Dude gs is just so much more than just running away. In fact it’s a great warrior and teef killer. The auto is amazing try the double evade trick to the point were you can use it in fights, it will change your life.

other than the bugged hilt bash, gs is a well designed weapon in its current form (it’s been buffed by 60% since the games launch)

If they were to buff I would just want a small attack speed increase

They need to blow up the servers and introduce a server loyalty program. Like the longer you stay with said name server the better it gets (have a bad case skin at the end like idk guild cap?!) however when you transfer it goes on cd and resets. If they approached servers as giant teams and did things to really make you feel a part of that team players will hype themselves up. Part of the reason wvw feels so bleh now is most players don’t feel like they’re having an impact and aren’t contributing to the fight you just feel like a cog in the machine which is kind of the opposite of why people play video games

I undertsand why, GS is a mainly a defesnive wepaon with good burst damage, cides that evade frame is pretty long and can be proced twice, either way GS on ranger is not ment to be good for sustained damage sword is supposed to take that niche

so I’ve been running remorless build like maize too cept i opted for sig of wild instead of lightning reflexes and using vamprism runes which when you heal near an enemy, that ag bar refills very very quickly

Ghost reefs, bunker druids,Condi warriors, burn guards and Condi mesmers are just not fun to fight period that’s my issue with the meta. They all have way too much quality of life and all end up you looseing to cool downs.

Ghost teef not a problem in a 1v1 however there’s alot of em and they’re quite annoying when your fighting someone else or there’s 2 of them and you just like we’ll their goes all my cleanses. (In a 1vx the people you don’t want to set off your reveals and for ranger you have to target the teef first)

Bunker druids and eles if your not Condi your not killing them, they will out sustain you until help comes or you run out of skills.
mainly the stupid kitten stats in wvw at work, I really enjoy PvP right now more since there’s actually downsides to taking certain stats

Condi war and burn guard you get punished for cc ing or hitting them (warrior heals guard burns) and both will end you quickly before you can end them and it’s always about not having enough cleanses

The biggest problems with these classes are you aren’t looking to player skill rather just losing to numbers. In PvP it’s one thing but wvw man you can build into your stats so much it creates some broke kitten kitten.

The reason condis are constantly berated by the older players is because fighting against numbers not other players is not fun. When I’m forced to look at my Condi bar which is also weak and poorly done (I can’t cleanse the important stuff)
Than other player that’s not fun at all.

Think about it power you have to weave in and out and make your bursts count. (Now there’s too much aoe) that made it fun made guild wars feel closer to a fighting game then an mmo

I just wish torment confusion and burning went back to there pre hot strength

This build hits like a champ and you can get up there and brawl. Only thing thing to be careful of is trying to duel heavy Condi classes a good Condi mes, Condi mace shield warrior, and burn guard can put you on your kitten if you mess up your clears once.

Sometimes I just drop druid for nm and then go top top middle for even more burst and to get people too stop being oh druid too op… ( base ranger is still great against power builds but super kittenty against condi builds)

But your burst is insane burst swoop in and wack em on the head!

I think this is a good player who’s is pushing the meta good kitten once again dude, encouraged me to brush off my remorseless build, granted i take trooper instead (seems to help me catch that pesky last Condi)

Sure but which one (my solo wvw (condi or power) build or havoc, Pvp i switch it up depending on enemy comp) ? I run all the builds depending on what I want to do. I try not to fall in love with just one build ranger is super flexible and your nerfing yourself if you don’t bring whats best to the fight. the only trait line I don’t run in pvp is skirmishing because condi ranger is eh in pvp, if a condi ranger and power ranger got into a fight power should win (in the current meta) nine out of ten. (I’d be willing to duel to prove my point to any challengers :p) sorry to be so vague but I’m a bit of a ranger die hard and will literally talk my guildies ears off when it comes to build crafting

First op sorry to say this but you might’ve been in bronze because of this build. I totally get playing stuff that’d fun for you (this is a videogame after all some peeps forget that) even so this build is kinda terrible man.
First off you have no stun breaks,

second celestial form when your not spec for healing is still fantastic for a full cleanse of which you have almost none. Just pop in and out, however a good rotation for celestial form is 2,3, 4 pop ur mushroom (member it cleanses too might take of a pesky poison that got applied after the fact) blast it for retal, it’s also an aoe daze so it’s great for taking pressure of of you or interrupting rez stomps, followed by 4 even with the healing nerf it still works. Also celestial forms skill 5 can be a game changer if used correctly the damage is eh but it’s pluses cripple, slow, and finally imbolbs, fantastic for helping lock people down in aoes, I love using it when I see a necro bomb enemy downs, played right and you can help reset a team.

Personally I would drop the poison trap for flame trap if your dead set on trap runes, first getting the burns out there and is were you can get some real damage, it’s a short CD (12secs) which also means you can stealth more.

Also I’d take shared anguish instead of the poison when your healths up cause you need stunbreaks.

I’d also take troll urgent over healing trap and ws reduction trait line for more cleanses lower cds and also is an awesome way to regen celestial form, the downside is you have to pop it as soon as you feel your going to get pressured.

