I’ve got a new glitchy problem. The numbers keep acting strangely both in-game (skillbar ui) and on the character select page. They start changing value very vast and moving around where they are supposed to sit by a few mm..very fast as well. This goes for buff numbers, cooldown timers as well as level numbers on the character select page. I’ve checked the refresh rate (60) as well as updated drivers, and turned off any other processes other than Microsoft ones but to no avail. It doesn’t make the game un-playable but just kind of annoying. Any thoughts?

Guardian?
knight/zerker, 0/15/30/20/5, GS/Staff… never die, good dps.
10/25/30/5/0 gives moar dps with same sustained self-healing IMHO. Give it a shot, you will crush a lot.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
You can go (for AH) 0/0/30/30/10, 15/0/30/20/5 or 0/15/30/20/5, full zerker GS (or something else) / Staff. This works fine to me, I rarely get downed and I have an insane DPS.
Agreed, you don’t have to give up AH (and all that toughness/crit dmg) to dish out some serious damage, although you will not give the overwhelming bucketload of a full zerker build/gear. I run a 10/25/30/5/0 build with knight’s armor/divinity, zerker weps and zerker trinkets. Add sharpening stones and omnom pies if I’m dungeoning. I find this set-up gives me great damage while allowing me to get a bit reckless and wade into trash to lay down light and fire fields.

“Balance” with an all zerker geared Guardian is questionable/dubious, at best. But if you are all about “fun,” the build should suffice for some within a PvE environment.
I agree. Balanced usually means a mix of offensive/defensive taits/gear. I humbly submit my take on this path:

I run a 10/25/30/5/0 and while I do miss the 5 points in virtues…..I had to pick up the 5 in honor for vigor on crit instead. I love the radiance line.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
You, sir, could be a capt. of the gaurd with that combo..9/10!
Thanks to Runa for inspiration on this look for my guardian. I tried to do some mix/match with gold and silver dyes, but nothing ever quite looked right…..so I had to stick to a more pedestrian dye job:
tier 3 shoulders
tier 2 chest
draconian gloves and boots
Aetherblade sexypants
Dyes are black, burnished steel and winter sky for the shoulder cloth bits.

My guardian new weapon :P
You sir, look like a giantbadarsedguardian..grats on the new wep.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I enjoy a build that’s around 3/4 offensive and 1/4 defensive. 10/25/30/5/0 with knights armor (runes-whatever suits you…I use divinity), zerker trinkets and weps. This will give you very good damage with just enough toughness to be able to screw-up a couple dodges.
Good luck!

I’ll also recommend 15 in radiance and 5 in virtues asap. The trick is to bind virtue of justice (normally F1) to something you can reach with your left hand without having to move it. I use shift as my modifier, so it’s shift+1 for VOJ and +2 for VOR, etc. If you get used to using a keybind system for activating VOJ early, you’ll be burning down your foes with the quickness. Even if you decide to take the 15 points out of radiance later, you’ll still be very accustomed to activating VOJ at the beginning of every encounter….which is a great way to start your killing-spree
.

My first guardian was an Asura, and while he was fun to play (I think Asura animations beat all), I couldn’t get past the tiny weps and the fact that I would loose sight of him in many group situations. I ended up re-rolling Human female (the males look super weird to me)……hate to say it, but I’m a lot happier with my character when it comes to looks. Who wouldn’t want to look at this while you play? After playing all classes, I’m still most taken with the guardian play-style. I enjoy a more balanced approach between bunker and glass, and while some would say that makes for “jack of all trades, master of none”, I really believe you can make a build that gives good damage, just enough defense as well as solid group utility. Such a fun class to play!

I stole this idea from somebody smarter than me, but it just looks too good not to. Here I am looking a little sleepy..or something.
Drac hands and feet
tier 2 chest
tier 3 shoulders
Aether pants
Colors are abyss and calfskin.

FWIW here’s my PVE build with gives respectable damage and still allows for player improvement while getting more comfortable with the nuances of the class. It’s not super supporty though, just keeps you off the floor if you’re not a pro yet.

I’d figure if you are super awesome at playing, then yes, it would be helpful to “screen” randoms ( but shouldn’t you be running with your also-awesome guild mates though?)…but that doesn’t seem to rule out newer players who run zerker gear for whatever reason and wipe like crazy. I think if you’re expecting a lot when it comes to player skill, you’re bound to be disappointed with many players who are new-ish to the game or class. I’ll say there is only a “general” correlation between gear and skill. I’m willing to admit to being fairly mediocre as a player so far, that’s why I run a knights/zerker mix with rubies….because I still have some skills to improve.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I really want to get this for my female guardian, but do you think it would look silly with kryta’s embrace http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s592/MDpower1011/krytafnsh_zps3b57efcc.png? FWIW she wears non-clunky armor..nice and lean.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
No pics, but celestial and abyss should be what your looking for I would think. Prepare to shell out some gold though…
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I “can’t” use all zerker without being a liability to my team, unfortunately. My guess is simply that I don’t log on as much as most who can run full offense (while I love to play, I have many responsibilities as well). I am working zerker gear (weps/1 ring/rubies on knights) into my build and getting better at reading tells, etc. I guess in my case and for many others, it’s a learning process. As long as you are pushing yourself to improve, more damage will come if that is your goal.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Sometimes I’m looking away for a sec and miss the “announcement”
. Until I bloom into a near-perfect player, I’ll continue to run knight’s armor+rubies/‘zerker weps/knight’s trinkets+rubies. This set-up gives me just enough defense to make a blunder now and again while still pumping out big-ish numbers and providing protection to my mates.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-

