Ditto n Tarnished coast. Just did the ale delivery, the helped ettins with portals, and the SB’s purple cloud spawned and a bunch of unkillable portals. Event failed.
For the necro, 7/10. Thief, 9/10. Just straight up sounds like an Asura name, even lacking hard consonants.
Tivil – Male ranger.
k*ttenkk – Male guardian.
Stabologist Lokk – Male thief.
edit: oh, god. The guardians name is Whr – ekk without the dash or spaces. Stupid filter.
I play every class in the game, and I have 9 characters. The doubled-up class? It’s thief. My main is an Engineer. And due to having all, I also have a ranger. OP gave me a good laugh.
The Thief is the profession worst treated of the game.
My guardian, k*ttenkk, continues to get more and more frightening.
Stupid filter won’t even let me spell his name correctly, I had to split it.
Is that the new mask? Can you color it? :d
That is the new mask, yes. No, you can’t dye it, unfortunately. I’m lucky in that I intended it to be red, anyway.

Look up the use of capitalizations within sentences. When only certain things are capitalized it is a sign of EMPHASIS to that/those certain word/words, it’s called LITERACY, yelling is the use of caps in the ENTIRE DIALOG.
Italics exist for a reason.
How do you get a headache from looking at a big head? lol, just wait a day if it bothers you that much. Kind of ruins the spirit of the holiday if people can just opt out of a prank.
but anyways, you could try setting your computer’s date forward to april 2nd. Or back to March whatever. It seems to be client side.
I THINK some people have a type of Coulrophobia(for the lack of a name for it).
Coulrophobia is a fear of clowns and mimes, and other individuals whose identity and intentions are obscured by things like makeup. What does that have to do with bobbleheads?
Everything.
This had me in stitches, good job on being completely horrifying, there!

You said it right here(out of context), “and other individuals whose identity and intentions are obscured by things like makeup.”. In a sense the bobbleheads are an obscured representation of its true self. Go figure.
Give it a rest. Everyone knows you’re just being a Fanboi.
And that aside. There are people like myself that are getting headaches from it, be cause there is too much motion going on from what you are normally used to in the game. And my eyes are trying to process every little new motion, and it’s causing a massive headache.
ACTUALLY, Im FAR FROM A GW2 FANBOI, just check my posting history, I may be one of the most critical people on these forums AGAINST GW2, although, on occasion they put things in that tickles or intrigues me. I’m sorry it gives you a headache , but, it’s not like it’s permanent, I myself would get sick of it if it were, but, it’s only for 1 day, GEEZ.
That’s not what coulrophobia is, sorry man. Bobbleheads scaring people is closer to automatonophobia.
Also, could you stop yelling in caps?
I think the bobbleheads are great, and I’m very sorry it’s badly affecting some people. And I’m especially sorry that while I’m playing right now, I’m beginning to develop a migraine from straining my eyes (I’m legally blind in one eye..) trying to see enemy animations around my enormous noggin, and it’s starting to make me nauseous. It makes me sad because I really enjoy the effect and find it funny. Part of me hopes the migraine is coincidental, but I know it isn’t.
I love the bobbleheads, but they’re messing with me. I’ll probably have to play in very short amounts of time and space it out to avoid it bothering me too much.

Tequatl cap courtesy of my friend “I Am Mr Shank.”
And my main sylvari engineer looking totally ridiculous.
I got Dusk as a drop, once. Some friends and I were in Queensdale, they went to Shadow Behemoth, I was in the water by the temple doing daily aquatic. I killed a firefly while in the water, decided to step out and loot its corpse, and there was Dusk. I sold it. This was back when it was worth 600 gold. Yes, that is a very good drop.
The thing is, it seems like every single ounce of my luck, since launch, was taken up by that one good drop. Anything ever involving RNG, I fail horrifically. I never get good drops, ever, from anything, aside from that singular instance. The most notable drop I ever got aside from that was getting Celestial from a uniden dye I got during the dredge fractal, and celestial was only worth about 12 gold or less at the time, and I used it. That’s it. I think that if I had more consistent luck, I’d have made a lot more gold than that 600. I very sincerely doubt I’ll ever see another precursor in my inventory.
I just really hate the RNG in this game.
How about I play the way I want, you play how you want, and stop making wild assumptions?