If your dead set on trapper ranger your going to need to hug a good support or 1v1 oner, because of ancient seeds druid have amazing synergy with warriors. Stun lock fools for days.

And to anyone this thread you take druid form for the amazing major traits, I love playing base ranger and do quite often for duels and solo roaming, but the major traits in druid form are just so essential to contributing to your team in PvP and anything bigger than a 2v2 in wvw.

First off druidac clearity is a FULL cleanse every 15 secs if you regeneration celestial form right in the Condi meta not only do you have to cleanse from 1 person but from multiple people and cleanse a lot at once.

Second off celestial shadow omg it’s a short instant shadow refuge on demand that gives super speed to allies too!! If I got a dollar for every time a teammate said ty so much for the stealth rez or getting them out of kittening dodge, I’d buy a net and have them switch honed axes with empathic bond (and make it give Condi damage instead of ferocity)

Thirdly the ancient seeds! As a ranger period, being able to effectively cc and lock down your target is life, not only is it good against certain classes in 1v1s, it has sooooo much synergy with teammates as they cc and you just love tap your enemy’s for lockdown.

Also the skills in celestial form are actually really really useful even if your not a healer, aoe daze? Check moving water field that teammates can blast or you can if your running clarion bond and swap pets check, pulsing ape cripple slow and an ape imolb that can give you stab is you weapon stow. Check

Looks dope as kitten check kittening mate. (Minds me of the night crawler deer god from princess monoke)

Concentration is super nice personally I don’t like the lb staff combo, you’ll run into to many fights were you won’t be able to kill anything unless your plus 1 ing lots of projectile hate and if kill someone with staff they were probably going to die anyways since the damage on the thing sucks. I personally do either staff with sword warhorn or axe (offhand axe is pretty great for taking out guards and eles good burst damage with retal. Or long bow with gs (a well placed gs can ruin a teefs day and give you something nice to burst down all but the tankiest of warriors.)

You raise some good points, however I think any ranger who didn’t use all the weapons for enemy comps is pretty dumb. I mean ranger has 6 weapons that all are great for power based builds. Sword axe warhorn are fantastic for guard, ele heavy comps, gs is great against teefs and warriors.

Also isn’t meta battle just a snap shot, here people like running this, it works for them maybe it will work for you too. What’s your point of this post?

They’re on AR i think. I also used to be in a guild [lion] that quite a few members of Trex were in. Top notch players and it was always a pleasure to roam with them. Another guild up there on the level of Trex is BOZ who are currently on YB. They’re extremely well organized and i frequently see them wipe much larger numbers than they have. SNKY is pretty good as well, they were on FC i think. You’d be surprised how many really skilled guilds there are on smaller servers.

Agreed, some pretty skilled small crews in T3 right now. I’m just hoping it doesn’t attract the lame “T1 roaming” crowd, who consists of 8-30 man groups lol

The strongest I saw of you guys was QQ and weren’t they just linked? BG’s roamers are usually just big havoc groups lol had to roll deep to get anything done there, but we did get better fights from bg then mag. and on off hours I found some pretty good duelers.

Is the Mender’s Staff/Sword & Dagger still the defacto spec to run or are there more options now?

Staff/LB is meta. ROM uses it, and he’s top 5 on the EU charts. Metabattle has both versions up.

There is a lot of variety in amulets too, paladins, mauraders, and berserker are all totally viable. You can probably do very well with sage and SB but I don’t know of anyone specifically running that at a high level.

He dies a lot thou, can not duel or keep point against almost anything, not even 1v1. For the stream it feels he is being carried by the others. Not saying than he is bad, on the contrary this class is in so bad state that not even a champion as R.O.M. can deal with it.
Quickcry is also a amazing druid player, neither he can deal with this crap anymore.

Druids fine dude, and staff/lb is pretty wack, its only good for stick and moving, id rather have melee as my offhand.

I dont understand this thread you can litarlly use any weapon or trait line and have a viable build. You got the shout trooper, which you Menders,seekers, muarder, diviner all work great with, power survival is great.
Condi bleed ranger is fun, can make some use out of it in wvw and pvp deff not meta but if your really good you can make it work.
I have 2 rangers and theres not one neglated traitline I use, yea theres dumb traits but Id say ranger is on of the most versatile classes right now. all ranger weapons have a purpose and niche.

You only need like 40% boon duration I’ve found that any more is just rediculous. I average about 15 stacks or more might and perma protection through out a fight. Take some commanders trinks and weapons, it’s niace.

And yeah I can’t seem to get am away from trooper runes either, why is empathetic bond in ws it. Even just thematically it belongs in the bm line.

The only other route would be to go leadership/durability with ws.

Allow ranger axe whirling defense to cast it while moving with the healing nerf and no way to stick to your target with sword this is a reasonable change

I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a lot of upset WvW players when the PvP patch (tomorrow -13/12/2016) doesn’t balance things for them (because of skill separation).

Having said this, it might make the game more …interesting… for players who bring their established PvP builds to WvW and discover that they aren’t as effective in this mode. Hopefully it will mean they aren’t the roaming monsters we currently endure.

