Focus of 2013: Get rid of zerker builds

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Firefly.5982

So tired of people asking for this. Don’t like zerker, don’t play zerker. Unless you go for speedrun dungeon groups you are not required to run zerker and it’s absolutely normal for speedrun groups to want the most dps. That will NEVER change.

All stats can be played if you know what you are doing, but there will always be situations in which ppl want most dps possible. TYaking the fast way out of the game will only make people stop playing, not switch to inferior stat combos and builds lol…

Getting put in a race that’s already started, or even one that’s already been finished.

I got the achievement for myself, I am now trying to win for someone else and it is impossible due to constantly being put into a race that has already started. Have been trying for hours and only got into 2 races that had JUST started before I got in so got 2nd twice -.- Really?!

Players should never be put into a race that has already started.

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

The fair thing to do would be putting a cap on achievement points in GW2 and take out the points from GW1. Then it would be possible for player that have not played GW1 AND players that have not started GW2 from launch, to get highest AP ratings…

Unless you cap AP in GW2 the ‘race’ will never be fair, so don’t complain…

Honestly…if you go to low lvl zones to have an easy farm, you better be competing with hundreds of people. Move to high lvl zones, barely anyone around there and most people that are, are actually waiting a little before activating. So – maybe instead of QQing about the system, you should think about finding your own solution?

Well…I played my ranger for a very long time, loving it, defending it against everyone saying rangers are bad, updating and improving builds, gear etc. etc. I am sick of it and finally switched to a mesmer main.

This game doesn’t care about rangers. The rangers out there will just have to deal with that. If you love playing ranger, play it because you love it, but forget about ever being as valuable in parties as say mesmer or warrior. It’s sad, but it’s a fact.

Where's the Challenge? Like old times...

I 100% agree with this.

Simple solution idea: Hard- and Easy-Mode dungeons. Just power-up what is already there and have players chose that as hard mode option. That would be a quick, simple and temporarily satisfying way to give the more hardcore crowd something to chew on. More advanced mechanics can always be added later. Give the same token reward, but more gold and karma reward for the hard-mode dungeon to make it worth your time and effort. Maybe a guaranteed rare in the end-chest? Something like that.

I don’t understand why this is not yet implemented to be honest.

I’d LOVE this. Like stated above, doesn’t have to be new creatures, there’s plenty of mount-worthy creatures in game already. The regular player skill speed boost would be enough to be on the mount. And of course using skills gets you dismounted. But please make it so being attacked does NOT dismount you. Thanks.

Commander tag, Gimmick suggestion.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Firefly.5982

Firefly.5982

1. Make commanders a waypoint for squad members. i know you think that it can be exploited, but not any worse than portal. just make a anti siege code for it, so no one in a golem can teleport to it!

2. Give commanders able to draw a long line on the map that not dissapear untill commander make it such.

3. Give commander a siege overcontrol functionality, like a golem that is used by a normal player a commander can force the other player out by using it self.

4. Make siege refreshing last longer when done by a commander, 5 hours or such.

5. Give commanders an option to dye their commander tag, such that it fits the theme of their characthers.

6. Put a guild shield behind the commander tag when guild members see one.

1. I always thought this would be a good idea. Has to be made exploit-safe of course, but I really wish the commander could summon people to places (maybe a CD skill?) or people could teleport to him. When out of combat only of course. Maybe a 1 minute delay after being out of combat or something like that to make sure it won’t be exploited.

2. If you give me the option to only see 1 commanders drawing or to turn it completely off. As soon as you have more than 1 commander the map might get SUPER messy with this otherwise.

3. Hell. No. I already hate people telling other people to get off siege. Commanders are players like everyone else. Anyone can get a commander icon. That does not give anyone the right to demand control over siege. Siege is often used to get a lot of tags and badges, believe it or not and it’s already bad enough with people trying to get you off a siege weapon because they want on it.

4. Don’t have an opinion on this one.

5. Hell. No. Commander tags are blue. If they all had different colors it would get messy, confusing etc.

6. I don’t quite understand what you mean? Like have the [GUILD] tag behind the commander icon on the map and mini map? I’d like that. Would help to tell quickly, which commander is where when checking the map.

