Seriously guys, they drop CONSTANTLY. I was in Brisban Wildlands tonight and had to have opened at least a dozen of the things. Just look for little peppermint icons on your maps. I ended the night with around 6 small boxes and 20-something medium ones.
It implies nothing, because the event is not 5 days long and they said we’ll be able to rerun the paths(somewhere, i know i read it, LA part and all). The dev answer is misleading at best, horribly depressing at worst….
You can currently re-do the dungeon, like the jumping puzzle you get three giant Wintersday gifts after you complete it the first time. Which is what I’m sure will remain the reward once Tixx reaches Lion’s Arch. So it does in-fact imply that you will only be able to make two toys. I hope I’m wrong.

I think the comment, “all five days.” imply’s that we won’t be able to repeat the quests after Tixx has arrived in Lion’s Arch. Can you do the quest on alternate characters?
Have you actually seen the weapon skins? Even previewing them doesn’t do them justice. They are slightly animated and have a frosty particle effect. I think they’re quite nice. I don’t think there will be craft-able weapons, I didn’t see a mention of them in the patch notes, unless “gw2db.com” updates their site with the new items no one can know for sure.
Yeah, I didn’t mind forking out money twice for the mini-pets during the Halloween event, at least it was 10$ well spent. I converted 30 gold of my savings into gems today and I have next to nothing to show for it. It’s a Christmas event, why do so many people need to walk away dissapointed? Either way, I’m not dishing out anymore money for those chests, if however a mini-pet trio showed up on the gem store again I’d gladly pay for it, twice even.
I was thinking it would be productive to create a thread on what dyes appear the best on which armor. Winterday colors are obviously red, white, and green and the different armor types are light, medium, and heavy.
If you want to attach a photo and list the armor type (In case anyone is new.) and the colors used that would be great!
I suggest removing the lodestones completely from the “Gift of X” recipe and to replace it with a different item, dropped from the Temple chests in Orr. This will make players play in your “endgame” zones more and help out with earning karma for shards. Chests should drop one of these replacement items always, and have a small chance ~10% of receiving a second one.
This is very logical, I don’t know why ArenaNet hasn’t made this a reality. In a game about exploration and discovery it seems strange that ArenaNet is funnelling us into dungeons or WvW.
I used to find that this game’s loot had a Diablo-esque addictive quality to it. I’d find tons of items which I could either sell or salvage and it seemed like every enemy was worth killing. Now I find myself looking for ways to avoid combat because killing anything is hardly worth the “junk” it drops. Honestly, I don’t think the loot tables ever needed to be fiddled with except making some items like lodestones drop from several sources as opposed to one or two mobs in the entire game. I would say killing earth elementals for 100 hours is “repetitive, and not fun” which ArenaNet cannot deny is grinding. At least tier 6 materials drop from many sources in many places and can be earned from doing many different things, lodestones on the other hand…
You’ll never see that money again, I’ve been missing 3 gold since the beginning of September. No official comment from ArenaNet, they didn’t feel the need to answer my customer support ticket.
Edit: I should add that there was a merged forum at one point for the hundreds of people who lost money on the Trading Post, ArenaNet will make the effort to merge all the posts into a single forum but won’t make the effort to type a few sentences letting people know they care.
I have the same issue, the keyboard layout changes to French just before my game crashes. It won’t actually crash until I hit “Enter” or click somewhere else on the screen. It’s happened a lot and I can say without a doubt that there isn’t any specific character combination that causes this.
I bought an Explorer’s Pearl Broadsword last night and applying a Sigil of Luck had the same effect. I have an Explorer’s Pearl Broadsword of Accuracy, the bug is constant across all “Weaponsmithing” (400) weapons.
Anyone who complained about the Mad King’s clocktower, have you ever tried blasting the chest open at the end of Griffonrook Run only to find it empty? I finished the Mad King’s clocktower in just over an hour, it took me 10 hours to open the chest at the end of Griffonrook Run. Anyone looking for a challenge, enjoy!
I recently bought an Explorer’s Pearl Reaver from the Trading Post, I applied a Sigil of Luck and here I have an Explorer’s Pearl Reaver of Accuracy. That really bothers me, it should be “of Luck,” not only that but I bought two of these Pearl Reavers and had the same had the same result both times. I tried to apply a second Sigil of Luck to one of the Pearl Reavers to no avail.
On the topic of Halloween mini pets, there is a mini pet listed on www.gw2db.com as “Mini Spooky Mummy” or something to that effect. Maybe this will become available in Act IV, maybe it’ll be exclusive to this year’s celebration. I could be mistaken maybe it’s already available.
I’m actually embarassed as a Charr warrior wearing the heavy version, the effect from the runes is also misleading considering the birds it spawns are far from being ravens! I vote for a re-skin, a little more effort would go a long way.
To those who plan to obtain these runes, a fair warning; it doesn’t actually spawn ravens, it’s just the hawkes similar to that ranger skill. It’s quite disappointing really.
I should mention I’m a warrior, I don’t use swiftness and I’m consistently first by a great margin solely because I have a several shortcuts to the top.
No really, people need to stop making new threads about the Mad King’s Clocktower, once you’ve done it the first time it’s simple. When you solve a puzzle you use through trial and error to figure out what works and what doesn’t if jumping a certain way onto a certain object gives you a bad camera angle logic would be not to do that again. I can tell you that the way I get to the top without failing 8 or 9 times in a row doesn’t have any “bugging out on the environment camera angles” I’m a Charr warrior.
It’s the first part of a week long event, give me a break. It’s chaotic right now but that’s to be expected of new content on the first day, do you think every World of Warcraft expansion wasn’t like this on the first day? I wouldn’t chalk it up to poor game design.
I’m pretty sure you’re mistaken, the celebration is still on the 31st. I’m not sure where you read that but an ArenaNet employee posted earlier that nothing has changed.
Did anyone consider that the achievement bar might be associated with the larger events? One point for the October 22nd – 26th event, one point for the October 26th – 28th event, and so on.
I’m missing a black dye/2 gold, 69 silver, and 10 copper. It appears in the “Items I’ve bought” tab but not once in the last five days has this black dye appeared in “Pick Up” tab. I’ve sent in a bug report, a support ticket, and am now posting in the forums. I haven’t gotten a response and I find it a little irritating because as a company who claims to want to build a close community of gamers, you’re doing a terrible job of keeping your current player base. I’d appreciate a post or a reply to my support ticket, at least acknowledging the problem and letting us know that you are aware of the issue and hopefully trying to fix it.
