You, sir, are a genius. The Survivability is nothing short of amazing. Nisha…THE LEGENDARY ENGINEER!

I got bored last night and swapped Supply Crate to Elixir X, after barreling through a Zerg at our Garrison, blocking, evading, etc…

Juggernaut form…Shoulder Rushed into a large group, kicked an Ele in the face, and I happened to yell “HULK SMASH!” right before I did the MEGA STOMP Knockback…hilarious. Saw a few ROFL!s in /say when I did it. Also, I finally felt what it was like for a Keep Lord to get ganged up on. After that was all over, my Self-Regulated Defenses kicked in, so I went small, ran, Bandaged Self, and made it through the crazy within our Garrison.

Also, for the first time, I encounted another TankCAT. Basically it was in a zerg, and we both must have hit Elixir S at the SAME TIME…running away from each other. I couldn’t stop laughing, considering I was able to TINY DUNK an enemy on my way out of the chaos!

As Ubi said, ‘Thank you so much for this’.

Now I understand the problem this would have with Med Kit. I have a solution for this. Once Med Kit is swapped in, 1 is the Big Heal, followed by the same two smaller healing med bags, with the condition remover and the Swiftness/Might potion after.

Uhm, no thank you, medkit works great as it is, I dont want to have to equip it before being able to use its big heal.

If a freely customizable F1-F4 option would see light it should only be F2-F4, F1 should stay as it is to not overpower the heals. Imsgine healing turret with medkit F1 skill, with reseting heal at 25%HP and reseting toolbelt skills at 25%HP…

The other F buttons would be viable options though. However, I would probably only switch out 1 utility skill, which would be my rifle turret, since goggles and toolkit are just so nice.

Now that you mentioned it…I was wrong. I just recently started to use Med Kit (from Elixir H), and am starting to see how much more valuable it is in WvW. Yes. F2-F4 would be viable, non OP options. It still would provide for alot of customization. keeping that F1 slot for the healings

Every time I put on the Goggles, the Slick Shoes, The Battering Ram…I feel like Data from THE GOONIES

Speaking of Elementalists…anyone else sick and tired of seeing the Dagger/Dagger Eles? When you finally tool them down to almost no health, they fly away(way too fast), invulnerable, and regen all HP to come at you again. I swear that is all I’m seeing in WvW these days…

About the Toolbelt… I was thinking about the whole ‘customization’ idea the other day. I would love to put any Toolbelt Skill of my choosing into those four slots without having it tied to the Utility skill.

Example:
Rocket, Mine Field, Toss Elixir S, Super Speed in Toolbelt slots

Now I understand the problem this would have with Med Kit. I have a solution for this. Once Med Kit is swapped in, 1 is the Big Heal, followed by the same two smaller healing med bags, with the condition remover and the Swiftness/Might potion after.

Just something I think would give us that edge that we need to be a more attractive class, and keep us off the endangered species list

As far as OP classes, right now D/D Elementalists are on my list. It’s just a nightmare to fight(at least to me).

It’s WvW. For me, the fun is in the battles, whether that be 1v1 or zerg vs zerg. The score is secondary.

The real problem with the Engineer class.

in Engineer

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

Really sick and tired of the D/D Elementalist…it seems that is all I see in WvW…and when you come close to killing them…they WTFOMGLIGHTNINGINVULNERABLEFLY away…only to come back in a matter of seconds at full health, while you are still trying to recover.

Half our stuff doesn’t work. Retaliation? Kinda, when Elixir B is in the mood.
Rocket boots? Well, it does the trick, but it only launches you back a LITTLE ways in WvW/PvP. It’s a clunky class, with parts that are rusted, and rarely does the Engine turn over.

I was in a 1v1 match against another Engineer, and she drew out her FT. Close range…Missed. COMPLETELY. I was in her face, and it missed. At that moment, I FELT her frustration…What did I do? I ran away. Why? Because how messed up that was. I should have been INCINERATED. But no. The whole thing missed.

