“Dear ANet, nerf Paper, Scissors is fine. Sincerely, Rock”
Elysaurus | Warrior | [LOL] | League of the Legendary | Gandara (EU)
Still have no clue why people think Warrior are best DPS. They are mid-tier. Ele is the highest, followed by a Thief. I’m fairly confident a Ranger and Engi slightly out DPS Warriors too.
A Warrior is there for Disc & Strength banners. Once those are taken by one Warrior, a second is a slot of lost potential.
They wouldn’t be part of it. You wouldn’t see them in organised groups, and PUGs trying to make Warriors viable would just be camping back with a longbow or a lolkillshot build.
Why are people comparing the Warrior sustain to a Guardian? It’s not news Guardian have the better sustain, but it comes at the cost of hitting like a paper plane, as opposed to the Warrior who can have a slightly weaker sustain, yet capable of still hitting like a truck.
People seriously still complaining about healing signet? How many months does it take for someone to counter it? Bit of poison and you are done for.
How can I apply poison with my guardian?
Sigil of doom. You can keep poison up 50% (if on both sets) of the time if it is not cleansed. That is without condition duration or added affects.
It’s a pretty broken system if you need to be running specific sigils just to counter one profession.
Nothing wrong with HS, but the poison argument is pathetic. Why do other Warriors forget the level of cleansing a Warrior has (Cleaning Ire, mostly, but not to mention the usual rune/food set)?

