A few more details on toys. Costume brawl toys are not tonics… Almost all of them will be usable with armor, outfits, tonics and other transforms.

The exception is boxing gloves, which is a brawl toy plus tonic in one.. so it will not combine with other looks, and Sonic Tunneling Tool… which scrubs transforms off you when you go underground.

I’m actually very unhappy to hear this, because I get the feeling now I’m gonna be forced into some sort of ridiculous punch-out look when using the boxing gloves. There is an RP thing on TC where a lot of people get together about once a month and use those boxing gloves to brawl, but something like this would be kind of a major detriment to something like that.

Seriously, the tonic idea is AWFUL, JUST AWFUL, can we come up with a solution that actually makes sense? Like, y’know, making them armor, basically working as it does now but converted to the new system? -.-

If they have to redo a system that is only three weeks from release it won’t be a matter of weeks but months. It’s a lot better idea to just make it all armor, that way you can just mix and match and dye the pieces with the system that is already in place.

Certain costume sets and single piece would undoubtedly have to be disabled while the developers refit them to new system, but its better than delaying the entire system for such a lengthy amount of time.

Pretty much like you said it. It just needs to be made armor, which would take very little time, but am willing to wait for it.

Celestial isn’t what I’d call balanced, even if I’d like it to be. You would get overall more of pretty much every stat (excepting some side stats) by mixing and matching between types.

I’ll throw my lot in with “willing to wait” – I’ve mentioned before this update really, really feels like it’s seriously just not finished, and rush decisions were made to make a deadline.

Just get it done. Make us happy. We don’t mind waiting a few more weeks – really.

Also this reminds me on my main I have several head pieces on my main I switch between whenever I feel like. All are actual armor I used. I bought several items with the same stats and skinned it a total of 3 times. It seems like now I’d have to basically pick one, and not swap between as I feel like it, short of using charges?

Ezekiel.1985

I have a few armors (yes, actual armors, not town clothes) I keep in some of my chars’ bags that I do not ever equip when fighting, they are purely for appearance and I just wear them around town or whenever I feel like it. But since I don’t use them to fight, there’s zero reason for me to waste transmute crystals or stones on them.

Would I still be able to equip these without spending money? Someone suggested that armor in general is now becoming non-items, just unlocks you loot for your inventory tab, so this is something I was wondering about.

Canonically you’re basically supposed to do the PS quests at the appropriate level and visit the dungeons when you get the mail for them. They coincide with the personal story but obviously aren’t required to progress. They definitely happen along the way though.

This really makes me wonder how some people function in Real Life with sales and contests. If someone gets something cheaper than you did, do you write angry letters and demand refunds?

Things change all the time. Some people on this forum and in this game really REALLY need to grow up.

Grow up?

In Real Life, people cannot come to you and modify your usage of an item you have already bought. If I buy a toaster with 9 settings on it, they cannot come to me and reset the toaster so it only has 2 settings.

let me go ahead and spell this out since you guys (devs) don’t seem to be getting the message

PEOPLE WHO WORE TOWN CLOTHES DID NOT CARE THEY ARE NOT USABLE INCOMBAT

Is that really that difficult to understand? We care a lot more about mixing and matching that giving a crap about them being usable in combat. Come on. That’s just dense.

Let me go ahead and correct you, since you don’t seem to understand you’re not speaking for everyone: A lot of people hated that town clothes couldn’t be used in combat. This is something I’ve been frustrated about since beta, and I’m supremely happy they are finally fixing it.

It is a perfect solution? No. I also wish that mixing and matching were still possible, but I understand and accept why it isn’t. I recommend you try to do the same, instead of ranting futilely about it and pretending you’re a spokesperson for the rest of us, which you aren’t.

Please read what I said carefully. I was talking about people who actually used them as they were, not “everybody as a collective”. Those among us that actually wore and used town clothes as they were, I can guarantee you the vast majority do not care they weren’t used in combat.

With that said, you say “not possible”, and that’s just not true. It IS possible, they just don’t want to bother with it, which is incredibly stupid. Skin replacement is one of the easiest things out there in coding, when the skins are already present. It’s essentially like turning a light switch.

That’s one of the biggest problem with town clothes – we don’t really WANT the whole set, we want a piece or two from it. This pretty much removes our ability to…get what we paid for, pretty much, heh. I know I’ll be looking for a refund for my Wintersday outfit if I can’t wear the legs and boots without wearing the chestpiece I really, really don’t care for.

I was pointing out that they get the skin for free, sure, but you still have something over someone using an exotic secondary, so it’s not as if you come away with nothing at all.

That’s disingenuous. Can you honestly imagine a person, after these changes, building a second Bolt to wield in his offhand, rather than crafting an ascended sword or two and putting the Bolt skin on them? Calling the stat-changing a worthwhile consolation prize is a bit silly.

I wasn’t saying it was worthwile, I was just pointing out you do get something for your time. :p

OP: You know what’s LESS fair?

Putting all that stuff into your legendary, ALL THAT IT REQUIRES, and having SEVERELY LIMITED usage of it. I have long maintained that if you get a legendary it should be account bound. I still think it should be, but these skins alleviate some of that.

To those that did it twice? You have two legendary quality weapons. That’s still a good thing, because you have those stats x2 instead of one legendary and one exotic. A skin is just a skin; there are no stats.