Next I come up against a Thief…consistently using CnD, P/D…just chewin’ me to pieces. I’m full exotics, with Rune of the Dolyak, Tome of the Rubicon Ascended Backpiece…I did everything I knew how to do for TankCAT.. came close to droppin’ the Thief as well, but popped Shadow Refuge, and then became visible way across my screen….and came back again…Same thing happened….I came close and he ran away AGAIN…finally I gave up and just /sit. He popped up and killed me. By that time I was just tired of the dumb kitten that all Thieves seem to do.

We don’t have any damage output that can match the other classes. We should, but we don’t.

I’m pessimistic to the point that I play for about an hour, then leave.

I’m pessimistic that ANYTHING will be done for this FLAWED, FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER Class that was cobbled together without any consideration as to how it would stand against the other classes.

Simply put, I have NO FAITH in ANet…except for them to give us another nerf, and keep buffing the other classes.

We need to stop complaining fast and why

in Engineer

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

I have ZERO hope for any fixes for Engineer. We work Ten times as hard as the other classes, with half(or more!) our abilities bugged to hell and back. ANet is like Dr. Frankenstein, and the Engineer is it’s Monster. It doesn’t know what to do with it, as it’s just thrown together with bits and pieces of ideas, is what it feels like.

I doubt they will ever fix this class, folks. Why? Because of the OP potential. We, the players are ‘highly versatile’, not the class. We are the versatility of the class because we have to WORK AROUND ALL THE BUGS. Don’t you love it when you Drink Elixir B, and there is little to no effect?

I’m usually an upbeat guy. I can find the silver lining in almost anything. It’s just sad that every patch, EVERY PATCH, seems to move the Engineer closer and closer to the endangered species list. Heck, there are people who won’t run Dungeons with Engineers. To quote a friend: “No offense buddy. But Engies are worthless.”

I apologize if this seems like a ‘whine’. I don’t mean it to be. It’s just…frustrating…when you have all these cool toys that barely function, and you can’t return them to the store because the manager has already closed shop and moved to another country.

Apparently thieves are OP...

Ejiofor.4801

I play an Engineer. I know that some Thieves see me as ‘easy pickins’…

My counter to a Thief?
1. Drink Elixir B for Retaliation, Fury, Might, and Taters
2. Pry Bar to the Face
3. Drop Box of Nails
4. Watch as Thief limps away with 1/4 of his HP left
5. Drop Supply Crate on his kitten
6. Pull out my Wrench and beat him to death with it, while quoting Bane, saying “The Shadows betray you, because they belong to me!”
7. Drink Elixir S, and FINISH HIM as a tiny version of You. Demoralizing.

Of course, this is just one of many counters to a Thief using my Engineer.

The ONLY issue I have with Thief is CULLING. That’s it. No other mechanics issues. None. Zip. Zilch. Nadda.(I’m still learning to play my Thief)

Also, there players who do not know how to play a Thief. These are the Thieves that melt REALLY fast.

I am one of these Thieves. I suck so hard it’s sad.

I am slowly but surely ‘learning to play’. It’s good advice. I’ll roll with it regarding my Thief.

There are also people who know the class, and can play a Darn good Thief. I’ve encountered them and was beaten. Badly. Am I griping about that? Nope. Just gotta adjust my tactics.

Peace!

To quote my personal hero, Jack Burton, on how I feel when I see a HORDE of SoR or BG comin’ at us Toasters, I say this:

“Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.”

How to counter a Thief…Lessee here
rummages in his tool kit

I am an Engineer, and got a few snide remarks, mainly centering around ‘L2P, noob’. ‘L2P’…that’s actually good advice…

So I did. I learned to play. I watched. I practiced in sPvP. I got worked over somethin’ fierce.

Thieves…my Tool Kit is their worst enemy. Once in close I pop Gear Shield, wait for two seconds then PRY BAR the Thief in the Face while he’s attacking me. (this usually drops his health by AT LEAST half). You can almost see it…the thief, while skilled, widens his eyes as the PRY BAR comes at his face. There is a crunch, and he is so confused by the Counter that he winds up nearly eviscerating himself…and while he is reeling and attempting to escape, there is a pain in his feet…a familiar pain…Nails. Thousands of them. He limps, then suddenly he’s stuck, and is yanked back to his ‘Easy Target’…three hits to his face…A Wrench. He drops, and the Engineer stands over him. He looks at his Wrench, and smiles.

