maybe they should just rename chaos storm to chaos plane. Or chaos field.
I would like to see more hair color, such are bright red. I would also like it if lip color was changeable. I WANT BLUE LIPS!
I tried both builds, and I really like playing 6/6/2/0/0 rather than 0/4/4/06 because I am able to kill my enemies a lot faster . I feel like this build would benefit a bit more with carrion armor rather than dire, but it still works really well!
When I checked the prices for perplexity runes I nearly got a heart attack. I’ll probably go for undead, krait or nightmare. I would like to know which one is most beneficial out of those three.
I made my necromancer somewhat blindly. I bought gear which sounded like it would fit the class. When I think of necromancers I think of condition damage and dire/rabid gear was the first thing that popped into my head. Now I actually want to play my necromancer in solo roaming WvW but I don’t know what build to use.
Judging on the gear I have what build would you guys best suggest I use for WvW solo roaming?

Yay! Another one! I learn more with each new video, thank you so much!
Here’s a little secret. I have to craft 36 bolts of damask for a full set of ascended armor. Now I’m doing this for a second time passively so it isn’t as important, but when I was going for my first set I wanted to make it in a week. I worked my way around the time gate by giving the materials to fellow guildies that I trusted and they would craft damask bolts for me and send it back. I made 5 damask bolts a day which wasn’t bad at all. Its just about finding trustworthy friends.

I personally think that anything on thief can be viable with dire gear. Hell p/p full dire would work well.
@ CursE and FrownyClown
Thankyou so much for the idea. I think I’ll try out fresh air. The buring speed, lighting flash and air swap will most likely hit hard. I’ll probably have to rely on cleansing fire and Ether Renewal for condition clearing, which isn’t too bad.
@MightyMicah
I’ll create a goal for this build and make sure I test it out in spvp as many times as I need to before investing gold into it for world versus world. I’m already considerably familiar with elementalist mechanics so “learning” the new build won’t be to big of a hassle. Thanks for the step by step advice! I’ll try out different things and tell you guys how it goes.
I believe that in PvE it doesn’t matter what build you run as long as it hits hard and you know when to change utility skills to reflects or condi removal etc. For world versus world there is some gear you can run with almost any traits and still getaway with being bare minimum viable, but sadly it doesn’t work vice versa. This is what I run for 1v1 duels in wvw.
For a more sustainable roaming build I would switch to PU. You lose some phantasm damage but you gain the ability to survive longer in 2v1’s. Feel free to change armor parts to knights instead of full zerker. Find YOUR sweet spot.
Finally for zerging, I’m not 100% I never zerg on my mesmer, but here it was I could scrap together. My reasoning for this build is that you have your iZerker and iWarden which are both hard hitting phantasms. They are traited to last longer with the 1 second of distortion on creation. They are also given a 70% hitpoint increase because of the signet’s passive ability and trait. Finally, when they die, they can give off bleed, vulnerability or weakness.
Personally, I’m working for ascended gear because it gives me the feeling of completion. Once I have a full set of ascended armor, trinkets, weapons with infusions (and the right skins) I will have the satisfaction of fully finishing a character. I’m sure there are many players with a similar mindset.
This is what I’ve come up with so far. It makes killing engi’s and p/d thieves a bit easier.
Custom hair AND lip colors!
I’ll make sure I try out as many of these builds as possible as soon as I can get my Thief to level 80. Thanks so much!
I’m not sure if your trolling or if you’re serious.
Hello fellow Elementalists! I need help creating a power build for solo roaming WvW. I created ascended gear for my mesmer a while back, and now I don’t really like it on her, so I gave it to my ele. Now I’ve been playing full celestial d/d ele but it’s getting super boring. I’ve also worn out my interest in S/D or F ele. Now I really want to try Dagger Focus ele with my mesmer gear. I’ve had some trouble creating a viable build so maybe you guys could help me out.
Let the ideas begin to flow!
From personal experience I would say mesmers get hard countered by s/d and p/d thieves.
But then again full dire p/d thieves are the scumbags of gw2, so what doesn’t counter that?
How much glitter did you snort before you picked a soundtrack for the video?
Okay well clearly killing P/D is never going to happen. But at least now I know how to tackle S/D thieves a bit better now. Are there any builds make to hard counter them, I know interrupt’s work well.
Is it possible to develop a build for necromancers just to hard counter P/D or even S/D thieves? If one exists, please let me know.
P/D thieves need to be punished.
Because without perplex runes, condition necro’s would be kinda crap.
As a zerker shatter mesmer, I have a lot of problems in WvW fighting Sword Dagger and Pistol Dagger thieves. I hardly ever land shatters on a sword dagger thief, or survive the bleeds and poison from pistol dagger thieves.
Any tips on how to beat them in 1v1 situations, because currently that’s all I can fight roaming in WvW, which is extremely sad, but also very true.
My bad. Sorry.
Superior Rune of the RNG
(1) +20 % Magic Find
(2) – 25% Drop Rate
(3) +40 % Magic Find and immune to getting any drops that aren’t white
(4) – 50% Drop Rate
(5) +60% Magic Find
(6) +300% Magic find, and you will never ever get a decent drop in your life time. Make that two life times.
The new trait system gives literally no flexibility for new players.
have u ever wanted to play a Mesmer with out being a purple butterfly
no
Aren’t skill color and sound useful to identify a class though? Wouldn’t that become an issue especially in pvp?
Make a setting which makes every opponent have default colors. Just like they did with models. I like the idea of being a blue mesmer. Right now my mesmer is blue everything, except for the kitten skills which are pink/purple.
I assume, because Brandon skipped over all the REAL problems with each class, the purpose of this post was to give a satirical touch to all the whining and bi—hing on the “professional balance” forum.
So far I’ve liked all the builds posted. I’ve tried them in spvp and they are super fun! S/D doesn’t feel so smooth, so I’m probably gonna go for a D/D build, running full glass cannon. The 5 might stacks on signet use is amazing. I like the idea of being able to I shot, or get 1 shotted. I probably will be going for Yski’s build, but because the gear difference isn’t too big ill try them all out in WvW eventually.
Thankyou guys so much for your help!
I’ll keep bugging you guys if I need any more help.
I used to use knights greatsword on my mesmer, but then arena net nerfed critical damage so I was sad and had to craft berserker.
Yes, back in the day you could run knights/zerker mix gear and still crit huge numbers.
Dude, if your getting your lady friend a gift, it should come from your blood sweat and tears. That’s what makes it special.
Its so hard to pick between S/D and D/P. I’ve tried out S/D, and the evades are amazing, and I see why its hard to burst down. D/P also had a lot of burst potential, but I’ve noticed its somewhat easy to see coming. P/P was fun for pve, but im not gonna take it into wvw, and I find D/D to be a bit odd. Dagger offhand skills feel very useless.
I’ve noticed that without food, most builds have 40-45% crit chance and also have Valkyrie gear. Why don’t thieves run bull berserker gear or berserker assassin mix? I’m used to running around with a minimum of 50% critical change even at the cost of a bit of vitality. I also don’t like having to need a signet for mobility, so how do traveler runes look on a thief, or is that a dumb idea?