I keyfarm, and so does one of the guilds I help lead, and we often go together. The thing is, I also buy gems, with real money, and I buy more each month than WoW charges for a subscription. My guildies also buy gems – every one of them that keyfarms with me does. Some of them buy considerably more than I do. We just don’t spend the gems on keys. Most of us buy cosmetic items or upgrades. Recently, I bought a transfer back to Tarnished Coast, my original server. Transfers to a server like TC aren’t cheap, at all.
I also keyfarm because I enjoy it. I actually, genuinely like doing it. I find it relaxing. It paid off big time today, and I was able to buy a tormented GS skin without losing who knows how much money to RNG if I had tried to buy the keys I needed, plus I got all kinds of other neat stuff from the chests.
So. I am supporting the game, and I’m having a good time and getting items I want in the process. What’s the problem?
I really miss /rock, /paper, and /scissors from GW1.
And the instrument emotes.
Or just make the dyes unlocked on your account available to be used as hair/accessory colors.
The way that hair tends to have different colors in the strands, highlights, and shadows, I’m not sure if dyes would look terribly fantastic in comparison to premade hair colors. Dyes on armour seem to work like a sort of mask lying on top of the texture map shading with other maps on top for the material light interaction. That’s how it looks at least. I don’t think it’d work out so hot on hair.
Anyway, I’ve said it before, but I’d really love a light cotton candy blue hair. That doesn’t glow freakishly like some of the other exclusive ‘unnatural’ colors. The same pale blue male GW1 eles had as an option, basically.
People arguing against this strike me as having no idea how running a business works. Or Public Relations. As someone with experience in both, it would be absolutely insane and a complete PR nightmare if they did nothing in this situation.
But, since they refunded infinite tools and flamekissed, they will almost undoubtedly give some form of compensation for this, whether it’s gems or something else. It doesn’t even actually cost them anything out of pocket to refund gems, so I don’t really get that part of the hubbub, either. I don’t think anyone’s expecting them to refund cash.
I have run a business, I have had to manage my own PR, and I have given refunds (actual cash!) to people who weren’t satisfied with what they received from me – and I don’t blame them or have any problem with that. I certainly don’t resent them or think of them as entitled or view it as, haha, QQing. I doubt Anet does, either. It’s just something that happens when you offer services and goods, especially if you go around changing products so their base functionality is extremely different after they’ve been purchased for that specific original functionality. Such as town clothes becoming one item vs. being able to mix them previously.
So, once the patch goes live, just file a ticket if the functionality of your purchased items have changed in a way that makes them unusable to you, or if your duplicate items have been made redundant.

I can just imagine now how capes would behave on a charr, especially while moving backwards. Having your own cape go flying through the middle of your body, basically. That, and they’d be enormous blanket-like flapping monstrosities on norn and charr both, clipping through their gigantic greatswords, shields, and backpacks in an impossible-to-ignore way..
Who knows how hilariously the thing might react during a dodge or other quick-movement animation.
(basing my cape-behavior speculation on how the things moved in Guild Wars 1, and this game uses the same base engine)
If you have it tucked away in your bank somewhere, Mad Memoires (orange fire version) from the Halloween event lights up an area really well, but it is a backpiece. I used to have to use it a lot due to a combination of poor vision and a dim monitor.
The problem is that I have neither the dreadlock hair or the eyepatch, yet.
Which do I buy first to test this properly, especially when the dreadlocks suffer from permanently dyed accessory syndrome which alarms the crap out of me?
I guess I could just set the stupid thing to brown and always ensure my armour dyes have brown in them somewhere as a neutral (ugh), buy the hair, then preview the eye patch. And if that doesn’t work out, buy the mask that looks like an eye-scar instead.
I want the eyepatch or scar mask because my asura has been bugged since launch where one of his eyes is always lighter colored than the other.
My male human ele is black (I’m not irl, I’m white, if it matters) and he’s a faithful recreation of my Krytan GW1 Prophecies character, which had.. a limited facial and hair selection, honestly. So he has very dark skin, straight hair, and anglo bone structure. No problems in the character creator with this, which lead me to believe it would be fairly easy to create non-caucasian characters in GW2.