“Hmm. Well that worked!”

This is just one of many ways I counter Thieves.
I do encounter people who know how to play the class, and I will get outplayed. It happens. THERE ARE BETTER PLAYERS THAN ME. Always will be.

Each class can be improved. Each class has bugs. Each class calls all the other classes OP.(e.g. A guildie, who is a Thief, actually said ‘Engi grenades are OP!’ I laughed and said ‘DUDE! They just got nerfed! LOL’).

The MOST prevalent issue I have with Thieves is not the class itself. It’s simply the issue of Culling. And I’m jealous of their burst damage. So jealous!

What other prof has the variety of an Eng?

in Engineer

Ejiofor.4801

I started GW2 playing an Engineer, running through nearly every combination of kits/elixirs and traits. The learning curve for the Engineer, is MUCH higher, as you have to work around the bugs, as well as some of the random effects of the ‘Toss Elixir’ toolbelt skill(e.g. Elixir H tossed should have ALL of those boons tacked on, not just one). Thus, when I started leveling a Guardian and Thief, I was AMAZED at how easy they were to play. The Warrior does not attract me in the slightest. Too straightforward (all I see Warriors do is what someone called the ‘WTFBBQROFLCOPTER Warrior move’. It’s pretty accurate.

As an Engineer I love my tank build (rifle/tool kit/Elixir B/Elixir S/Med Kit/Supply Crate OR Mortar. With the Rifle I have solid control skills(Net shot one opponent, Overcharge Shot to another for knockback, Jump Shot into that guy you knockbacked for a ton of ‘Stompin’ Damage’…by the time you do that, Net shot is recharged to get that other guy AGAIN).

My advice? Give it a shot. Try everything in sPvP. Eventually you will find a comfortable build that suits your playstyle. And…you will get a couple of double takes by that Thief/Warrior who thought you were easy prey

I nominate Yak’s Bend. This server is the epitomy of class, both in game and on this forum. For the number of players they have, they put up a massive fight and are fierce defenders of their realm. On the forums, they are nothing but ladies and gentlemen and participate in discussions respectfully. (CD is a close second for me for similar reasons).

This right here. I second the nomination of YAK’S BEND. Had some memorable clashes with these folks. First time I jumped in WvW, and fought(and lost) to a Yak’s Bend Player, he did a /salute. This type of attitude is consistent with this ‘sleeper’ Server. Watch for some amazing gameplay by these folks!

Ejiofor.4801

Prybar…just a good old time…especially when you drink an Elixir B in anticipation of a Thief coming up behind you in a 1v1 fight…

Great Build! I just used Tool Kit/Rifle instead of Pistol/Shield. I like to use Overcharged Shot and Net Shot ALOT. Med Kit/Elixir B/Elixir S/Tool Kit/Mortar(because you never know when you need to bring portable siege!)Also, I use Stabilized Armor to compliment Speedy Kits initiated trait in Alchemy, Invigorating Speed, and Fast Acting Elixirs. Also took your advice and swapped to Med Kit, instead of using Elixir H. At first it was a bit ‘clunky’ to me, but after a little time, I found it to be more useful. I stopped thinking about my Engineer as a Support type for others(used to Healing/Crowd Control/Buff/Debuff roll in City of Heroes and SW:TOR), and focused on my own survival. For Runes I chose Superior Runes of the Fighter(Power and Toughness! Might for 20 secs with Sixth Rune!), and Put Crest of the Soldier in my Rifle(went broke due to hookers and booze XD), with Trinkets focused infused with Crests of the Soldier as well(when in doubt, beef up base stats, I say). Altogether an amazing build that you have given us, O Venerable Engineer!

