Best item ever put in Gem Store

It’s up to the individual how they play in open world and up to the vets to teach them in group play.

To be honest I learned more about a character after getting to 80 than on the road up to 80. I could put on my Ascended gear and go out and swap skills without worrying about dying all the time.

If it doesn’t come with the shared inventory slot now, it may be bundled with one at a later date. Or the level booster, additional character slot, and inventory slot.

They could also change the way that elite specs are unlocked and do something like require you to farm up 250 Glint Snot points from Glint Snot challenges in order to spend your snotdragon points unlocking your elite.

Ask “snot” what your MMO can do for you, but what you can do for your MMO!

Give them a month of actual game-play to see how the mechanic plays out in WvW, PvP, raids, fractals, and PvE before a major change comes into effect.

Real life plays little into MMORPGs and for good reason.

I think the first shot should be a “free-bie” and then the PC, NPC, or monster knows it’s being targeted by a sniper. Maybe even the first shot, getting dialed in, does half damage, but causes cripple or confusion or immobilize.

Crafting [suggestion]

I kind of thought of the same thing for crafting precursor weapons for Legendaries.

They already call for a (ridiculous) number of mats in total, why not figure out a way for a person to level in crafting proficiency right along when crafting a Legendary Weapon?

Similar to the open-world story line issue, it would add synergy within the game.

Things evolve … so does warfare.

Look back at 1767 AD: a majority of the world was colonized by Western European empires: England, France, Spain and Portugal were world powers, along with the Ottoman empire, Quing Dynasty in China and the Prussians of the Eastern European Steppes.

We may look and speak similar languages today, have similar battle-lines or alliances, still fight for territory and resources, but what we use is quite different.

I would love to see a version of the Dervish and Ritualist.

The only thing we can do now is keep letting ANET know that a high enough percentage of players want to see something (like a Dervish) and see how they interpret it into the story.

Right now you have three specialization slots for each character to choose to have active at any given time; three core or two core and the class elite.

Now each class will be able to access an additional elite specialization. You will still be able to play with your original three core specializations or two core + the elite you are used to OR train in the new expansion elite. You won’t loose anything you have already gained.

I was a person who was happy with GW1 and was NEVER going to get GW2. Now I’m just as addicted as I was to GW1.

I think now that the system they created with GW2, expanded with HoT, and are now getting ready to expand again has been tested and fixed for the majority of the players.

With each expansion, you will see fewer people in the older parts of GW2, so they may need to find alternate ways to craft 1st and 2nd Gen Legendary weapons. That wouldn’t hurt my feelings a bit.

It stands to reason that the more area you cover, and don’t increase the population, the fewer people you will see.

What I would like to see in a new profession:

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Game of Bones.8975

Game of Bones.8975

Let’s call it a Staff-Caster for now. It would fit in the Scholar category, but I could see it as an Adventurer just as easily.

Imagine your lone adversary on a walkway. He spins his radiant staff off his shoulder in a flourish and seemingly scribes glowing sigils in the stones around him before flipping backward into a defensive posture. As your party cautiously walks the path, the sigils explode into a myriad of spells that wound and envelop your troupe in fear. All the while he waits, taunting you from afar, spinning his staff, and sending spells ripping into your helpless group. Those who do make it through see him again strike the ground, writing spells in the stone around him, calling forth an army of minions that charge into the fray right along with his deadly spinning staff.

I can see this profession being like the Elementalist in that it lacks weapon-swapping choosing to focus on casting. They make up for it by summoning multiple allies for a short term, as well as creating conditions to bottle-neck and slow down foes.

Staff wouldn’t be the only weapon, but it could take the slot of the long- and short-range weapon if necessary. Dagger, Focus, Pistol, Scepter, Short-bow, Torch, and Warhorn are all current weapons I could see in their inventory.

Now, maybe I’m completely out of it, but without our individual fantasies life it a pretty boring place.

When was the last time a new weapon class was added?
Break down the professions already in play; each have long-, med-, and short-range damage capabilities. Some do focus on more of one than another, but that’s to be expected. In order to bring in another class of weapon each profession would have to be evaluated to see where it would fit or if it should be left out. There are no profession-exclusive weapons — yet.
Scythes, crossbows, and throwing spears seem to be very popular additions if a poll were to be taken. Others may be pole-arms, whips (or the ol’ ball-and-chain), summoning crystals (shields, swords, or minions), or suits of armor (a-la the Asuran Golem with up-gradable accessories).
Maybe we won’t see anything.

