The engineer stealth does have a counter look for the drone its actually a double edged sword you will know where he is but you dont know how many he has with him
Hmm not sure our drones will be able to be killed in the normal sense. I mean what would the purpose be of having too micro manage 2 health bars fuel and normal health? They are pretty much the same thing. The idea I have is they actually are invincible but can be hit with condis to slow them blind them you can knock them back all the norm, but what when they mentioned destroyed I think its through other means like transforms if you get moaed boom they all explode. That new trait might actually be a way to punish being transformed and imagine if elixer x detonates them on transformation?

As a charr i detest it. Beeing a scrapper (and its indeed originating from the charr scrappers) is a punishment for beeing consistently insubordinate, unreliable, or troublesome and there is zero respect for a scrapper in the legions. A scrapper is seen as an untrustworthy troublemaker…and last time i checked i was an iron legion centurio and commander of the pact aswell high ranked member of an order and sort of a big deal all arround. Beeing a scrapper is basically the opposide of that and its quite a big punch under the belt line to be fully honest.

Someone on Reddit has something real interesting to say about it from a lore perspective. I’m not into RP, but I found this to be a good point of view and if this came from Anet and not just the author’s own ideas that’s a pretty dynamic way to evolve the lore in game.

At this point I’m convinced you’re just trolling lol. There’s no way people take the name of a skill tree this seriously, even if you are a role player. Them naming the Specialization line -Scrapper- means what to your character? Nothing. You taking that line has no significant meaning on your role played character. You can still be a “Centurion-Mega-Avatar of Knightly Magnificence-Brightest Jewel of Tyria” from the Iron Legion.
in fact i DO take this seriosly. I might be alone on this one.. but i sorta kinda hoped for some form of dignity for the engi class for once. A name thats sorta kitten …like chronomancer, reaper, berserker effin druid i mean they are perfectly fitting. Heck even dragon hunter is better. They clearly give of the feel the class advanced towards something awesome. A time bender, a hellish scythe swinging master of the dead, a very angry dude that twists your arms out of your joints and lights himself on fire and so on… and what does engi get? A scrap collector…yea… wouldnt want anything that says “yeap i surely do have advanced my craft” Instead of advancing the materials and technology(maybe even on the level of pact technology cause that would make sence given that the pact joined forces and sorta use now stuff designed with elements from all races) the engineer works with to do his stuff he starts using junk and names himself after one of the lowest ranks of the charr army? Yay? Hype? Hell no. You got no idea how often the nope meter broke on this one for me.
Why not Besieger? Forgemaster? Machinist? Pioneer? Constructor? Demolisher? Metallurgist like hinted in the PS with taimi? Mechanic? Handyman? Inventor? Anything thats not so degrading and in my opinion just a kick into the gears.

I am sure its not just gonna be a ele copy even just some animation changes could make it engineer like. Mabye you charge your hammer during the initial cast animation and throw it too the location that electrifies the area then pull it back too you with magnets or something.
Indeed would be acceptable if that is the case. I’ll hold onto that complaint until friday then.
I am sure there will be upsets and some amazing things too the spec with less testing time than almost all the other specs it just means were going to have to really put out our thoughts about the spec in as much detail as we can and engineers players are pretty good at nit picking and coming up with some balanced changes.

I’m on board for a Mad Max themed elite spec, was also always a fan of the Fallout theme too.
I mean I really like the theme I have no problem with it at all. I also don’t care much about the name we coulda been named something like Gizmo or Junker or something doesnt matter as long as the traits and weapon/utilities work I got a good feeling it will be fun. Only thing I am worried about is the life of the drones and how long we can keep one out.

Passive condi removal is something the engineer could really make use of outside of elixer builds now mix the elixers with it and well maby throw an E-gun in there and were gonna have some nice condi transmute/removal as well as some amazing mobility with our hammer

I have spent over 5k gold for my engineers hammer.. I made an ascended zerk hammer for off builds I made the juggernaut just for the stat swapping and I bought mjolnir to cover the juggernaut skin I am ready.
they need to bring the aetherized skins back tough….
I agree had the chance too buy the hammer, but I ended up going flashy and bought mjolnir instead. Kinda wish there was a jet engine style hammer skin now that would be pretty sweet.

