While this dosnt explain Gleam, I always thought Aurene’s pops was mordy (since she kinda looks like him) whoever it was the rush of magic that “fertizlied” the egg.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again ranger is actually in a good spot, druid tool us there and if base ranger had better cleanse you could drop druid completely.

I’ve been wrecking other power classes as base ranger, and enjoyed a lot of roaming, team fights it drops a off due to lack of cleanse and reflects but boii is it fun to play.

A lot of people in this thread, Jesus I can see your salt pouring out of the screen. Your either asking for things that won’t happen or wishing us to be broken.

I get 6-9k rapped fire bursts plus a 5k burst with pet, if I proc moment of clarity with gs 2 that’s 6-8k damage depending on target toughness.

Rofl have you ever caught someone with an axe 5, hell even the retal will burn a class down.

Rangers have great up front deeps, they tend to drop off after that.

Yes base pets are weak a net should fix them since they are our classes mechanic.

If you guys are this unhappy with the class reroll or play another game until a balance patch fixes the problem.

I think they added this to incentive people to fight over T3 objectives instead of paper ones… Most of the time you see zergs only going for paper stuff to K-train while avoiding upgraded defended objectives because of how much time/effort consuming they are.

yes it will in fact I’ve seen alot more class diversity since hot. like every class has a niche in every game mode and theres a power/condi varient to every class, and support builds theres ones that are due better in certain areas or situations but generally lately i haven’t been seeing to much class stacking.

however anet has to make sure the next elite specs are not stronger than the hot ones otherwise its going to be the same cycle. Like for example lets the next ranger one is offensive so thus you’d have to choose between doing good deeps or bringing support with druid. (I do play quite a bit of vanilla ranger but lets face it like every other the class the elite spec is just too good not to take when your doing anything bigger than a 1v1.)

As much as I love the 4 stat combos i think they hurt the balance as its every easy to build for sustain and damage.

I have solved my WvW dilema… After all this linking and relinking I finally got to the point where I don’t give a rats butt about scores period. Frankly don’t care if someone caps something since it can be capped back. What I do like to do is get a small group and just go in and take everything we can, have some fights (not blobs)… and maybe defend if it’s a T3 keep … I mean ya don’t wanna lose those wp’s!

This is what I do. There are constant constant fights at anytime of day.

1st off Nobody really knows what would be good for wvw. I see posts about make it more defensible!! Hmmm wouldn’t that stall fights and just kill small roaming play? 2nd roaming is dead (not true at all) . Literally played every tier and roaming is not dead. Hell even during evening time at teir 1 I’ve been able to solo towers.
I’ve had some good small scale fights and even seen other guilds let me be to 1v1 one dudes. Some honorable mentions of cool guy guilds that haven’t hate whispered me and totally let me be when dueling QQ,Lose, os (some of your guys are total bros)

3rd power creep balance is broken, hot killed everything. I can partially agree with power creep. We probably won’t see real build diversity until the next expac when more elite specs are introdeced. (The elite specs filled gaps in each class thus making them super strong)))
I think it’s more of the hot stat/consumable creep than anything.

4th wvwers are giant hypocrites. We cry everyone’s not running zerker and yet will run 3k armour and or damage reduction. meta builds users will cry and rage and call you broken even though they’re Cleary useing a copy paste build off of meta battle. When I loose fights I think hmm what can I do to counter this or improve my build
The only type of build I get annoyed with is a full celestial/nomads/minstrel druid or ele. They literally just. Troll builds once again it’s the stats not the class that break them.

TLTR: get ur kitten together and stop being so buthurt about everything so anet can actually know what to fix.

Hmm… seems to be on the right track but not nearly there, Triss. Rather than on Swoop, what about altering the fury application on Two-Handed Training to be like multiple traits where half of it applies to a set of weapons while the other half – in this case, the fury, is more universal?

That said, what about:

Two-Handed Training: Greatsword and Spear skills recharge 20% faster and deal 5% more damage (same). Gain Fury (3s) when you Daze, Stun, Knockback, or Knockdown a foe with a weapon skill.

This way, it can sync up with Moment of Clarity and the Fury application can be more focused to increase the potency of Remorseless builds. On the flip side, it will only work when doing the above listed hard CCs with weapon skills.

That cuts out some Druid synergy with Celestial Form, Primal Echoes, and Glyph of Equality and Tides as those are transformation skills and utilities. This way, it does not empower Druid further, allowing core Ranger to stand on its own.

This also makes it exclusive to Two-Handed weapons with the exclusion of a Pull CC which links to off-hand Axe (Path of Scars). So, at least Longbow and Shortbow can now have some use and synergy with this trait on Point Blank Shot and Concussion Shot.

I might add this to the main list.

