Someone who plays wvw regularly, possibly as his/her main game mode.
Like, just because I randomly do fractals I don’t became a “fractal player”. I spend 95% of my game time in WvW.
We need to update the loyalty pip description.
You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.
How do I participate if I cannot even get on the borderlands? Queues everywhere.
No. I’d never pay subscription fee for any game.
Seriously, I believe they are doing the right thing. They listened to feedback and now they are asking the opinion of the players before taking actions, and trying to act according to the wishes of the majority. I can’t say that is a bad thing.
In the next release, a 6th pip is being added to the provision master ability line that allows you to buy HoT recipes, sigils, and runes from the heroics notary vendor.
Wow. Thank you. Honestly.
One more week with Alpine and it’s still awesome, lots of action, enjoying WvW on the borderlands like we couldn’t, for long time. Still happy!
I don’t get why you change to these new maps. They look bad, they smell bad, they taste bad, and nobody is playing anymore since you added them.
Everyone just spawn camps their home bls preventing roamers from doing any real damage. When zergs go to fight there they just slosh back and forth in the same spots over and over without gain. And bloodlust is the stupidest thing I’ve seen in wvsw to date. 75% of the land on these new maps aren’t even used for combat! Or has anything to do with wvsw!
Not sure where to play but I frequently see now borderlands having higher queues than EB, and in general we’re having much more intense and enjoyable fights.
Or maybe introduce a rotation, like 1 month desert, 1 month alpine? That way everyone could have a chance to play on the map they prefer?
I can’t honestly understand how people cling to something like server pride, especially when you claim stuff for your guild.
Just because you haven’t experienced something, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist…
No. Please no. Go to EOTM instead and leave WvW for people who like it…
Well, a couple days have passed.. and I still like Alpine, much better than desert. Not because of nostalgia but because.. well.. I simply prefer it, still.
Nice, thanks for bringing back Alpine. So much fun last night
Stability change is positive. Feels much better to play melee, while it’s still quite possible to counter it with properly arranged CC. Fight between CC and melee feels more even now in bigger groups.
I have to admit I really hated pirate ship meta. I like this better both with my guardian but with my ranged characters as well.
I think “absorbing” the smaller server in the pairing is not a good idea. You should not take away the identity of those players. This change should make the smaller servers’ players feel better and not worse.. feeling that they’re just some nameless mercenaries is not the right thing. Another solution that would rather reinforce that they’re allies would be much better.
there are MORE complains then ppl posting they love this patch
Actually it might be the fact that unhappy people are more likely to raise their hands, many of us are guilty in this, I’ve been complaining about wvw and general gw2 changes in the past many times but only posted like once in one of these “thank you” posts.
While I think wvw has been awesome since the change (continuous action, lots of epic battles, finally people on the borderlands), it’s true that queues are suboptimal (last night we had all maps queued). I think it’s partially due to lots of PvE players farming the reward tracks, and will only last for a short while. Maybe the pairings were not done right and also added more people to the maps than expected. On one hand Anet could increase the number of players that fit on a map, but in larger encounters the FPS is already quite low for many of us, and higher limits could make that even worse. Not sure what could be done…
Well the good: yesterday night we had the most awesome fights for quite long time, the desert BLs were full of people and action. EB had an insane queue, 2 out of 3 BLs were also having slight queues, and it was a continuous bloodbath with a constant flow of loot.
Bad part: 3 out of 4 maps queued is not ideal. Framerate and lag were also bad at times.
Yeah lots of disconnects tonight, in some cases all the guild dropping the same time during raid in WvW.
Good ideas and good direction, I like the changes around WvW and skills (don’t know about the others yet – I almost only play WvW).
For a very long time this is the first patchnote that I’m reading that I actually like. It feels like someone was actually thinking and trying to make things better; someone who actually listens and knows how to play WvW.
The reward track, the stability and skill changes, map changes all make sense to me so far (of course we’ll see how it feels in the long run, but after raiding today I definitely noticed the difference with stability).
Anyway, in short I wanted to say thank you. Some faith in Anet restored.
For this amount of gems it should be at least a shared bag slot.
I think this would be the main theme of WvW overhaul. It would be nice because players can enjoy pve content in WVW now. (without map q on all of the borderland)
That’d be the worst thing they could ever do.
No way in hell.
That would be my last day in GW. I’ve never played any subscription based game and never will.
Wow. I don’t like spoilers either but I don’t see any particular reason that BY ITSELF ALONE it would be something to report in a game. Can anyone please point out for me the relevant text in the game’s license that forbids it?
While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.
Repeatedly spamming spoilers in map chat and lfg is straight up harassment and griefing and SHOULD be met with the appropriate response of a suspension.
I’m sorry but I fail to interpret talking about a movie in the same seriousness as harrassment or hate speech. These cannot and SHOULD NOT be treated similarly. People need to grow up. Shall I just report anyone who talks about things in map chat that I don’t want to hear? Ridiculous.