I don’t think this fits the theme of the skill. It is impactful power, not some random poison. But I would like to see that each mine is ripping 1 boon from every single target. So they are removing aoe, not only one boon.-make waterfield of cleaning burst and regeneration mist last longer
against it, the last healing skill which needs improvement is healing turret. Just fix the bug which doesn’t recharge cleaning burst with amr, that’s enough-make elixir r a stun breaker
it used to be one and they removed it. I don’t mind, it’s ok, but they should fix the issue that elixir u is interrupting your action while using it. no other skill with 0 cast time does something like that-reduce rate of fire on turrets

why should it? it is direct damage and how is a ram tormenting you? i want torment too, just add it to shrapnel trait instead of bleeding. makes more sense.-make advanced turret be like ring of warding

remove icd is fine, but don’t increase healing. I would say it would be fair to decrease the healing. Without ICD the trait would be REALLY strong. Don’t push it too far.
Actually for battering ram I think a chunk of vulnerability would make the most sense I mean your getting hit with a mini version of something made to break down gates.
As for medical dispersion field I think it should be based off your healing power idk the percent not good with the numbers, but make it pulse healing based on that number every 3 seconds too a certain area around you, healing yourself and your team mates would have great use for self sustain and some slight heals out too your team to counter a bit of condi damage I think. I feel something around 400 or 500 every 3 seconds wouldnt be too op and if you take healing power it might be worth a grandmaster.
So we all think that Engi needs some improvements, so lets give A-Net our ideas
Here are mine:
- fix the bugs
- make toss elixir b a stunbreaker
- reduce cooldown of gadgets
- minefield not only should remove 1 condition, it should convert one boon to one random condtion
- make Waterfield of Cleaning Burst and Regeneration Mist last longer
- make Elixir R a stun breaker and Toss Elixir R remove all condtions not only one (it has a 100sec reusetimer it must be worth it)
- reduce the rate of fire on turrets, all turret -1 sec besides net turret
- make rocket boots grant stability while flying
- make Mortar field pulse damage not just the condition
- make turrets be movable, like the revenant can move his tablet
- make turrets damage reduction higher and let them do more damage
- make experimental Turrets pulse boons like the revenant elite spec or reduce the puls interval
- give throw mine a larger radius of 300
- let us use skills when activate elixir S (warrior also can do it in there immunity)
- let launch personal battering ram cause torment
- make advanced turret not only reflect missiles let it be like the hammer skill of the guardian (Ring of Warding) with an icd (60sec).
- medical dispersion field remove icd and increase the healing on 20%Just some thoughts, post yours in here so we get ideas for the devs
Some of these ideas are ok, but some are asking a bit too much
Toss elixer b- This is more an ability to counter being stunned if it became a stun break and grant stab it would be pretty op actually considering you can get this one a 16 sec cd.
Gadgets- The trait should give us a 25% cd reduction baseline and give us a 50% cd if the gadget was overcharged also changing the charges too stack too 25 and stacks when you deal damage not when you get hit.
Healing turret is fine more than fine
Mine- The toolbelt should be instant cast smaller radius that the mines spread this would make it amazing for instant burst/ Mine itself I think would be better if it was changed to a blowout that launches them in the air or backwards as well as both applying bleeds for condi usage
Rocket boots- This could actually use an evade but i would love too see the ability actually have a decent damage portion on both toolbelt and utility making them both targeted leaps 600 range with burning on toolbelt and heavy burst on landing for the utility
Elixer C- Should grant resistance for 1 or 2 sec per condition converted on both toolbelt and utility
Turrets- need a rework I wouldnt mind if they were kinda squishy as long as some cds were reduced and they could scale with stats and crit also changing the overcharges on some to require more player interaction like target area for rocket turret for a aoe of small missiles that lasts for like 3-4 sec things like that.
A.E.D- I am going too throw this out again. Cd reduced too 30 sec base heal of 5k the on death heal will instantly heal for 5k then regen 5k over 5 sec before healing power. Overcharge should Heal you for a bit more not much and convert a condition too a boon per pulse.
Static shock- W/e the toolbelt is the damage is great the range and clunkyness not so much change this too a pbaoe 240 instant change the stun too a daze or increase its range too 900 keep it single target.
Thats all i got for now..
Speculations? That it will be the second least play tested, after the druid, and consequently have the second to least BWEs and QA done before launch and will be a wreck.
And what were we missing that we needed hammer? We have the ‘Toolkit’ which is defencive melee. It’s just that turrets have been weak and only made weaker such that it isn’t worth it to use it, even traited, for the turret repair side of the kit.
They could have given us anything- Staff, with a melee auto attack and some techno based ranged enhancements for Two-five.
One- Auto attack with the ability to apply vulnerability as well as repair turrets and mecha.
Two- a spark attack similar to Elementalist air attunement staff two.
Three a temporary cloaking device similar to Ranger Long bow Three.
Four- a magnet beam running opposite to Ranger longbow four.
Five- an oil field which functions as an oil slick, but which players using fire attacks are able to ignite to turn into a fire field.
Then take a page from the Asura legendary abilities and the mecha boss from Sorrow’s embrace and give us three models of permanent non AI Robots(ala ranger pets) to choose from which are racially modified.
A ranged attack defence bot, a pbaoe condition bot, and a melee monster offence bot.
Asura get their line of Golems.
Char get gear bladed mecha similar to the fractal boss in aesthetics.
Humans get Watchwork automatons.
And Sylvari get minions similar to Scarlet’s steam minions.
Call them ‘Techromancers’ or ‘Golemancers’ and have done.
Well engineer actually lacked the ability too really brawl with sustained dps and survival as well as our mobility outside of rifle, boots, e-gun, is pretty bad. The rifle is too hybrid ranged/melee and is pretty clunky. This should also open up some chances to frontline in wvw.
One Idea I had to keep it different but still useful is have it be a pbaoe pulsing every second or every few seconds Have it scale oh lets see off about 15-20% of your healing power and constantly pulse an aoe heal too yourself and others around you. No other function thats it just good group and self regen for decent amount.
I didnt see many problems with reaper it was solid when i played it. On that note though
gs3 needs a larger cone and 450 range to make it worth using in the rotation as of now you can just slap on blighters boon and not have too worry much about life force generation. Shroud 2 I think can be increased too 900 range without being op as a gap closer its not all that great atm I just use it for the projectile destruction. I just wana say shroud 4 hits like a truck even though its 3 sec I was getting 16-20k aoes in a pug group. I really enjoyed my reaper over the weekend especially the part where I soloed two champs and mobs with a full zerk reaper on arah path 4.
Oh yeah you will prob have to get one off ebay I paid 100 bucks for my signed hardback copy totally worth.

