Actually a friend of mine has said that ANet is just KTLO – keeping the light on.
since guild wars has saturated it’s potential market with over 3 million players – they create a minimal amount of content to keep the players coming back and purchasing gems with real money – notice how gems becomes constantly pricier then gold.

At the end all that will remain from guild wars is a dress up contest, who has the best looking out fit and weapons.

Just look and the guildwars facebook page – 80% of the posts are:
“rate my character looks”

  • Influencing the world – This is where the difference between the games are. One is a sandbox (or a sandpark, depending on who you talk to) and the other is a themepark. Now, I fully support more sand in the game. However, to the extent you’re looking for I doubt it, as it would most likely require a great deal of work on the engine to support the function. Instead, this should be done through DE’s.

Can never go wrong with a bit of sandpark.

So basically releasing more content, and as such taking longer between updates which basically gives the same result, other than if they spread it out you have new stuff for 3-5 hours every two weeks instead of new stuff for 10 hours every second month?

Or they could reduce the quality, with less QA-time and polish-time, they’d be able to turn out more content. Of course I do imagine most people wouldn’t however prefer low quality content.

1. I agree with what you are saying – stopping the living world and focusing on an expansion pack should solve this, even if i’d have to pay for it.

Well that’s always been the suspicions among players. However the only difference I can see it in the time content gets delivered (all at once) and the amount of content (all at once). Although S1 didn’t live up to the expansion-worth of content there’s no reason ANet couldn’t deliver an expansions worth of content over the period it would take to produce an boxed expansion. Although I do have to acknowledge that we don’t really life in a world of delayed gratification, so I can understand most peoples desire to get a lot of content at once so they can grind through it.

There’s no real need to defend why you referred to anther game, in general video games have a horrible taxonomy and vocabulary. In most cases game play mechanics and features in one game are referenced/discussed in how they relate to another more well known game because we simply don’t have an effective alternate means of doing so. However your original post did lack any real discussion of these mechanics or features (basically you said, hey look at Archeage it age a lot of the features I would like to see), so it’s also understandable as to how others would perceive you as not referring to any particular mechanic of feature within Archeage but to the whole game itself.

Trion is an amazing company. I’m no fan boy, but the amount of work they put into Rift was astonishing,

I did hear (not experience) that Trion was very good at delivering rapid large content patches. Just too bad it was a raid-end-game MMO, it feels slightly wasteful to spend so much time on content that will be outdated come next patch.

Back on-topic, GW2 development feels painfully slow.

True enough. It hardly feel like they’re a 300 man strong company (even considering not all 300 are developers or men). Although I think a lot of the work that does go into GW2 is behind the scenes (coding and optimizations etc) that we don’t experience because they’re not directly related to mechanics of features. However I’m hoping that with S2 (haven’t learned many lessons from S1) that they’ve managed to setup a decent content pipeline and that they’ll be able to start turning out more substantial content. Else I guess at worse I’ll just relog when new content becomes available (i.e. thanks Buy 2 Play model).

The big difference between a normal MMO expansion and the LS is that a normal MMO expansion continues to exist in the world. It becomes part of the overall MMO world where the LS content mostly is just gone as the story progresses. Don’t get me wrong – I am not one of the people who go through content so fast that I’m waiting around between LS updates. But I recognize that there are people like that.

From my perspective Living World S1 was about expanding the world Vertically (that is building onto what was already there, i.e. revamp of Kessex’s Hill, LA adding a JP here revamping a dungeon path here etc.), but S2 seems to be following the Horizontal scaling, not expanding on what already is but adding new things to the game (more in line with the classic expansion model). Although we’ve only had 1 patch so far of S2 but it kinda seems we’ll be getting more classic expansion content this time around (but this will also mean that the current content will go stale since they won’t be touched for some time).

The only thing that will make you enjoy it again is a long break. Good thing about GW2 is that it isn’t going anywhere, you can jump on and off at any time without missing out on anything, especially with the new PS format they introduced.

what i want as said several times new features (which is mentioned in the original post) – even if not them, something else that will make me and my friends enjoy guild wars again, instead of the current state where I feel like I only come to grind so maybe one day I will use the resources for legendery or what so ever…

But you are trying to convert. Why are you so sure that people will stay if those things were added? Mounts are questionable, open world PvP will make legions of people leave. It won’t work.

To me it looks like a typical “Look at all this groundbreaking features X has that this doesn’t!” hype thread.

Just post : i would like feature X .. and you can maybe take another game as a hint how you would like it to be. I for example always say i want housing like in EQ2 .. but i never say : give me that or i leave for EQ2.

