Negative you get your early oranges through karma vendors crafting and 100% zone completion. Then once you have some real gear on you go with a group and get your nice dungeon oranges. They never said someone in greens would be able to roll through dungeons. As it is there are only 2 dungeons in the game that require effort the rest are faily easy with a properly geared team.
Yet they also said that gear wouldn’t matter, that this wasn’t a gear treadmill.
Correct you can get basic oranges from the other method easy to where you are on par. If you want the neat dugeon stuff its not quite as easy to get.

GW1 was not for everyone neither is GW2. Many of you will love GW2, some of you will not.
It’s too late pretty much everyone I know is transmuting any cof gear they have so not to be associated with the people that can only run #2 of cof and no other dungeon.

Yes I guess I should have said medium core players can do it in 2 weeks. And if you think the best cosmetics are not supposed to be a grind I think you missed all those dev interviews and posts where they made it very clear that cosmetics such as dungeon gear and legendays would be the grind. Not the gear itsself. And that is exactly how they made it. Gear easy, the exact look you want not so fast to get.
Aggro is partly damage, partly sight and very much partly distance…so yes if a player runs through your pet they could possibly deposit the mob on the pet. This is not a pet issue but just how they made aggro work in general.
Not sure what you mean about your pet dieing to 2 regular mobs at 80 unless you are full beastmaster. I have 10 points in beastmater and my pet can usually hold off 2-3 silver mobs at same time let alone regular ones.
No I do not like this idea at all.

Unless each member of the team has completed the story mode first, they will not be able to enter for the exploration mode.
False you only need 1 person to have completed it. The person who enters fisrt.
I see tons of posts about orange gear costs. What I would like to point out is most people I have grouped with…once they hit 80 take about 2 weeks to get fully decked out in all orange gear (except breather and spine)
I do not see how hardcore players taking 2 weeks to fully gear out in max everything, is too much of a grind. I mean a causal player of equil skill who only plays 1/3 as much will be able to do it in 6 weeks.
I understand you hit 80 and want to have the best gear. Just work at it alittle bit. It really doesn’t take that long. You can craft oranges at a rate of about 1 per 2hrs just by farming up the mats, you can get them from dungeons from about 6-10 runs per piece, you can get them from karma vendors for 42K, you can get them from event chests, you can get them from map completion, you can get them from the forge, you can even get them from the AH. It truely is not a grind all in 1 place unless you choose to make it that way. Go get HoW gloves, CoF boots, karma chest, explorer helm, craft you self a piece or 2, and maybe get a weapon from AC. You do NOT need to get every single piece from the same single spot. Once you have all your top end gear you can then slowly work tword a matching set if you want.

They easy way, wear good stats from whereever then xmute the skins you want on top.
Bears with the right ranger spec can tank pretty much anything a player can tank. IE there are some bosses that noone should be trying to tank. Pets still tank fine at 80 if you know what you are doing and specced in a way to allow them to.
I do at least double if not triple the damage of my pet. Its fine the way it is.
You do NOT need to do the story first. As long as someone in your group has done it they can open explorer for you.
They made yellows for causals and those of low skill. They allow you to get within about 10% of max power with ease. They made dungeons for those willing to put in the time and effort for unique skinned oranges. And just so causals would not feel weaker they put in crafting and orange karma gear so even the most unskilled and time constricted player can eventually be all orange.
Yes agree 100%, we run like we are a heavy plate armored class instead of a light armored class.
We wear medium armor not light….
There are no raids! Also more people is not more complicated and harder. In 99% of games a raid needs 1 tank 1 healer 1 dps and mage that know what they are doing called officers. Everyone else just needs to be in vent and listen. There is nothing more noob friendly than large raids where you just listen and everything will go great. With 5 people they can’t carry someone’s dead weight which is perfect. With the limit of 5 each person has to do their job…the way it should be.
It takes about 30min to grind out a level. A dungeon takes 15+ min and gives about half a level…this seems just about right.
Last time I was there I was scarred for life. There is only one waypoint for almost the entire dungeon on the route I was in, there are a few dungeons like this (main culprit being Twilight Arbor). It is not fun to run for 4min everytime you die, it artificially lengthens the dungeon run with no added difficulty or content.
Don’t die? There all better… I mean path 2 and 3 are super easy just kite it all til it dies. No reason to be dieing at all.
Yep dungeons are a method of getting oranges. You really should be at least all yellow in your party when you go in. Blues and greens will make them very hard.
I’ve looked on 3 separate days during peak hours, and I’ve never been able to find a group at this dungeon entrance. Is there something wrong with this dungeon? Or do people just not find this dungeon interesting or too hard?
I have done Honor of the waves so many times I have both the pants for like 300 tokens and almost enough tokens saves up for the gift (500). So yes people do run this.
Yes they are for skilled causals…IE they are short in time needed, but high on skill needed. IE skilled causals are perfect for them. They are NOT for unskilled causals.

Kicked someone near the very end and got the instance reset now that is funny. I like that.
The orr zones are not lacking in events. Start up some of the statue chains.
repair costs is not even a problem, since each dungeon reward you with 26 silver so everyone can just corpse run all they want.it’s is not exciting or rewarding seeing people play like this.
Die 10 times and you have no profit. Die 11 times and you actually lose money.