My main is an engineer and if you need help I am always willing to show ingame my own combos and setups for new engineer players. I also have a decent understanding of other classes and what works and what doesn’t work vs them.
If I made a guess it would follow the same pattern as the reaper/berserker so
Brawler line
Condition line
Support/survival line
Seems too be the pattern so the weapon doesn’t limit you towards one style of play and condi/power/support will work with all our different kits in different ways could be a hammer engi that tanks and soaks up damage by using elixer gun and mortar kit fields, gadgets might offer use some cc and locking down single targets so our hammer can get the max burst, condi line might work well with elixers and fire fields for burning who knows.
So here is an idea for a simple elite gadget and a small change to gadgeteer to make it more useful
Gadgeteer: make the 25% cd baseline normally and 50% reduced cd if your gadget was overcharged this could slightly buff our gadgets to be used a bit more for fast pace combos.
Activate Everything!: Elite gadget activates 10 sec of superpeed activates utility goggles and AED this gadget can be effected by gadgeteer cd reduction and overcharge cd 120 sec also a stunbreak
Simple I know not very flashy, but I think it could be great for gadget builds as a slight power up during combat for gadget builds or any other build.
Forgot to add my idea for an AED rework
AED: Increase the base heal to 5k and remove 1 condition. The on death effect heal reduced too 10k 5k of the heal is upfront with 5k regenerated over 5 sec at the end of the 5 sec regen it clears 3 conditions reduce cd to 30 sec with the gadgeteer idea this could end up being used a lot more often with a bit less of a burst heal but a good alternative condi cleanser and decent healing over time.

Too much grind for me if they follow the same recipe of current legendaries…. Maybe if they had better stats but I don’t need to change stats, ever.
Hmm well imagine this. Say you are in a raid and your group has perfectly used its blocks dodges and blinds to evade a bosses damage, but he has an ability that cannot be dodged invul or blinded and will do damage no matter what and you die in one hit because you didn’t have the minimum amount of vitality or toughness to counter it to keep you alive. Now if it was because you didn’t have the required gear with you wouldn’t you think it would be cool to change stats on the fly too give you that slight boost in a stat needed to complete the encounter?