Just an FYI, the money you spend in buying gems doesn’t necessarily go to GW2. NCSoft will be using at least some of it to fund other games they publish.
If you don’t like content, don’t buy gems. They need to produce better content rather than “run around spam F and zerg” and “Scarlet” before they deserve the support.
Yes, you will have to submit a ticket and they will email you with instructions. But if you do that now, they will likely just wait until it has been reworked so you can see if you like the redesign. So wait for that, if you don’t like it, submit a ticket requesting a refund.
Thief is the highest in an optimal group setting. Warrior being highest is such a common misconception, it’s just easier to achieve that high DPS. 1 Warrior is all you need (to take banners), a second is a “waste” of a slot and could be filled by a better profession.
Max buffed, from best to worst:
Mesmer (Sw/Sw with 3 phantasms) = ~15k
Thief (D/D backstab) = ~13.5k
Elementalist (fire staff or LH) = ~13k
Guardian (GS+Sword) = ~11k
Necromancer (D/F+WH with all minions) = ~11k
Warrior (Axe+GS) = ~10k
Ranger (Sword and Feline pet) = ~9.5k
Engineer (Grenades) = ~9k
Sadly, Guang is known for being purely theoretical and those values are so off in practice. Take the Mesmer for example, he totally disregards the time to get 3 phantasms up (bosses are dead by then anyway), as well as any cleave/shatters they die from.
GL guys, gives a chance for Gandara to taste what they may be facing in S2.
Hoping for some good fights!
It is a well known fact that – projectile defense aside – warriors are the best in PvE.
Nope. Not true at all. You want 1 Warrior to run the 2 useful banners, any more is redundant and the slot filled by a better profession.
Currently pretty inactive, but I’ll be kitten ed if I miss an LS meta. Every LS up to this point has had the meta available for 4 weeks, so is “Fractal Fortnight” really only available for 2 weeks, so expiring on Tuesday, or was that title used entirely for alliteration purposes being the main update for the 2 weeks?
What a silly questions, it’s obviously zerker.
“all-round builds” are a waste of time, as rather than gimping yourself in, for example WvW by running a PvE build, you kitten yourself EVERYWHERE by running an all-round build. This is why respec is cheap.
If you do a mix of WvW and PvE, still get Zerker if you only want one armor. In full-scale zergs, your difference between exotic & ascended PVT is very minor in comparison to the difference between exotic & ascended Zerker in a 5 man group.
I’ve had about 4 in ~3.3k hours.
The truth is that the whining minoroty on this forum does not represent the opinion of the majority.
Removing the skin just because of few whiny people on the forum is not fair.
Remeber, people on the forum are minority, and we should not consider their opinion, because it does not match the majority. It is a proven fact.
Please, give back the armor skin, Arenanet. Do not bully your loyal customers based on the opinion of a tiny minority of your playerbas in 1 single thread!
The armor impacted the goals and accomplishments of many months of past players. Reverting has just made your character go back 24h or so. You were happy enough to play without this armor. Big difference, eh?
No. I was happy enough with the new armor that I unparked an alt I hadn’t used much in months because I wasn’t happy with its appearance. I set it up with three transmuted down destroyer weapons and was looking forward to leveling it and working toward a destroyer trident and picking up its own dyes to use for its coloring. I wanted to tweak some some things with a total makeover kit as well.
So taking the skin away from me does specifically make me unhappy to play the character and takes away not only the skin, but the opportunity for me to have months of goals and accomplishments with that character.
So I wasn’t happy enough to play that character without the armor. I certainly won’t be happy to play with it again without another armor I like as much or better, which currently isn’t in the game. I’ve been waiting over a year for the right skin to finish this character, playing the game the whole time, and now that skin is gone. That is at least as big a deal as somebody else having a skin with fire on it that someone else bought without.
But none of that makes Funset having something he liked taken away from him against his will any less wrong than it happening to me even if he just popped in and bought it the first time he saw it. And it was very wrong.
The change is coming at the expense of the people that bought the new skin to placate the people who had the T3 skin and complained. This is specifically what was asked for – take away something that other people currently have and like against their will. Why not just own up to it?
I’ve not said nobody is affected by this. As soon as this armor went live, SOMEONE was damaged. This is damage control, and are affecting by far the minority.
But if this skin means so much to you, why isn’t your character Human?
glad you have a sense of fassion… the new norn mesmer was to eventually replace my 16 year old human disaster… issue as stated has always been the complete lack of skins similar to that light human t3 for the norn, and the other glaring issues that have been with norns since launch… wtfwtfwtf is that parachute on your shoulders?!?!?
that human t3 light is the reason i swallowed a human mesmer for what its worth… endgame here IS all about choosing your own look afterall
That’s an issue with cultural armor itself, even when it was announced before launch, not due to fault of this whole fiasco.
Yes, horizontal progression (cosmetics) is this what this game is about, but there are limits. Complaining that you are not able to use a certain races armor on another race (be that as right or wrong as it is) is like me complaining that I cannot use, for example, the Winged crafted set on my Warrior.
Fortunately, if you don’t like designs you don’t need to buy them.
Bad or lazy designs aren’t rewarded, as very few will buy them.
I think the best way to solve it, is to make a totally new skin for TP. Then make the existing owner armor version a special one, where ONLY the player(owner) able to see the T3 version of skin while all other players see is the new skin. Give these players a one time ability to convert the skin to new skin.
This is actually workable just like when we tone down model quality we saw a replaced model instead, but it doean’t change any thing at all. T3 owner get angry when they saw hard worked exclusive skin is released to public. So allow the one bought this skin to keep and see by themselves only is a win win solution.
I don’t actually think that’s possible. The culling setting its a low setting, generated model, rather than tied to an actual armour set it self.
Keeping the skin for those who purchased it already would make a super-exclusive-extra-shiny-mega-limited-ultra-rare discontinued version of the most popular light cultural armor and suddenly make some accounts worth $1000s if sold illegally.
That’s more damaging than actually keeping the armor available.
The gems spent on anything but the armor will not be refunded, as the product isn’t broken/altered – you still have your new character and staff (if you bought a new character just to wear an armor set you’re silly).
I also need a clarification:
Let’s say someone bought and used the skin and doesn’t like the new one. That person gets 800 gems back, but the skin itself remains attached to his/her current gear? That means that we get enough gems to split only two pieces back to what they were before all this mess?
Or, they remove the skin completely and refund 800 gems? Like all this never happened?
My guess is removal of the skin and 800 gems.
With the change to the unlimited tools recently, I got a refund on my second set and had to delete a set to be eligible for a refund. I imagine its much the same.
I don’t know how transmuted armor will be handled though. Thats iffy, as to get a refund you may have to lose your stats/runes too, unless AN control your account and apply splitters to each piece once you’ve submitted a refund request. Its a wait and find out.

Well were are these players to rise their point? I see a thread with 17 pages and many double and triple posts. Hundreds of thousands players play this game. Why did they remove a skin based on a bunch of whiny people, who do not represent even a 1% of the gw2 playerbase? Not fair!
By this logic, they should remove the Ascended items right now.
Source for your figures please.
I’m with the OP on this one. If they don’t refund the cash, it feels like they duped us into buying gems by offering something they knew a lot of people wanted, then pulling a bait and switch leaving us with some kitten skin we don’t want, or the option of buying other things we don’t want.
I’ll be keeping my money in the future if it’s not a refund of whatever we used to buy the gems.
Its a bit of a conspiracy, but yes, this response should have been expected, so perhaps it was they did dupe a bunch of folk into buying gems.
But you won’t get your RWM back. You bought the gems, not the item skin directly, and you’re getting the gems back.
- When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.
I “upgraded” my full Human T3 armor to the Flamekissed set. If I don’t like the new look, will CS change or supply me with the Human T3 armor set so I can revert back?
Trans Splitters. Job done.