Got REALLY lucky in this one fight. I was suffering from a condition, the Thief was Stealthed. I accidentally popped Elixir S(meant to pop Elixir B ), and sure enough the Backstab happened…and he missed(or Invulnerable, rather, but you get the point)…Prybar, Thwack, Whack and Smack…He’s down…QUICKLY! Swap to Rifle and close range Jump Shot. Flattened like a pancake, and… I backed up, /bow, toss my Elixir R(which Stealthed me, which I was hoping for), swapped to Tool Kit, and sped off. Injury to insult…

This situation is RARE for me. I’m an average Engineer. Not great, but I find myself having a few outstanding moments that reinforces my love for the Engineer Class. I’m sure this Thief thought I was ‘easy pickinz’. But thanks to ALOT of reading in regards to what others do (You, My fellow Engineers), I was able to pull a Bane vs. Batman in TDKR, and pluck him out of the Dark, because at that moment, ‘The Shadows belong[ed] to me!’

Absolutely. Wasdclick +1 indeed!

I’m a fan of small, but effective changes to the functionality of the various kits/elixirs/turrets. The ones you listed are well thought out. Just a few tweaks, some synergy with traits/elixirs/kits/turrets and we’ll become the Flavor of the Month, hehe…just as D/D Elementalists are…

As for mines, I would LOVE to see more of this utlity skill, instead of something that was just ‘thrown in there’. Adding a ‘proximity’ and ‘stealth’ component to mines would be nice. Most see ’em, and just…move around them, considering the blast radius is minimal…perhaps a magnetic mine with a Targeted AoE effect?

At any rate, great post. Us die hard Engineers love the variety the class has to offer, and know that this class will be great. Even after all the nerfs, I still hold out that the Engineer will be the breakout class to play.

It’s fun to see TC being kitted by numbers being overwhelmed this time where FA have confronted so many times. But also in that process losing their keep/tower in process with litterally no defend. =/

here’s the key difference though. none of us are whining like little princesses about it. quite the contrary, if you bother to actually read through the thread. yes, we’re getting beaten, but we’re proud that we’re not backed up to our spawn like we were the last time we went against BG or SoR. i suppose you wouldn’t know about that, since FA was completely nonexistant during the match against BG. both of our servers showed our true colors during that match. we kept coming back after getting pounded into the dust, your server ran away with its tail between its legs. if you don’t believe me, ask the people from BG who were involved in that match as to their view of the situation. it wasn’t difficult to see.

perhaps if you spent less time being spiteful, and more time improving, you’d give your server a better chance in the future? and, just to make it perfectly clear, whining =/=winning. while they’re spelled fairly similar to each other, the two words very different. you may want to check websters again so you can change your approach.

Exactly. As for whining? I have yet to see TC do anything like that. We’re a solid server, and I think a bunch of others think that RPers are pushovers. Quite the contrary: we can be just as competitive as the other servers.

I think as a whole TC has come a LONG way from where we once were. There have been VAST improvements. The fact the TC has some great commanders, and those who learn as they go(like myself), AND our advancement up in the tiers is proof THAT WE ARE BETTER THAN WE WERE. We don’t make a big deal out of it, we just play, have fun, and communicate effectively.

Sure, it’s easy to transfer to another server. It’s easy to be a part of the ‘winning’ team. But that’s a cop out, and unfulfilling. Anything worth having is worked for. And for the TC WvW folks like myself, we’ve EARNED our place here in Tier 2.

Love and Respect!

First off…

You are hilarious! While reading it, I spit up my coffee. A fun read, and a nice, humor filled approach to the issues that are associated with Engineer.

Second…

I was drawn to the Engineer just like most. Bombs? Yes! Mines? Oh really? Sign me up! Turrets, Mortar? Can this get any better? Rocket Boots, A Wrench that packs a wallop, Personal Battering Ram!!? Are you serious!??? OMG I gotta change my pants!