So an idea here is since we rely on kits a lot what if the elite spec gave us utilities that could stand on par with kits? not in terms of abilities, but in usefulness and constant buffs I can honestly see the drones being signets of some type so we get a strong passive an on use and a toolbelt too match. We might even get a resource added like heat or something that while active passive effects or toolbelt skills damage/effects are doubled or just increased for short bursts? Would be kinda cool..
I would like the bots if
1: Traits generated them on crits dodges or utility skills
2: Line to trait them for heavy burst and condi application or healing explosions
3: Constant upkeep of drones none of this summon 2 and have 50 sec in between
I can see the drones end up acting like a steampunk style of mesmer perhaps giving us different types of detonations on our toolbelt replacing our current utility too toolbelt match up. As long as every utility works with spawning drones this could work pretty nice and the hammer could let us keep the pressure on them so our drone combos would be more effective.

Well the say I see it is bunker down is still better healing all around and dps and stealth detector, but the current version of elixer infused bombs would force you into bomb kit. I think it should just be renamed elixer infused explosives and cause all explosion blast type skills too heal.
Then it will just be used with grenades for safer range and triple the proc effectiveness, like every other explosion trait.
I am sure there would be a way to keep it from proccing more than once an attack but and making it only heal in the explosion area meaning you would also have to target on top of yourself

The idea for the actual trait being discussed though is that I still think it should be a pulsing aoe regen for a % of your healing power this way you can choose a larger sustain with bunker down or a more constant group support and self healing through Medical dispersion.
Why not just make the trait a passive regen of health equal to 5% of your healing power or something? or 8% something so its not awful healing. I also think it should just be a regen aura to allies within 600 or so mabye less. The trait would work perfectly with the 250 healing increase while under regen and give a good alternative too bunker down.

I really think diamond skin should only work vs damaging conditions chill cripple immob weakness should still work at least it gives some counter play for condi builds to keep the ele from hitting as hard or being able to get away from your team mates. I forgot about vuln and slow as well Slow would end up being a perfect counter too them even if its for a short time because it would mess up the rotation timing.
I doubt we will get a slow weapon it wouldn’t fit engi play style in melee considering it will prob require faster reaction time in that situation to really stay alive. I can see it being actually the same as other twohanders. I would like to see the hammer becoming a mobility weapon rather than a cc weapon though.
Why not just buff everyone else up to the ele’s and mesmer level? revert some nerfs that were made buff other classes trait healing capability increase other classes duration of protection and defensive cds? Just don’t touch ele or mesmer and we can see how that works out?
Would be nice bunker down would quickly make you extremely hard to kill since each medkit gives you and allies regen i say put it in game id like this for my engi
well engineer got a “bug fiix” on automated response so glad they finally fixed the mesmer mantra bug as well very fair!
Are you sure thats not a warrior face tanking rapid fire from a ranger?
i call this skill ‘pray for rampage’. however my prayers are often no heard. tornado can be decent in some situations, but nothing rampage couldn’t accomplish.
plus engineer doesn’t have peak performance so it’s rampage isn’t so scary.
Its actually even more scary if you use it after you get a ton of might stacks from hgh getting 6k crits very often and using elixer U right before i activate elixer X grants me almost 10 sec of quickness to destroy people
For some reason it seems like the spec will be power based but more so of like a hunter. I can see the drones just there for targeting buffs and dps boosts, but the engineer its self might end up being like a predator with no cloak or mabye we will get a cloaking drone? oh that would be saweeet

Bear bow ranger fight will cast rapid fire every 8 sec with pierce if 10% of max health is done within 20 sec will activate signet of stone 20 sec cd also jumps on top of any wall ledge etc.. within the area and spam rapid fire for 15 sec straight.
Well once the bug is fixed grenadier should be fine the velocity increase wouldnt be a big deal if it cant pierce.
1:Roll Engi
2: Trait Lock on
3: stand still
4:Spam bombkit 1 or if he decides to go range spam rifle 1
5: dont forget to trait all passive procs possible
I think the 1 skill needs to be pbaoe that way you can benefit from your own healing and not have to rely on a cone that misses quiet often.
I still think we should be able to store up to 25 charges that way were not limited to just overcharging one gadget at a time as well as bringing back the old 50% cd reduction would make it so much better I still think upgrades could be made
Battering ram: Launch increased and knockback anyone in the path of the person being knocked back or make it an aoe cone knockback
Mine: increased radius and becomes a spider mine that charges your target
AED: I am actually liking this one though would like if it cleared confusion as well and increase toolbelt too 600 range the current one just misses so much even if the target is right next to you.

heres what you do revert the damage nerf change to AA on mortar reduce the fields damage on impact by half or drop it by close to 80% this way the fields dont have close the same burst but the AA will still be strong.
