Conditions supposed to be damage over TIME

Anyways my issue with conditions being so strong is that they invalidate so many traits and builds. With power damage you can compensate by proper positioning, line of sight, well timed dodges, while conditions it’s always which skills well give me the most cleanse, and it’s created this weird meta were you really don’t care which condition you do you (save for burns) you care how many conditions you do, or you bring all the cleanse you can. (Most condis are aoe too so your going to get hit and once your hit your hit)

Yet another issue is if you get a ping spike, while your lagging the condis are still kittening you up horribly

Yet another issue is the condition meta makes conditions loose some if their uniqueness, remember when torment and confusion would only hurt you if you over or used a skill thus making you want to stay still that’s an example of actually interesting play.

Now it’s how many I can do at once, hell most fights now I’m looking at my buff bar more than the enemy player (when you have to stand on point and most condis are aoes with classes that can blink your going to get hit)

PS why did they have to change the zerker meta everyone loved it and condis were still there back in day people would actually run hybrids

Gotta say it’s pretty funny when someone’s being all reasonable and someone else is freaking like they kicked their dog or something. Longarm makes some solid points, would be cool if you see power soul beast, core cranger and healing druid all in one comp.

I’m confused, most of the top ranger players use bow, it has good utility and a decent burst, (although I like jcbroe’s suggestion on hunters shot giving super speed)

Pvt frosty and shadow pass (both are top tier rangers who frequent the forums) both use longbow, hell been using a varient of shadow passes core ranger in pvp plat and won the last 4 games with top damage (just means I’m consistently landing my hits) and 5 games in unranked.
Won quite a few of 2v1s, with maybe a 1 death per match

Now with soulbeast with the unblockable and few damage modifiers it will probably do alot of damage

To be fair thief and warrior are more about setting up big bursts, while ranger is more machine gunning. The classes also have lots of constant damage modifiers to run, while area currently are only for 1 shots. But with soulb I was getting like 4.5k autos with lb. So… There’s that.

It’s like a bad sb, honestly I hate the traits stances and weapon skills of soul beast; they all are boring and pretty cut and dry. However the soul beast’s interactions with core ranger and the pet skills is strait amazing.

Ya frosty, jcbroe this build is crazy strong, played 3 games in (scrub gold) and 3 v1d a Necro, rev and gaurdian, ended up tilting the team, since I got two hate wispers post match, during witch like, I had rotate since they wouldnt go to their home and would stop and turn around when seeing me.

The only issue I’ve found with this build is when you get chained cc and are plus 1 by a rev who knows what he’s doing (using LR and MT instead of stone and quick zeph) (update plat now on a 11 game win streak too)

If the implication is that LB still needs something, then I’m in total agreement.

5, I really don’t have good suggestions for. It’s just impractical in everything that isn’t a stationary PvE target.

For skill 5 I’d say reduce the cast time and have it pulse boon rip would make it very useful for pvp team fights and wvw zergs, and you won’t die to retal -_- plus ranger could use a little bit of boon rip.

I’d say superspeed for lb 3 would be fair

Ah, see, my best idea was to make Barrage 1 quick shot that would then leave a damage field behind that cripples and applies vulnerability, and condense the damage into ~5 pulses. A quick immobilize on the first hit wouldn’t be too shabby either.

1 soul beast in mechanics and pet combo is hella fun, while I only got to play it for a few, I really felt it was a mix of warrior, ele, gaurd vitures.
2 nd dagger is pretty week and the utilities and traits do feel pretty underwelming.

3 kirit is a very good ranger dueled him and have had him on my team in plat in pvp dudes mechanical skill makes me feel slow (granted I play with a controller but ole boy just knows how and when to counter and burst)

Skirmishing has many things : traps/bleed, precision, but it’s mostly focused on Weapon Swap, which gives Fury (and other things).

I went full blown Axe trait + SotW + Vicious Quarry to see how much ferocity I could get and why not use Rune of Rage… Went to 270% with a 100% Critical Chance. Of course, on glass ranger.

Very bursty indeed. Of course with some shaving, changes and working around, add Signet of the Hunt and see people get bursted.

Which may be possible now due to double invulns

Best skill in the game for 5 years, SoR, just got obliterated. I’ve lost any desire to play for a while.

What? Signet of Renewal just got a major buff. The passive condi clear never procced when you needed it, and the active just killed your pet.

People are being dramatic over the 1 condition clear on a 10 sec ICD…

This new SoR is way better : shorter cooldown and your pet won’t die from getting all the condis.

In PvP, it opens up the slot SotW took to generate Astral Force. Now you’ll only need SoR.