I would disagree on turning EVERYTHING account bound, but having gear account bound doesn’t sound like a bad idea, but then again it takes away from people who worked hard to get ascended so they could share it among characters.
Over my 1200+ hours of playing GW2 (1000 of those put into solo roaming as a mesmer) I’ve come to hate thieves with a burning passion of a thousand suns. As a shatter Mesmer player, fighting S/D thieves and P/D thieves (Dire gear usually) was literally like looking Satan in the face and saying “Come at me bro.”
I’ve always told myself I’d never play one for as long as I lived. Now, over the past two weeks I’ve had a very important friend ask me to make one. After a lot of persuasion (and seduction) I said yes. I believe that other than satisfying my friends need, I will learn to understand the way a thief player thinks and will overall play better when facing them.
Now I’m the kind of player who likes to challenge themselves. Risk and Reward builds are something I value most, thus I have no intentions of playing P/D thief. I am however looking for a thief build which will challenge me the most in WvW as a solo roamer.
I’m here today asking for examples of (power) builds which will challenge me as a player and also help improve as a whole. Thank you.

This is my CI/shatter hybrid build. I use it when I feel too lazy to play shatter. I think if you trait PU, you can play this build full glass cannon. I can’t afford the new gear so I use knights/soldiers, but I personally know then build well enough to play it full glass. It’s a fun build which is also somewhat out of the ordinary. I will have to say, its not as good as a pure shatter build.
@Pandaman
It might be a overstatement, but that’s besides the main point. I have no problems with the armor we have now, skimpy or not. The point is that if Arena Net can make skimpy armor for female characters, then It can also be done for male characters. Also if they can make armor that is near topless, then there shouldn’t be any shame in making armor exposing a little bit of ones rear. (M or F)
I made my characters (most) look like teachers I’ve had in the past. I think I have a problem.
I do agree, male and female characters both need their fair share of skimpy armor. Arena Net needs to learn to swing everyone’s way, rather than just for guys. This is a game with a large diversity of players all with different preferences and it would be appreciated if all their views were given at least some consideration before designing new armor.
Well, first they have to design a medium armor set that doesn’t cover the backside with a coat.
What .. is human T3, Duellist and Krytan Armor not enough ?
2 is not nearly enough. I demand a even ratio, especially for light armor!
Fella’s 1 piece of rear gear (Strider armor) doesn’t compare to the large amount of cleavage revealing armor Arena Net offers. There should be a balance, no? Light armor literally has none.
Arena Net has always given a large variety of armor customization options. Some, unique and some not so much. I’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 for around half a year, and I’ve noticed a trend in armor.
The most significant trend I’ve noticed is the emphasis on breasts.* Most of the female light armor for norn and humans include super skimpy top armor pieces. This can also be seen with Medium armor, especially the infamous T3 Medium human cultural armor, and not as much, but still existing, heavy armor. I have no complaints against this. Skimpy armor is fine.
The issue I find is, there are no armor pieces for ones rear. I have gone through all the skins for pants in the wardrobe for light, medium and heavy weight classes, only to find two to five pants skins that makes a characters rear stand out. I would like to see a larger variety here in the gemstore, as new drops or event items. If there’s no shame dressing nearly topless, then showing a little bum should never kill anyone either.
I understand that Arena Net armor developers/designers are “breast men” but it never hurt to look at the other end of the rainbow, and give a little to the “buttocks man”.
Thankyou.

I personally would like if the skins were kept rare or exclusive to previous players* or could be acquirable by EVERYONE.
*New, skins (as cool as the old ones) should be added.
Sure they will be added later …. in the gem store
Just because they are in the gemstore does not make it “unavailable” to everyone. You can convert gold to gems. Just, some people will have to work harder than others. Not that its gonna happen anyways.