#17:
You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars 2 and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars 2.
GW2’s lack of an automated spoiler-warning censor bar over any content with the trigger words, “Star Wars,” “Force Awakens,” “Han Solo,” “Kylo Ren,” “Space battle,” “Chewbacca on harpsichord,” or “Luke Skywalker’s missing pants,” is an exploitable bug which players are abusing in mapchat.
Clearly.
This has nothing to do with spoilers.
Bad idea that opens the possibilities of trolling by a fake call. On another hand I don’t see the reason to punish the fact that a commander responds to someone’s call and bring forces to defend an objective, for example.

Well, this is how a company treats customers…
These sound like good changes to me. One comment though, instead of PPK, point per stomp could be potentially better or more fair.
Edit: yeah I can make a typo in two lines
Very good writing, thanks for it! I could not agree the OP more.
Sorry but no. WvW is so much more and better than open world PvP.
So explain me why most of the servers except for the 3-4 top ones is so desolated if it’s that good?
Because people like to stack on the top servers for various reasons; and many people just stopped playing WvW due to Anet’s changes over the time.
BTW what you’re saying is not true, I’ m not on “one of the 3-4 top ones” and WvW is not desolate.
Sorry but no. WvW is so much more and better than open world PvP.
The PvP tags are too bright and unlike the mastery numbers which are also bright, they always show up. It feels like they did this to push PvP and say, look how many do PvP!
Found this picture to show how visually distracting they are.
Exactly what I call visual clutter..
I think by having “factions” WvW would become something more like EotM which WvW players (including myself) deeply dislike and generally avoid.
I probably would. I like my server’s community and the fight against other servers, chainging weekly. TBH for around one year now, I’ve stayed in the game due to the server community.
I find the outrage on dev silence a little curious. I’ve been a gamer for years, but hardly gave a second thought to the ‘men behind the curtain’, and certainly never expected them to check in with the players in any meaningful way. I suppose interacting with the community is the new standard, now that technology permits it.
Interacting with the customer is a normal thing in the world. After all, the game is developed for the customers (and of course the profit, but the profit is closely tied to how the customers see the product and its creator).
I tend to prefer those companies who are openly and honestly communicating, and able to have meaningful conversation with their customers. Yes, even if/when they are not satisfied. It’s a normal thing that can be handled…
Yeah I agree. I suppose the reason for these tags are Anet’s advertising PvP, but to be honest, I don’t have the slightest interest in PvP and I won’t have so by seeing these tags either. It’s just more things on screen. Name / Guild / Title was perfectly enough.
+1 for that, maybe it was a glitch that it was not soulbound, but it made sense. Just like the tomes, which I use frequently to skip those parts of the game that I don’t enjoy now since I’ve already done it 8 times. Who exactly did it hurt that I could use these PoH’s on another character? Did I cause any harm to anyone by doing so? I don’t believe.
Yeah yet another completely useless icon on the name tags, wish it could be turned off. Visual clutter all it is, without adding any useful information outside PvP.
I’m a bit speechless. Why on earth was this necessary? How can someone come up with such an idea on what’s the most important and urgent to fix in WvW? Did REALLY someone think this is a positive change?
Hi everybody,
This is a sub-topic thread from a parent thread found here:
Hi anonymous,
Thanks for suggesting the idea to Dissolve Servers & Embrace Megaserver as it relates to the New Map Mechanic that I’m poposing.
I’m setting up this sub-topic thread to continue this discussion in detail here to keep the parent thread focused on topic about Reboot Base Map Mechanic & Population.
Appreciate your feedback & looking forward to this discussion with you & the WvW Community.
Diku
The day WvW changed to megaserver-like, would be the last for me in gw2.
TBH this concerns me.
Anet’s definition of better does not usually align well with the players’.
No no no no no no please no.
No more EOTM pretty please.
Has anyone seen or heard of fixes to any of these bugs? Should I be bothered to try the last episode of the story or is it just hopelessly bugged for more than a week now? The game releases subtopic is silent since the 4th….
Big +1 on this post, now we only need someone from Anet to read it and do something..
Well. It did not live up to my expectations and the price I paid for it.
I confirm, wasn’t able to complete today, bugged after the second fight, rift does not do anything.
Anyone else experiencing the same – the episode cannot be completed as after bringing down the pale tree, if we try to activate the “Reality Rift”, nothing happens.
Tried like 3 times, with different persons starting the story, same result. This is extremely annoying. On the map I hear people talking about all sorts of blocking bugs that make it impossible to finish the story. And yes, I sent a bug report in game as well, but I know I won’t get any response on that…
WHY are you even trying to go to full servers in the first place ??
there is enough available servers if you’re guild is there find a new one no big deal.
…because friends are playing on that server, for example?