Guild Missions without Dulfy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Firefly.5982

Firefly.5982

I have to fully disagree. Our guild now uses dulfy for convenience reasons and because it allows us to finish all guild missions rather quickly in one setting and evening – but we did all the missions without a guide before. It takes longer, yes. Sometimes it makes you fail, yes. But that makes it a challenge and certainly not impossible.

I personally NEVER open the guide while I do it, because it makes it boring as heck. I find my bounties without it, I do the trek picture that I actually recognize, I follow common sense in guild rushes and puzzles, I read the little instructions the description in the top right corner gives me and use that instead. It’s really not THAT hard. It’s harder, but thank god for that. If I were to just follow the guide, I’d be bored out of my mind.

Honestly I don’t think it would be difficult top implement raids that work in GW2. A lot of development work of course, but all new content is. Just keep the system, that is currently used with dungeons.

Don’t add gear grind to the mix. Just keep it the way it is right now. No items drop, instead token rewards. Everybody gets their tokens, everybody can purchase their reward with it. Which would be a new exotic armor set. Just like the other dungeon rewards. We need more armor sets in game anyway.

People who want to do raids for gear progression didn’t buy the right game when they bought GW2. People who want to do raids to test their skill, progress through hard content as a team, play challengeing stuff with their guildies and the like – thos will be happy with not getting Legendary rewards for 1 person of the party with each boss kill

There is absolutely no doubt, that the introduction of an inspect feature WILL divide the community. No matter how much the people, who want it, try to say it won’t happen. It will. SO the question is simple: does Anet want the community to become elitist, or do they want it to stay as social as possible? That’s what will determine, if they will ever introduce an inspect system or not.

Selfish Fail

Firefly.5982

Not even a week in and im 90% certain iv wasted money on this game.

1. It’s just a WoW re brand job

2. what is with the viewpoint areas in the map? did i buy assassins creed?

3. there is zero point in choosing a profession based on how that profession helps a party, seeing as they have scrapped that idea and gone with “every prof can do anything” idea.

4. i understand its a fantasy game but when have rangers used great swords? and elementalists used daggers? in any form of fantasy rpg? takes the point out of choosing a ranger for his bow and an ele for his backline nuking skills.

5. no monks? Understandably with the way gw2 plays now you cant monk seeing as its basically you alone against the world most of the time. Might be hard for the non monkers to understand but some players liked being dedicated healers, something slightly satisfying knowing you have kept your team from wiping.

It just seems the dev’s thought “what should we do? expand on our soaring success of GW1 or should we cash in, make a 2nd rate WoW and buy that dream holiday home in the Caribbean we want?”

Why fix something thats not broken? all GW1 needed was better graphics, playable asura/sylvari etc.. new big map/storyline (maybe a level cap increase) but thats about it.

So. You played for a week and make a judgement. That already says it all, but I will still address your points.

1. How is GW2 like Wow? Honestly? I don’t get it…there is no raiding. There is no ganking. There is no forceful gear progression and grind. No mounts. No set roles for classes. No monthly fee. I really don’t get, what exactly is like WoW in GW2?

2. They are there to point you to places on the world, from which you can enjoy a specifically interesting/beautiful view. If you don’t like that, don’t go there.

3. If you don’t think every profession has there very specific pros and cons, you haven’t played enough. Wait, you only played for a week… >.> Yes, theoretically every class can do ‘everything’, but certain classes can do certain things way better, than others. Condition dmg for example is not the best choice for every class. Certain classes have much more valuable support skills, than others. Etc.

4. Just because Rangers are stigmatized to use bows in other games, doesn’t make that the rule. If you don’t want to use a GS on your ranger, use a bow! Shortbow OR longbow by the way…If you want to use a staff on your ele, go ahead. Or a scepter maybe? The ‘standard’ weapon choices for the professions are still there…we just have more options now. Which allows for more variety in game – if you chose to utilize it. Nothing forces you to play a weapon that doesn’t feel right to you.