I love it but wouldn’t that be more of a buff rather than QoL?

Honestly, I don’t think the problem is in the trait system but in how some trait lines became mandatory to certain professions in a way it feels everyone run the same. That without counting how Elite Specs are pretty much mandatory as well so you are stuck with a single trait line that may or may not change according to the player.

Rangers are always Druid/Beastmaster/somenthing so they can run their shout bunker bullkitten with buffed pets.

Rangers also run mm/ws. I also see a lot of skirmishing builds lately.

We actually have a lot of usefull stuff atm.

I think it’s the stats and food that are broken.

Like for example rangers power caps out at 2300 gear wise, well you might as well loose abit and gain all that in might stacking

Warriors, revs, and mesmers can now build to be tanky as kitten 3k armour and still do insane amount of damage. Plus the damage reduction food and ferocity based on toughness.

I think it’s mainly the stats that are broken. As for build variety we’ll probably see way more when the next expac comes.

The sad The thing with the elite specs is they all tried to plug holes into were classes were weak so ofc your going to take that.

That’s more of a problem with noobs with knockbacks of anything. I see dhs yank knockback peeps out of aoes all the time nobody gets upset cause they’re new spec

Druid did a lot for us now here’s to hoping our next spec is offensive oriented

You seem to be pretty much on the right track. The only things I can think of are:

• Always try to swap your pet before it dies.
• Depending on the mob, it’s generally best to open/swap to Longbow (LB) for burst, but swap back to Greatsword (GS) while you wait for cooldowns. It helps to use LB 3 just before LB 5 to relieve pressure off of you while you stand still.
• Don’t be that prick who knocks mobs away from other melee players with LB 4.
• Felines, such as Jaguar, have the highest DPS of vanilla pets, while Bears are the tankiest. Mind you, using a bear-pet, with a longbow is known as “Bearbow”, and it is the shame of all nooby Rangers. Try not to be caught like that too often.
• After Marksmanship, the next line you will likely want to go for is Skirmishing. Quickdraw is amazing.
• Until you hit lvl 80, I wouldn’t stress about your gear. Just equip whatever’s best that you happen to pick up.
• Finally, while Signets are ok, I would use more Survival or Shout skills after you fully Unlock Skirmishing. Go Beastmastery last if you want Shouts, or Wilderness Survival if you want Survival skills.

We still QQing over this it was a good nerf and made a lot of sense. I loved ranger since gw1 and I don’t like nerfs either but man that 10 CD get out of jail free card was broke as kitten (ofc I used and abused it too cuz why not) and just as annoying as a pu mesmer, Nike warrior, celestial ele and ghost teef
Hell15secs isn’t even that bad hell I’ve barely noticed a difference when I take druid. Hell this last patch actually encouraged me to roll base ranger mm for the unlockable pet and the sexy sexy synergy when you pull of a MofC with a maul and opening strike.

Things like the mushrooms clearing only 1 Condi on delay is stuff people should be upset about about.

Things like pets other than 2 being slow as hell and unable to hit there target.

Things like glyph of unity and alignment being almost completely usless.

Thank you anet this last patch was a good balance choice I hope y’all continue to work on other traitlines and this year was a fantastic year for ranger. We’re actually meta for a year

You can say the same thing about every profession every elite spec is better than the base.

I myself play base ranger quite often but, either shouts or wilderness survival with either trooper or leadership runes.
it still sucks against condi classes (memsers, Condi wars, burn guards and necrosis) and anything bigger than 2v2.
However it’s real Good against power builds unless they’re half bunker. (Aka eles and Druids with high toughness and healing)

If anet tweaked sig of renewal a bit I’d probably will only play base ranger

To other rangers, devistation traited revs, necros, staff eles, and Condi teefs it’s op especially when you fight more than one druid.

However to guards, warrriors, ret traited revs, power dds, mesmers, dagger eles, engies, it’s freaking ussless.

This makes me wonder what class is your main?

Yeah, the nerfs to CAF and healing have gutted the one viable build Druid has.

Good stability uptime? Nope. Not with 75s cooldown on RaO.
Good defense against direct damage? Nope. Only usable amulet has 0 toughness.
Good condi removal? Nope. Not with 15s gate on CAF.
Good mobility? Not as good as thief and Mesmer, the latter of which can also win 1v1.

Good target? You bet. Low damage and crappy escape, especially in opening battle with uncharged AF.

Best way to win match, just go after Druid whenever you see it. It has to run from you.

Most of your points are very very questionable.

