Unleash the AOE (remove the cap). Allow smaller groups to use strategy and positioning as an advantage again to kill the mindless zergs. Yes people will cry when small coordinated groups take out 2+ times their numbers, but it will stop the safety in numbers mentality we currently see now. EB has literally turned into 3 zergs, usually running away from each other……boring!

Glicko would only works if the tiered matchups were removed and matchups were random, allowing bottom ranked servers a chance at higher ranked servers. We would then have a ranking system that measured relative strength, but due to the population imbalances we would also have matchups dominated by higher or heavy off hour populations. Maybe PPT should be based on kills only, so that PvDoor would have no affect?

If their is no raised edge on the wall, you can pull, punt and fear people over, if there is a raised edge they all fail. Seems perfectly consistent.

There are plenty of servers without queues. Maybe try a different server if you are unhappy with the queue lengths in T1. T2 rarely has queues other than reset night.

Holiday weekend on a tier 1 server? I would be complaining if there weren’t queues.

Great fights last night on KNBL, lots of 3-way battles.

Running a 4 year old Radeon 4870. I run in T2 which has some pretty large zergs, graphics settings on high, and it runs smooth as glass. Since culling was removed the only difference, other than now being able to see everyone, is with character weapons which are now occasionally slow to render.

What is with all the chest thumping, you are all the best at everything OK? Now what’s the score?

Rifle is very viable. Just make sure your build includes Crack Shot for piercing AOE goodness.

just stop. You obviously have no clue how portal works and make it sound like they just target any spot above them and portal up. Realize the mesmer does not place a ground target ahead or above or anywhere, the portals are always placed directly under where they are standing. The only way to portal somewhere is to have already have been there in the first place so to portal up above, as within the JP, they have to start at the top. Meaning they have to first go through the JP the same way everyone else does or get a portal from another mesmer who already has run through.

Would someone from TC who plays in the SEA time against Meow/WM send me a PM? I noticed you guys kept your garrison this morning, and I’m looking for some advice as to how you managed that. Over on FABL we faced at least 50 KN invaders who (after we took out their 5 golems) just dps’ed the door down, so there was nothing our 15 defenders could do.

It’s a little frustrating to say the least, so I’m wondering if you guys are doing something differently than we are, have more people, or just aren’t getting as much attention because KN wants to keep us down in points.

Btw this is not a “Night Capping” or “PvD” complaint, I am just looking for information and this is the best possible forum to do so.

Last week with FA in third and TC in second, FA was KN’s focus because FA was the easiest points to steel, this week FA is in second so they are being focused as they are the biggest threat. Just means KN considers FA the real threat while TC is just a lost puppy following them around picking up the scraps with no chance of ever beating them.

How is it possible that a server winning it’s tier by 2x the points of the other 2 servers will loose rating? Sorrow’s Furnace for example from this week is ahead 221-125-120 and despite this they are loosing 51 rating? How are they ever going to move up if winning doesn’t increase their rating?

But three people to kill one person isn’t that a bit of overkill. plus it also damages your armour and so you spend half of your hard earned coin on repairs. I believe they should remove that feature from WvWvW.

I get into 1 v 3 situations pretty frequently, though they usually end with the 3 dead and me thinking if they had brought a fourth they would have had a chance.

1. Go into WvW
2. Run into a zerg of enemy invaders (shouldn’t be hard to find, follow the cross-swords).
3. Use Dodge
4. Done (though likely dead at this point)

1. Legendary weapon grind

Legendary is a skin, they have the same stats as any other exotic and therefor completely arbitrary whether you have a cool looking skin or not…not a grind.

2. Gold Grind – you need atleast 100 gold for the ideal build and armor you want. If you want any of the ‘special’ weapon look at grinding out atleast another 300-500 gold (legend range for a min of 1.5k to 2.5k) -unless your brilliant at investing or lucky your looking at around 50-60 hours of grinding to get the armor and build you want. Ironically in GW1 which was ‘suppose’ to be more of a grind this was alot simplier and easier.

I suggest you look into crafting. The only thing I couldn’t make for free was the specific runes needed. In my case the runes were craftable and then I could either buy the needed lodestones or put on some MF gear and take a week to “grind” for them (which is what I did). So at the most you’ll spend about 1-3 gold per rune, or make them yourself for the cost of the core\lodestone if you don’t want to get them yourself.

1. Ascended gear (what?! isn’t this what they said WOULD NOT happen? Did they not say how they disproved of this? How the game should be about having fun?)
They already stated they tend to add more gear grinds later how (Why? The game was released for only 3 months and Anet felt they had to add in a gear grind already?) I can’t imagine what will happen in a year from now.

On this we agree and I am a bit miffed at ANET for this as well. Fortunately they are really easy to get running fractals and within my first week I had 3 rings.

2. Karma gear -to get one set of karma get you need at least 240k karma. Yeah for the above avg. causal – to hardcore this is possible but for us casuals this is NOT possible in a reasonable amount of time.

Take 10 minutes and complete the daily while leveling up for the karma jugs. By the time you hit 80 you will have more than enough jugs for a full set (I have always gained enough for two full sets.) Be sure to use a karma booster (for +50% karma) when consuming them all at once. Spending 10 minutes a day to complete the daily is not really a “grind” now is it? It’s all a matter of perspective, and you may still feel that GW2 is a grind, but it’s not to me….not even close.