Then I tried to make a second engineer, a black woman. I envisioned an Elonian with dreadlocks, dark skin, and the appropriate corresponding bone structure. I had spent over an hour in the character creator and only got as far as the attached second image when I just gave up. The hair had a bit of curl but just wasn’t what I wanted at all, and I absolutely had to obsess over the face sliders to get that far. I wanted to create a woman who looked more like Danai Gurira in The Walking Dead than what I wound up with. She’s a gorgeous woman and I’d just really like to have a character that resembles her at least a little, but it was impossible.
Meanwhile, my Asura ranger has nice cornrows and as soon as I get a hair kit I’m switching him over to the new dreadlocks.. wtf. Why aren’t these human options, too? It’s very unfortunate, I would love to have more humans (I’m an altaholic) but my only real option is “super white barbie/ken doll.” The humans also conform hard to western standards of beauty aesthetics, have you ever tried to make a human, male or female, with a hooked beak of a nose? It’s pretty much impossible.
Suffice to say that I’m very sorry and I hope this changes soon. When I saw that just about every race aside from human got dreads, I felt immensely let down. I can’t imagine how disappointed you must feel.
I belong to two guilds. One is comprised of old friends, the other is friends/coworkers from another game I QA for. If you put them together, it’s about 30 people, maybe.
They actually keep me busy to such a degree that sometimes I just have to say “I need to play alone for a bit,” because I really enjoy just taking my time, exploring, and challenging myself without the aid of a team, at times.
I have played the game when both guilds were temp inactive simultaneously, I didn’t really get bored. I just explored the world. But I also can’t play nonstop because of QA work/job as an illustrator.
The preview removes your helm so I didn’t realize I’d have this issue with Magnus’ eyepatch and I was kind of disappointed with the change. I still really like the hair but I’d also like the option to leave my helm on in preview so I can see a problem coming. I filed a bug report in game about the clipping, anyway.
The preview never removed my helm or shoulders, even since i normally don’t show them i always had to manually remove them from my character.
Or does it happen as soon as you start to change your face ? Have never tested that i think and always first canceled and removed my helm.
I just had a hairstyle kit and not the full one that lets me change my face. Maybe they figure if you’re buying new hair you’ll want your helm off for sure. Usually I’d agree!
This worries me a lot as I want a hair kit to make my asura ranger’s hair the new dreadlocks + the eyepatch, and I sense a deep and terrible clipping with that bandana..
So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Egon Vidar.9125
5/10
The 5 is entirely for Bazaar of the Four Winds, parts of Dragon Bash, and the actual Teq fight from Tequatl Rising (screw that scavenger hunt sideways). I enjoyed those immensely. As for the rest, I’d rate it considerably higher if nothing concerning Scarlet had ever touched the game.
The whole plot involving Scarlet herself? That gets a 2, if even that, and those points are for the new Elder Dragon waking up and getting to give Scarlet herself a good stomping.
And the end? If we’re talking Dead End meeting here, stone cold 0.
And by the way, yes, I “get it.” I get it and I find it asinine. Bazaar of the Four Winds was the crowning achievement of the entire LS season 1, and was actually pretty spectacular. I’d give just about anything to go back there.
(edited by Egon Vidar.9125)
It is the lighting, yes. And the lighting in the preview and the makeover kit affects the materials in a really prominent way and creates a very obvious bluish sheen that I’ve never actually seen replicated perfectly anywhere in the live game itself.
It’s cost me several gold in dye mistakes, and I had to totally remake a character once due to the lighting in the character creator causing me to totally misinterpret some colors. I wish the lighting was made a bit more neutral, but eh, what’re you gonna do? I suspect this is a feature that will be around forever.
They might have gotten new armor after getting the hair or something, idk. That happened with my charr thief. Looked at a bunch of new armour (not immediately) after changing his hair and his ponytail wanted to clip with everything.
Granted, he is a charr. It’s almost expected at this point. I like the hair enough that I ignore it.
Anyway, do as advised with the trouble ticket and you might get a refund if you’re really not satisfied, and please – stop typing – like this.
I’d like to see two toned hairstyles, as in using multiple colours.
Also, i haven’t checked on this, but is it possible to have a different colour of facial hair? (Example, a brown beard and a neon pink haircut)
Two tones would be way cool. As for beard and haircut, I think they are the same colors. I’ve never played a male char, but I have seen most male facial hair as being the same color as the hair.
There actually is a single two-tone hair (to my knowledge, single) that exists. It’s for male asura, my baby thief has it so it matches his markings. It’d be fantastic if other races (and female asura..) had the same option.