I was shocked when I first saw the Warrior with the Rifle…Was not happy about it, considering my Rifle is a pee shooter compared to the firepower and range their rifle has. If ranged, we should get their Rifle Damage and Range Stats. It’s that Simple. Warriors have access to so many weapons…What do we get? Rifle, Pistol/Pistol, Pistol/Shield…and lackluster kits, of which most of those kit abilities are bugged to Hell and back.
I was really expecting alot from the turrets. And realizing that they are underwhelming when I deployed all three(like you I saw them VAPORIZED inside of 2 seconds in WvW even with the traits that buff them up and was like "Wait, what? WTF?O.o) gave me pause…and made me swap to a Rifle/Elixir/Tool Kit build. I want the Turrets. Love them. That’s the heart of the Engineer, because there are so many of them to play with.

Then…
Underwhelmed. It’s safe to say that most who play Engineers have gripes with the ‘versatility’, and we do, as you say, NEED SOME SERIOUS LUBBINS.

As for Turrets…yeah they absolutely need to be a hell of alot faster in their firing rates(about as fast as you can use Hip Shot or Explosive shot). And instead of the wasted ‘Overcharge’, why not make the Turret’s Overcharge ability go off every Third Attack?

I’ll keep pluggin’ away with my Engineer, in the hopes that the designers read threads like these, know that we are not hate-filled, entitled nerds that DEMAND A FIX. Most of us Engineer lovers are reasonable, and offer up solid solutions to a class that is just above functionality, but on the verge of being seriously broken, and beyond repair.

Again, great post. Love those ideas!

I second this as well. I love playing my Engineer. And like many here, have probably tried EVERYTHING the Engineer has to offer. It’s a shame that most of the weapon kits are so bugged that I get wrecked even when I pull off what would have been a killer combo splat attack on my enemy in WvW. A guildmate was asking about Engineers, and after I told him a bit about it, he said “It seems ANet made a class for the rest to destroy, dude.”… It got me thinking…‘maybe he’s right’…

Engineer Revamp Plan

I love the Turret Kit idea. I became an Engineer because of Turrets. However, when using them in W3, I had the issue of the turrets being melted in a matter of seconds. So, I mainly use the Rifle Turret for the Surprise shot traited with Static Shot(like all my toolbelt skills). I saw the Turrets as the bread and butter of the Engineers. When I saw how lack luster they were, I was disheartened.

However, I still have hope. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the devs take a look at these ideas you fellas have posted in this thread

LOL! Remember when this thread started out as

“This is gonna be fun, guys!”
“Yeah! Welcome to T2!”
“Stay outta my BL, freak!”
“Whomever was that Mesmer from (insert server name here), that was an awesome fight!”

Now the honeymoon is over. kitten just got real! XD

I think we all need to lighten up, and quit getting kitten hurt over a game.

On a good note, BG and SoR players have made me a better Engineer, keeping me on my toes.

So for that I say “THANK YOU, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN of Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall!”

Still no hating. Much love and respect!

[IDEA] Fixing Engineer Versatility.

in Engineer

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

I’ve been thinking about this myself.

I like having my toolbelt skills. And I like certain kits…

Got me thinking, regarding Engineer versatility.

Why not have specific toolbelt skills associated directly with the kit/weapon?

e.g. Rifle w/toolbelt skills such as Incendiary Ammo, Analyze, Surprise Shot, and Toss Elixir B. You could have three, then the fourth slot for the ‘Toss’ function of Elixirs to round out the toolbelt. Also swap out the damage and range of the warriors rifle with the Engineers. Same could be done with the Pistols. This would apply to Kits only. Gadgets would still have their uses, but the Gadget’s toolbelt ability would be applied to the appropriate Weapon Kit.

This is just something I was thinking about the other day. I see myself as a decent Engineer(I still love the class no matter how much it needs to be fixed ), but find myself doing 5-7 things to get some decent damage while taking a multitude of hits from everyone else who use maybe one or three attacks to achieve what they are needing to(e.g. Thief CnD, then Backstab, then Deathblossom giving them incredible damage(and a built in Evade) that requires three buttons to achieve a variety of results?).

At any rate, that’s my point of view, and just an idea.