Plus combo that with heal as one and some resistance

The most serious nerf in this patch is that you can not get 3 might from “Zephyr’s Speed”.
For the ranger that is difficult to get Might, 3 might from “Zephyr ’s Speed” was valuable.
It was the main combo of shout ranger to amplify that might by the synergy of Fortifying Bond and “We Heal As One!” And to get 9 might.
In other words, this nerf means 270power has decreased from the shout ranger.
This nerf will have a major impact on PvP and WvW.

lol, what ? Did I miss a /s ? It’s even easier for Ranger to stack 25 might now. Major Impact for pitiful 9 might !?

Predator’s Instinct and Companion’s Might got buffed. I’ll take a traited WK Zephyr’s Speed over 3 might on swap any day.

Guys why the tears? Sig/ marksmanship rework is amazing, ws is fankittening tastic now (death to guardians) too, hell im dropping druid for that sweet sweet double stone. plus 2 extra ws skills for some more cleanse and the abiltity to group cleanse and not insta kill your pet,

skirmishing grand master might even see some play with remorseless and in any case is a dps boost for power ranger,

Everyone keeps comparing culture stance to thief… but do we know how vulture stance works with AoE yet?

Not yet. It might work like Thief venoms where it counts as the player dealing the condition damage or granting might (preferable), or it might not and use the allies’ stats instead (such as how Spirits work, which is not preferable).

If it works like the latter, it will be definitely hindered. Also not sure if it’s stackable with multiple Soulbeasts using it in proximity with each other with the shared stance trait. It’s worth bringing up since it’s a unique buff with an ICD interval.

That sounds dope, I’m really hyped for the stance sharing trait,

And Justine while I can understand the aggravation to sharp edges trait being nerfed (killed hybrid ranger a bit miss being able to burst people with warhorn 4 was a fun combo wombo)
It’s a trait as apposed to a utitly that kind of competed with sharpened edges the skill.

Sides ws with skirmishing and soul beast looks like it has a shot at being insanely good with condis at least the bleed,poision combo.

Group stability and deeps and if bear stance applies to allies well a kitten ton of condition removal and endurance rengeneration . And who’s to say it won’t bring more with minor and major traits, also massive rework coming next week, (they’re apparently even changeing sigs, giving core classes the new barrier mechanic (earth line in ele confirmed) and some people are getting a charges mechanic on certain skills (confirmed for base wars "kick" skill) so ya there is alot of that

All this salt and worry for something that’s not even out or explained in depth yet. Wall once again and fluff are some of the only ones making any kind of sense here.

Watch it’s going to be dope, I think anets been listening I mean hell 3 of the elite specs are from community ideas Weaver, dead eye, and soul beast. I came here to get hyped and see salt. And it looks like dps condi ranger and power ranger might have some real use in pvp now, and with the stances and probably pet buff we might see power used for dps now.

Like yo the minor pet traits might make this spec nuts, that’s what I can’t wait to see. For example what the 10 percent damage increase loud wistle and pet movement speed get applied to you when you merge? Or if nature’s bounty 1% damage increase gets applied to you when you merge for 2% for every boon witch protection, swiftness Regen and might all ranger kittens out witch would mean 8% increase of damage throughout the fight.

What if when you mual with gs, gain moc on pet merge and explode with that worldly impact aoe stomp with what I saw was 1900 damage (i dunno if peachy was power main) for some insane spike (lol burst stompet or stacked team)

I wonder what those few upper tier pvp rangers think I bet their wheels are turning, mine sure is

So heres a really cool thought, All the ranger pet buffs through traits, and pet synergy through our weapons, does this mean we get clarion bond? guys the COMBOS!!!

Like check this kitten out what if you ran marksmanship, mual with gs, swap pets and merge and burst for an unblock-able attack buffed with call of the wild and Moment of clarity, like holy kitten!,

Imagine casting Call of the wild with warhorn, and merging for some unblock-able craziness

How would heal as one work?,
what about the NM trait gain 1% damage for every boon on you, when you merge does that mean 2%? Does the damage reduction now stack? what about shouts?

What about the BM trait gain 10% and lower f2 cool down and speed for pet, does this now apply to you? Hell does that mean you gain might and bleeding on every hit?

If its a form whenever you merge you should get all pet/weapon swapping triggers

It’s hard to say if it’ll be any further behind than it was when Berserker was at its peak.

I’m also curious to see if there will be a limit (of one) elite spec per build. If so, and I think there’s a reason to think so, then I don’t think vanilla will be that much further behind than it was with HoT.