I’d give just about anything for a light blue hair option that isn’t teal or appears to glow unnaturally.
Also, more male long hair all around. And dyeable accessories, yes. I want the new male dreadlock hair for my asura ranger but that big undyeable bandana is a bit intimidating.
They had hair in GW1, sometimes. Sometimes quite a lot of it, in fact; Oola’s hair was enormous. But it was never styled similarly to what you typically saw on humans.
As far as heredity and color goes, their hair and eyes were usually black or very dark brown. Gadd is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that had light colored eyes in GW1, and his one known offspring did not.
It seems as though exposure to other cultures might have changed Asura a bit, their way of visually designing things, and how they dress aren’t quite the same as they used to be. They also seem less inclined to call people bookahs. They might have adopted a few human beauty ideals considering some of the hair options. And they also seem to have developed more genetic variation since coming to the surface since they display a wider range of colorations and other variations than seen in GW1.
They also seem to have gotten more “cute” on average, in the way that a baby animal is cute. There were some plain grimace-inducingly weird looking asura in the first game. Which is not a bad thing. I’d like to see a few more face options similar to those you saw on some NPCs in GW1.
Forgive the quality, was having odd performance issues and had to turn down everything.
There are also some rocks very near to the sinking sand that your feet disappear into.

On a constructive feedback note:
I cannot for the life of me find any connection, empathy, or like for the krewe of characters the writers thrust upon me throughout this story cycle.
I’m really, really having this issue badly, too. I just feel nothing for them. I have no reason to. I did like Marjory for a bit, but as I mentioned previously, some writing decisions in this patch sort of wrecked that. I do like Taimi to a degree, but she strikes me as intensely naive even for a child of her age, and especially for an Asura child, but I can at least handwave her behavior a bit as blind ambition.
DE 2.0 have fallen into the dreaded trope of the Eight Deadly Words.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EightDeadlyWords
I honestly felt more of a connection with Trahearne, who confided his anxieties and feared shortcomings to me, and (if you pay extremely close attention) spoke to me as a genuinely concerned friend would, than any of these characters. And I don’t particularly like Trahearne. (it’s not due to the supposed glory-stealing thing before someone says anything about that particular can of worms)
Well, are you really that surprised? They did announce a “small feature patch”, – nothing major. If you were expecting a big update, blame yourself for not informing yourself. :P
I wasn’t expecting anything major and I don’t think most of the complaints here are about that. The main issue is quality of writing, not quantity of it or anything else.

Oh, and I forgot to mention all those options for Marjory’s question made me cringe. In a RP sense, my character wouldn’t have said any of them.
Ditto. I read the list of dialogue options repeatedly in confusion and wound up wishing there was a “have some kittening tact, Marjory” option. Something. Anything but forcing my mild, kindness-inclined character to also be a complete jerk.

Posted by: Egon Vidar.9125
I’m really not trying to sound like a jerk, but never before has a game made me feel so awkward and out of place in the middle of a conversation. Or at a party. And the dialogue sure was.. something..
My sylvari just kinda stood there and looked on in confusion on as people mostly talked around him disjointedly and very, very, very slowly. Talked, and made jokes that felt in absolutely terrible taste considering the state of affairs. Marjory especially came across as a petty snot. Scarlet was a real piece of work, but it’s generally frowned upon to crack jokes about the recently deceased. To the person that killed them. Killed them due to their murderous rampage wiping out thousands and leaving a city in utter devastation.
Yikes. Also, LA cut scene didn’t play so I have no idea what’s going on there. I went to LA first.
Sorry. I have no intention of going on at length about NK as I find the topic a bit too raw and distasteful in this sort of discussion when going in-depth. In my opinion, a group’s leader is not successful as a leader of a group unless the group (country, in this case) s/he is leading is successful in majority with him/her, Darc. As individuals? Yes, they certainly did well for themselves from a 100% objective point of view (ignoring assassination attempts), I definitely won’t ignore that point. Successful individuals, but not the greatest leaders the world has seen by any stretch of the imagination. And some fashion of leadership is, it seems, what we’re talking about. Or conquest. But you don’t want those you conquer to hate you, either, unless you savor the idea of your own head on a pike as the result of a violent and bloody rebellion.
