How do you know one of the developers were playing? They have a special colored name or something??
They used to, with a special ArenaNet icon above their character’s head. I can’t find the post but I believe some of the developers have gone “underground”, preferring to use standard accounts instead.
Probably because of the influx of spam and such…
The absence of city guards coming to take you away for standing on a dead whale shows that the mythical land of Tyria is a much saner place than other places in real life.
Using the default keybindings template, if you move Autorun onto Mouse 4, then the Guild Dialog and Scoreboard onto the right-hand side of the keyboard, you will be left with eight empty keys on the left-hand side which can replace [7]-[0] and [F1]-[F4]:
[Q], [E], [R], [G], [Z], [X], [C] and [B]
As a rule of thumb I don’t recommend sacrificing [W], [A], [S] or [D], especially in a game with jumping puzzles. Relying on the mouse completely for movement often comes at the expense of good camera control.
I had only one strategy as an Asuran…jump immediately when the first pathway starts building itself. As long as I was ahead of the pack, I didn’t have to worry about big Norns treading on me
Don’t forget people telling others to skip the story in dungeons. That is really rude. But what’s worse is I don’t ever say anything. Nobody says anything except the aggravator, then evil prevails because we do nothing.
Sad, really…
Agreed, wouldn’t be surprised if this thread gets moved into the suggestions forum.
Though if you desperately need to check your ping and are running Windows, you can find a good workaround here.
Ranger boss in Ascalonian Catacombs has 2 wolves called Shadow and Fang = Warcraft reference perhaps for Shadowfang keep?
Shadowfang was a Diablo 2 reference.
Another obvious Blizzard reference can be found in the form of a meta event in Metrica Province.
Asura storyline – personal golem of Zojja is called Mr. Sparkles (reference to big daddy a.k.a. Mr. Bubbles from Bioshock)
I only just saw that yesterday. Would of never occured to me what it was about until you explained it. In fact I thought it was a reference to Homer Simpson
This thread explains all
Sorry if I sounded patronising or condescending explaining about emoticons. I genuinely didn’t know you wanted the specific ones for this forum. Apologies!
All good.
I’m glad to have found this one by myself

Excellent! I’ll add it to the list.
This forum is mad as a box of frogs.
Oh smilies! Not similies. My bad. Sawwy!
(^o^) @ you!
My personal favourtie is the JP one for a ranger or firing an arrow…

I also love the table flip one! It won’t work here, so it’ll leave it out, but I’m sure you’ve seen it or can find it.
Wait a minute, I know that ranger…it’s Kirby!
Just found the table flip one too. Best I could do with ASCII:
(/ ºuº)/ ‡
he means ones that become actual graphics rather than just ones you type out.
Yeah, this is what I was actually going for though. I couldn’t find any in the FAQ.
These are the ones I know (or have been discovered by others):

What happens when you die and run out of bank money too? Do the ogres come to beat you up?
I love how the grass sways and parts itself as I violently blow poor defenceless creatures into the eternal alchemy.
Oh and the water sprinkler thingies on the farms, I love those. I keep wondering how the water bends.
Divinity’s Reach made me ask myself, how could they afford to build this?
Bank Slots? Inventory Slots? Char slots?
My line of thinking is:
Bank and Inventory slots > Cosmetics I really want > Boosts and other consumables
Character slots are something I guess you should spend on when you need them. One character can easily fill up the bank and their inventory but you only need character slots when you’re bored with your fifth toon and beyond.
lvl 2 Sylvari Ranger (for PVP)
Get some Cow Finisher’s!
Someone randomly said to me “nice ears, stitch” when I was a much lower level. It made me smile

Will ArenaNet be allowing any sort of add ons in the future?
From Eric Flannum via IRC chat in December 2011:
“We won’t be allowing people to mod the game itself directly no. We feel that this encourages people to play the game in such a way that gives them an unfair advatage over those who don’t use mods. However we understand that many people enjoy modding games and are looking into ways for people to build things for the game in other ways. We’ll have more information on this sometime next year.”
So in three months time if there is no updated answer by then, you can always post the question again :P
TBH, I don’t think you’ll be getting a damage meter as they can be as divisive in the game as they are helpful in certain situations.
Yep, players start setting the requirements instead of ArenaNet.
I had no idea what was causing my Asura’s backpack to appear sideways until I found this thread. It does seem related to the T1 Cultural Armor.
