HotW is fun I like it better than any other. I like all 3 paths. I would like for them to fix a couple bugs that occasionally pop up but other than that I like it . Path 2s 2nd boss with the 2 pet quaggans is my favorite boss fight. I love having people kill the boss while running for their life from the 2 pets. It makes if fun, entertaining and more than just a boring dps fest. With a good group not a single person will die even once…yet it you have to actually try. Its a nice feeling.
@Fluffycalico – except for you can’t do 4 runs an hour. With the fact that you will very likely have to wait for the events to unlock the door to CoF (a solid 20-25 minutes if the npc hasn’t spawned) you’re likely only to get 2 runs an hour, 3 if you are lucky and you get out while the bridge defend event is happening.
For like a week straight on my server I never saw that dungeon either not open or at least with the bridge fight going on. Maybe it was differnt on your server but there were like 800 people farming it on mine.
The only solution is not really a solution as it breaks their plan.
The solution would be to have T2 or T3 dungeons that are much much harder, but then people would expect better gear from them and the plan is all oranges are max gear.
The people who speed-ran CoF and got their dungeon armor in 2.5-3 hours are now whining that the rest of us will have a chance to get our armors in fewer, but more time-consuming, dungeon trips? lolwut? Seriously, at the end of the day, you will still have earned more gold and obtained your armor faster than after this change is implemented. Anet introduced lowered gold rewards and reduced drop rates to discourage speed running. In order to balance that for players coming up now, they need to adjust the drop tables for tokens. The early runners do still have the advantage though of having obtained dungeon armors in 15-20 short, quick, efficient runs. Everyone else will have to take long arduous journeys. Increasing the token rates eases that sting just a bit. (Making one universal “dungeon token” currency would be even better, but I don’t see that happening.)
Unless I’m missing something no one got their gear in “2.5-3 hours”. I do remember hearing that there was an exploit that allowed people to complete CoF in 1-2 minutes but I honestly don’t think that many people used it if it was actually there. I have full CoF set and it took closer to 40 hours and that was before all the buffs and that was doing 15-20 minute runs.
Still, as I said on the previous page it doesn’t bother me in the slightest that they will start giving out more tokens and people will get their armor more quickly. Because in the future should I choose to getting some fancy looking armor for an alt won’t be nearly as tedious.
Before I read that they were going to adjust token rewards I would never have considered going for another set of dungeon armor for alts or alternative stat combinations for my warrior, crafted or karma all the way. But now I think I might, after they adjust rewards that is.
4 runs an hr x40hrs x20 tokens=3200 tokens +10 for the first one you did each of say 5 days =3250 tokens It doesn’t cost that many for a set of armor

Every explorable can be done by any class. Just put 5 people in a dungeon that know how to play well and play together and the rest takes care of itself.
Strat is same for every path
1) take off all armor for laser trap then try til 3 get it done.
2) 3 fights with alpha…stay out of his red circles and in the end fight kill the essances
other than that you have 1 robot with buff turets to kill (take out regen first) and you either have a kite for x seconds fight or a 5 layer security disable which is noting more than kill the big ones kite the rest while someone communes with the computer 5 times.
There is nothing really hard about this dungeon other than learning to stay out of alphas red circles as he has so many of them and they are so large.
I have completed it on every path and never had a group fail this dungeon yet.
I would assume the reason you found it to be so easy is because those groups were doing things that are KNOWN as -very- easy pathways in explorable.

you may have two sigils equipped because your dual wielding but you will only get the benifit from one.
Depends on the sigils you equip. Your statement is partially true but not fully.
In beginner gear groups don’t have the damage/healing output to kill these waves as they are all silver mobs. .
They have said many times explorer dungeons are not for pug beginner groups. They are where experienced groups are supposed to go for nice cosmetics when they have good gear.
1) Are you doing dungeons or general pve or wvw or structured?
2) What weapon and skills are you using?
The above questions make all the difference in the world to weather or not you should stack condition damage.
I can only find rangers for TA, me myself a ranger too, and i cant use my ele or guard bcs i need the tokens for ranger, it feels so limited. And yeah my friends wantit for achievemnt but dont want to run it again bcs they dont need the tokens bcs they arent rangers.
In GW1 i went DoA with mesmer one day, with ele the other day, and i wasnt punnished for it.
I got around 300 TA tokens now, more than half of the runs was 5 ranger group.
Sorry about your luck that sounds annoying. I usually invite 4 friends to “dungeon runs” and we go get our daily 30 tokens from 4-5 of them without even changing the group out. Sometimes we might have to replace someone after about 2-3 of them.
to ppl who want tokens soulbound: you really think its fun running TA with 5 rangers several times a day? I HATE IT. While GW1 rewarded you for diversity, and the more characters you had and played the better. GW2 goes: TA ranger only dung, AC war dung etc…
You need to make tokens account bound, removing the most beautiful thing about GW1 was definitely a misstep.
I run both those dungeons with whoever wants to join from friends list and have no issue. In fact TA is probably one of the easiest dungeons we have left after HotW. I have not needed to take a planned class into any dungeon in this game.
So I have racked up enough tokens to get all my gear, and have well over 1000 tokens sitting in my bank from various dungeons and I have never once run into this issue you speak of where a certain class is needed for a certain dungeon.

Completely screws over people who ran the dungeons instead of crying about them. As even though you know how many times each person ran them bet you won’t be giving back tokens out to us. Teaches everyone in the forum don’t do the content just whine and cry about it then once its changed do it. Seriously being able to get a piece a day of the special dungeon gear is not a grind…You already have tons of people completely geared out in everything just weeks after launch and you want to make it even quicker?

