With dungeons and possibly fractals dead, this does make a lot of sense. Most LFGs are open world now, so it’s a mess.
Again I ask what does this expansion offer a wvw/pvp player that would justify 50$?
The elite specs are absolutely game changing. Beyond that, you have a HUGE amount of content available to you that you don’t want, so it’s possible you shouldn’t have bought it if you’re going to ignore all of it.
I’d also point out it was pretty clear and no false pretenses were made that PvP or WvW players were going to get a lot of new content. Each got 1 new map, and we knew that before the expac launched.
Guild hall costs are insane for small guilds

I honestly don’t even know what the function of guild halls is, so you aren’t being punished that much. It’s just something you want.
I think people are just inherently scared of change in all things in life. That will probably be misinterpreted by the OP, but I think it’s the cause of a lot of expansion complaints.
It is intimidating, I now no longer know how to play 9 different professions at expert level.
It will never, ever happen for reasons I even agree with, but I’d love to see armor with selectable stats (i.e. 300 stat points to allocate how you see fit.)
Ontopic: If we had to choose a Norn I would pick Jora before Eir.
Eir did more than Jora, Jora is just from an older era so it makes it seem like she did more. Eir fought 3 elder dragons, Jora fought 1 dragon champion.
I’ve been thinking about making a “nerf Queensdale” thread and this has encouraged me to do so.
Between resounding timbre, cultivated synergy, and lingering light, you can heal your party for 3k in full zerker just by healing yourself. That’s about as far as you need to take it until something harder comes along. LB/melee swap.
Actually a Scarlet legend would be interesting, although probably not popular. There is plenty of obvious audio for it, and she was ridiculously powerful. She could have solo’ed Shiro or Mallyx.
I seriously doubt that’s the build he’ll run in a tourney. Usually he plays crazy builds on streams and does the “real” build for the tourney. Knowing how he is, he’s running it purely for the fun of moving across the map in like .4 seconds. There is a lot to be said for that in solo queuing as well…
I was on a T4 map last night, got the bladed chest (although I don’t know why anyone want them, they all look hideous)
The light armor one makes human females look…. “interesting” if you catch my drift. Really weird that it seems to change your anatomy. Or maybe I just am used to not dressing my characters like ladies of the night.
I don’t have a issue with Fluff but I’ll agree with Swag on this one. Not that it matters because we are all friends here.
Statements like “best” always lead to these replies. Big picture there are a lot of players in the GW2 space so best spvp or xyz player is always subjective. This is why you could get away with it a bit more in DaOC or WoW because they had actual leaderboards that represented “all” players. DaOC had the best one yet because it broke it down by guild, alliance, player, and class…
Anyway – will check out the stream regardless and thanks for the post fluff.
Fair enough. I didn’t realize people would get upset over something like my opinion.
I just wanted to highlight that he was “one of the best” because usually when I talk about streamers people ask who they are.
There is no one in the game that can 2v1 nos and phanta for any length of time. You really hate rom, don’t you?
Understanding enemy mechanics will help as well, certain enemies hit very hard, and others drop aoes that can destroy you if you stand in them. In the first map, among the more dangerous enemies are the mordrem snipers, one of their attacks makes a “line” aoe, and if you stand in it, you’ll probably die. They’re easy to kill though, so id suggest focusing them down, before they have a chance to hit you while you’re looking elsewhere. Same thing with other enemies, pay attention to what they do, which of their attacks hurt the most, etc.
This is good advice, paying attention and learning what enemies do will make it a lot easier. Trying to melee those hylek archers that drop poison fields at their feet = dead player unless you have a plan to knock them out or something. I also see people complaining about smokescale’s in their immune fields, when all you need to do is walk 4 feet to the left to get them out of it.
In tournies he plays the most efficient builds, as does everyone else. Otherwise he plays whatever floats his boat.
Not sure why you’re so hostile about it, even if you don’t like him he’s obviously one of the best out there, he won the WTS for pete’s sake. He and phanta dueled to a stalemate in a few matches last night, it was fun to watch.
What I do is taxi in, leave the party so more people can taxi, and then make a new party with the people in my area.
I wasn’t sure where to put this, but I figured some people would be interested to see that ROM has been streaming a ton of druid lately.
http://www.twitch.tv/romoncoke/
If you’re not familiar with him, he’s a PvP anet tourney champ, and is one of the best PvP players in the entire game.

I find WHaO keeps my AF ready for when a big group gets nuked, as well as blasting out something like 3k healing with no healing power at all (druid procs plus the regen.) You don’t need to be constantly worrying about healing, but some events have hard hits that people don’t dodge.