5. Yeah, no monks. Instead you are now allowed to pick any profession you enjoy and make it into a monk. You can play full support if you want to, without being forced to play a certain class. Which in return frees everybody from the “I have to have this or this class in my party or we fail” mindset, that limits playing choices and teaming up with people simply due to the fact that they don’t play ‘the right class’

Any other questions and/or concerns? I strongly suggest, that you wait longer, than a week, to make a judgement call. Many things in this game might be new and many might need some getting used to, simply because it has never been done this way – but a week hardly is enough time to say something like “GW2 sucks.”

I am not adding anything. Neither is any of what I said made up. I am simply pointing out aspects of this feature, that you have not even thought of. Which, by the way, I guarantee you the devs would consider as well, before implementing a feature solely based on ONE possible use.

It’s probably, because you are not a very civilized person

And yes…I have had people copy my look and I don’t appreciate it. That might not be something YOU care about, but you also think, that YOUR reasons for WANTING an inspect feature are more important than anything else…

You are assuming that demanding a set of gear for a dungeon run is the only use for this.

I wouldn’t use it for that but would use it for:

1. Improving my gear by inspecting more experienced guild mates and players
2. Finding out names of aesthetic pieces of armour (right now I have to whisper and ask and hope they respond).
3. Assisting guild mates and friends improve their gear

And that number 2 is exactly why I personally am SO against the /inspect feature I work very hard to give my toons unique mixed and matched looks and I do NOT want anyone to be able to just stop by, inspect me and copy my look. No thank you.

I know MANY people feel the same way, whereas others don’t care about looks like I don’t care if anyone knows my stats, whereas others don’t want people to copy their builds. A voluntary inspect feature would allow for both sides to be pleased.

There will always be arguments for or against everything. That’s life.
But if you can turn it on or off, it will just be the same as currently.

Now: You ask for people to link their gear – if they don’t, you kick them.
Then: You ask for people to turn on their inspect – if they don’t you kick them.

Zero difference. I am still on the side of saying /inspect is absolutely useless, but if so many people feel like they can’t live without it, being able to turn it on or off would give everybody what they want.

1) Best Proffesion?
2) the most picked race?
3) Is charr Population more then humans?
4) Is their any mount?
5) whats the level cap?

1. I can answer the first question a bit more detailed, than just “Whatever you enjoy.”

At this state of the game, there are very clear preferences for certain classes. Don’t let anyone tell you, that that’s not the case. Specifically Warriors, Mesmers and Guardians are preferred for more advanced dungeon groups and high level Fractals groups (which is another kind of dungeon in the game)

For World vs World there are clearly more useful classes for certain objectives as well. Even though every class has a certain use, so depending on what you prefer doing in WvW, you could pick your class. For example Mesmers are always sought after for their portaling skills and reflects, to hide in objectives and portal the zerg in and the like. Necromancers are sought after for their dark fields when taking down certain NPCs. Elementalists are sought after for their combo fields, which they can put down to give the party very helpful boons (fire for might, water for healing etc.). So if you want to know what to play for World vs World, read up on what which class is used for there and then pick the one that most suits your playstyle.

For PvP you can pretty much pick whatever you want as long as you find a working build.

All of this doesn’t mean, that you can’t play whatever you want. But it does mean, that you will have a more fun/better/easier time with certain classes doing certain things in game

Just a word about the class balance issue.

I love all my toons as well. I play a guardian, ranger, ele, thief, warrior and mesmer. Each of them has their unique pros and cons. But when it comes to how they fare against each other..I can say I have the easiest time finding elistist groups for high lvl FotM or speed dungeon runs on my mesmer and warrior hands down. Which is why by now my mesmer has become my main.

I am not talking about casual gameplay – balancing really doesn’t matter much there. And I do that as well. But when it comes to the more advanced groups it is VERY clear which classes (and builds for that matter) are preferred and why. And Ranger is on the bottom of the “I want that in my group” list. And that is just sad. So yeah. We DO in fact need balancing work to be done. Even if it doesn’t feel like that for many of you. I didn’t feel like it myself, until I started to run high lvl FotM specifically and tPvP.