Yes intentionally only runinng part of it over and over, with no intention of finishing it, doing it as it was NOT intended to be done…pretty much every MMO puts things in place to stop this. Some even go so far as to put 3 day reset timers on the dungeons so once you down the first boss it stays down for days…
They moved most the token from the beginning to the end to stop the exploit. You still get 30 for a full run just like you did before. You just can’t half run exploit anymore
Don’t get mad at anet because your
“friend” is using a farming exploit they have already made changes to slow people from wanting to do. The full run still gives 30. Do the full run like you planned and nothing has changed at all.
And 300 tokens per dagger is only 10 runs for that cool skin you want on a dagger. Then mabye get the 2nd one some place else…and with 3 paths that means you do each one 3 times and you are only 1 run left from your dagger

Actually dungeon armor is free. You don’t pay any gold for it. Just valuless tokens

I ran story mode with all level 30-32s the first weekend with just the only other people the right level range. Was not an issue. Also ran it 2 times n beta in the 30s with whoever was around again no issue.

Well at 80 its 8 insignia instead of 6 which is 33% more… and has already been confirmed as something they are looking into.
Best advise, pick 2-3 stats that mean alot to your playstyle and get alot of them. Then make sure you get at least some of all the other stats. If you leave out the offstats you will run into dugeons or people in pvp that will make you wish you didn’t.

Since the bags cost 33% more to craft than everything inside them put together I find this to be the lesser of the problems as currently there is 0 reason to ever craft a bag of gear ever
LOL pugs in GW1 you could take in all heros and do just fine.
Basically very few people can actually craft using those right now and lots of people are just farming the crap out of them. End up with a value crash. Bots do have an effect but I’d imagine it to be rather small as of now.
Actually more to the point I have full oranges, I have 0 use for them now til I make a legenday…so they all get sold beyond the 250 I can hold in the bank
Many people hate dungeon finders because it finds you a pug…these dungeons are not ment for pugs so finding you a pug would not be helpful. Join a guild add friends to your friends list!
General note for all dungeons… If you see a spider boss do not use CC on it
Actaully the only expensive things in the game are things that go tword making legendary weapons. Basic exotics are dirt cheap…cheaper than even race or faction yellows! Oh and the runes to make 20 slots bags lol.
So expensive things are things to make legendays and vendor items with price set by Anet. Thats it.

But seriously I want the GW1 pets you know that you raise high dps or extra healthy that are big as a house at max level.

Somehow I get the sence they are telling us to exploit the heck out of something then report it to get a thanks and getout of the ban you should get for exploiting it in the first place.

I have run all 3 paths on explorer and my group has finished every one of them on the first try and every time since. We have not ever failed to finish this dungeon.
There is nothing complex about them. They are dumbed down. Everyone fulfills the same role, and you just run around and spam your DPS…trying not to stand on the highlighted circles on the ground and dodging the one shot ability spam.
We don’t even have classes anymore, most of the time people can run through dungeons and not even say a word to each other. It’s understood there is going to be some random dying to one shotting and spam. And all you do is respawn and do it again.
You pugging it? You shouldn’t be ‘counting on dying’ if you want your team to make any money from the run, and classes definitely don’t fulfill the same roles. Interrupts, vulnerability, aoe etc. is all done differently by each class…
There is a reason you can interrupt nearly any boss in the game given players coordinating their cycling.
There is also a reason there are plenty of boss skills that can’t be interrupted by any class as it would make them trivial.
Dungeons are very fun. All of them can be done by any 5 players with good gear who know how to play their class well. I invite the first 4 on my friends list and say what one do we want to start with and 3-4 dungeons later still no problems.
Stop trying to shortcut things. Gear up, learn your class, then do explorer.
So they said play more of the game than the single easiest path of the single most simple dungeon instead of grinding that one thing over and over and everyone goes nooo and screams and crys they want their 1 super easy grind back instead of going out and doing more than just that 1 thing.

OP, you are part of the minority because you fail to see how this update is making the game unbearable.
No one wants to go into a dungeon to spend 2-6 or more silver on repairs, 1-3 hours of hard work, and countless deaths just for a reward of 80copper-1silver.
You now lose money when you run a dungeon.

I rememeber farming for days to get the mats for food and potion to be able to do endgame dungeons…Most high end raid guilds you have to farm for the stuff to be able to do the dugeons. So yes quite often you do loose money in dungeons for the right to get the gear you want.
Killing if I rememeber right 1.2 million of a certan level 60 mob to get the rep for the purple cat mount is definately a grind…WoW had 100s of grinds that literally required farming over 500,000 of a mob and you really want to compare that to running a dungeon 10 times for a piece of gear? Wow also was the king of 3 pieces from the end boss for 40 people to split. Even with 100% no overlaps no unnneeded drops etc you would still need 14 runs to get what you want. Add in overlaps and unneded drops and more like 100 runs. By those wow standards even the legenday weapons are not much of a grind…
Really you did heart quests to 80? There are so many things wrong with just that 1 statement not sure where to start.
The game was fun, the game still is fun. I guess they did it right
Jon… the difficulty of CoF explorable before the buff is what we find fun. Everything else is just frustrating and annoying.
Please change we to I as there were plenty of people who hated the joke called cof #2
Gear has little to nothing to say in GW2 though. lvl80 greens vs Exotics are only seperated by a small amount of stats. Upgrades for me are usually 1-5 in 3 stats making the overall difference maybe 100 for stats that are already in the thousand range.
Sorry to burst your bubble but yellows are about 13% better than greens and oranges are 13% better than yellows. So yes their is a huge huge difference between all green and all orange.
There is also realitive hard. What is hard for somoene in greens is cake for someone geared well…What is hard for a pug is easy for guild with vent the list goes on
I know some people won’t like what I do, but my vote is make a 3rd dungeon mode where its much much harder, gives 60 tokens and 1G for finishing.