If your running shouts with trooper or ws skills with leader ship runes that’s plenty Condi cleanse with the druid trait line

Druids have tons of damage reduction and high protection uptime, you shouldn’t be getting destroyed by direct damage,

And you shouldn’t be loosing 1v1s except for maybe a against a good Condi warrior, and it’s a toss up against Condi mesmer,

Druid has plenty of mobility and good stun breaks I fail to see how you can’t escape fights

I can under stand your point about the the burst damage (however gs is pretty kitten now) stab other than that I really haven’t noticed much of a nerf you just have to time your stuff now. If I’m playing bunker druid I usually have time to pop RaO twice,

Lately I’ve been running seekers amulet, while it makes me more glassy against condis (even so I still win most encounters against condi classes , I have my high protection uptime to carry me against direct damage not to mention damage reduction and stone is still really nice)

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Some situations it’s better to kill the clones (especially if you have aoe) however it’s better to just kite back and focos the real mesmer. Also yea it’s a hard fight with sb. Try leadership runes if your running ws survival traits (just gives a nice clear every time you pop entangle)

Also would help if you have an alt free for mes try it out in pvp running the.meta build so you can get a feel for what they’re trying to do too and know what skills they have)

Yea also use hunters shot in the clones so it don’t get reflected or blocked

As much as I would love this, it probably wouldn’t happen as rangers would become the slayers of all blocking classes, due to how much unlockable we would have access to, and then everyone would cry and we’d immediately would get nerfed.

I would love for OS to be re-appied every time fury is applied to you making remorseless very very nasty.

They should make moment of clarity unlockable though since its only 1 attack and if your traited for it you have to have the ducking stars to align to pull it of right anyways

Here’s some simple tips

First always kite, if they pin you in the middle of their clones your kittened like the ones said above hunters shot and making them chase you are key.

Secondly always always retarget when soloing I ALWAYS call target on the real one to keep track of them better, in wvw look for the food buff. Don’t waste your burst on the clones unless your traited to pierce or are using an aoe (mesmers biggest contribution to seeps is through their clones so if you can negate the damage done by them, then your ahead of the game.

Finally, bring more cleanse!!! I really really like trooper runes or using survival skills with leadership runes when traited because I can time smaller cleanses and save celestial form for the big cc/ clone bomb

Bonus* if you have a bunch of torment and confusion on you just slow down!!! Remember if you move with torment on or attack like crazy with confusion on you’ll kill yourself, just micro manage your mini cleanses and time them with your bursts!!!

I cannot stress how much you need to be patient, if you panic and hit every button good bye my friend.

PLz its pretty wack i never ever get to use the pretty cool looking spirits in wvw, ANet give ranger spirits a rework!! like you did with the shouts!!!

This is ok, but if you’re in melee with someone it would leap you forward into your enemy which you’re already meleeing, making it essentially pointless.

Eh not nesicaraly sword desperately needs a gap closer since the auto doesn’t stick to target and the base damage from monarchs leap isn’t terrible. Plus that’s another evade to dodge a burst (don’t get me wrong I like were this post is asking for I’m just thinking of a temporary fix)

tbh it sounds like some of you guys don’t play Druid or Ranger very much.

Sword issues where fixed, it no longer makes you “hop around”

according to the latest dps rankings zerker druid is at or near 25k dps, condi druid is far higher at 35k dps and is The highest condi dps in game.

In PvP the mender’s build is still strong, as is marauder’s if you’re not going to rely on healing. You’re not really a bunker but no class is anymore now that the bunker amulets have been pulled out of pvp.

Menders is strait bunker, unless you get seriously focused it’s hella easy to hold a point in a 2v1.
they should just pull all healing power out of PvP or just make it a minor with no defensive stats, but “that will nerf then only viable build on ranger” they will say but to that we have seeker, murader, diviner, and demolisher. Condi druid is far less weaker than power in a pvp scenario.

Also I feel like they’re probably referring to the other 2 skills on sword.

And I wouldn’t call the sword auto “fixed” as much just unlocked, as now ranger sword lacks a leap with sword, a smart player will cleanse immobile and strafe around.

Well that was cause FC and DHs pug guilds couldn’t humble themselves to play nice and neither had/have any good enough guilds to act like their something special.

Meh if the lower tiers stayed somewhat populated I wouldn’t have minded the old system but I love my fights and now this ensures I get them no matter when I log on.

I mean seriously me, rem, and the other fellas would try running into legendary guards and see how long we could last cause there was no fights like nobody. Has to wait for the next match up.

I dunno I only wvw for fights and roaming with snky. Roaming ain’t dead for me. I still solo cap towers and what not keeps emergency wp are too op however. Even at the higher salt filled tiers I fought some pretty good roamers. QQ for example (too bad they get all salty at you when you beat em)

Also yea I do see your point it kind of sucks to just be another cog in the machine in the bigger picture. And I think it’s harder for a linked server to find who’s actually on and build a community around it.