Are Legendary Items Outdated (Just Kidding)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Game of Bones.8975

Game of Bones.8975

As the world of GW2 continues to expand, more and more shortcomings are coming to light about crafting Legendary items. As I’ve read many threads, these are the most complained about issues. This isn’t a complete list by far and I’ve added in my opinions to each issue.
• Cost in gold or time – what did you expect? When you build a Lamborghini, it’s going to cost money and take time to do it right. If you want the same stats without the cost, craft a bunch of Ascended items (like I did).
• Can’t complete Jumping Puzzles to get items – Parts of this I do agree with, the grandmasters want to make sure you really, really want to craft this item. Don’t waste their digital time if you aren’t willing to put in the time to improve yourself.
• Some items require a group effort, it’s (daily/weekly) time sensitive and I work, people are migrating away from areas – An area I can get behind. LFG doesn’t always work; the perfect storm of getting the group together, having the right group make-up, and then defeating the monster is becoming even harder.
• Allow Ascended items to have 1 or 2 slots where Legendary-like abilities can be imbued into them during the crafting process – I like this, don’t give an Ascended weapon the entire list of abilities Legendaries have, but if a person wants their weapon to have the footfalls and draw animation or stat swap and sound, that wouldn’t push things over the top. If these were permanent abilities when crafted, some thought would have to be put into what a person wants.
• What about those of us who want the skins of a Legendary without the abilities? – I don’t have any real thoughts on this one. I would kind of like to have an Ascended item with the skin of a Legendary. I don’t care about the footfalls, stat-swapping, missile animation or anything else, it just fits the image of the character.

Let me know what you think. Be (somewhat) kind, I’m only trying to help the process not just point out what someone thinks are bad and is therefore universally wrong with the whole system.

Full disclosure — I have no Legendary Items, but love the look of the Heavy Legendary Armor, Nevermore, and Frostfang.

With the advent of the Engineer, I would have thought the inclusion of a crossbow would be a perfect meld between the compact short-bow and the pistol.
It would be a great deliverer of poison for Rangers.
The Legendary Assassin/Demon Stances of the Revenant could make use it as well.

Vinetooth Prime and Nevermore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Game of Bones.8975

Game of Bones.8975

Another rant against Legendary Crafting. You may quit reading if you want.
I’ll give a specific example: killing the Vinetooth Prime to begin crafting Nevermore. I’ve been at this for the better part of a year now. Trying to get a group together to take on the creature is difficult to do in the time allotted when everyone is focused on gaining access to the Eastern Gate and the city chests afterward. There is no guarantee that, if you should get a group, and activate the portal, the Prime will show. And this is one of the first steps of the process.
Having to go through a dungeon, raid, or fractal, something that is always available is one thing. Win or lose you can start over right away with a new build, group, or profession, but having to wait an indeterminate amount of time for the right circumstances seems a bit too much of a gamble for the very first step.
Am I being unreasonable in my outlook?

Who says Legendary Weapons/Armor must be crafted by going through a combination of HoT, raids, fractals, dungeons, or jumping puzzles? Are you telling me ANET can’t come up with challenging material for people to do in regular PvE maps to call a weapon ‘legendary’?
There seems to be small gaps between crafting the lower tier weapons (fine, masterwork, exotic) and ascended weapons, but a huge leap to achieve the legendary status.
Maybe adding a channel or two while crafting ascended weapons for special features; special footfalls, changing stats, animation when weapon is drawn, or ranged combat animations, etc.

I wish I had worked on my Legendary Crafting line (Pact) before populating some of the others. If you don’t do fractals, shove your points into that crafting or gathering.
I’m working on Ley Line Gliding (HoT) right now. There are quite a few mastery points available once I get that finished.

I’m trying to get into fractals and raids, but when each person has a specific person role to play and a single person isn’t doing their part (aka me) … the team fails. I feel intimidated to get into that part of the game because I don’t know what to do.

I’m also finding that in certain cases these are becoming a cookie-cutter approach; your team has to use a Mesmer, Druid, two warriors, and a Guardian or it will fail. There doesn’t seem to be room for the random necro or elementalist.
