@Fluffball your description is quite good, it is like 50 autoattacks but from 1 guy to 5 players. That’s why it is OP in the current implementation and this by a margin that is so huge that nobody should even question a nerf that wants a fair game. Sure, maybe some people don’t care about a fair game, but then why would they take part in topics about balancing.
Because it doesn’t kill me. If I get hit with it I’ll use one of my 2 full condi cleanses. Nor do I kill many people with epidemic on my condi necro (far and away my least favorite profession, so I have nothing invested in necros not getting nerfed.)
I agree with the people saying this is getting blown way out of proportion. Condis have been really weak in zerg fights for a long time.
I play PvP because I think it’s neat. I couldn’t even tell you what the rewards were for last season except that I got a set of armor out of it for a character I don’t play.
There is a lot of setup in an epidemic bomb, it’s like 50 attacks all combined. Imagine getting hit by 50 autoattacks from power builds, you get instantly killed when run over by a zerg as well. If you’re fighting 50 hard hitting enemies all at once, every now and then you’re going to go down. In both cases if you’re fast you can save yourself. I generally run 2 full condi cleanses and a damage immunity.
Basically I just don’t care. Sometime you go down.
Maul spam looks like it will be fun to play around with, with the instant recharge from GS5. I’m thinking quickness from pet swap to wolf while simultaneously mauling, wolf does extra brutal charge, you GS5 straight into another maul.
That would work on either the standard staff menders or valk builds.
On the other hand maul already has a super low CD, so not a ton changes. The pet bonus damage is the bigger change I guess.
I’ve been playing for over 4 years now, and I have yet to get to the Beetletun Vista without a Mesmer to port me.
Is that the one just sitting on the ground next to the WP?
Anyone getting hit by maul deserves whatever happens. That’s the single most telegraphed skill in the entire game.
Why buff trapper Thief without adding a physical damage modifier to prevent stealth spam whilst applying conditions? (WvW specifically)
I’ll second this. That build is just purely for trolling, it shouldn’t be in the game.
I thought you were sarcastic because your claim sounded, well, chimerical.
Dang girl, dropping that sick vocab.
On snap. Pets might be able to land an autoattack for the first time since 1442 AD?
Sharpened edges nerf seems bizarrely harsh.
this change to the map is no good, whoever changed it must not have like it. used to be my favourite map.
You’re a thief or mesmer right?
You don’t need more than 100% condi duration, so viper’s trinkets are not required. But LS maps make trinkets and backpieces really easy to get.
What one do you have? I’ve seen good deals on HP Envys but they’re always $900-1200, nothing that’s actually cheap
I dunno my wife has an amazon prime memebership and we got it on sale. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. It’s like 12gig RAM, like 2 TB HD, internal graphics could run GW2 but when I put the card in it obviously went through the roof. It was only about 600 bucks. I’d never pay 1200 for this thing that’s outrageous. I’d build an insane gaming rig for 1200.
Don’t craft jeweling, it’s utterly useless consider how easy it is to get ascended jewelry.
Get your weapon crafting up to 500 though, ascended weapons are a big increase and it’s nice to not have to rely on random drops or whatever.
Eventually get your armor crafting up if you play the game long enough.
Just out of curiousity, what is the best PVE condi build for Mesmer, regardless of how poorly it performs?
Specific to raids, you want this build: http://qtfy.enjin.com/mesmer#Gear2
It is actually pretty powerful in raids, but that is because you have one high health enemy that you can cast your phantasms on. Most of the damage comes from your pistol phantasms. It would really struggle anywhere with trash mobs like open world, dungeons, and fractals because the ramp up time for the damage is very long.
Good gravy I didn’t realize someone could make a build format that unreadable.
This came up when I googled condi mesmer. Looks like I actually know what I’m talking about! Even though I have no idea what I’m talking about.
Well custom is always going to be way more for your money, but the cheapo HP Envy I’m on right now can run GW2 at max settings in most areas. I don’t because I’m dangerously close to blowing up the PSU, but it can. I get like 80 FPS when I turn down the graphics.
Just an option.
The chess game area is how you should be spending your time waiting for matches.
Use it on something useful like armor or weapons.
I wouldn’t get a prebuilt at your price range since it’s most likely going to be terrible for the price
It won’t be a gaming rig, but for GW2 purposes a prebuilt is more than fine. It just saves some hassle if OP doesn’t care about getting really into the PC. You can run GW2 on a cell phone.
Just make sure you get a graphics card if the computer comes with an internal one only. GPUs are basically what make games run. It’s sort of like using the default tower speakers instead of having external ones with a subwoofer.
Most of them you just literally stick it in the slot and install the drivers that came on the CD.
I know nothing about mesmer, but you can do some ludicrous (relatively speaking) damage just with the scepter autoattack and pistol phatasm. I don’t know if that’s used anywhere or like meta or anything, it’s just something I noticed because I used to have my mesmer in dire gear before I learned how to play it. I took the traits that reduced the CDs and then also the one that gives condis on shatter.
#not useful post from a guy who doesn’t play mesmer
It would have to be renamed to “Max Range Shot”.
I also recently blew up my motherboard on my dope gaming rig. I thought about building my own PC, but I wound up getting an HP Envy with all the usual programs like Word and etc., for like 600 bucks. More than capable of running GW2, and that’s the most demanding game I use. I stuck in a better graphics card because I had it and I’m good to go.
Also HP is consistently rated the best or second best in every category by Consumer Reports. Dell is the other one.
