We are looking at adding a way for players to earn Quickloot in WvW as well. We wanted to keep PvE progression (Masteries) separate from WvW progression (Ability Lines). However this means when a new Mastery ability is created, that might also be useful in another gamemode, it doesn’t automatically crossover.
Considering the pve amount on the new borderlands, this would not even be a crossover…
Guild halls and scribing just looks to me as a major gold and material sink to control the market and prices. Does not look like as it was put there for our favor, really.
Have to say that it’s a big +1 to the OP from me as well.
They need to ignore the people worried about server pride and just merge the WvW servers already. Or just turn them all into EotM style maps and call it a day.
The top 6, maybe 9 servers have a playerbase large enough to play WvW the way it was meant to be.
And that would be the end of WvW.
For me – dislike.
It’s nice as a map but not for WvW. It’s rather a beautifully designed PvE or even more, EoTM map.
Where were you two with your feedback on this matter during the last 2+ years of discussion on the topic of new maps?
It is not like this is some new idea that they dropped out of the blue. This was overwhelmingly demanded via payer feedback.
many people gave feedback on thsoe and were ignored.
New BL is a very nice and well designed but rather PvE map.
I don’t prefer a map where you get lost, where it’s difficult to find the way to the battlefield and takes 20 mins to travel from top to bottom. It feels like another EOTM map and that makes me sad. For now, I think I will prefer EB, but I guess it will be 24/7 queue because many other people thinks the same (at least those I’ve talked to so far).
Saturday.. lunch time.. for reset?
I just wonder who might have thought this was a good idea.
Well, no limitations on WvW.
Expect upper tier spying/sabotage to become 100x worse.
Just… ugh…
How is required to level to 60 no limitations? Not to mention the fact that they can’t use map-chat, nor whisper more often than once every 30 seconds?
That’s not a limitation, lol. It’ll just take them a week or two of lazy playing before they enter WvW.
Real limitations would be:
- Unable to take supply
- Cant order upgrades
- Cant build siege
- No visible commander tagsAt least that would stop the most trolling and AFK spying by f2p accounts. They could still flood a border and prevent gameplay, but I suppose that type of behaviour is impossible to stop unless you simply dont allow f2p accounts in WvW.
Thise limitations would also make them useless in wvw and just take a slot in the queue from players who can actually benefit the server. So this might not be a good idea.
On the other hand the influx of new players might help lower tiers gain numbers and bring back variety. So I’m not sure if I’d +1 or -1 this.
EDIT: and I mean low bronze mainly.
Not really happy that the welcome topic was merged into this one.. anyway.
Spending some time in starter areas as well
But you see that F2P is not actually the whole game, but rather like a teaser?
Got it this morning, thank you. Looks great
Don’t think that GW2 PvP has anything to do with esports, and it’s good like that
Whoever wanted, already have troll or spy account on opposing servers. So I’m not really concerned about this right now.
On the other hand I can now have a new account to play wvw on my original T9 server with some friends who remained there when I moved last year.
Hm got my 3rd birthday presents but not the outfit. Hope it will arrive later…
You should only be able to exit borderlands if you’re not in combat. That would be also consistent with how WPing works. Get out of combat first before you move maps or game modes.
Just thinking out loud as I’ve never played WoW (got bored to hell after 15 mins): what makes a raid “raid”? What exactly is missing from GW2 that this magical word “raid” would solve?
Don’t shoot me just wondering.
Same. Whole guild crashing all the time in wvw, often 2-3-4 of us the same time.

