For me it’s a physical reaction. My body can’t take it with my condition. The last time I had to PvP for my guild (there were only a handful of us on, and we needed this one PvP mission to level up the guild and they begged me to join them) I came away with fast breathing and shaking hands. I thought I was having another crisis.

Years ago I played other games where you shoot each other down in airplanes with no problems. Now, my body rejects it all.

Glad I’m not the only one >_< When I’m fighting against another player my anxiety causes me to shake and lose focus, and ingame it looks like I’ve no idea what I’m doing. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to turn off the game and do something else. Having to wvw for my gift of battle is pure torture right now…

I don’t remember the name of the technique, but it’s used a lot in concept art. Basically the artist takes part of a photo (usually for the texture) and paint over it so it blends in with the rest of the drawing.

You have a problem with Canthans? I can get that some people just make a character and don’t bother to change its appearance at the start. As Ele/Mes/guardian human females default as a very “super moe cute” level Asian face for the Canthan heritage in the Guild Wars universe.

I really want to see more Elonian descent characters and proper named like Mohammad or something or African tribal names even.

Show your love for a bit more variety and the games different cultures!

It’s the bright neon hair and cutesy outfits that feel out of place, not the Asian faces (I’m Asian myself :p)

Sure, the rank and all that stuff is pretty and no doubt she’s a skilled and fearsome individual. But tell me why it takes so many sword slashes, bullets, explosives and meteor showers to kill a human? I sometimes realize it mid fight, it’s… egh.

Her gate is also impervious to magic and melee attacks, except for random barrels of explosive because reasons. Not sure why we’re not using materials from that gate to build forts out of in the Silverwastes. Modremoth’s minions won’t stand a chance.

I like to make male characters, but most games do a terrible job with them aesthetically. Usually they are too muscular and have to wear big, bulky armor that cover them from head to toe, with pauldrons the size of a house (yes GW2 is guilty of this). Is it too much to ask for more slender, tight fitting clothes, preferably revealing the same amount as the female version? Some guys look good in that kind of stuff, believe it or not.

I don’t mind skimpy female armor, heck my elementalist runs around in a fancy cloth bikini, but give the guys some of that sexy stuff too!

After reading and seeing all HoT info, I’m not that excited for it anymore. Not enough new armor & weapon skins, I don’t care about raids, I’m only interested in the chronomancer elite spec and revenant. I was expecting adventures to be fun quests with unique rewards, not silly collect this or kill that mini-games. I’ll still buy it though because of my friend. I’m already a bit of an outcast in his guild so I don’t want to be left behind.

Your reason for not buying the xpac OP is a little strange tbh. But I agree that there’s too much unnecessary clicking in this game.

I’m down for characters running around in their underwear. More options are always great. And yes we do need more skimpy male armor, because right now the only options are buttcape, butt tent, or trenchcoat. Please don’t tell me there are skimpy options for males…there are none…at least not comparable to the female ones. I find it sad that it’s ok for females to show off their body, but if a guy tries to do the same it’s either the end of the world or something to laugh at.

I’ve gotten 2-3 key drops from 4k hours of play. Still no key since the patch, so I’m guessing the drop rate hasn’t changed much.

I wonder how OP would feel if the bonus and final VW chests were limited to once per day like world bosses…

It’s not hard to open the LFG and hop onto another map. If you happen upon an empty/abandoned map then capture some forts and start taxing once progress hits 30-40%. Your map will fill in no time, plus it feels great to get an event map rolling by yourself.

No one knows the exact number of active players except for ANet. From personal experience the game is far from dead. World bosses maps fill up quickly, Silverwastes is active even during weekdays, tons of players afking in LA and racial cities, and with the game free to play the starter zones are active as well.

While I’m sure the player population has dropped significantly over the past two years, it’s not so low that the world feels empty. Your friend should give the game a try before judging it…it’s not like there’s anything to lose…

I’m totally up for it, but I don’t give it a lot of chance. when the secrets of southsun where released (the first time we had the bathing suit skins), a lot of people asked for it and it never happened.

You can however go to southsun cove (pearl islet waypoint), go south to the beach, and you will be automatically be put into the correct dresscode.

Maybe ANet is afraid people will complain wearing bathing suits in combat kills immersion? Idk, but I would definitely buy Faren’s speedo if it can be mixed with armor!

I have to admit, after seeing the specs I too have lost interest in them. I’m really interested in chrono and herald, though. I might try reaper too, but I don’t like playing necro anymore.

It’s a big shame that the tempest is awful. Ele is my favorite class and now I’m going to be stuck with staff with fire/air/water traits forever. I still have my fingers crossed for ele sword some time in the future…Anet pls…

It’s been three years and I still love the game. I do not regret my purchase at all. I’ve met a ton of awesome people (who don’t play anymore, sadly) and we had a great time exploring Tyria together. My favorite memory would be the first Halloween event where everyone gathered by the mystic toilet in LA, waiting for the patch.

Anyone who thinks free players are getting a better deal needs to get over themselves…

You get a free outfit – that’s reasonable compensation imo. I mean, do you go and demand freebies every time a product you bought years ago goes on sale?

Silverwastes is the most popular farming map at the moment. You can either work towards the big world boss Vinewrath at the end, or follow a chest train. Within 30-40 minutes you will get far better rewards than running champ train or world boss in the same amount of time. Here’s a great SW guide.