Please…for the love of all that is holy, stop nerfing Engineers. It is a BROKEN Class that NEEDS to be fixed. Or better yet, just get rid of the class altogether.

Suggestion regarding Kits:
*When a Kit is Swapped, perhaps the Toolbelt Skills swap with a different set of toolbelt skills to compliment the Kit?

*Rework Tier 3 Trait skills across the board. PERIOD. Some are just headscratchers, and are weak compared to other classes, and in need of SERIOUS IMPROVEMENT.

*Bugs…There are ALOT of them regarding kits (e.g. FT misses more often than not).

*Make Turrets more viable.

*Rifle…Swap Damage Numbers and Range with those of the Warrior’s Rifle Skill.

*Kits, Gadgets, and Elixirs are really clunky and need to be streamlined to something more viable (e.g. larger Elixir Radius). Also, Mortar. It’s sad when a Longbow has GREATER distance than Mortar. Elixirs tossed are worthless, considering your team is constantly moving.

That’s it for me.

Coming from a person who has learned ALOT from my fellow Toasters regarding WvW, I’m looking forward to taking on BG and SoR (I’ll probably get packed in a bowl and smoked, but I’ll have fun nonetheless).

Things I will do:
*Use Tool Kit like a champ
*Use /me laughs, because I’m probably having a great time
*Use /e bow if I win in 1v1(respect, people. That’s what’s up)
*Watch and learn from better players (Listening follows this, of course )

Things I won’t do:
*Exploit or Hack (Why? Because I wouldn’t know how)
*Run in and burn down one guy when there is already a Mob on that one guy.
*Be rude
*Not learn anything from better players

That’s about it!

Respect!

The ZAPPLANT build: Prybar ALL the faces!

in Engineer

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

I chose to run a variation of this, using a 0/20/0/30/20 build with Rifle. Also, Elixir H, Elixir B, Rocket Boots, and Tool Kit with the Elite Mortar. Knight’s Gear, with Emerald Exotic Jewelry, Plus I run with Superior Runes of The Fighter(I know it’s a bit odd, but I like having my Rifle with Bloodlust Sigil being able to hit with a punch after 25 stacks)

I use the Mortar exclusively when we are in WvW, and our guys are trying to press the advantage and drive the opponent Zerg back…Run in, Drop Mortar, start firing. It gives the group the advantage it needs to press forward. I step away, use my Jump Shot to get into the fray, Rocket Kick someone in the face, and swap to Tool Kit and start with the Prybar and face hitting, and not to mention that wonderful Magnet(being able to pull someone close while moving? Yeah. Love that, man ) Good stuff.

I have tried so many builds, and this one works for me. If my team needs that extra boost, I toss that Elixir B(Alchemy Trait to remove conditions, along with increase in recharge and Duration).

For the longest time I was being eaten alive by Warriors, and actively avoided them as much as I could. Now, with practice, and a better understanding, I actively seek them out. Thieves? I just keep my distance and try and pop my Immobs and Knockbacks as much as I can.

I love Engineer. Yes, we have been nerfed, but I feel that we will get our dues. I believe our patience will pay off, as we are the Sleeper Class, and the Engineer will be the one you want to run away from

Engineer: Am I Doing It Wrong? (P/P Elixir)

in Engineer

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

I started out with a similar build! I went Dual Pistols with Elixir H/Elixir B/Elixir U/Elixir R. Elixir B+Elixir U followed by Poison Dart Volley, Blowtorch, and Explosive Shot will melt a fool, especially with PISTOL SHOTS PIERCE! It’s delicious, and stays crispy in milk!

I’ve wrecked as a Dual Pistols Engineers. However, I’m more in between support/CC/DPS. Thusly said, I started messing with a Rifle/Elixir H/Rocket boots/Grenades(or Rocket Turret)/Elixir R with Mortar as Elite.

Also look at Utility skills that compliment your pistols. Rocket Boots are nice for breaking the immob/stun, and the rocket kick does 2k burning damage over 5 secs.

