Just to continue the discussion here I saw someone post on their thoughts and they came up with the fact that each trait line can lead to a spec..now would you like a profession to have 5 specs in total?

Also interview for the confirmation for one spec at this time

Also wanting to state this as well the term spec means a different way to play a profession not a profession that gets stronger thus limiting the usage of the class. I’m gonna use WoW as an example where you spec your character it works the same way you don’t get stronger just the game style changes.

Just read a post on reddit from the WP video he posted this reply giving us more info The user that posted this was weiown

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2tk5t2/woodenpotatoes_expansion_confirmed_heart_of/

“I spoke with Colin at the after party. Only one specialty per class at this time. It works very much like a secondary profession where you can mix and match your skills. It can also be modified any time you are out of combat. Unclear if each class is only getting one new weapon but from the ranger speciality it appears at least that the new weapons come from the new specialties.

Also, jumping into the specialty gives you new trait options however it also restricts what traits you can use. Exactly what/how wasn’t specified.
Only combos he would confirm was ranger and necro weapons already shown. Though he hinted at looking closely at the trailer for others.
Last thing before bed, no polearms. The art team had a lot of fun making look a likes but no pole arms in gw2."

If it is one per profession with more added I wouldn’t mind that having one at the beginning would give anet some information on how to implement this for future installments.

This is kind of baseless, but with if Thief is Pirate/Corsair? It was a popular idea for a class before launch, and it seems like it could fit as a Specialization. It would also fit with the potential Rifle Thief.

I can see that actually and allows different stealing traits to use with that.

Oh no torch please, we can already spit fire from every hole, what would be the point?

I think that is a limited view of what the torch could be. But nevermind that, what would you guys want to see? Shortbow/Longbow maybe?

Hmm…I would love to see Grimories or Tomes used for eles. Also Snowball here is another thought just now.

With the release of spec do you think people will be forced into a certain roles? Like what if a Druid is a heavy CC class with good support skills ,but low damage output will zerker still be viable?

I mean… Engi uses rifle… Still would be really cool! Here’s hoping you’re right!!!

I wouldn’t mind being wrong since we don’t have any information at all.

Hmm….I got another idea for another spec for Engineer what if we can become a alchemist and upgrade our Elixers and create new bombs and other items to make.

You get “assasin” from rifle lol? Sniper or sharpshooter would be a better name.

I remember an assassin in the movie Kill Bill that used a rifle so I thought of that on the fly to be honest. ,but its all early information and were having a good time doing this.

I’m sure they will allow you to switch between professions they don’t believe in locking in people in specs.

Professions are specs are two completely different things. Professions have been locked since Guild Wars. It sounds like we’ll be seeing the release of Traits v.3.

Ferever.7014

I’m concerned for how specializations will mix in with base profession:

1. are they an alternate profession, with own skills, traits, equips, that does not mix with base profession? So I’m either druid or a ranger but i can’t use ranger skills as druid, or druid skills as the ranger?

2. Are they alternative sets of skills, profession mechanic and trats that does mix in with the base profession and it’s total freedom what i select?

3. Are they free for all jobs, or each stuck to one base profession? Can my engi become a druid?

4. Is there one specialization per profession or more if above is restricted?

1. Yes if its like other MMOs where you reach a level and perform a job change in which you can possibly switch back as well. Which means if you are a druid then you are using only druid skills and so fourth although we only have limited information at the moment.

2. Also what we seen we will have traits , skills and elites dealing with that spec.

3. They are grouped together with the base class the engi will have its own spec while others have its own so they don’t get grouped together.

4. We will get more information once more is out.

Ferever.7014

In my honest opinion it does have raid like potential ,but some of the mechanics she uses look like one-shots however I do see some ways to counter them.

Having 10 seconds to kill the illusions seems like a good DPS race one thing wanted to ask will the clones she summon will they have certain mechanics or act like the regular ones mesmers summon?

Also do NPCs affect how many clone selina summons? If so the NPCs will make the encounter really tough ,but still doable if you have the DPS to control the clones. In that case I might suggest increasing the time from 10 seconds to maybe 20 perhaps?

I will do something tonight ,but feeling sick at the moment.

You know I wonder if Anet can use a raiding set-up to revive old living story 1 content and make it better.

The Tower of nightmares would make an epic 10-15 man raid especially if the bosses at each floor were polished up with more distinct boss mechanics.

Plus maybe if we come up with a system that allows multiple sizes of raids we could bring back the Marionette and the battle at the breachmaker.

Those two are the perfect examples of raids if they balance out DPS , Control and Support would be amazing amazing fights. I know alot of guildies didn’t get to experience the final battle with scarlet. Another good idea would be hmm……I’ll save it for the Raid CDI.

I wouldn’t dismiss the raid content so soon, could have potential. Love how people complain about it even though I know secretly you just want this to be like WoW (but better)

Honestly i didn’t think about it til you said this. Yea I do want this to be like WoW only because WoW made things work really well that’s why people call games wow clones. If GW2 can make raids better then yea I can see it. Honestly I don’t see raids as spamming 11111 if designed correctly. I’m sure they can make maps where you have to have positioning , people to to interrupts , Supports using fields for healing , might and etc. Also since no one brought it up will they rework the condition cap just in case?

if they just want to revamp bosses there wouldnt be a CDI for guild raids soon.

I’m not sure one should feel that a CDI guarantees any certain kind of content will be forthcoming in the game. It’s more of a brainstorming session than any kind of indicator of what’s to come.

Also to add on CDI help the devs out to know where to focus the resources on as well if said content was put into the game. In other words gives them a more clear vision.

Perhaps it implies something about official GvGs? They might want someone experienced in larger scale combat design, and they’re also getting some CDIs going on guild halls (they mentioned one for GvG in the future). While GW1 had an 8v8 format, maybe they’d go for something larger here.

Or perhaps it just has something to do with future boss encounters. Many previous updates have included new large-scale boss encounters (i.e. jungle wurm, marionette, battle for LA, &c.), so they might just be looking to add another person who’s experienced in designing and creating scenarios of that scale.

well one of the job postings were dealing with PvP so GvG would apply there more than anything and GvG is the next CDI topic to as well.

Sub-class: Progression system idea

Interesting seeing sub-classes pop up every now and then though with this system having a guideline to follow would be interesting gameplay and not use to many resources to make new class mechanics.

Though one problem though it seems and correct me if I’m wrong here will limit the character builds though supposedly if they don’t want to be a minion master sub class will they have the option to change back?

Ferever.7014

Ahh I love this thread now to answer your questions.

1. Yes I would like to see sub-classes or as I became to call them (specializations) be implemented as a form of optional progression.

2. What should constitute a sub-class..well I believe that it should focus on the 2 of the 4 aspects of the base class like for example one of the warrior sub classes should focus on Shouts/Banners traits and skills and such while the other focuses on Physical/Stances skills and traits.. Also introducing a new class mechanic as well.

3. I feel two is the magic number here in my opinion.

4. Yes it should be optional in that case you don’t want the specializations to overpower the base class.