A server that they do not own you do know most mmo lease there servers.
It only makes it easier for them to adjust needed power.
How?
For example, ask the provider to give more horsepower.
I pretty much play WvW only with my guildies. And once a week the guild missions but I would not say I play PvE, that’s like a weekly task.
It;s really cool all these tests are for NA players.. ok, it’s even invite only (well, lol.. I guess a STRESS test would involve some stress.. I mean LOTS of players..), but then again it’s starting like 2AM in Europe
Oh well.. totally confused with these changes around traits and skills and attributes. Feeling totally lost so far. Is this supposed to be easier to understand?
Thank you. I believe this should have been the original offer and anet would have avoided all this mess. At this point, I will pre-purchase as well.
Price might be fine. What you get for it, is not.
This is a price for a full game, not a relatively small expansion.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Well I’m with Guild Wars since GW1 and bought all releases as soon as they were available – until now. I’ve supported anet a lot, and brought many friends into the game. I always thought they have a fair pricing and they gave me good value for my price and I used their expansion policy as good examples when talking about online games: reasonable price and on expansions they always included extra character slot.
Now this looks like a different anet that I don’t really like anymore. This expansion announcement looks like a PR disaster to me. The price is for a full release however the content looks like a minor expansion (even less than Eye of the North was – which was actually priced lower than this). Actually the price is higher than what I payed for the core game… it’s not that I don’t have the money. It’s that I don’t think it’s worth the price.
I believe old players deserve at least that as always before, the extra character slot should be included in the expansion for them. I definitely won’t pay extra for it (just exchanged some gold to gems and bought it ). Not lieing, I will probably buy the expansion, but definitely not prepurchasing. But in anyway, this is again a case where I got disappointed in anet (after those success stories like megaserver, traits redesign, new player experience…). Feels like anet concentrates on income now, and does not care anymore for the loyalty or sympathy of its players.
Same here, loading got incredibly slow.
With the same argument, because eles and necros are often also targeted first, let’s protect them as well? Sorry but this makes absolutely no sense.
For me, the focus of WvW is to have fun with guildies and have entertaining fights. One of the ways of getting rid of stress.
Did not stop. This is the last thing I enjoy in GW2 that actually keeps me with the game (and the server pride that some say nonexistent).

Amazing guild mates and lots of good people on my server.
Not exactly sure yet why this should be ‘improvement’, I feel it’s again catering the beginners and taking away sense of progress and achievement.
What is this ‘achievement’ you speak of, you really regard playing a video game for X number of hours as an ‘achievement’?
Achievement == achieving something tangible and noticeable by playing a certain game mode (and I’m talking rather experience than time, as achievement points are not that strictly related to the amount of time you spend in WvW).
Similar to game levels. Do you think those are useless as well, as those are also earned after playing a video games for a certain amount of time? Do you think traits and skills earned by playing are also useless? I don’t really understand your argument.

All those nice theories at anet, why to change something, why to take away something.
It’s all nice but where is the FUN? Isn’t GW a game somewhere, that people play for fun?
Fun?
It is not nice when there is no Fun to play against this profession. GW should be a game somewhere, that people play for fun but it is not. That is why change-challenge must be enforce to make it happen.
-You can not talk about one without the other-
Sorry but… WHAT ?!
I want to share something with you include Elementalists players that is very interesting.
Interesting but has absolutely nothing to do about what this topic is discussing (and also I don’t agree with it generally).
All those nice theories at anet, why to change something, why to take away something.

I agree. Leveling was much better before the so-called “new player experience” patch.

well, why can’t anet add more incentives for wvw other than tournaments?
Not all of us require incentives to play a game mode we enjoy…
I guess my incentive is the community, the people I play with.
It’s the only place you’re gonna find bad players unless you transfer to a low tier server.
So you assume people on low tier are generally bad, because they play on a low tier?
Most players in low tier servers are casual and do not play in an environment that requires a great amount of skill so there is no incentive or necessity to improve. This is a well known fact.
It sounds like an opinion, rather.
It’s the only place you’re gonna find bad players unless you transfer to a low tier server.
Low tier does not mean bad players. It means less people / guilds.
People that say it’s popular must only play right after daily reset. Or they really enjoy PvD.
“daily reset” ?
Absolutely agreed. I avoid those armor as I would not want to put any expensive runes into them – no way to get them back (I mean, no way that would worth it – extractors would work but those are more expensive than the runes).
Exactly because I’m a guy.
Rather watch a female character while I’m playing
Sounds much better inded
I just don’t get the logic.
It’s so core, everyone uses it → let’s remove!
I don’t hate it, I just ignore it.
The only thing I hate when people call it wvw, because it is not.
I don’t see lag issues in the past weeks however the wvw borderland limits are now reduced – how long? When will we get back the previous limits? Currently even in low silver we have queues every night.
I could almost have a discussion about AB if the OP wouldn’t have gone the route of suggesting removing WvW to do it. That makes it one of the worst ideas I have ever heard, and I am 100% against it.
Wvw is garbage.
You appear to me, to have difficulty with the difference between subjective opinion, and objective fact. Your idea is destined to die because you come to a subforums of a very popular game mode and bash it, then poorly articulate your idea, and want folks to take up your cause?
The quote above is not going to build your fan base particularly quickly.
Considering that WvW is empty the majority of the day, I’d say it’s based in fact.
Maybe on your server but definitely not everywhere. Have you checked other servers as well?
WvW and AB are very different. I played AB a lot in GW1 but I definitely would not want WvW to be replaced to this. So I have to say I cannot support this idea at all.