In a phantasm build (20/25/0/25/0) with ~50-55% crit chance and 98% crit damage, do you think giving phantasms fury is overkill?
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I think most owners of these skins (myself included) are unconcerned with impressing other players and just simply like the way they look on their characters.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Ichigo Yurei ( ?^?^)??
Nice job with your ghostly-blue theme, looks fantastic!
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I don’t pay attention to my illusions at all…only because, due to my PVE build, I just don’t need to. With maximized offense, I laser right through content and since my illusions die quickly, I just pump them out on cool-down until the encounter is over (which is typically very short). So, in my case, it’s all about spamming…though I see your point in regards to other builds for WvW, etc.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Well, if you want to do damage, you’re in luck! We are one of the best classes to use berzerker gear as we have many tools to avoid dmg. I’ll let someone else suggest a build though as I’m not used to building around the staff.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Guess it depends. I find that as a squishy zerker , I typically burn through any PVE mobs fast enough that having this traited in a phantasm/power/crit/crit dmg build keeps me alive longer by providing a lot of misdirection and fuel for ether feast.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
So, I’ve made the transition from knights to berzerker gear and I’m kind of floundering on how much defense I really need. My gameplay continues to improve as I become more comfortable with using all of our inherent dmg avoidance skills. Here is my build 20/20/15/15/0 zerker gear/weps and divinity runes.
http://tinyurl.com/kcl5djm
The 15 in chaos and insp. are meant to synergize to provide at least some minor defense while bursting in melee. Seems to work well and I’d like to keep these points if possible.
I’m also very sold on the omnom pies: offensive and defensive at the same time +70 precision seems very good to me. I’m still unsure on the stones vs oil….after some testing on a vet giant in Orr (6 times), the stones seems more powerful than the crit increase from the oil, but I very well may be wrong here.
I guess my question boils down to: How much more toughness/vitality do I really need for PVE and WvW zergs other than the 15 points in chaos (that I’d like not to loose). Any? I’m very nervous about throwing those expensive divinity runes away for ruby’s only to find I miss the boost to other defensive stats. I’m pretty sure you guys are gonna tell me to just do it though
The pic below is unbuffed by food/stones/oil.

Mind sharing how you achieved your stats? Here’s mine unbuffed with zerker gear/ and divinity runes. Only one ascended piece on this girl so far (amulet, zerker).
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I’m a gs/sw/sw mesmer with a ’zerker phantasm build. Defense consists of what little toughness comes from divinity runes+ vitality from 25 points in Inspiration. I like the excitement that stems from having to time my block while in melee and being able to dodge like crazy (vigor on crit is amazing). Do I sometimes overextend? Yes. Is it worth the repair bill? Definitely!

Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-

I just answered my own question by doing it…phew
. So, yes, you can transmute a legendary to a low level wep, stick it in the bank, and then use a diff. character to pull it from bank and transmute it again to the specs you’d want for your other toon to use.
In my case, sunrise, from gaurd to mes.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Mmmm, well is it possible to transumute it to a low level GS, stick it in the bank, and then use a diff. character to pull it from bank and transmute it again to the specs you’d want for your other toon to use?
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I run something very similar with a few tweeeks:
S/S + Staff
Focused less on cond. dmg more on direct/crit dmg.
Melandru runes plus minus condition duration food equals no more problems with stuns/cond. anymore…yea!
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Yes..this. I didn’t get the whole LA asura gate thing for a while either
.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Mmmmm..perhaps I’ll try a bloodlust sigil as I don’t hit the floor often…thank you for your help.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
So I currently run with a sigil of force on my GS and a sigil of fire on my sword (accuracy on torch) for PVE. I’d like to change the GS’s sigil to the strength one, though I know both that and the fire sigil both have cooldowns…
The usual is to initiate with the GS and then to burst with sword/torch. Am I stuck not using an on-crit sigil for the GS if I want to ensure fast aoe fire procs from the sword when I switch?
Thank you for your time
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Here is Abyss (main) and Khaki (trim).
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
the other kind of build you suggest (10/25/0/25/0 +x) was the first one to which I had thought when i started to play guardian… but after few tentatives the final verdict was:
not an high damage as i thought and a lower resistence (in pve at least) than i thought.
The point is that guardian cant wear only zerker of play with a “zerker” mentality.
A warrion can wear zerker and play as a glass cannon or wear knight/other and play as a tank… but a guardian can play only with a basic defensive build with some dps elements which will help you to see some great numbers in pve and pvp ^^
Another important point is the self heal because you really “need self heal!” it’s not an option… at this point there 2 choises for you:
1) get vitality and something like 17k HP so you dont need self heal but you waste your damage
2) get 14k hp and point in damage… the result? you damage is higher, you get more boons, you get more heals and so more survivability… what’s wrong with this?Sorry, but that’s complete bullkitten. The fact that you are obviously unable to play the full zerker style does not mean that it does not fit to the class itself. In fact, perma vigor and all the blocks, blinds, etc. make it even easier to go full zerker than in the case of warriors. PvE is predictable, so it is all about choosing the right utilities (hi @ WoR) and pressing dodge at the right time.
AH is the easy way with nothing to think about since it helps you soak up a lot of unnecessary damage, but a full zerker build will lift youe effectiveness to completely new levels if you are willing to pay attention to the fight.
Agreed, although another option (what I’m currently running) is to move away from the AH/face-tank set-up by using knights/ruby gems while traiting for more damage. I think that this is a good stepping stone to hone your skill level while keeping you off the floor. I hope someday to be so skilled as to be able to run full zerker
. Best of luck to the OP.