Getting a power melee weapon that isn’t a clusterkitten of mixed use mechanics would be a nice addition.

I love the idea of bunny thumper and personally prefer power based builds. however that “leak” ended up predicting eureka and a dagger ranger kinda makes sense with a desert theme, and a melee condi weapon would deff fill a empty space with ranger

Both have a single evade, though the one coming from D is longer, and it can also cripple from 1200 units away. Thanks to the Axe, I’d get also an access to Chill and Weakness, which are not present on SB. On the other hand the SB allows one to daze (or stun), and is a source of Speed paired with Immobilizing the chased enemies. I’m unsure what’s better in WvW environment these days, after SB got buffed with bleeds on all Auto Attacks etc.

projectiles are ify nowadays with all the blocks, eflects ect. but I think sb would be better over axe, you can also give yourself perma swiftenss and quite some mobilty by using the about face hot key and spaming the jump evades shot

depends tier 1 theres some, but most think roaming is groups of 10 or more there. There still plenty oldschool roamers but its not as respected as it once was (no body goes to os for duels anymore after reset, zergs will go out of their way to run you over and it seems like people try to delberlty mess up your duels now adays.

however its not all doom and gloom late night by south camp any tier there’s usually duelers, Ive still found plenty small fights and peeps willing to duel.

daggers nice but if you can trap some one in yitour fire feid and keep em pined with you sb boom its over.

I think it would work wonders if they just communicated their vision better. It’s hard not to get salty when you see awesome trailers and lots of back and forth between the devs and the community on Reddit and etc. for other game modes. (Between the devs just owning up and saying legendary wasn’t a true indicator and hensleths Reddit post on grouch leaving and saying get hyped bois actually hyped me up for tomorrow)
Also features like the ascended vendor, wvw has been begging for that sense it’s inception and PvP didn’t even need not ask for it and boom. Ofc peeps are going to be upset.
As for the balance lot of times if something is strong in PvP it will be even stronger in wvw due to the stat min maxing.
And wvwers would love a balance patch that said the wvw team is working with the skills team to help bring in line the epidemic ( blah inset problem with wvw here.)

The only hint of wvw in the trailers is the triumphant armour that we still don’t got.

On a side note the (politicalness aside) there’s a reason why make America great again, wether for better or for worse caught on because it gives the appearance of clarity and vision both of which would do amazing things for the community. Like tell me you would wouldn’t get hyped if a dev or MO was like yo we are making wvw great again, mic drop.

Tl;Dr wvw needs a vision to get hyped around that’s why everyone’s so salty when it seems like other Modes are getting lots of love

So general pve content is pretty easy ment to be enjoyed and explored. Really really casual

But when decide to really look f or challenges they’re there be it wvw, top tier fractals, raids, or PvP healing power is very very essential in very important niche rolls.

I’m mainly a roamer/ in wvwer who casualy pvps when wvw is slow or to zergy. But I’ve dabbled with raids and fractals, map completion since I grew up on gw1 I’m embarrassingly a bit of a lore geek.
What I’m trying to say I try to play evrything, anyways that’s a solid pve build and is pretty much welcome every where in pve due to its okay damage and fantastic offensive buffing.

But eggs got a point marader is a good around set for just doing okay in evrything, it’s alright in in all 3 game modes,as you have okay survivability and okay damage.

The assassins is for reaching that 100 % crit chance so you can squeeze everything out of your deeps

Since the news of the upcoming rev nerfs ive been trying to run dps ranger builds as well lately. Issue is against some comps it just feels like its almost impossible to land damage reliably. And I find myself in long drawn out duels which LUCKILY shout ranger is well suited for. But it defeats the purpose of the build as far as team fights go.

How have you faired against comps that counter the build you run? Do you still feel overall effective? (I.E. You feel that even in another setup you would have about the same effectiveness)

Playing DPS ranger atleast for me feels pretty RNG heavy. With the builds effectiveness depending less on the SKILL of your opponents than what build they happen to be running.

But then its been a long time since I ran a glass build. paladins druid being my norm. Which could color my perspective a bit.

Like i said ruunning long bow you WILL have trouble with reflects, the key there is to swap your pet and go melee.
Against an organized team this build is eh, however in pug patches or douing ive found it to be a fantasic +1
the key being picking your targets,
Im not going to sit there try to brawl with and condi mes or tank ele but just about every other class I’m not having any problems with.
(guards are actually are pretty easy to kill once you get past the medi invuln as your pet will burst through there blocks)s

Anyways to answer your question yea I tend to have trouble with comps that counter, however I try to find the weak gap in the team which being any other class or just move to and with a team mate.

alternate comps I suppose running sword/warhorn may work better in stead of gs, right now. maybe you could work druid in there but ive found a definite gain in dps when running mm over druid
I’m also experimenting with runes of rev, 3 1/3 secs of Resistance every 20 secs aint bad
and using sigil of generosity and purity on my weapons to make up for loss of cleanse

however if you do top tier fracs or raids with pugs id have at least a full exotic magis gear for back up, those kind of things its better just to heal and buff the group, since they will mostly like make more mistakes than an organized comp