There’s not really a lot of confusion there. They’re talking about clothes that were on the market place that are currently expired. IE, Winter clothes, riding shorts, etc.

The bigger point of contention is the all or nothing suits. DO NOT WANT. At all.

Do not do town clothes as an all or nothing thing, this is a terrible idea. I have a town clothes appearance I use constantly in RP and pretty much at all times while in towns that i LOOOOVE the look of. It is mostly the basic town clothes shirt combined with the winter legs and boots.

Been using this appearance for over a year. Please don’t impliment a change such as this that would make it so I can’t do this anymore. I would be very irate, especially because this look is the only reason I bought the winter outfit.

Wanted to say to the OP…that is not how water works. There was not massive flooding/a huge tsunami because Orr rising would have an impact on the overall sea level.

It’s the same thing with earthquakes IRL. Underwater earthquakes, do they change the sea level? For the most part, no. But what DOES happen, is the water is displaced, ant the causes a massive tidal wave/tsunami.

In the case of Orr and LA, whether the sea level was going to change or not is fairly irrelevant. Orr rising would displace a LOT OF WATER, and thus cause massive tsunamis.

I’ll pitch my lot in with agreeing I was disappointed that she died. It would have been a much more compelling story for SOMETHING to make her snap and sort of realize the magnitude of what all she had done, and then maybe move forward trying to fight for the good team, even if ultimately she still had to face justice after the smoke cleared.

I still maintain that I think she was trying to draw out the dragon to kill it, basically, to silence its voice in her head, just the lengths to which she was going to do so were very….very horrible. Haven’t really seen anything to contradict this. She did say “my master” as she was dying, but from what I saw her mind seemed very much in a back and forth state. Once she stepped into the light, was killing and active, she was fairly committed. But when she was confined, alone and in her own thoughts, the other half showed.

Agree with a few above post – including not deleting party chat, and game messages indicating players involved, with the option of reporting them right there.

Still in agreement, I prefer one of two actions, on top of the above:

1. 3 votes to kick, and party members (even persons not being kicked) can object to the kick. I’ve seen some people get votekicked I thought was wrong. Generally I open zones, so if I see turds join my group and votekick someone, I close the zone.

2. Standard group leader/instance opener controls. They get to kick.

HELP! custom soundtracks not working

in Audio

Posted by: Ezekiel.1985

Ezekiel.1985

What operating system are you guy on? Depending on your OS, the game’s screenshots and music replacement directory are separate from the main game itself.

For Win 7 it goes in Documents/Guild Wars 2/Music/

And you would name your playlist accordingly to whatever playlist you want it to replace (NightTime, BossBattle, Defeated etc). For Win XP, it is in your main game’s folder, simply in Guild Wars 2/Music/

As a note, GW2 will not play compressed sound files. If your playlist directs to a sound file that is compressed, that file will not play. If a file is compressed, its filename will be blue rather than the standard black. When you use disk cleanup, part of the process is compressing old files – old files that are compressed have their file names turned blue. If you have no un-compressed version of these files, you can “trick” them into a “non-compressed” form by simply copying and pasting them.

It will also not play files with “odd” characters. These include but are not limited to:

@, &, =, %, ?, +, ’, etc. Whatever files you are trying to play, I would recommend putting them in a form where they have nothing more than letters, numbers, spaces, dashes, and underscores. This includes any extra info as well. I personally make copies of my music, rename it to a descriptive-ish file name with nothing but letters, numbers and dashes and spaces, and completely clear all extra info from the file.

Also note that Crafting is not used.

Also note that some playlists don’t play in a way you might think they play. An example being, in Hoelbrak, the City playlist does not play all over the city, but only in heavily congested areas, mainly. Whereas in Divinity, City plays everywhere.

2. You made it so escort events are mostly easier to get credit for, however you didn’t consider that sylvari are DOWNED instead of DEAD for the toxic escorts. This does not make it -any- easier to get credit, because you only get credit if they are fully dead, not downed.

One thing you guys need to keep in mind, this is not just ANet. It’s not just NCSoft. This has been happening with alarmingly increasing frequency all over the internet for the last few months. Google been running slow for you a few times? Well guess what.

Enjin’s been getting hit a lot, Sony’s been getting hit, as well as other MMO’s. This is not specific and ANet isn’t the one to fault here.

Not a lot that can be done with the sheer volume these god kitten script kiddies have been shooting at the internet lately.

Are Guardians the best tanks?

in Guardian

Posted by: Ezekiel.1985

Ezekiel.1985

There are no real “tanks” in this game. You will not be taunting, facetanking the brunt of damage, etc.

What a guardian does is provide survivability, to both itself and others, where other classes/groups might perish, the guardian will endure. But you will not be standing toe to toe with a difficult boss, and just standing there, taking damage, and being okay for any significant chunk of time. You are not going to get a classic tank in this game.

If your question is “which of the two classes is more survivable”, then yes, guardian is the answer, barring the exception of that one “unkillable” WVW spec, which is only really applicable in that sphere and is useless (and very, very killable) in PVE.

Sadly, human female, I feel, is one of the worst examples.

Are you serious? Human female is the best pc voice in game, and one of the few I can actually take seriously, because the actor is not trying to fit a caricature. You want laughable, go play a female norn or sylvari.

It lacks, in my opinion, a lot of feeling and realism.

For what it’s worth, though, imo, female norn is the absolute worst. I like sylvari voices though, both genders.