Buying gems with real money is ANET’s business model, it’s how they sustain the game without the monthly fees like all the rest. 500/1000/1800 gems for server transfers is right on target in my opinion. The game and WvW is better off with players spread out across servers, not all packed into a couple servers with much higher populations dominating every other server using the bigger zerg theory. Keep your eye on the bigger picture here.

Kaineng is a band-wagon server, filled with band-wagon players or even worse, the band-wagon guild. The only thing band-wagoners do faster than leaping to a rising server is leave a loosing one and Kaineng has those types of players in droves now. I’d bet they implode after their first loss.

I have one alt dedicated to running the ‘daily’ daily. I take the 10 minutes to complete it and log him out and will do this until I hit 80, then I’ll start a new alt. Getting to 80 takes a month or so this way bit it’s very little work and when they get there I have plenty of karma jugs to purchase a full set of exotic armor.

What server are you on? In T3 on Fort Aspenwood there are virtually no queues except for WvW reset night and even then it’s really just EB with a 5 to 10 minute queue. From what I hear of T1/2 servers, it’s the same.

In regards to AoE, I can’t imagine they were even thinking of touching the mesmer. We likely have the worst AoE potential already. I’m guessing they were mostly referring to the elementalist.

DH just lost several guilds to DB a couple weeks ago once people realized there was no way to win against DBs Oceanic crew despite how big our lead from rolling them in NA prime time. So saying that even more are leaving for BP just added same salt to the already bleeding wound. I’m sure you couldn’t have known.

The problem is you’re comparing a heavy armor class that can hit for ~16k in a single attack to a light armor class who can’t hit for more than a quarter of that kind of damage. Don’t bother comparing mesmers to dps classes like warrior and thief, mesmers are much more of a support class.

Truth is mesmers can own warriors without too much effort if speced and played right, but it is a very different, much less direct approach to that of a warrior. If you are having trouble I suggest trying out a tankier toughness\boons\condition damage staff build. Power based great sword\sword builds are currently a bit kittened due to the last round of changes.

DB has equal if not greater numbers than NSP and DH during NA prime time now. But for whatever reason they don’t seem to know what they are doing and are very easily pushed around by much lesser numbers. If not for DBs night crew, they wouldn’t stand a chance.

I use a very similar build but I put 10 less into Chaos and put them into Illusions instead (0/20/20/0/30). This gives you more condition damage and also let me pick up Illusionary Persona for anytime\bigger shatters. Since conditions themselves can’t crit, I personally see no benefit from raising your precision other than for trying to proc extra bleeds from Sharper Images. But for illusion crits, Phantasmal Fury has been working better for me that pumping up my own precision. The only reason for going 20 into dueling in the first place is to get Deceptive Evasion for shatters in my opinion.

Not sure if intended or a bug but it has been a this was since beta. Only way out of binding roots with ranged is with the help or to use a stun breaker. If you wield 2 ranged weapons and you have no stun breaker equipped, you a free kill. Pretty lame and very over powered racial ability in my opinion (if it was just the ranger elite I could somewhat understand.)

Once you’re in full exotics and spend a week out in WvW it gets pretty stale because I can’t make my character any more powerful.

And what is so wrong with keeping people on a level playing field? By not always having to fight people in better gear, this game comes down to builds, skill and teamwork instead of rewarding whomever puts in more time grinding for the better gear making sure their same exact attacks hit harder thus nearly guaranteeing a win. As for boredom, only when I’m waiting in queue to get into WvWvW.

Honestly I think HoD might be best suited for T8 given their current population size.

Understand that is not a lack of people coming into WvW on HoD and ET, it is simply a lack of people. Most of HoD fled to JQ weeks ago and ET over to IoJ. At this point Kaineng would likely have no trouble winning versus ET and HoD. Both HoD and ET will eventually slide to the bottom tier without a major influx of people.

Honestly everyone seems to be picking up on this “clever” tactic and pretty soon everyone who enjoys WvW will be rolling a mesmer because of how powerful portal is. Eventually majority of our time in WvW will be spend hunting a class that can go invisible for long periods of time in the hopes of preventing them from bypassing the very mechanics that make WvW special. May as well just rename WvW “Mesmer Hide and Seek Match”.

Mesmers have 3 possible stealth skills: Mass Invisibility 5s every 90s (elite), Decoy 3s every 40s (utility), and The Prestige 3s every 30s (torch). They also have a trait to increase stealth duration by 1 second at the top of chaos line. Not sure I would qualify that is being able to “go invisible for long periods of time” however. So my max possible self stealth time from using all 3 in succession with the increased to duration trait is 14 seconds and that is only if all 3 are not on cool-down already. Mass Invisibility is not nearly as effective an other elites (like Time Warp) so is usually not slotted and the torch is just plain terrible compared to…… well anything else. Some could argue that the torch is better than nothing, perhaps best used as a night light in dark caves. The focus or pistol for an off-hand are much better options.

The invisible people is not a portal problem, it’s a problem with the culling which ANet has already acknowledged.

Now, Mesmer CAN sort of get the same thing. You just have to use the Focus offhand, use Runes of the Centaur, and use the weakest heal we got. Quite a tradeoff, for something other classes do either passively or with minimum amount of work.

Don’t forget that the mesmer’s focus swiftness buff overwrites all other swiftness buffs instead of stacking in duration as all other swiftness buffs work. So if you a have a warrior and guardian granting swiftness, it can often stack up to a minute or more, until they run over the mesmer’s temporal curtain, then regardless of how much time they had, it’s now just 10 seconds.