I wouldn’t use gold to gear your character (on the trading post). Gold is the most valuable currency. You can get exotic or even ascended gear in a lot of ways, like dungeon tokens, karma, laurels, WvW badges, fractal relics, and so on. It can be good to mix and match methods if you don’t have a lot of any one currency. Karma has very little use, so that’s a good place to start getting gear.
I am not having any trouble in full zerk. You’re doing something wrong, figure out what it is or change armor.
I got in my first organized map last night, was having fun helping out, we were at tier 2 and I headed up to the Patriarch. Bombed him, more fun, and when his shield poofed I landed on his platform to continue the fight.
Hello, pop up game crash window …
When I logged back in I was in an empty map on a platform clear of any Patriarchal combat.
I guess I’ll try the LFG taxi route, though I really did want to be part of a full chain working it up to 4.
It’s super important to get into a party so you can get back in after a crash. Until they fix this ridiculous memory problem, you will crash before the meta ends.
Zerk is still strong/strongest in PvE and WvW. We don’t know enough about raids to know what gear will be used in them yet. Probably zerker or zealots?
I see no problem with a meta event being hard. Players will get it sooner or later.
It’s not even sooner or later, just taxi in and you win. VB is the easiest of the 4 maps, followed very closely by DS.
So I finally got my tiger, and it’s using its F2 after charging into melee range of a foe. It need to have the same behavior they forced brown bear to have.
Well, it IS a leap is it not? They would have to make it a two part skill, use the fury immediately, then move into range and leap, although that would not be too hard to do, really. It seems more directed at being a melee pet, ie, the Ranger using melee.
Oh, and congrats on getting it btw
Oh good grief, I didn’t read the skill description. I remember that it’s a leap now, I was thinking it was the fury version of might roar for some reason. Ok not a bug, just a weird skill.
There is definitely a place for the berserker druid. I’ve been running this is the map meta events and despite some people claiming every berserk DPSer should be able to handle themselves I find an occasional druid heal comes in handy. For example the circle tower event in dragon stand inevitably loses a few people, and a few zerk druid heals can keep the group going, losing less or no people.
Let’s see what happens with raids.
You might want to checkout http://dulfy.net/
First thing I did.
1. Do the Story content, this can be done solo.2. Use some speed Skills/Boosters to just running past everything to explore the map and uncover all of the way points. While completing the Mastery for Gliding and Mushrooms.
3. Then go back to pickup POI’s and Mastery Points.
4. Join groups for events and Hero points.
Most of the Events are group content, use the LFG tool and/or join a Guild.
“Running past everything” LOL! Solo story content. LOL! Other suggestions are good. I think I’ll just have to stick with large groups if I want to experience the content.
You’re wrong. I’m running around in 100% berserker gear and having no troubles at all. What that should tell you is you’re missing something. Like I said, are you dying to condis? There are a lot of condis that will almost insta-kill you. There are direct damage attacks that will insta-kill you. You need to find where your problem is. I’m still up if you want some mentorship (I will not put an apple up though.)
It’s kinda weird because I feel like the smokscale was added because someone realized pets can’t hit human targets, and then you get things like the bristleback and wyverns that can’t hit stationary golems….
So I finally got my tiger, and it’s using its F2 after charging into melee range of a foe. It need to have the same behavior they forced brown bear to have.
You have a problem somewhere, you need to find out what it is. You’re doing something wrong, and I don’t meant that as an insult. Like are you dying to condis? Do you need to take an invuln? Are you in melee when you need to be ranging something? Etc. I’m online right now if you want to wander around the jungle and maybe I can spot what you’re messing up.
Can’t change maps unless it asks me to. So how does one get to a “serious” map? “Serious” maps must be very rare, cause in all of this time I have never seen it get past security level 1.
Ok there is your problem. If you’re new to big meta events like vinewrath, tequatl, and so on, you need to join a “Looking for Group” party. Then join your party in that map instance. That’s how people get maps full of others interested in completing the event, otherwise just assume your in a map where people want to do hero challenges and what not.
Also if a full map is needed, that alone is an unreasonable expectations, cause that means only people who play at the right prime time hours have a small chance of it actually completing, everybody else who doesn’t play at those right prime time hours have no chance.
It’s not unreasonable because it happens 24/7 with very little effort. Hell, if you’re online now I’d be game to complete it with you, just send me a whisper. You just need to join a party that wants to do it.
Pretty sure the DnT website has all these calculations in extreme detail.
Got to max tonight, lots of people got Bladed Chest box (including me yay).
