Everyone is DPS. There are no other roles in this game.
Or you can be a “staff guardian” and act like the in game equivalent of a flowerpot, useless, just standing in the corner of a room.
I might actually post “No-Guardians” on my lfg.. at this point I’d rather have condition necromancers..
You really don’t know what a guardian can do then. It is unfortunate for you that you’ve been paired with guardians that want to see big numbers rather excel at what they do best.
When i play guardian things I can personally guarantee;
No one will ever get one shotted by crusher
No one will ever fall during uncategorized fractal
No one will ever get poison blossomed to death/knocked down/dumped on in twilight.
No grawl will get through on fire shaman
no one will ever have more than 2 conditions for 10 seconds
stacking will work 90% of the time
everyone will have 12 stack of might/10 vulnerability when you need dps
bosses will be blind on their major attackThese are just what comes to mind. A good guardian won’t do much damage, but that is not their purpose. A good guardian can pretty much ensure no one ever dies unnecessarily. To list lfg-no guardians- is the most asinine thing to say. No other profession can bring this much to the table in one build with adjusting traits according to the environment.
I’m pretty sure he’s well aware of the benefits of a good guardian. But finding a good guardian via the LFG? Not going to happen.
1. Make own party, open dungeon instance
2. Advertise your party as “all levels/gear types welcome”
3. ???
4. Profit!!
No one is obligated to play with you, stop getting so salty.
This one time I ran Arah p4 with a guild group.
…I would have been better off pugging,
Does that count?
lol, it’s the same thing with my guild. The other day, they were putting together a group for P2, and I thought kitten it, much faster than soloing and these guys couldn’t be worse than pugs. They couldn’t make most of the skips so I ended up soloing most of the path anyway, along with alphard and lupi.

I made the mistake of trying to do the spider run on my thief today after someone already activated the turret. The radius of the turret extends too far for me to shadowstep past it without it killing me instantly. :/
Alphard is still really easy though, it just requires a lot more reflects if you have a party that can’t dodge the pull well enough.
Did they close the hole that was in the left wall?
No, it’s still there.
I don’t suggest Scholar runes at all, because as the glassiest of the glass cannon out there, you will rarely keep your health above 90%.
I think it really depend on your trait setup. i use rune of ranger because i am lacking crit chances due to my setup.
You only need to keep it for about 25% of the time to get a better boost than ruby orbs. Besides, they promote better play (damage avoidance and keeping your health up). But Ranger runes are good too, the 6th bonus is bugged so you always get the 5% boost.
It’s actually much easier to do solo than with a group. The pull is pretty well telegraphed, and without all the particle effects from your teammates blocking the way you can see it coming every single time.
Im baffled everytime i read this subforum. Ele is probably the most well designed class in the game. Its strong in all gametypes. Fun to play. Versatile. Has one of the best class mechanics and some of the best traits in the game.
I understand most of the “ele is bad” talk is from pvp and im no pvp expert but eles were dominant a while back and they recieved a few nerfs and now it seems everyone thinks they are trash. I dont agree. Even after the nerfs good eles were the only class that I just could not deal with in spvp. So could someone please explain why a few nerfs here and there made a god tier class drop to trash?
Yeah, I’d go as far as to say that ele is one of the best classes for PVE. High DPS, ability to put a lot of might stacks/perma fury on your team mates, and just a fun playstyle.
I think OP just needs to learn what builds/skills to use together, to string together the high damaging combos.
>Frost Spirit
>Not at 1500 range
>Dodging attacks instead of letting your bear handle them
2/10 wnb
I just got a 4.2 sec kill with Frost bow. Uploading it now. I’ll post the link once it’s done.
why does FB affects so much the giant?
Large hit box – same reason meteor shower is insanely good on large targets.
How much harder would it be soloing him on a warrior? I gotta check this out
Hey comrades, I really want to talk extensively about the patch but I am in a place on earth where water is a scarce resource so I am not asking for wifi
Luckily I just finished serving my forum ban, so I am able to give you a preview of how the patch will affect my optimised build:
The build remains 30/30/0/0/10 (or 10 in earth instead of arcana depending on your environment)
The obvious traits are:
- Fire: pyromancer’s alacrity, persisting flames.
- Air: air training, fresh air.
- Arcane: renewing stamina
- (Earth: stone splinters)
This leaves us with interesting choices for fire and air adept traits:
- Fire: conjurer is likely going to be my choice but I may use ember’s might or burning precision too.
- Air: bolt to the heart is a strong choice, although I am much more often using quick glyphs. The reduction in attunement recharges and the use of pyromancer’s alacrity are the two changes affecting us the most because they speed up our optimal rotation substantially, therefore we are benefiting from an increase in our damaging potential. I am talking about buffs, rejoy!
I will dive in to more details as soon as possible. In the meantime please feel free to ask any question
Do you think taking internal fire for the adept would be worth it, just for the +10% on burning speed’s explosion? Or would the other traits be better?

Base damage modifiers > Crit damage. Plus, you lose out on a lot of other stuff if you go in to valour over radiance/honour/virtues.
Is #4 sword more dps than axe auto? Would it be dps gain or loss?
Is riposte long enough to get you through AOE life drain in p3 after the first dodge on the raise?
Edit: I normally play on my mesmer. But once chuck quits messing around with wall I’m hoping to bring my war.
You should only use #4 when you’re running back to him after he does his AoE life drain, otherwise i think it’s a DPS loss.
Riposte should be long enough if you time it right, but I usually just dodge + whirlwind out so I can’t really comment on that.
I’d say infuse it now. The recipe will remain the same, most likely, but after the patch, infusing will only give you another (empty) slot. Items infused pre-patch will have the slot with +5 agony resist in it already.
Is the daily chest still level bound? Can I do a 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 in one day and get 5 daily chests?
I meant doing multiple 48s, for example, if you have more than one character with a personal reward level of 48, since the chest is character bound.
And then there’s the fact that you probably can’t do multiple dailies with this change
Guys, I just realized, now it’ll be possible to get two fractals with dredge in them. Imagine level 50 + with molten facility and the old dredge fractal in the same rotation.

Not only that. Since the really long fractals are generally 2 at the moment – cliffside and dredge, you technically might have a 50% chance to get dredge everytime you do fractals. I also assume molten facility will be extremely long and time-consuming, yeah.
Lovely.
One more reason to stop doing that crappy thing…
Personally, I’m done with this game in general now. I was looking forward to this update for months, and this is what we get? A kick in the face for seeking out a challenge?
Does the molten facility fractal come with a clown car on it too!?
Maybe they’ll add one just to make it “challenging”.

I pug 48s with my zerker guardian and warrior all the time, and I don’t have any problems. OP isn’t starting at 48s, so he’ll have plenty of time to learn the encounters. Besides, you have a lot of room for error at the lower fractal levels, so it’ll give him some time to learn how to mitigate damage via blinds/blocks/ccs
Bump.

Oh hell yeah it’s the bonus “I hate stacking” thread of the week.
So check this out. I kite the mobs SO GODkitten ED HARD, that when I’m done killing I have to go check up on those noob stackers. Not for my personal gain, but to check on all the bros who fainted ’mirin my absolutely insane bearbowing session.
One time, a dude straight up went insane, literally, while watching me knockback 3 mobs in a row. My longbow skills turned his grey matter into scrambled egg, yo. People think I’m cray, but you know what’s really cray, these brown bears.