Idk bout mentor or nothing as I consider myself okay, but love and always down for duels and (hover between tier 1 and 2 plat) and I don’t mind trading tips and what not. However I’ve got my share butt woopeling by some better rangers,

I suggest takeing a look at kiritsugu emeya on YouTube dudes nasty dueler (one of the better rangers) and has some good combos, and Roms twitch stream for a more pvp oriented version

Search and rescue sucks now, love the rework it was way to strong initially but the range on/CD on it makes it pretty lame now as it barely gets your downed out of aoe,

They should buff it to 50 secs CD and 800 range, as is your better off taking a sig to cleanse/negate damage when you rez

So if your thinking your going to get constant numbers out of gs, don’t.
Just understand it’s designed for defense, utitlity and bursting, so situations that favor it will see it used a lot more (it’s great for PvP/wvw particularly against thiefs, warriors (dangerous positioning required against warriors but can burst them to get past those pesky endure pains if landed right), eles, revs, and other rangers)

The pips for ranks is a good thing, eventually everyone who loves and plays the game mode gets rewarded more. The people upset whining about it is like me complaining that the senior guy at my job makes more money than me. progression based rewards are a good thing, its literally how the rest of life retains their senior members.

Of course! this effect gets worse with players for 2 things, Players are meta bound either they go whats perceived meta (for example condi ranger did hella deeps for a while now yet took some time to actually be brought into raids as people didn’t know about its high dps potential and wouldn’t experiment until QT and other high end raid guilds posted videos of it)

Players also think that their game mode is end all be all, I really wish more players would pvx more

Take for example what wonder wall said about druid forms CD and healing nerf thus making heal druid meh might as well take an ele instead.

Also rangers are taken not for solely heals in raids and dungeons, and fracs, its that they can do good burst healing and unique buffs, grace of the land, glyph of empowerment, and frost spirit

Between the class balance and sigil choices I’m loving it, especially the boon strip sigils witch could see a lot of use in wvw,

Also I really hope they add those in the next LS3 update, also I really like the stat combos pvp offers, my class (druid) even took a hit last patch yet I’m still having mad fun, just man id really love that boon strip for wvw.

Ranger actually has a bit of build diversity as all weapons have a place, really up to you what you want to use the only thing I can see being completely ass is double axe or lb and short bow combo ,Theres still useless traits but ALL of the trait lines see lots of use however due to the strength of druids forms cleanse and stealth and more skills to use all the meta PvP/wvw builds incorporate druid trait line top top bottom.

Oh hot pets are still king since then other ones suck they have been buffed so they hit a little better but still sub par, and there’s still plenty wonky traits and not not much flexibility within trait lines

(For example you will always take either shouts or survival skills and one sig for PvP. Glyphs still are meh, with druids elite only being good in druid form in raids)

Healing and Condi druid (can even go base ranger) are meta for higher end pve content,

Power, boon and heal builds are meta for PvP with healing a slight edge due to incorporating the druid trait line, Condi sb may see some use due to buffs,

Ranger even with druid is still sub par in wvw zergs there’s builds you can play but it could be better filled by an ele.

Ranger is still good great for roaming 1v1s and small fights due to ape stealth and lock downs, and good sustain

Because rangers core design is to be strong vs single targets while losing out on some defensive mechanisms other classes have.

I really don’t think it was designed with that in mind, since ranger only has an okay burst for power damage, (has some of the most pathetic coefficents with power) I think when they designed it they were like well let’s add a little bit of everything and it ended up sucking ass at anything that needed a specialized role (hence hated on in pre hot content and always looked over for organized wvw) granted this jack of all trades lends itslef to 1v1s well since you usually have some tools to fight with, and that’s why Cele lends itself to ranger so well. However hybrid barely works cept for niche stuff, it just bugs me when with other classes do to fun trait synergy you can use a weapon for either condi or power and go ham crazy

Op what? Amost all pve situations it’s a static target, so allowing spirits to move wouldn’t change a kitten thing, they rarely get killed in pve anyways due to the npc/pet aoe rework last year.

If spirits could move well they might actually see use again in pvp, and hell zergs/guild groups might love us again.

The rooted spirits and non throwable traps killed any chance those builds have at pvp/wvw especially since they contain no stun breaks, and kittenty heals. Lol I’m getting mad all over gain thinking about how fun those builds were to play back in the day. Now they see zero use for spirits and you might take one trap for wvw or pvp even then it’s like do I really want this.

Truth, on all, well sight of stone is simply mandatory because what class dosnt take an invuln if they have them. I personally believe all invulns should be reduced or removed, thus making proper dodges more viable

As for Cele form I totally get why they nerfed the CD but now I think they should revert it and Nerf Cele shadow, will it make it feel a bit clunky yes but druid heals are supposed par when compared to an eles sustain.