You seem to keep missing the links I keep posting about The Prince being a satire written by a man who was tortured and imprisoned by people who held the very ideals written about in that book.
Therefore I can’t take any references to it in that sort of context even remotely seriously, apologies.
By that argument:
[snip]Just because someone suffered due to his experience with a subject, it doesn’t mean that person is unfit to write a book on that subject.
This would be a very legitimate point and I would agree wholeheartedly were it not that the book is a satire.
It would be akin to taking Stephen Colbert seriously. Which.. is actually a thing I have seen happen, depressingly.
Egon was saying (as I understand their point) that Machiavelli would not seriously endorse, let alone attempt to encourage, something that had caused him so much needless hardship.
This is what I’m saying, in part.
Machiavelli suffered during his career in politics. But that doesn’t mean he hates politics. In fact it doesn’t even mean he disagrees with those who caused him to suffer. Because if given the chance, he may have done the same thing.
There was a phase “This is business. No hard feelings.”
[snip]
If you read The Prince, you can clearly see how much passion Machiavelli have for politics.
No, he did love politics. A lot! That’s a point I am certainly not arguing. And if you check his entire body of political work, you’ll realize The Prince is the odd one out and feels very different from everything else he wrote regarding politics, before and after. He also wrote comedy and was adept at it, and was a clever man, so most certainly knew how to write satire.
Imagine a known left-wing author, who is also skilled at comedy, suddenly writing a book about right-wing politicians (after being tormented by them) that paints them as heartless and merciless, then resumes writing books for an audience of his own political leanings again. What do you suppose is going on here?
BTW, Machiavelli supports the idea of Republic.
… Yes?
“The Discourses on Livy describes the historical events that the Roman historian Livy wrote about and commented on in his history of Rome (Ab Urbe Condita); Machiavelli’s work is an “extended meditation on maintaining republican rule,” quite the opposite of The Prince.”
from here: http://eaglefeather.honors.unt.edu/2007/article/233
Anyway, this topic is beginning to veer around wildly and become a historical discussion. I would like to reply to your original argument with a The-Prince-as-sincere approach with this speech from another political satire (though the speech is genuine), The Great Dictator.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FMNFvKEy4c
A bit serious for a gaming discussion, I will very freely admit, but it does address the heart of your the point, and does it well. And it is a video that I honestly believe every person needs to see.
Helping your fellow man (or Tyrian) will often get you much further, much more loved, and therefore, much more support, than relying on ruthlessness, fear, and others in your court who just might be as treacherous as you are, because that sort of thing tends to breed like-minded company. I’d rather follow a leader I can relate to and who I feel actually cares for people like me, and try to dodge anything I would pessimistically view as a wasted effort that, what I feel is an unworthy tyrant-king, might throw my way.
Asuras are actually all bald. The ones with hair are wearing wigs.
Thank you.
I don’t believe it for a second.
Anyway, due to female models using male armour and having bald as an option, I was able to make a male RP character that looks like an aye-aye. I just use the female model.
Is my character bugged, is the engi always focused for everybody, are silvari which I am a race that gets focused???
Another sylvari engineer reporting for duty. This happens to me constantly. I have a little added toughness but not a ton. I also don’t do impressive damage output. No matter what traits I have running, no matter who else is with me and what their build is, I constantly get focused.
It was absolutely horrible in an Arah run, once, where Lupicus was just solely focused on me. And when I’m doing exploration with say, 1 other friend, no matter who the friend is, I get focused by everything.
It’s always weird when I switch to any of my alts (I play all classes) and I’m not getting constantly focused.
So I pose this question to you…
Two alternative worlds…
Ceara One, willingly chooses to become scarlet and go on a murderous rampage.
Ceara Two, has her agency overruled by Mordremoth who causes her to become scarlet and go on a murderous rampage. From our limited view of the situation, how would we know the difference? And in a magical world such as Tyria where coming into unknown and unstable elements has a habit of turning out bad for the person involved. Why would our heroes assume one over two, more so after reading the diary?
Schrödinger’s Scarlet, eh?
The Scarlet in the box is either by choice an omnicidal maniac, or one without free will and is forced to be one by an outside entity. Or, even simultaneously both, maybe.