I’m having a good ole time running base ranger, I only take druid if I’m finding too many Condi mesmers about.

What’s your build maybe we can work on it. There’s deff plenty viable builds for power based druid/ranger atm. I will say Condi druid is the weakest when it comes to wvw and PvP.

Don’t get me wrong quite a few of stuff needs to be worked on but I think wonderwall really laid it out the best with his QOL lists.

Like said what are you running maybe I can give you a hand. I think I’m a decent ranger and I’m actually having a lot of fun lately especially with this last balance patch

He’s got some solid tips but you do have good access to swiftness now just spam quick shot it’s such a low CD that you can spam it for swiftness

You’ll be super glassy but you could try going seekers amulet for the feel

I know I loose a lot of cleanse but I’ve been taking MM over druid. having the unblockable burst is just so nice, plus you can realy wale on someone with remorseless and moment of op.

Would be cool to have a power stats with expertise power necros and ranger would have a field day.

3 – play bloodstone Fen and ember bay for currency to get easy to acquire ascended trinks they’re stat selectable trinks that include every stat in the game. You can get a ring amulet backspace and earring that way. I don’t pve much but the new maps are fun too so the grind isn’t that bad (to speed up the process finish the daily events and go to wvw or eotm and farm the reward tracks by following tag)

/Shrug I like the nerf but then again I don’t zerg. Druid is still great for smaller scale team fights, great cc and burst healing. I think it was a good nerf now if they just gave rangers some more unlockable stuff or cleanse with base ranger I’d be happy

For pve Condi is, the deeps ramps up. And zerker druid is just outshined by every other power class when it comes to pure deeps. It’s power scales poorly and after your burst your damage drops off quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong it’s still very viable and peeps still run it but apparently Condi druid takes the cake for pve

For PvP and wvw power druid is better you can focus on just bursting with your weapon skills and you can hit moving targets quite well
While Condi druid requires your enemy to stand still for a long period of time to get a good bomb on them

Never said anything about ranger not having enough cleanse. core ranger should have better actual cleanse, the healing was op, and I’m glad you have to take healing power to get good heals.

What needs to be said is for a net to rework sig of renewal and give base line stuff better access to cleanse

The “burst the pet”strat is exactly why I love using jaguars, a lot of people mistake the stealth with a swap lol, pair it with a bear or drake or some other fat tanky pet to soak hits and not worry about needing CDs and you’re guaranteed a short swap.

I’ve never gotten any of the cat/bird family pets to work in WvW after HoT. They couldn’t keep up with the power creep and a lot can happen during the 20s/16s pet swap cooldown.

Lol when I duel people they say oh it’s your pet, so I swap and try birds and such, it’s annoying that the pet the whole fight could not land even 1 attack and dies to the slighted bit of cleave/aoe.

Someone made a video awhile back and showed how a moaed pet is better than a regular pet

Lb with mm line lead the wind makes your arrows pierce (why dh gets this as baseline and we don’t aggravates the he’ll out me)and mual with gs, and your auto cleaves.1
Also with staff and lb (lead the wind traited) positioning is critical aim for the target behind what you hit

Hey donee I have a challenge for you! Make a good sb druid/ranger that’s decent all around fights (wvw roaming/pvp/1v1s). I’ve tried to make one but i can’t seem to make one that’s okay (has decent cleanse and mobility yet does enough pressure)

Lolz go take your tears somewhere else. First off druid is a great elite spec for us rangers, we needed something with utility and team fights. I would’ve preferred a deeps spec too but hey now we have something viable. That’d why peeps used to hate on us cause rangers are super selfish (everyone loves even teefs when they stealth/venom them)
Secondly against Condi mesmers you should be fine against all but the best. Hell if your struggling that much just run lb/staff and run ws signt of removal bm and druid with trooper runes, Condi bomb builds can’t hurt ya.

Also not every class should be the best against everything

There should be a rock paper scissor shoe effect. Like for teefs,eles, revs, rangers, necros I like using lb/gs for scrapers/warriors/mesmers/guards staff and sword and axe
For when there’s too many peeps out there and team fights I run staff/sword warhorn

You can build against condi mesmer if there’s a prevelance of them that day or your dueling one.

If you don’t take the right equipment to the right fight then your not playing ranger right. Instead of just QQing build around it, druid cleanse is fine the nerf/buff was actually really good

I really hope it does not get nerfed, in PvP you have to run glass (for the boon duration anyways) it’s strong but I wouldn’t say it’s as strong as menders or any other meta build in PvP. (What makes it so strong in wvw is you can build for survivability and still maintain the high quickness uptime)

Well thought out post. I think it would be pretty dope spec. Break bar on pet would deff have to be fine tuned too much and now it’s a love boss too little and you might as well not have it in the first place