so i guess my super sexy exclusive extra shiny megae limited braham’s shield and other stuff already made my account $10000 worth
Not at all. This armor is ridiculously popular and a reason SO many make Human light characters. Having an “upgraded” version of this is what would make an account illegally worth a small fortune.
But in time, yes, discontinued items can, infact, make accounts worth a bunch illegally, talking GW2, Ghastly Grinning Shield for one could illegally be sold for $100s. If we talk other games, I will use RuneScape as an example as I’m sure many have played that, a few years ago there we items that made accounts worth $10,000s. That could spiral into the same, just from things being discontinued.
But now this is getting sketchy and I’ve had far too many infractions recently.

I like alt-o-holics pushing up the price of my large stack of ltd. ed. dyes.
We don’t push the price up at all, we don’t buy them. We buy 0, none, nada, zilch. We WOULD buy them if they were account bound. You would actually profit from it if they made dyes account bound. So you should support it.
YOU don’t buy them.
I know a few people who have bought a few of the more expensive ones (Deep Glacial, Pyre, Vincent) for every single profession they have.
The dyes are the price because the limited supply is lost when used and cannot be redeemed. Less being used = more supply = lower price, how would I profit?
None of the altists I know buy them. You have some rich friends. Introduce me? You would still gain a profit in the the end of the current system. As players that are that rich are not as common as altists who are not rich. For every “duplicate” dye sale you would have lost, you would gain many more from the [lower class]
No, it’s just the “end game” is cosmetics, and you can’t really cheap out on cosmetics you like. You pay the price, as thats the “goal”.
If dyes are the thumb sticking out as the main issue of alts, you may want to take even a glance at the game.
tl;dr.
They’re just going to rehash another armor set, my bet is winged.
Ignoring that Berserker is objectively the best thing to use in a PvE envrionment, Celestial is bad as you give up stats you want for stats you don’t.

If you don’t like the heavy/medium because they’re re-skins, don’t buy them…
The problem with that is that it paints ArenaNet as lazy and that we are perfectly okay with lazy designed armor with Flamewalker and Flamewrath.
We’re okay because we don’t need to buy them and don’t affect our accomplishments in any way. Not many will buy these, so laziness is not rewarded
I have always been one to speak my mind when it comes to this game. I wanted to say thank you for doing the right thing. Reversing the Tier 3 flame touched armor was the right thing to do.
Hopefully this is something the company has learned from much the same way blizzard learned the hard way that wiping warlock pets names was a very bad idea.
If you say so..
It was the absolute worst thing Anet could do (cause it basicalyl solved nothing, it created only a new problem on the other side of the coin), but clearly in the mind of someone selfish, it naturally must be the “right thing”
pfffff
It’s pretty objective that removal is the right thing to do. Keeping it impacts past players long term accomplishments. Removing would revert those who bought it to what they were barely 24hrs ago.
same way blizzard learned the hard way that wiping warlock pets names was a very bad idea.
Except that was an accident. Granted they did try to pass it off as “unfixable” until sub numbers started to drop :P
Right thing to do for sure, but not something to thank. A portion of the playerbase has been damaged by this, no matter what the outcome.
I actually own this skin and I’m happy I don’t get to keep it as is. That would be a horrible decision.
Why did you buy it to start with? You know there is a preview option…
He likes the skin, but is aware of the consequences of having super-exclusive-extra-shiny-mega-limited-ultra-rare discontinued versions of things.
Super-exclusive-extra-shiny-mega-limited-ultra-rare discontinued items are bad enough as it is, but when it’s just an edit of something, it’s even more ridiculous and crippling to a game.
Why do people continue to create topics that already exist?