I understand what you are saying. I didn’t say I was going to leave, but it is ok (IMO) to point out the competition and therefore learn what to improve. maybe this way – the developers will stop for a sec, lift their heads from their keyboard and see what’s else there is to do in the game – and if it requires a more “provocative” post to get that end goal – which is to play more guild wars – it’s worth it.

Ok you are aware of priorities. Go up to your boss and say ‘this company is off course’. Small company maybe sit down over a beer and discuss what you mean. Larger company get a memo that this is our focus please keep up the good work. Very large company the exit sign lights up. Any way you look at it unless you give really concrete examples of where it goes wrong and how you are right you will be tilting windmills.

I gave examples, a lot of other threads gave the same examples (and others).
You already understood that my goal is to add more to the game.
You can support/argue/ignore – I would prefer your support.

Even Peter Molyneux learnt that lesson.

I don’t think that’s the lesson he should have learned. He should have learned to never over-hype one of his game to the point of talking about something that’s simply impossible to be done.
It’s as if Anet one day said “In our new game, Sylvari characters can plant seed and grow enormous forests, changing the landscape and the weather around the world !”

Anyway, it’s nothing new with Anet. They aim high and manage to do only so much.
I was surprised the wardrobe and account bound dyes end up happening. I’m not surprised new legendaries are taking forever to add in the game because hopefully they want to do it right unlike the ones we have, where the only thing legendary about them is :
-your credit card
-your luck
-your grinding tolerance

actually adding a new legendary is pretty easy task, it requires a very short modeling time, it’s not like creating a new boss or map. and stats are always the same just distributed differently.

You can check my previous suggestions – I suggest things all the time. the reason i chose to mention another game is the fact the a lot of different people came to me from various places and said that they are considering leaving for this game.
I would gladly pay ANet another 50euro or whatever the game costs me at the time that i bought it for them to just add things that are obviously requested by a large audience from day 1.

I fully agree that Guildwars has done an amazing job in making you pay only once and enjoying the content without having to “force” you to buy things to progress – This really goes a long distance (for me), I personally convinced several people to join gw on that argument alone (besides of course it being a great game).

unlike the first guildwars this one aspires to be open world – look at the fact that you can see all the people in all the maps, not just cities like the first guild wars. world events, world bosses…. there’s more to MMO’s then PVP.
I didn’t even mentioned in my original post the ability to kill other players in the maps.
building a house for my guild? yes. using mounts to travel the beautiful world of guildwars instead of teleporting? yes.
Influence the world like – planting trees that the entire server could enjoy? yes.
Non of these are about killing each other.

As it happens – I have a full time job, a wife, a child and I study at the university…
I don’t see how adding more cool features will prevent me from enjoying the game in my very little free time (which is around 2-3 hours a day). after 2 years I’ve clocked ~1500 hours of game play. so you can define me as a “casual” gamer.

just because another game failed, doesn’t mean guild wars will fail. just like they “used” the fact that diablo 3 (although not an MMO) had to be completed 4 times to experience the full game – the clearly said in their promotional videos: "you don’t have to complete the game several times.
Same goes for WOW (and other MMOs) – when they said it’s won’t be a grind fest and not just clicking on textboxes instead of actually doing them.
I don’t see how adding a place for your guild to hang and party will “fail the game”.
nor adding mounts to roam PVE or adding mounts to WvW to add more strategy.
They would make you transform into a scorpion in edge of the mists – but god forbid you would be able to ride it…

Before Archage it was ESO. Then it was Wildstar. My guild is pretty much all still here and a few people waiting for those games have come back, disappointed. Not everyone is obviously, but it’s becoming clearer and clearer that, warts and all, Anet knew what they were doing when they made these games.

Do you really think people used to no kill stealing, no node stealing and rezzing anyone at any time are going to go and enjoy a more hard core experience.

Do you realize when Archeage released in Korea is did so badly they had to push out the 1.2 patch and they delayed the release in the US so we could get the 1.2 patch too, because the 1.0 patch was only barely playable?

You’re actually recommending a game that was pushed back because it didn’t work at launch in another area. What makes you think it’s going to be that much better when it launches.

The ideas behind Archeage were great before Trion bought them. I wouldn’t trust Trion with anything. I feel like they squandered the potential that was Rift and they’ll do the same with Archeage.

So, lately me and a lot of people I know in guild wars have been feeling… bored. for a long time actually.
it feels like the living story doesn’t really generate enough of content to keep you interested.
There has been a few things that have been long overdue in guild wars like building a house for your guild to live in and decorate, have mounts (yes, I’ve said the forbidden word) and have the actual ability to influence the world we are living in beyond character skins and manipulating TP.

