I run full Zerk with Sw/Sh+GS for PVE.
As long as you run full offense, sword works just fine. I strongly dislike axe’s “feel” and I love the sw #2 too much in WvW to give it up in PVE just for a slight dps increase. Bonus points for sword and board looking kitten classic. PM me if you want more chit-chat.

Too cute Taku
!
Here’s my little warrior with a blue theme goin’ on:

Here’s a face that, while it’s not brand new, shows how you can make a male Asura look cute without any really feminine characteristics:
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Yes, the full zerk LB is, like somebody else said, a railgun (esp. with Read the Wind). I’ve found sigils of strength and fire to be particularly effective with it. Opening at max distance-ish will just melt most face in 4-5 seconds. Very fun stuff.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I enjoy a power build as well. I have zero interest in seeing dot’s work their magic…I want to see big crits as much as possible with might stacks jumping up and sigil of fire proccing as soon as it’s able again and again…weeeeeeee! Big white numbers on a splashy red backdrop happening back to back to back until death puts a stop to all the fun
.

lol. Drake and bird FTW!

I have to use accuracy in order to get up to 42% mated w/ fire. I’d like to use chill and fire together.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Thanks for all the advice…this made me almost spill my coffee

Looks solid, ty for your time

Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
So, I read a post recently where someone mentioned a frosty ranger build (heavy on the chill) and this piqued my interest for a potential WvW roaming build. To the poster who teased at this idea: Care to make up a build based around this theme?
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Can my warrior drop a wall of reflection? No.
Can my warrior grant a MASSIVE stack of might on a relatively short cooldown? No.
How about installing a line at a choke that “foes cannot cross”? No way.
Learn to love the staff.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Yep, thanks. I just sleuth’d that out.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I keep seeing the Ele’s churning earth spikes jump up around me from time to time…any idea why? I have Tome of Courage equipped if that means anything…here’s a pic of the spikes. This happens while solo btw.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I like something similar in WvW. Might on block instead of reflect though. I like the way you can pop up a defensive skill only to perhaps gain like 10 stacks of might and then go into a burst rotation w/ GS.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Nah, Knight’s is Toughness, Power and Precision, in descending order. Putting power highest would make a great alternative to Soldier stats (minus the vitality which we don’t really need).
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
(edited by Flintbrow.7985)
Well I do
! I’m aware that it’s not as focused on dps as an axe, but it’s just too much fun to leave it in my pack. Here’s why:
-Savage Leap is on an 8 second cooldown…and that’s almost nothing. I use this to chase down runners (cripple), escape combat, bridge gaps, jump into combo fields and just move around the map faster. Team it up with Death from Above and it’s a great surprise drop-down initiator to scare the kitten out of a redletter.
-Auto-attack may not hit the hardest, but it’s fast and my asura does a little stomp animation on the final hit. Put a sigil of strength on it and (with a decent crit%), the AA hits fairly well with the addition of might.
-Final thrust. While it may be slow and sometimes difficult to land, it pokes very hard and can often finish off an opponent with low health.
-Flurry stack the bleeds, immobilizes and can be cancelled mid-cast to 100bl. You won’t get off the full 100bl, but most certainly will do some significant damage.
I’ve tried to give all the other main-hand weps an honest shot in WvW, but always I come back to the under-loved sword.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I like the Aetherblade heavy myself for Asura, fits their tech bend with a lot of detail and polish. And while it does cost gems, you can (and I did) just convert gold to gems to get it.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
There’s two big problems with PVT for us.
-Most important one is a lack of precision…you really need at least
40% or more of both crit chance and crit dmg in order to do any meaningful damage in a short amount of time. This is important because if you take too long, back-up will arrive and that’s that.
-Less important is that we already have a very high health pool. Is more health good? ….of course, but not at the expense of the needs talked about above. We already sit at 21-22k in WvW, that should be plenty no? Yes, sometimes we will get overwhelmed by condition spammers, but that’s just unavoidable. Do you want to smack your opponents across their face with a soft glove and have a gigantic full heath bar, or smash them through the hard earth and see them flee before you?
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
GS is king in PvE due to mobs just standing still and eating your #2 skill. Come join your brothers and sisters in WvW and grab a sword/shield/longbow/hammer or whatever you want and play against real people just like you! It will be challenging at first but you’ll see you skill level shoot-up pretty fast unless you just want to be a 100% zerg-bot (not that there’s anything wrong with that
).
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
…or how’s about shield’s interrupt and block. These two things have saved my !@# and/or turned the tide in a duel more than once. Axe/shield is very strong IMHO.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Good tips. I’ve used LB-combustive + arcing, then wep swap to axe + hit signet of fury + eviscerate in fire field in the direction of opponent to gain a fire shield to nice effect. Also, if timed right, Death from Above trait will give some shields and other nice blast finishers depending on the field used (from my experience, usually chaos armor from mesmers).