I can sell a rock in my drive way for thousands of dollars if I find someone stupid enough to buy it. Similarly if someone is stupid enough to pay thousands of dollar for a GW2 used account, they deserve what they get.
My point is not if some fool buys said accounts, it’s the real-life profit that owners of a number of accounts would be able to make, even if against the T&Cs.
Very disappointed in the fact that I finally find a skin on trader I like, spend my money on two skins and now they are changing it. As someone who plays female characters I have a real hard time finding armor that’s feminine and revealing. Most of the armor appears much more masculine than feminine and barely shows your ankles. I wish female designers would be able to design the female armor. Not liking GW2 armor I’m very sad to say. Aion and Tera have much more feminine choices, so did GW1 (which I played for 7 yrs). I love the game, just want more armor choices and better designs. I don’t want to have to pay 100gold just to finally get a skin that shows some skin and is halfway sexy. JMO. Thanks.
Something wrong with MMOs is higher level “armor” ends up being more revealing. It’s just downright silly.
I like your explanation.
But deep down, how do i convince myself, as a customer, to put any more money in this gemshop.
I’ve been playing mmo’s since around 2003 and it’s the first time i experience something like that. You might say it’s cool that Anet listened to a part of the playerbase that was kitten ed with seeing T3 armor on the gemshop, but by doing this, they probably kitten ed off another group of players, like me, who actually paid money to support them.
It’s a big mess and in the end, i’m not sure there’s going to be a winner.
As soon as the armor was released, ArenaNet dug themselves a hole. This way is the lesser evil, as less people will be annoyed.
The less people that put into the gemstore, the less survivable the game will be as it will not be getting the funds to product content.
Inb4gemstoreprofitsdontgotogw2.
I like alt-o-holics pushing up the price of my large stack of ltd. ed. dyes.
What ever it is, the forums will hate it.
The forums can hate it, but then they just don’t have to buy it.
People who purchased it already will get their gems back with a submitted ticket, so no problems there.

On a refund note, people paid RWM for the gems. They get those gems back. No further entitlement as their purchased product was returned.
I feel it necessary to note people paid RWM for gems, not the skin, so there is absolutely no entitlement to get those gems converted back into RWM.
A friend had this issue with Fused weapons. He played his face with several tickets/emails (professionally, mind you) and they fixed it for him and he pocketed the 800g or so.
I advise you to do the same.

You forget that even though you purchase the item, it still remains the property of ArenaNet and/or NCSoft.
You’ll be refunded the 800 gems. It’s so unlikely you will get your actual $ back because that would involve another retailer.
M’kay. I don’t really care who’s the owner of what here.
My point is, i bought an “apple” and now the seller is telling me “Hey, you see that guy over there? He didn’t like that i sold you an apple, so i’ll take your apple back and here’s a banana instead. Oh and if you don’t like bananas, i can give you a credit to buy more… bananas, ok?”.
Hum, no?
They can do what they like with their property and there’s nothing you can do about it. At most, they’ll lose a customer.
They could just not offer you a refund at all. Just take what you get and be grateful for it, with a little foresight and/or patience, you could have seen this being amended.
I didn’t throw my dolly out the pram when they refunded 2400 gems for my unlimited tools instead of my $30 I used to purchase them, I accepted it knowing full well they could have just said “tough luck”.
My guess is Winged.
Next!

The issue isn’t that it look like existing armor, it was that it was existing CULTURAL armor.
That was one issue. Another was/is that they were just reskinning instead of creating new skins.
At least with reskinning, if you don’t like them you don’t buy them. Cultural armor is a huge goal for large portion of the player base, and cheapening this accomplishment/goal is what was wrong.
You are dealing the killing blow with the weapon set out that contains the sigil, right? i.e. the sigil is on your mace, but you’re killing them with your GS?
It’s not Bloodlust, but my Perception sigil is working fine.
I didn’t know there were enough shards to do that! did they decrease how many are needed to kill it?
Tentacles bring the life down as well. It’s possible this group just killed tentacles while waiting for the 5th person.
Tentacles don’t spawn once killed until all colossi are dead.
How slowly must you kill colossi to use all the crystals. Wow.
Just deleted my soulbound set and replied to email.
I hope I dont live to regret this else thats £24 down the swanny.
So, with the change to the infinite tools, ANet are offering refunds with a submitted ticket (thread here)
I submitted my ticket, and got an email asking this.
“If you would like to receive a gem refund for any extra soulbound infinite gathering tools you may have acquired, we will be happy to assist. Please be sure you convert one of each of the infinite gathering items that you possess through a Black Lion Weapons Specialist. Then take the following steps to request a gem refund for the extra items:
1) Delete the extra items for which you would like a refund. Eligible items include the soulbound versions of the following: Chop-It-All Logging Axe, Molten Alliance Mining Pick, Consortium Harvesting Sickle, Bone Pick, and the Jack-in-the-Box Scythe.
2) Reply to this ticket immediately after deleting the item or items. A support agent will verify the deletion and send you the appropriate number of gems which will appear in your in-game gem balance. Each item originally cost 800 gems, so your refund will be given in increments of 800."
I’m not questioning if this is a legitimate AN email, because it is. I’m very wary of deleting tools and the system not recognising me for a refund. Has anybody done this and gotten their refund? I’d like to hear.
What’s very confusing is it tells me to convert each of the tools, but only soulbounds ones count when deleting? So do I convert or not?
