Idea to nerf slick shoes

Well I wouldnt mind a slight slick shoes nerf, but the rest of the gadgets really need some love.
1:battering ram is pretty bad the toolbelt damage doesnt even come close to just having toolkit throw wrench on your bar.
2: Rocket boots is fun, without some kind of evade at the end you just end up getting caught again as for the toolbelt 300 range is pitiful for a rocket style kick
3: Goggles these are actually not bad, but having to use a stunbreaker as a dps boost sucks toolbelt for it is fine though
4:Mine this ability should have charges like 3 uses then goes on full cd remove the boon strip from the main gadget or do something like toolbelt dispenses mines for a short time around you
5:A.E.D toolbelt should be a pbaoe 240 blast no cast time the gadget itself needs a lower cd and redesigned id like to see it be a gadget that converts damage into healing like 10% damage or something idk with a on use heal for an ok amount and recharges your other gadgets.

Not at all. These skills can be made viable by nerfing the other skills which are so OP that they keep these skills down (even though they are often good). Nerf healing turret and the other heals will look better. That is the solution. Not buffing the engis heals so everything they have is OP as kitten.

And rocket boots are amazing. Most classes would love that skill. Just because nades and slick shoes are so OP doesnt mean its bad. Nerf nades and slick shoes and things like rocket boots = become really good. Because it is really good compared to other classes. Engis have too much OP kitten.

Well just from what i have seen almost every gadget we have is clearly outdone by just using a kit. I dont see why they cant just mix our gadget cd trait and gadgeteer together and add a few more traits into the game. I have tried countless builds with mostly gadgets and they are meh, although everything I just said can be scrapped if the new specialization actually is revolved around gadget play as well as the new utilities I can see gadget hammer builds being very useful.

I kinda wish Rocket kick would be a targeted aoe skill that leaps you to the location with burst damage and burning on landing with a 600 range or so since the gadget is supposed to help with mobility it would fit.

If you like to wvw and play condition builds more than others sylvari is nice for their elite 3 sec of invulnerability backed up by around 5 seed turrets if i remember right that stack bleeds pretty fast also can hit targets at 1500 range i believe.

Well w/e anet comes up with ill be happy to see sadly coming from a wow player base from vanilla I never cared about lore at all in mmo’s only about gear and gold, but after seeing even the start of the demo I the lore has actually got me interested for the first time in any game.

cleave harder,more forceful blows considering the weapon is top heavy meaning more force is in a tighter impact spot also the ability to tear shields away by using the gap between the blade and shaft to grip the top of the shield.

Correct me if i am wrong, but doesn’t the Revenant put condis on themselves on some of the abilities imagine if they spam a bunch of those and necros use the condi clone ability to stack huge amounts of confusion and torment on people ? wouldn’t that be something.

Yepp it is frustrating that they get all those toys that should have been the necros but as mallyx revenant, i wouldnt want to fight a condition necro (or any boonhate build). Apart from resistence they have no way to deal with conditions. A good corrupt boon/dark path will destroy them.

Well, as long as they are in Mallyx yes. But a Mallyx/Jalis build can just swap to Jalis to cleanse condis with their heal.

Thats why you strip the boon or cc them until the boon falls off letting them get hit by the full burst of the condis or do both. There is a risk to applying so many condis to themselves let them stack it as much as they can and then just interrupt the hell out of them so they just tick down while flopping about. If they cant manage the condis i can see a revenant gathering to many and as soon as that boon drops of they will explode. I can also see lyssa runes becoming very popular with them or anyone else in the expac I am going to start stocking up on them.

Just because the expac hits with no new dungeons or armor skins doesn’t mean they wont add them during the living story like they have already. Just enjoy what they give us I trust if we need new dungeons or even the introduction of mabye raids Anet will have something up their sleeve.

I was kinda thinking of some hammer engineer traits and abilities trying to think of a fitting themes.
Traits:
1: Static Addict: Critical hits build up an electrical charge after acquiring 3 charges the energy is expelled outward doing x damage to mobs within a 240 Radius
2:Iron Hide: After being disabled (cc) you gain x toughness and gain stability for 5 sec with y cd
3: Cauterize: using a healing skill or Utility skill will sear off a 1 condition and burn foes for 1 sec in a 240 radius
can’t remember the utilities I thought of off the top of my head

I think the gs for necro is gonna be the problem to their power cleaving ability staff is all nice and dandy but can be clunky and bad placement is a huge dps loss as well as being mostly condis

Lol I actually agree with Slick Shoes nerf! That skill is pretty overpowdered! The single strongest lockdown ability in the game combined with one of the shortest stunbreak cooldown duration in the game that also refreshes at low health! Yeah pretty overpowdered! But the rest of the things on the list are lolz! And I’m surprised Overcharged Shot isn’t on that list! That skill single-handedly carries cele Engis!

Overcharge shouldn’t be on the list its a punishing knockback that can get you killed if you just so happen to have bad placement and leaves you completely open to enemy teammates. I think it is the most balanced cc in game

Well I was reading the forum on could be leaked info for the engineer hammer. It looked like they were thinking of using steam as a resource? Could we end up seeing a ui loadout that looks like mesmers with the steam bar where clones would be and our tool belt abilities mabye changed and amplified by how much steam we have acquired?