Scarlet has shown with her character that she is not likely to change, no matter what the driving force is. She’s also shown she will happily kill thousands (I think the Lion’s Arch tally was between 20 and 40 thousand? Very Large Number of some sort) without regard. She’s also exhibited an ability to escape with ease, and has incredible resources at her disposal (somehow).
Logically, the life of one who wishes to destroy others is not worth the lives of many, especially as the many do not wish to harm others. Therefore, the state of the Scarlet in the box does not matter, it’s better to protect the many than to give an opportunity to the one who has a record of treachery.
As unfair as that might seem. And if she really, truly was not acting of her own volition for the most part (I don’t believe it), then that’s a moral conundrum that, hopefully, they’ll actually have the stones to write in for our PCs.
I’ve been playing since launch, and I play all aspects of the game. We’re not common.
I will say that I have only ever once seen another lvl 80 sylvari engineer, but they might have just managed to sneak by me aside from that guy.
Secondly most mentally ill patients do not want saving, partly due to their mental illness rejecting the help of the people trying to help them as hostile. So are you advocating we kill mentally ill patients because they won’t embrace help?
I want to very gently and very carefully state that this is not correct, at all, and trust me when I say that I have close experience with this without having to divulge too much personal information. People who are aware that they are mentally ill frequently do want help because of how detrimentally it can affect their lives and the lives of those around them. They even often turn to self-medication at times out of desperation when they’re not in a financial or social position to receive help. Scarlet does not behave at all like and is not very comparable to a real mentally ill person. I’m not sure if she was written that way intentionally, or if it’s due to a lack of depth in the writing. I suspect the latter.
Even mass murderers who are found insane aren’t sentenced as murderers, they are taken to a place that can hopefully help them and their sentencing is postponed until it can be determined if it is right to hold them responsible for their actions during their insanity.
The insanity defense is rare, has to be plead (mental illness is not assumed by default), and almost never gets accepted anyway, even if a large portion of serial killers do suffer from mental illness – it’s not to a degree that they can’t tell right from wrong. They also often get the death penalty (though not on a successful plea), which again, I do not condone irl, but this is a fantasy game and these circumstances are fantastical.
The only recent successful insanity plea I can think of off the top of my head was John du Pont, and even then, he was still convicted of murder. Third degree, but regardless, that is a murder charge.
Scarlet very much acts like she knows right from wrong.
Most armor looks horrible on Male Sylvari. It’s probably the last race/gender combo I’d ever recommend someone take.
I have four of them.
I wish they’d stop using the weird scaling by body type/height thing that they do because it’s completely broke on sylvari and depressing on asura and charr. And I have three asura..
Attachments:
That’s like saying that Amphicoelias fragillimus was small because it was not quite as monstrously huge as a blue whale.
In comparison to this other massive beast, sure. But you’re still the size of an insect relative to both versions of Zhaitan.
Thankfully I am a very patient man.
A NET, we want more ugly characters! Less dolls, more veterans who bear the sign of battle!
Why do I have a feeling that there be a increase in battle scarred norn npcs now? Is it only me?
Norn NPCs? More scarred-up PCs, please. The only real option for a battle-scarred sylvari (I have four male sylv) is the noseless face, and I’d rather not go muppet-face just yet.
And there aren’t any real face options for male asura, just “terribly old.”
this game needs more quaggan lesbian refugees
Doesn’t every game?
Check out Thermaine at Watchful Source WP in Brisban Wildlands, his dialogue is brutal and impressive, and I’m sad it’s not up on the wiki.
(edited by Egon Vidar.9125)
I tried this on my 3 asura and was completely grossed out so I put it on my main sylvari engineer. Btw, the size of the halo changes based on the height of the asura, was almost invis on min height and bigger on max height. But always hovered way too far forward.. None of my asura really have big hair (and one is bald) but I just couldn’t stand it.
On my engie, it appears to be mounted from one of my branches and clips through that leaf.
It also is not quite properly balanced over my head and, again, leans toward the front. This Sylvari is max height, also, which is why the halo looks absolutely gigantic. I saw it on another sylvari, a medium height female, and it was about “average” sized. It’s ridiculous on norn and max height charr.
Not as horrific as what asura must endure, but good lord. Was this just tested on humans? And what’s with the weird height scaling?
You seem to keep missing the links I keep posting about The Prince being a satire written by a man who was tortured and imprisoned by people who held the very ideals written about in that book.

