Halloween > Wintersday > SAB > Lost Shores > F&F
The seasonal events were nice and I loved the change of atmosphere in LA. Although the lag fest and subsequent loot nerfs from the Lost Shores patch really kitten me off…I never had so much fun watching hundreds of people spontaneously drop dead from a barrel rolling karka. I don’t really care for fractals so I’m gonna pretend it doesn’t exist.
I enjoyed SAB like a whole lot. Thank you for making it a soloable dungeon! And for designing enemies that telegraph their moves and an awesome boss that isn’t a giant HP pinata. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a dungeon.
As for F&F…it’s been nothing but a disappointment. I know ANet is trying something new with the story instances, but they all boil down to rushing through waves after waves of enemies. It’s mindless and not engaging in any way. Less fighting and more story/character development please.
Welp, the general feeling on the forums seems to be that if you want to be invited to dungeon groups, don’t play a mesmer.
You mean don’t play a necro…? :P
@OP: Mesmer is definitely more entertaining imo. It’s got useful utilities, better damage, timewarp, and is always welcome in dungeons. I hardly play with my necro anymore – it’s just too boring.
My old main is necro, but I’m spending more time with my charr mesmer because the profession is more fun to play. That and cats that farts purple butterflies are awesome.
Yes please tone them down. They are a pain to fight in large groups
Explode needs to be telegraphed better too because it hits almost instantly giving you no time to react.
Argh wish I had seen this thread five seconds ago :\ Can’t log back in.
I had a blast leveling my mesmer and I didn’t think it was weak. Don’t stick with one weapon set or build. Try them all and see what you like. From 1-20 I used scepter/focus – spamming clones and timing my blocks was great fun. Up until 60 I used staff to stack conditions and sword/pistol as backup. At 80 I switched to greatsword and sword/focus, relying primarily on shatters.
We are not a pet class so don’t rely on phantasms for damage/tanking at lower levels. They die often and if you don’t mind wrack them when they’re low on health, you’ll lose out on the potential burst.
It depends on your leveling stragety. Completing maps/doing personal story/dynamic events should take about 5-7 days, it also leaves you at 50-60% world completion. This method is slow, but if you enjoy open world content I highly recommend it.
Dungeons are a lot faster but you have to get to lv35 first. I had a friend who grinded AC and CoF with his guild and got to 80 in 24 hours. He later regretted it since he didn’t get to experience anything outside of the dungeons.
You can also skip a few levels via crafting. It’s a little pricey if you don’t have the mats stocked up, though.
My friend got booted and her dailies resetted. She’s not very happy since she was almost done with it.
I got a ticket from one chest. Opened about 20 more using keys from story/map completion and the only noticable drops were name contract and 1g. Wish I could trade the contract for another ticket lol.
Never got one and probably never will. The last rare dye that I got was midnight ice. Ever since I’ve been only getting worthless common dyes. Sigh.
You need 5 players to play plain and simple. You cannot pass the checkpoints or even start with less.
Really? I soloed zones 1 and 2.
I have a little over 200g across 6 lv 80s, not including mats and gear. I’d say I’m dirt poor for someone with 1.5k hours in the game…although I spend most of my time not doing anything productive :p
Orr mobs have their CCs reduced recently, so it’s not that bad. I agree that risen nobles/pirates need to be toned down, though. They hit for 4-5k, have flame auras and constantly spam shadowstep. Their new mechanics are not fun or challenging, just frustrating and unnecessary.
Fighting dragons is more fun than being stuck in an instance with four strangers you may or may not like for an hour. There’s more to the game than farming CoF 24/7 (well you can farm world events but most of us are there to socialize).
Rox’s voice doesn’t match her appearance – she sounds too old for a young charr. And her eyes still scare me.
Here’s a tip: use spy kits.
Thanks ANet, I guess I won’t be buying anymore character slots since it’s pointless to have alts now.
Instead of nerfing loot (yet again) how about allowing main maps to communicate with overflows? That way people can group up. Or synch the event timers. Or…you know…boost drop rates everywhere and make DR less harsh. People flock to dragons because it’s pretty much the only way to make money in the open world other than playing the TP.