But.

Why do you deserve anything more, than what you already got for that? You got your legendary. That’s, what you did it all for in the first place. Why give you anything else?

Same will be true for people who get their legendary through scavenger hunt. They worked for it – in a different and new way, but they worked for it. Why would they deserve anything else, than the legendary as their reward?

If it’s the legendary you want, you shouldn’t care about anything else, than the fact that you have it in the end. If it’s something else you want, it’s not anets job to give it to you

1. Fully agree. It was the only really worthy place to farm and there was NO legitimate reason to just take it away.

2. Fully agree. With the party glitch anyway. You can still get into parties, but this bug is SUPER annoying and really needs a priority fix!

3. I have been outmanned plenty of times, so I don’t see the “It never turns on” problem. However I agree with the “Useless” problem…I do believe it could give more helpful buffs. But I personally don’t feel like this is a priority problem.

4. I don’t mind lodestones and Crystalline Dust to be hard to get – if only they were farmable in Orr -hint- It was so much better while the farming was still going on, now the prices are starting to creep up and will keep doing so.

5. Fully agree with HM dungeons. A step towards the more elitist group of players, pretty please. I don’t even think it would be hard to implement, even if it’s just giving mobs more dmg and more hp, make them resist certain skills and the like. It doesn’t have to be a completely new path guys!

6. Party LFG in game would be AWESOME!!! I think we all agree, that that needs to happen. I don’t think an in-game voice chat will happen, period. I also don’t feel like it should, as it would force people to use it and many, many, many just can’t or don’t want to for infinite reasons, which I can respect. I think third man programs are being used enough by those who want to.

7. Incentive. Heck yeah. They ARE working on that though, I have to say. The added guaranteed rare for world bosses for example was a step in the right direction. But yeah, better rewards for dungeons. Better rewards for world events. And please…better mobs drops. Materials especially for mob drops. T6 to be specific…XD I know they are working on this though, so I have hope.

8. Balancing. Yes. Rangers. Yes. I have played a ranger for almost all time since launch after dumping my ele – I know what I’m talking about. Nobody wants a ranger in their party for FotM and dungeons. They are useless compared to other classes. It’s a fact. And other classes with certain builds are just WAY TOO overpowered. Comparing zerker warriors to rangers is like…day and night. This kind of stuff really needs attention and fixing! It’s sad, that certain classes are being picked over others for groups these days. I know, that’s not what the team was going for when they launched the game, so it would be my personal number 1 on the fix list.

How about a /inspect, that allows you to stats only? I’d be down for that. I cherish my unique looks and don’t want a /inspect, that tells you the names of skins someone is wearing.

I wouldn’t mind a /inspect, that only shows the stats of the armor and the total stats that appear on the right side of the character window (total power etc.)

I still don’t think it would be of any use XD But I woudln’t care if they implemented it that way -shrugs-

Why no /inspect ?

I still disagree. Don’t get me wrong, I do plenty of runs, where I expect to be done as fast and clean as possible! Sometimes I feel like just playing for fun and don’t care, sometimes I go with guildies who have never done it and need help, that kind of stuff. But yeah, if you want to do fast and clean and can’t, because of people in your party, then it sucks. I get that.

But. Having people link their gear before the run is just as fast as looking through it with a /inspect. It’s the same thing. And if they don’t want to link, you already know, what’s going on. Make it a requirement in your LFG post “Link gear when invited to party or get insta kicked”. If you want certain builds, make it a requirement in your LFG post “LF 3 zerker warriors only” etc.

If you want to be elitist, you can do that right now just as well as you would with /inspect. Probably even faster, because for /inspect you’d have to stand next to them, whereas people can link their gear no matter what location, server, overflow etc.

I will say one thing: I have done many LFGs saying “Experienced lvl 80s with XXX class and build only.” and still got people with the right gear, that mid run turned out to be useless. Knowing what they were running didn’t save me from their utter incompetence at playing the content. Which is why I still stick with my judgement of /inspect being useless. Even though I know, you will stick with wanting it in game.