The problem you have is that many leaders have successfully led through fear and intimidation, despite your claim of the opposite.
Yup, worked really well for Caligula . . .
Congratulations, you had to go back in time 2000 years to find an example. Here’s a more contemporary example. North Korea is in it’s 3rd generation of terror. Seems to work there. Terror doesn’t work everywhere, but it does work. It has worked and will continue to work despite the claims of the romantics.
I could invoke Godwin’s Law and not have to go back 2,000 years, either.
Oh, Stalin didn’t go over very well, either. How are we measuring success here?
I will set the bar and say that vast quantities of your people dying and absolutely despising you does not count in a success, doubly so if they try to or succeed in getting you killed or yanked (rightfully) out of office. So.
Robert Mugabe, Lenin (so many assassination attempts..), Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, Nicholas II of Russia (aka Bloody Nicholas..), Leopold II, Mao Zedong.
There are many more men like these, and history does not look kindly on any of them, for very good reason.
Allow me to point this out a second time regarding Machiavelli.

I think our definitions of “seems to work” might be fundamentally different.
I would link you to the things going on in North Korea right now, but I can’t because the content is too.. extreme to link. I will say “people are starving to death in large numbers in NK and worse things are happening to them than that” and leave it there. You can google if you feel inclined to learn more.
But why do all human major characters have to be beautiful?
The kiss scene sounded fake to me for this reason: both characters looked like dolls. Perfect skin, perfect makeup, the face of a 20 year old victoria secret model.
In general, human models lack the variety of norn ones (to make a comparison with another humanoid species), and that’s a pity.
Because no one wants to look at ugliness, male or female. That’s why all heroes, male or female, appear as cultural ideals.
Speak for yourself. I find “ugly” a lot more interesting.
But does that mean that if two consenting adults fall in love, that we should bring our support to them no matter what? Not just accepting them, but advocating their love as “right”?
Yes. If they are truly two consenting adults, what’s the problem?
To the second, it isn’t right or wrong, as said previously. Love just is. Though some people are happy to advocate for it as it is a positive force, and some are just happy to let it be the thing that it is.
I’m curious to hear what this supposed scientific – genetic and psychological – backing is. I have my own various reasons.
I’m amused that this game, which has undead dragons, walking corpses, Forgal burying axes in things, and countless characters dying in various awful ways, it’s a scene of two people sharing a loving moment that gets people’s hackles up.
Even I thought the scene was handled a bit ham-fistedly and came across as slightly pandering due to how it was written and shot, but I have no issue with the kiss itself.
LA isn’t the only location sunk, so was Droknar’s Forge and the Battle Isles. In all reality, a single peninsula rising from the ocean floor wouldn’t cause that much of a rise in the ocean level, but we just have to take it as a little bit of “suspense of disbelief”
Crusible of eternity now stands Droknar’s Forge use to be. I’m all for a little. But after 2 years it still bugs the living daylights out of me.
Actually, Crucible of Eternity is northeast of old Droknar’s Forge. If you go down into the waters of the lake you can find the sunken ruins of it not far from a Quaggan settlement.
Droknar’s Forge was massive. So it could be parts of the outer wall. But the main part of Droknar’s is where CoE is. Also the ruining may be that of port slege.
A sunamie. May exsploit LA. But the water would reseed. Otherwise other areas along the coast would also be under water but they are not. In fact some are now land locked areas.
Regarding LA, there are caves beneath old Lion’s Arch, I think? Wouldn’t be surprising if the tsunami washed a few of them out and lowered the level of the ground, forming the harbor and leaving old LA stuck down there.
I live in an area with a lot of caves. Sinkholes are terribly common and it’s not unheard of for a flood to sometimes wash caves out and level the ground above.
As nice as this would be, you cannot easily have Game of Thrones-esque serious themes (how one truthfully behave during a war, the cost of honor and your decisions, all these things) in a game of this rating and genre. Well, you can, but it would take a lot of care, skill, and cleverness, and it would be unavoidably dark in some aspects, so I don’t see it happening.. I was actually legitimately surprised (but pleased) when we killed Scarlet, because it seems too grey for the kid-friendly theme Anet almost seems to be trying to cultivate at this point.
That aside, Machiavelli’s The Prince was more than likely a scathing satire, so it probably shouldn’t be used as a source to back this kind of thing..

Story can, indeed, affect rating.