Servers don’t matter for pve as they are all one megaserver now. The game will try to put you in the most populated map instance, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding other players.

- The combat and lack of dedicated roles.
- No shared loot or resource nodes.
- The animations are great. My characters feel like they have weight to them, and I love that they have separate animations when running and jumping, and when standing still and jumping. Most games don’t have this, or does it poorly.
- Lastly, the ability to mix-and-match armor, though I’m a little disappointed with the selection at the moment.

The build panel is visually appealing but lack funtionally. It’s hard to distinguish between specs when you’re swapping them because the icons are so tiny and similar. So yeah, either create more distinct icons or add text labels.

Don’t join speed run groups or those looking for zerkers only. Create your own lfg, add “all welcome” in the description and you’ll get nicer players. I’ve never had a bad experience pugging dungeons because I know how to avoid the min-max crowd.

Do you have numbers on this “large portion”? I don’t see anyone complaining about it in-game, on Reddit, and this is the first post about it on the forums.

Everyone deserves basic human rights and being able to marry who you love is one of them. If you’re teaching your kids otherwise, you don’t deserve to be a parent.

I’m all for more form-fitting armor and clothes. Really sick of weird puffy leggings on male characters, giant floating shoulder pads, and don’t get me started on those butt tents, ugh.

I would rather have open world mobs drop loot than be rewarded at the end of the event for several reasons: 1) It discourages players from afking at forts in SW and VW. 2) Even if you only get whites/blues/greens, they’re still worth more than the piles of sand and bloodstone you get 90% of the time from events. 3) The MF buffs will actually be useful.

But it looks like ANet is going with reward chests and champ bags only from now on. Might as well remove MF from the game.

I got 1k shards from chest train along with a ton of other loot. So yeah SW is your best bet if you’re out of karma.

One of the guilds i’m in is specifically focused on Silverwastes maps so I don’t ever have an issue getting a “spot” in any kind of map. My issue is when we have 50% of the zone comprised of guildies and are turning over event maps to generate shovels it’s frustrating to see a lot of players get the MF reset when the buffs can easily be changed to a endure a DC and quick log in.

But if the map is full after you d/c, it’s impossible to get back regardless if you have a group. That’s why the reserved spot should be there. I suppose the buffs staying if you come back to that map makes sense, too. I just don’t get why it’s so important to have them all when they’re useless…

Yeah seems like OP is the salty one here. My experience with the community had been the complete opposite. I always see players helping each other out, congratulating that one guy with the lucky drops, and pugging dungeons is fine as long as you don’t join an elitist party. Granted map chat can be cancer at times, but that’s something I could choose to ignore and not participate in.

There are zero ingame tutorials about combos and finishers (another reason why the NPE was a failure). You just can’t play engineer or elementalist effectively without knowing how to blast fields.

How does bringing back content that already existed take away from the xpac? The structure for the Queen Pavillion is still there, and so is the SAB gate. They had time to do the April Fool’s stuff and create new scaffolding/structures in LA, surely they could afford to re-enable previous content.

id be totally happy with a game taht was like a mmo in every way except you dont have levels and you dont have to unlock skills.

Try PvP then? For me leveling is part of playing the game, and GW2 makes it very easy/relaxing compared to most MMOs. If you skip leveling altogether, you’ll miss out on a large portion of the game, as well as all the gold, karma and crafting mats that you could use later to get gear.

The xpac should be at a reasonable price so more players would be tempted to buy it. If it costs the same as the base game at launch, I’d say that’s too much.

Um didn’t ANet already nerf black powder so that it ticks slower and have reduced aoe size? What more do you want? And enemies are stupid. They stand in aoes and most don’t know how to dodge.

Mobs need to drop loot again. Simple as that. It’s awfully unrewarding spending 3-5 minutes per fort defend event in SW only to get crests and silky sand every time. If I map hop and do only VW, I will probably get the same amount of rewards (give or take a shovel or two) as an active player…and that really sucks.

I don’t think the quality of the bag you get is based on the damage you do. The rarity is dependent upon your personal level, the level of the champion, and a bit of RNG. For example: If you kill a champion in Fireheart Rise, you’ll get an exotic champ bag no matter what (assuming you’re of the appropriate level for the zone and get loot credit). If, however, you’re level 80 and go to Great Jungle Wurm, you have a chance of getting Basic OR Exotic from the various champs that spawn during the pre-events.

Huh, I hadn’t considered the mobs’ level. Maybe you’re right. I always get exotic bags from champs in Frostgorge regardless of my dps. I still encounter the same problem as OP, though. Sometimes I get no champ bags even after doing a ton of damage. Ulgoth for example, drops nothing if I don’t tag him as soon as he comes out of invulnerability.

Has anyone else noticed that if you don’t hit a champion fast enough you wont be eligible for loot?

It’s not dependent on if you hit or not or when you hit, but rather how much damage you do. In large zergs this can be problematic since it can be hard to do sufficient damage if you have a hoard of other people burning the champs down in seconds.

This is only from my own observations but I think the amount of damage you do determines the quality of the drops, while being the first players to tag the mob determines whether you get the drops at all. For example, you are the first to tag one of the rock dog champs during Ulgoth event. You’re qualified for the champ bag, but you didn’t deal enough damage afterwards, so you only get the masterwork bag instead of exotic. It explains why my ranger gets more green champ bags than my ele (even though he can tag everything as soon as they spawn with traps) because his dps isn’t as high as hers.