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Here is what I use to WvW. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIQQNAS3ejkO1uBP+OMxBE0jrgL0QjieQ8UKoj5A-jQDBYLRGdJZ4OAkFQEBBOBqIaslRFRjVtATVSpW5KQmxA2xQeDLrOGglA-e
It’s just defensive enough to take a few hits but dishes out the interrupts/dmg. What weapons do you prefer to use and do you primarily play PVE, PVP or WvW? All three typically call for different builds/armor.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Unless you are fixated on how ginormous your kitten looks, roll Asura…for two HUGE reasons:
-Like stated above, your animations will be harder to read by other players.
-The gameplay is just feels more fluid and fun. You won’t roll-dodge, but flip-dodge, ect. Just try one out and you’ll see the truth I’m putting down brother.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I’d like to add that if you’d like an escape or “move forward quickly” skill, bull rush will give you that (plus the obv. knockdown if you have a target) if you do not wish to run GS. I have Sunrise and never use it as I prefer axe/shield as my main for disrupts (w/ hammer), ect. in WvW.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Nice vid! I use same weps, slightly different build. Axe/Shield is a blast, no? I love the interrupts and judging when best to block…makes combat more fun for sure. Keep posting and I’ll keep watching.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I will say that after playing warrior for a while, I hopped on my old gaurd to see if I missed the class. I immediately felt very clunky and more than a little bored in comparison to warrior…which feels much more dynamic and fun IMHO.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
It all depends on how you’d like to play. Nobody can tell you what to do really. Experiment with all the weps and utilities you have avail to use and the build will follow what your preferences become. I use axe/shield/GS/LB and build around shield cooldown reduction, increasing axe’s crit dmg and might on block….but only because it’s fun for me. It may super @#$% for you
.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I like the build as well, though I go 30/0/30/0/10. I occasionally miss “fast hands”, but I miss the damage from “berserker’s power” even more if I don’t have it. Thanks for the vid
.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
This. ..above. Never had any real issues until today when even empty maps are just laughably un-playable.= due to skill lag. FPS seems stable for me at around 25-35, but it’s the skills that laaaaag so hard. Please fix please.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Going for a less top-heavy golem inspired look on my warrior:
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I run axe/sh and have Mighty Defense just for fun. I like to pop shield, stand in some fire, gain 6-12 stacks real quick and then proceed to crush… a lot.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
FWIW, I find the shield cooldown reduction trait to be almost mandatory if using shield. I also favor the might on block trait…now you are mitigating damage, getting a heal off if needed (or letting signet heal regen some), while getting “fluffed” for a Rocky style comeback with stacks of might to unload on your victim
!
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
You didn’t actually post the build for others to get judgy on.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Yeah, all of that looks pretty sick. Well done Sir!
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I run w/ axe/shield (with cooldown…cause it’s kind of necessary) and find the interrupts to be so much fun and the blocks to be great for letting healing signet catch up after taking some hits.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I make much more real-life dollars per hour than I can make gold per hour in-game, so I just buy gold via gems if I want something bad enough (not very often). If it’s not that important, I just but it on the back burner until I have earned enough gold from the TP to buy it. Magic find helps a lot too…I think mine’s around 54% and I see many more rares and an exotic drop every now and then compared to when I had much less MF.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Where’s an Asura, all up in the air n’ stuff?
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Here is Neenu Waffler on TC. ….a dark fierce warrior who BRINGS the cute!
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
Asura Warriors are awesome. They tend to carry weapon slung over a shoulder and not off to the side I personally think it looks much better.
Animations look faster, but weapon speed is the same. Travel speed looks faster but is the same. A lot of armors do not crop though your head like you will see on the bigger races.
Asura warriors are very deadly in a Zerg, because you often get overlooked, literally, when there is a giant standing next to you.
And, of course, Asuras hit the knee caps of other races a lot when fighting, which just makes them plain old mean.
^ These are all excellent examples of why Asura should always be your first choice. All negatives are grossly outweighed by the simple fact that Asura are the most FUN to play
….there’s a reason why ANET devs are often seen in-game, rolling around on Asura warriors!

Longbow, untraited with 30 points in Strength for Berserker’s Power + popping signet of fury to engage + signet cooldown trait + 40-50% crit chance + 60% and above crit dmg
= respectable damage even from longbow’s #1 auto-attack.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
I’ll have to disagree unless you are champ farming or something. I love being able to disrupt the kitten out of large groups and then flip to GS and melt their faces off. Added bonus if your Asura…earthshaker just looks bad-kitten as do all of their animations
.
Neenu Waffler-Warrior for what once was the Toast-
…..is there an older one or a beta that improves fps? I have the Geforce R331 game ready driver but only getting around 15 fps. I’ve tried all the usual stuff to try and cut the fat off to improve performance to no avail. Thanks for any help