Edit: Do you have a monitor already I assume? That adds another hundo or 2 to the price of any computer if you don’t.
I dunno, I pretty consistently find good 1v1s or small group fights in WvW. Probably depends on your world and play time. There are also standard dueling spots like the ruins island on the alpine borderland. Which is the stupidest place ever to duel since it’s such a well traveled location, but whatever.
Sounds like you might prefer WvW roaming, OP.
They mentioned both. The visibility was bad due to the camera being inside the roof, and they also said they made getting into the tower “substantially easier”. Honestly I don’t think I ever completed the blue side jump puzzle while under pressure. I just had to take the stairs. The red side was not as bad, but you still had to blow a dodge just to get in the dang tower if you were in combat without swiftness.
The fix was mainly about teleports being hella OP before. Now it’s a much more even playing field.
I managed to get good enough at power shatter that I can kill people in WvW, or at least survive long enough to run away. Which is a massive improvement over my literal 5% win rate in PvP on mesmer (no I’m not kidding.) Playing mesmer is all about having good keybinds, that’s why I learned to hate the profession 4 years ago. It’s so much easier now.
I feel like viper’s is viable though, I apply an awful lot of confusion. Isn’t that why it’s used in PvP?
That entire example confuses me. In addition to your points, why are a and b healing you for more when they’re together? It isn’t supposed to stack. Then when a expires, b is healing for the same that a did by itself, even though b has more healing power.
They don’t heal you for more together, B heals for more because it has higher healing power.
The duration of regen stacks so you get the full amount of both sources sooner or later. Don’t worry about when the regen ticks, just know you get the full duration of both sources.
Newbies have coins and don’t need them, so they sell for a profit. Rich players making legendaries buy coins for a trivial amount. Yes 1 gold is a trivial amount when you’re making a legendary.
The price is totally fine.
ABBA!
I’m not seeing anything worse than a trait that applies a conditional cripple once every half a minute. I win.
It’s not that terrible in pvp…? Maybe? I can imagine it might help finish off someone low on health who is trying to run away. It’s a lighter version of https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Panic_Strike
Find me a ranger who has ever used this in favor of the traits it is up against, or even if it was against nothing, and I’d agree. If you’ve never played PvP or ranger before, it sounds like a reasonable trait. It’s beyond useless.
Why on earth would it improve your drop rates to open a larger amount???? That doesn’t make sense in any game.
Sword is a power weapon unless you’re fighting humans. If you’re into WvW you can use sword as a condi weapon for the poison and evades, but it has way too little condi application for a PvE condi weapon.
Ranger tends towards either power or hybrid, it doesn’t really do condi in a fun way. The only way to make it more complex is to run it with druid and support in like fractals or wherever.
Use the LFG is what people are saying. You need to join a map that is maxed out so use the LFG and then right click > join in map on the commander.
I gathered as much but I am unable to target the chandelier. I tried using AoE skills as well with no success. I used the special action key under it as well. Does he need to be like DEAD CENTER or something?
So I read dulfy’s guide and I searched for YT videos that showed it happening and I still don’t have the slightest kitten idea how to do this. I stun Caudy under the chandelier and then just stare around the room aimlessly never having the option to attack it.
Is there a button to push or… ???
I’d just toss them, you’ll only get a few silver in material prices.
Good lord that looks miserable to play, haha. Interesting.
Why do you have SotW, for the extra damage? You might look at taking glyph of empowerment instead as the cooldown is much much lower and it helps out 4 random people near you. It’s very nice for meta event zergs.
Also look at quickening zephyr over sic’ em, as it will give you a stun break and has other neat uses in addition to just increasing your damage. For example if you’re about to die the superspeed can move you and quickness gets your heal off, etc.
But ya, totally viable build you’ve got there.

I’ll be impressed if anyone across all professions can beat this:
I’d use it if it were a wilderness survival adept trait. 10sec cripple at the right kind of time would be glorious for condi longbow.
But it’s not and is the worst trait in the entire game without question. The traits it is up against are no joke either, they’re totally solid traits.
everyone kept saying warrior is overpowered, i am still in the dark here…
Cuz warriors are immune to all forms of damage and have insane passive healing. The passive healing on warriors is like the active healing on a menders druid.
Any build not using a staff is starting off at a deficit.
That sounds about right. I can’t stand playing necro, it’s just a blob that sucks up attacks with no deftness or grace.
I’m not suggesting the poll was about amulets, I’m suggesting it should have been about amulets. Or rather the matchmaking — if they’re going to limit it in any way other than rating — should include amulets.
The poll was not about creating a balanced team composition or about profession stacking.
It involved a lot of different things, and the exact reason for the poll was not elaborated on most likely because there are about 10 different mini-topics like the profession MMR you brought up. For example one of the most complained about topics since launch has been multiple thieves on the same team is usually an auto-lose.
I’m bringing up the amulet because taking those into account is a way to get better matchmaking. If one team has a couple menders and the other team does not, without knowing anything else about what’s going on I think you can make a reasonable prediction about who wins. That’s not good for matchmaking.
I’m not seeing anything worse than a trait that applies a conditional cripple once every half a minute. I win.

eww mesmer?
I know right? I’m actually enjoying the open world stuff so far. I think the first time I got mesmer to 80 I was just too inexperienced with the game and didn’t have good enough keybinds to do the whacky stuff you can do. Even something as simple as GS2>insta shatter wasn’t something I could pull off 4 years ago. I think I could even beat some scrubs on glass mesmer at this point.