Spread out and do all the Events you can (hold the camps, get them tiered up) and kill all 5 bosses and you should be fine.
I can’t do that all by myself, I have to rely on everybody else on the map to do their part, and it isn’t happening.
I think this can only be fixed by having reasonable expectations based on the number of people actively participating.
It’s like vinewrath. You won’t finish it on a random map, but every serious map is an auto finish. VB is not a difficult meta.
If you’re on a random map you won’t progress very far. The events themselves are quite easy, you just need a full map, or map of people actually trying to progress it. Join a group that has a taxi and you’re almost 100% guaranteed to finish the meta. It’s very easy if people spread out properly.
I crash a lot more often than I send the reports in, because you generally crash at the final boss of a meta event, and their bug report takes AGES to send in. I hope anet has a way to track that and aren’t just relying on crash reports. I crash 4 times more often than I’m able to wait for that thing to email itself to anet. If not, it’s several times worse of a problem than indicated by crash reports.
I meant this screen, so they don’t even have to adjust the UI at all. Make the skill clickable to become the F2 and that’s all that’s needed.
Even rushing through on no sleep I thought it was pretty clear that was his mind in the dream we were fighting. That’s not his real “body”.
Edit: From a mechanical view point, I think the map-wide mouth fight combined with the solo mind fight is pretty satisfying.
Would it not depend on the character?
Because the Revenant’s magic is white, does that mean the character’s favourite colour is white? No. It can be whatever they want it to be.
A Necromancer can be a patron of Lyssa if they want, in the same way a Revenant can devote to who ever they want. I think the whole associating gods with professions thing is a bit odd and pointless.
It came from GW1 where each class had a particular patron god, as well a humans ‘misunderstanding’ a lot of how magic worked. It’s changed now, although it would still make a lot of sense for a ranger to worship Melandru. I’m sure a lot of human rangers still feel obligated to worship her to (mistakenly) improve their nature magic.

I am sad because Eir died. (Hope she will return as a spitit or something.)
Revenant legend?
The ghost stuff comes from the connotation of the word ‘revenant’, but the denotation is a better fit.
I don’t think god choice would matter at all for a revenant. You’d just have to be adventuresome enough to travel to the mists, but the rest of the personality could be anything. However, Balthazar does seem to fit due simply to the fact it’s a soldier armor type.
The UI would be really easy too. Keep it the same, and when you pull up the pet skills menu you click the one you want on F2. It’s a good Band-Aid fix if they ever plan on giving us workable pets.
Edit to capitalize Band-Aid since it’s a brand name.
Every legendary? I thought minstrel, howler, and a few others had no footprints? I know that if the minstrel has them you cant see them, or at leat i cant..
Howler doesn’t have footprints, but you leave mist puffs.
There is something messed up with their missile attacks. I was trying and failing to hop to a vista in the jungle and some vet bristleback was trying to attack me. He never even got me in combat, despite me utterly ignoring him and hopping around in mostly the same place. The projectiles are crazy slow and they don’t seem to work on slopes.
if in trolling the forums you find a suggestion, or have one yourself that you feel will better balance the class please post them here.
Trawling. There’s a big difference!
I’ve noticed facets turning themselves off pretty regularly as well. I lightly suspect it could be changing levels in core tyria via downscaling, the same bug that messed up necro minions a while ago.

Rurik….
Togo…
Kormir……Trahearne…
Suuuuuure there’s no pattern there. (We even got to put Rurik down) Not surprised in the least.
Ha. And you’re also missing about 40 other major characters. Anet really likes to kill off its characters. They need to come up with some new hardships to add drama to the lives of their NPCs, right now we just know the drama comes from a death.
Back to the topic on hand… you wouldn’t lose overall damage (assuming they don’t nerf it again) but you would lose the ability to use that damage on demand. I’ve seen the use cases, including the videos posted, and its not worth losing one of the best abilities for reliable on demand pet damage.
It’s a DPS loss because right now the smokescale is casting a useless AI smoke field when you want it to be attacking. If smoke field is the F2, that’s the highest possible DPS because smoke assault will be used on recharge, plus you turn a useless skill into an amazing skill. It’s a win win for everyone.
I’m getting too much loot. After a meta event it takes me like 10 minutes to open 5 inventories worth of random bags while talking to a merchant. I’m not complaining, but holy cow does a lot of stuff drop.
On the bright side, it’s getting people to team up more, since everyone knows they are going to crash and want back in the same map…
Some dev posted on reddit that they are aware of the problem. It’s getting totally out of hand. Any length of time on a new map and you’re going to crash.