Am I the only one remembering mesmers get Greatsword and treat it entirely as a ranged weapon? Hence, calling the shield a tank weapon seems weird considering mesmers probably will have something different to do with shields.

As for rangers and staff, I’m curious as all heck for what that will mean.

Lastly, engineers and hammer feels weird since they’re kinda . . . well, warhammers. But I’m not an engineer, I just play one on TV.

Well being a vet and being a combat engineer in real life hammers are not weird with engineers even in modern day breaching we do have and use hammers to take down doors if the explosive doesn’t do the job.

I still think Technophile for engineer..an idea I had was instead of using buffs with drones was mabye some kind of battery charge thats generated per hit and removing the cd of our utilities instead each utility requires a certain amount of battery power to activate stronger abilities require more energy than others making it so you have to carefully manage your skills and combos as not to run out of battery power I have an entire idea for it if anyone would like me to list it.

From the video, the engineer with the drones, struck me as a minion mancer necro with robots.

The drones weren’t shooting things[nor seemed to have guns attached], so I think it might either be a skill or a mechanic. In the case of a skill, the drones would likely have a specific purpose to perform, acting as a buff to the engi or something on those lines, like maybe flying mines to crash into people. If they’re a mechanic connected to the special, they might be multipurpose resources, which is less likely.

they “smell” to me like something along the lines of what turrets do…just different if that makes sence.

Basically if you deploy them they follow you they follow you (obviosly) and give you buffs and if you nuke em they do stuff like blast finishers, short time shield bubble or heck maybe even combo fields. Imagine how usefull that would be

I guess maybe Healing Turret would become a drone as well.

maybe its like with these necro minions that you can detonate. Ya get 2 of those if ya summon them. Well lets see what they brewed together over at a-net when they go into details

I analyze the engie drones at around 3:50 of this video. It seems they might just be mines that hover around and wait to approach their targets. Or they each give special buffs just based of the fact that they all have different coloured blinky lights.

Ritualists, Shamans and the like are no “Soldiers”.. this makes no sense DaiBish.
You may not forget, that the Class that you have at the end will still be a soldier in heavy plated armor.

However, nothing of this is set in stone, I’ll rearrange names a bit under my concept in mind of each Class getting 1 Specialization per Attribute.
With Ranger being written down already above.

Here is what i could see also working for the other Professions:

Why not make it a master trait renamed with a new effect
Static Addict:
1: Toolbelt abilities fire off two charges of current static discharge
2: each time you crit you have a 50% chance to fire off current Static discharge max of 2 per 1 sec

I wish they would change bunker down the trait in a firearms trait line that is a stationary proc seems a bit odd id like to see damage reduced by maby 30% and turned into a small arty round or something that launches to your target on crit that way its not completely useless in ranged fights

So i got an idea for A.E.D
A.E.D: Give it 3 charges each healing for 3k instant cast kind of like a spinal injector 35 sec cd per charge
Static Shock: This toolbelt ability should be 240 aoe at least make it useful
Gadgeteer for A.E.D allows 1 condition transmuted to boon when you use a charge
speaking of gadgeteer should also be mixed with reduction in cd for gadgets
And ! make static discharge a master trait with a new addition to its damage 50% chance on critical to reduce the cds of your gadgets by 1 sec with a 1 sec cd allowing us to be rewarded for playing high crit builds

Quick and Dirty Fixes

OK so here is my idea on gadgeteer fixes might seem op or stupid but ill give it a shot
Mix gadgeteer and the 20% reduced cd trait as a grandmaster change gadgeteer to give passive bonuses
Utility goggles removes 2 conditions every 10 sec
Battering ram grants fury for 3 sec every 8 sec
Throw mine grants (not sure)
Rocket boots grants 5 sec of vigor every 10 sec
Slick shoes grants 10 sec of swiftness every 10 sec ( could replace swift kits if you go 30 points into tools)
A.E.D grants 1 charge of daze for 1 sec when struck every 10 sec max of 2 charges
new trait for master tier
(Some name)
Critical hits will toolbelt abilities remove 1 condition this would held with burst build condi clears at the lowest its about 1 condi clear on a crit every 7 sec or so with rifle turret or 11 sec with battering ram

all i can think of atm

I Like the trait but it needs to be combined with the 20% reduced cd and be moved to master tier then a new grandmaster needs be made that allows crits to decrease our utility belt cds just my two centaurs

I think they should just ditch mortar completely. Replace it with a Gattling gun so we we can actually move around and use a hail of lead while we advance. It would also be scarier than a mortar.

Alchemy:VI
Tools:VI
Amulet: Soldier’s
Runes: Melandru
Weapon:Rifle
Sigils: Energy,Intelligence
As for the utilities and kits I run Healing Turret,Bomb Kit,Thumper Turret. Rifle Turret and Supply Crate. This build is pretty tanky while having the ability to hold a point for periods of time and can dish out a hefty amount of control and damage that usually surprises the people I face. Try it out it’s pretty fun let me know about how you like it.