No matter if more people want or don’t want it – this game is mostly casual and /inspect is for elitists, so I do not think it will be implemented.

To the people who are against inspect : you are already getting kicked from my runs, why are you so vehement against a feature that would let me state it clearly before we enter the instance, rather than kick you mid run ? It’s not that difficult to spot terribad players during runs. It’s usually not for the stability active when you see a warrior with a Dolyak signet unless we’re doing lupicus. A warrior with axe offhand, a war with sword main hand, any of these will get kicked during the run, no need for a full gear check.
If I’m seeing these pathetic 1K heal appear on me I’ll know something is going wrong and someone is running shout heal. Booted.
If I see you do 100 blades and watch the mob bar go down by very little compared to my own autoattacking or even a whirlwind, I’ll know something is going wrong.

Inspect would just allow me to kick you sooner. Both of us will waste less time. Because trust me, if there is another likeminded person in the group, consider yourself booted mid run.

This is exactly the kind of thinking I am talking about. I can just shake my head. I am perfectly geared, I run a good build (the one everyone wants from me as a mesmer in FotM and dungeons lol), I don’t get kicked from groups and yes, I get annoyed plenty by bad players in my speedruns or high lvl FotM – yet I still don’t want /inspect.

Why? Because of what I just wrote above your post. If you want certain people in your group, put that into the LFG tool?! Or play with people you know.

/inspect will NOT tell you what you need to know, even though you still seem to believe that -shrugs-

I just want to very quickly say: once you understand, how the mechanic works, it’s not difficult on ANY character with ANY gear, build etc.

I did it easily on all my toons, after struggling when I did it for the very first time, without using any skills whatsoever, just by using the mines in the dungeon to kill him. Dodge roll is your friend, use the mines and you don’t even have to play any different on any toon you are using.

I honestly don’t understand, why this discussion is even still going on.

/inspect does not ever allow you to judge, if someone belongs in your party or not. Period.

The best gear does not mean, the person will play right. Just forget about it. We are already at a point in game, where most people doing FotM have 25+ AR just from doing it a lot. Or dungeon people have full exotic sets just from doing it a lot. They could still not be good players. It happens to me every single day I use pugs. Which is why I barely do that anymore, unless I don’t care how fast and clean we get through something.

Just forget about this stupid /inspect. It won’t help you. It’ll only allow people to copy other peoples looks and builds. Thats the ONLY thing it will reliably do. And I say no thanks to that.

Trading per Mail

To all of you, who say “Use the TP” or “I would never use in game mail” – I know. I am not asking for anybodys opinion if or if not one should use in game mail for trading high valued items. I know there are pros and cons for both sides. I merely wanted to know, what you guys could say to those 4 points I made in my first post

To those of you asking, if I would send the item first: No. I wouldn’t. Why do you think I should? The person trading with me gets as much a bargain as I get more gold – I will of course sell it for a bunch less, than the lowest offer on TP (say…30-50g less), which makes it a win-win.
I will be asking the first step of trust of my trade partner and it just doesn’t matter, what anybody else thinks in this regard: as long as I find ONE person, willing to pay first and then receive their item, it will be fine. If I don’t find someone, I don’t…but I have already received a bunch of offers, so I don’t think that nobody is willing to put some faith in me

I am currently waiting on the customer support reply email, I asked the same questions there. I’d like an official answer I can fall back on, in case I do go through with it and then get insta banned for gold trading accusations. I am not rushing this decision, but I find it very interesting to read the various points people make. As long as you don’t try to tell me, that I have to be a scammer just because I explore this way…XD

Heck. Yes.

Since launch I am hoping for this. Flying mounts, please. Ground mounts, please. Underwater mounts, please. It doesn’t have to be in air combat – that would be a heck of a lot of work. But mounts would add such more depth to this game. If we could explore and view the world from the sky as well, it would be EPIC.

Vistas and JPs – just add a zone around them in which you can not fly. Problem solved.
I know it’s a lot of work to do, but would it be worth it? Hell yeah! Especially, if you look at the game from a long term point of view…in a year, 5 years…why not?!