Archeage – seems to have a these features and a lot more, and what saddens me is that a lot of people I know are planning to leave guild wars to pursue a new adventure.

No, I’m not trolling or trying to convert people to Archeage, I’m hopeful that Anet will understand that after more then 2 years, this game needs to gain new features that will allow you do more in the game.

ANet official response will be appreciated.

A lot of the time i find my self wanting to join my friends and I’m unable to since the map is full.
then I go into join spamming mode, just stand in the place and try to join my friends whether it’s pavilion/tequatle/tripple wurm etc…

adding queue will be alot more efficient both for players and for you performance.

So after traits have become changeable through anypoint in the entire game now it’s time to make it easier to change them.
I suggest to add the ability to save the sets of traits in a list that way players will be able to swap their pvp/pve/wvw builds in a click of a button (instead of reselecting all the traits manually).

It had strong dps, not squishy at all, very good interupts and self healing. even semi-burst.

So after a long time of hard work, research, practice and dedication I’ve managed to create a nearly perfect spirit weapons build for a guardian for pvp. I used to take out most of professions (exclulding mesmers) at any pvp levels and only some condition builds have taken me down .

After the patch it feels like I can’t win against anyone, not even elementalists.
So before anyone jumps and says change your build to meditation build or something else, I would like to keep the spirit weapons build.

It’s a shame that the signature of guardian has been ruined to the ground
ANet if you can – please look if you can bring this build back to life.

Another Issue I Faced Yesterday – Went In with a group – we got divided into 2 overflows.
My overflow needed another few minutes to complete the hologram and go into scarlet, but my friends already completed the holograms and went into scarlet – than i had to choose:
1. stay and get reward for hologram and face scarlet alone
2. join my friends and skip the hologram reward

Lately I’ve been trying to understand why I feel like I am missing a big part of this game – The Dynamic Events. It was a lot of fun to do them when I levelled my main, probably didn’t do all of them and never will since they’re so unrewarding.

Right now if you look at PVE players. what can they do at level 80?
1. Boss train
2. Dungeon train
3. JPs
4. Mining Run
5. Daily/Monthly
6. Craft/TP

That gets pretty repetitive and that’s a shame since you(ANet) has worked so kitten content that players aren’t playing.(at least not regularly).
And why is that? simple – because it’s unrewarding in terms of gold/items.

Since this game is driven by economy player have to choose between having diverse interesting fun to looping through the same bosses over and over.

The Suggestion: The reward system for dynamic event should scale with levels and encourage players to explore more of the beautiful world you(ANet) has built.

An Official response will be appreciated.

Ok so my suggestion is that when u craft a specific item and see it’s ingridients, you should be able to right click and select “Craft this item” which will switch the view to crafting that selected item.
It’s pretty annoying to have to look every time for the item manually.

  • Mesmerers don’t fall down, it’s the world that they pull up
  • Guardians never gets downed, they’re just resting between fights.
  • Necromancer minion master – who the hell am I suppose to kill first?
  • Thieves – they came, they stabbed, they went
  • WvW – it’s not for everyone, but you need everyone

the FPS has improved, also I have to note the rendering somehow seems better.
1 thing – when i select in gfx highest settings – it doesnt select the ultra options as well, not sure if its a new bug due to the patch or not.

so there is now waypoint in story mode which makes fractal not hard because of it’s level but because of people quiting.

I only encountered 2 missions that i needed a group to complete.
1 of them around level 40 i could’ve completed alone if i’d level up some more.
the other one is the final mission.

although i get your point – but after all this is MMO.
if your not in a guild than just shout in /m and you’ll see people will be happy to assist you.

I’m trying to get the achivement “Hunt The Dragon” in BlazeRidged Steps,
go 90% and went through all the 10 checkpoints twice :/

tried it after the recent patch, so theres a possibility it’s a new issue.

Events get stuck on Active

Hi, I’m calling the events API (“https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/events.json?…”)
and pretty often events that has been completed are not reset to “warmup”,“fail”,“success” or anything else, they remain active.
from my experience it happens specifically with bosses.

at first i though this was a caching issue but even when i deleted the browser cache and added a random parameter the statuses remain active.

Hi,
I currently have 165/167 discovered areas in Magumma.
i’ve clocked over 650h can’t find the missing parts i didn’t discover. looked throught the maps several times and nothing :/
does anyone has a pointer to specific places that i might have missed (like caves or smth like that).

P.S: i’ve completed all JPs, completed all story modes of dugenons (not all paths) and have 100% world completion.

Any help would be appreciated!