I don’t think we will ever put out the kind of damage that a warrior or thief does. But that doesn’t mean we can’t hold our own. Using your tossed elixirs on a group is nice. People will love you. Trust me. Slick Shoes, Glue Shot, Net Turret, Rocket boots, can do amazing things(but also make you a target. People will notice you).

Mobility: loads. However, if you are being jumped by two or more, drop a Glue Shot(dual pistols) or use Net+Jump Shot(Rifle). Slot tools with the 5 second swiftness when kit is equipped, and you have nigh-perma-swiftness(great for WvW).

Also, PvP is different than WvW or PvE. In PvE Dungeons, Engineers are highly sought after for our versatility. We have a variety of skills and utilities at our disposal for almost every situation. WvW, a single engineer can change the tide of an enemy zerg, or break a ‘Mexican Standoff’. Example: came up an a group larger than ours, and started tossing elixirs. Ran to the front tossing grenades. Dropped Mortar. Started launching into the ‘Turtle’. This gave the opening for the small group to rush in and wreck that larger group. Engineers can do amazing things.

I love my Engineer. I just suck at playing my Thief! XD

Respectfully,
Eijofor Suun

I read Sharpclaw’s statement concerning the match up, and couldn’t agree more. It’s been a fun week. CD and YB you guys are awesome.

The one thing I can say about TC is that we communicate extremely well(at least from my perspective), and as someone said earlier, have quick mobility. For me, these are the two key factors for any sound strategy.

As for CD and your numbers, you do a great job! I only have issues with 3 or 4 on 1(the times I got caught with my britches down, hehe), but I tend to laugh and have a good time.

YB? You can be downright VICIOUS, which is cool! Healthy competition only makes you and your server BETTER!

All in all, just a fantastic match up. I salute both of you, Crystal Desert and Yak’s Bend.

Respectfully,

My main is an Engineer. 80 with full Exotics. I have it as a Tank Spec in WvW, and use Mortar ALOT. A single Engineer with Mortar can slow, if not stop, a zerg in it’s tracks, by letting the team rush forward. Dropping this down, and launching it into an opposing team pushes them back. Even one Engineer can make a difference, and turn the tide(Mortar has a nice AoE Heal). If that’s not support I don’t know what is! lol

Warriors and Thieves? Glue Shot, Poison Dart Volley, and Blowtorch has worked well against them. Slick Shoes stop them cold, and gives you a huge opening when they fall. Using a Shield/Pistol works nicely, as well as Tool Kit(box of nails, Pry Bar, and Thwack, along with Gear Shield is nice). I use this combo when it’s time to go melee. Alchemy(properly slotted) can give you amazing survivability. The trick is using trait skills that compliment each other. But that’s just me.

My main problem is I have too many fun toys to play with.

Yes. Warriors and Thieves have High DPS. Get an Engineer who knows what they are doing, who has a fundamental grasp of their traits and skills, and he/she can wear you down.

I don’t gripe about the ‘serious buff needed’. If the devs decide it’s needed, then good. I play to have fun. This class jumped out at me because of the unique-ness of it. It’s technical, yes, but extremely enjoyable.

Engineer problems

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Ejiofor.4801

Ejiofor.4801

I can relate to some of the problems that come with playing an Engineer. While I am ‘okay’ at PvP, I see that a)turrets are only good with a Supply Crate (although Rocket Belt is pretty neat), b) even with Smart Cast, Grenades still have the issue of wondering how far they can be tossed. I mainly use my stun breakers and my Slick Shoes, and have now adopted the pistol/shield combo. Have the personal battering ram helps with keeping them at range.

After working on my Engineer, I made a Thief. I understand now why I see a ton in sPvP. They are easy to play, and require very little skill, considering Heartseeker and Death Blossom are the two skills I use alot(saw others use these two almost exclusively in sPvP).

Addendum: is there a Mesmer ability that lets you go from NO HEALTH to FULL HEALTH in 2 SECONDS? I fought a Mesmer in sPvP(it wasn’t one of the illusions), and this happened after dropping Bomb Kits all over the place (had the Mesmer cornered).

At any rate, see you all in game!