I’m not saying rangers aren’t doing well in dungeons, what I am saying is that rangers as a class can’t support to be a viable part of a dungeon compared to the other classes and I was suggesting ways to improve it. I don’t see how what you wrote was relevant to the post.
Also, this isn’t only about dungeons but about improving a whole trait line and making the ranger more versatile.
And I’m interested in seeing you complete a dungeon with 3 rangers, perhaps you could post a video of you doing this?
I don’t have a video but just to make sure I rememebered right I did it again on wends night this week on purpose this time (3 rangers). The other 2 people were a ele and a guardian. We did the following on explorer, HoW, TA, CoF, CoE… CoE was a bit rough but we got through without too much trouble. The other 3 were all no issue.
One had the skill to have sigs effect both them and the pet, one was a full beastmaster, and one was nature survival.

You can already craft level 80 oranges…the max level gear in the game…how much stronger could the gear get?
I did CoE and I must say the camera shaking in story was annoying…and the laser trap on the sub explorer was not fun, not hard, just not fun at all.

I have done all but 1 of them. And while some need to be a bit easier some also need to be harder. Most are just about right.
People need to stop walking into dungeons that give tokens for orange 80 gear in all green/blue gear

TA…The story mode is actually harder than the explorer mode. Please adjust story mode for this one. Explorer mode seems ok.

CoE…This is doable but its defiantly one of the rough ones for a random group. That laser trap is just annoying…I mean take off your armor and take 10 trys at it til you get it, that is not fun just annoying. And in the story mode the camera shaking all the time… in my group some people thought they were going to get sick from all the shaking of the camera.
Arah…Spider cave is a pain in the butt please change that, the rest of it was fun.
AC…This is the 1st dungeon most people will see, yet IMO this is the hardest dungeon in the game right now. The first dungeon people see should not be the hardest! The scorpion wire guy while beatable is not fun and neither is regrouping when someone drops because they can’t figure out how to dodge the insta-death attack.
I can not fairly rate CM right now because I have not set foot in there yet. I will hit it some time this week.
To be fair overall I really like the dungeons and love running them. As for class balance so far I have been able to run everything by just going down my friends list and taking the first 4 that want to go no matter their class. I really like that about this game. Every class brings something to the table and as long as you know how to play you can help the team. Thank you for making it so any class can go to any dungeon!
All I ask is that you look at some of the dungeons as some are too easy, some are too hard, and some have a boss or trap in them that is just not fun. We are all here for fun so the not fun should be addressed.

Ranger with perm stow pet is already in game its called a warrior.
Rangers work well in dungeons…very well. In fact I have done almost every no-bugged path of almost every dungeon and rangers do well in all of them. Some of my groups have had as many as 3 rangers in them. In fact every class works in these explorer dungeons. I just go down my friends list and invite the first 4 that want to do the dungeon no matter what class they are and have never had an issue.
oh so you use the materials that you would have used to make an exotic wep?
ie for bow would i use 5x ancient shortbow stave and 5x hard strings?

The problem comes from how the materials quickly outlevel your crafting; it’s why Jute and Copper go for so much. Really, in a game with such an in-depth crafting system there really shouldn’t be random drops of Greens or below
If you want to make crafting better make it so there are no random drops of green or higher
You can get like 15sp per wvw reset. You can also get 1 skill point per level and at 80 explorer dungeons give you like .6 levels per run.
Also press M to see how many skill points of the normal type you have not done yet.
doesnt work that way but this is how you make a mystic orange weapon
Your take the 2 main parts to make a level 400 weapon of your choice and put 5x of part 1 and 5x of part 2 and 30 coin and 1 scroll in the forage and out comes your mystic weapon.
Places to look, the dungeon vendors in LA each has 3 sets of stat combos, the karma vendors in orr…there are 5 of them, the 5 or 6 craftable sets, the 2 sets from 100% zone compeltion, etc
you take 5 of part 1 of the max level weapon with 5 of part 2 of the weapon stick it in the forge with 30 coins and a scroll and poof a mystic orange weapon …not what you ment i am sure but that is how I crafted my shortbow
Also my 400 craft vendor sells level 400 karma recipies. Also there are alot of discoverable 400 crafts

I personally hate it when the tank dies, gets out to heal, … and while someone takes aggro to tank or kite the boss my pet dies because of the aggro he generated.
I personally love getting any 4 people together that play well no matter the class and running through explorer with no problem. As long as you can kite and have pets any class group can do explorer with no problem. Did 3 different dungeons on explorer last night with me (ranger) 2 eles and 2 mesmers…no tank in site and no wipes at all in any of the dungeons.

CoF dungeon entrance has to be opened almost every run. Every time I open it I get like 50 butter in 6min.
Please please remove the butter from those bags, used to valuable stuff from them
I realize the bear is a tank pet, but if you are forced to carry 2 of them all time in dungeons thats useless. The pets are suppose to offer options if used at the right time.
And just so you know the bears don’t last that long in boss fights either, so yeah the boss has to down 2 bears instead of one.
I have done about 500 tokens worth of Honor of waves and about 500 worth of CoF and some Twilight, some AC, and some Arah…9 out of 10 boss fights my pets do not go down quick at all and do a very good job. So other than the scorpian wire guy in AC which bosses were you thinking you could not keep pets alive on?
