People are just being ridiculous. You don’t want it now you may want it later. You whined and whined and you got extra character slot, you can pat yourself on the back.

Ugh... is it RNG or... I swear I'm hexed.

You know what, I think they have some bugs there somewhere. There was a rumour going around how vet people were less lucky than new players.

I myself never got squat, which eventually led me to post a rage post on the forums. After that I got ‘some’ stuff => I started getting exotic items out of champ bags now and then, and I got 2 fractal skins :O It’s died down a bit since then but it makes me suspect they are working on their RNG and they might be tweaking things in the background. Eg if there was a bug that was affecting me they might have gone and done something.

It’s easy to think there might be a bug affecting vet players luck because 3 years after launch they fixed the percentages on salvage kits

The only way to know really is to get official statement from them stating there were no such tweaks, and they do not know of such bugs (which doesn’t mean bugs don’t exist).

I’m in general in favor of minimizing RNG, so for precursor at least you’ll be able to craft one with HoT And your hb hopefully gave you one of his? :O

It is MMO, without long term/huge time sink goals it wouldn’t be an MMO. My understanding is people who play MMO like some aspect of it. GW2 has tons of aspects to like, and you’re in no way forced to do any long term stuff.

I don’t have any legendaries, played since launch, I will make one once the expac drops and I can get precursor without buying one on TP.

I got ascended armor though for 1 character, loved the process of time gated crafting and how every 3-4 days I got a piece. At the end it felt nice, a month long accomplishment.

Doesn’t mean I play 5h/day, far from. It’s all about the type of game you want to play.

I do not think I can explain it well, the RNG is just fine for the game. It fun to work towards something, trying for that drop, and when ou do get it, you are excited. If I just get it, that sorta borning, but that just how I feel. Some things are given, sure, and other require work, it just how it is, and such.

Funny though that work is defined as “activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.” . Most of us do work because we know we get something out of it.

The point I’m making is not that we should be getting items without putting in ‘work’ (or game time – I don’t think of my game time as work tbh). The point I’m making is pls reduce the randomness element of it because as things stand now, in 99.9% of cases you get nothing even though you ‘work’ for it.

And in some cases people do almost no ‘work’ and get stuff, while you did a lot of ‘work’ for it and still get nada (due to RNG).

And saying ’that’s just how things are’ – is just plain defeatist lol. Sorry that’s not how things are, that’s how Anet is making them be :P

If you feel like I do, feel free to post +1 or anything else, so maybe, just maybe, Anet sees how many people they are making unhappy with this.

Please STOP WITH THE RNG.

Everything, anything, in the game (ideally) should be earned, not chanced upon.
When you take right steps with masteries, EARNABLE precursors, maps like Dry Top And Silverwastes which introduce EARNABLE collections, armor stats, skins, back pieces…

When you do that, and then drop in more RNG, you look like a company that is poorly organized. Left hand doesn’t know what the right one is doing.

RNG rewards very few, kittenes off very many, causes people to feel unrewarded for the vast amounts of time they put into the game, and causes them to play less, not more. Which loses you money in the long run.

You know this, and yet you keep on doing it. Get your kitten together and stop it.

And I don’t even care about the Beta Portal. It’s one of those drops that took me over the edge, at the root being the problem of constant RNG and feeling unlucky, unrewarded, and playing less and less because of it.

You might have spent 150 for a collectors edition, but someone may have spent $1000 in the gemstore in the last 2 years lol.

Anet should minimize RNG because it’s in most cases perceived as unfair. They should also look into this rumour that new accounts are luckier. I never get SQUAT and I ’ve been playing since launch. No ascended drops ever, no nothing. My friends gets the game for 10 bucks and immediately gets the bee dog mini out of black lion chest.

Better optimization Is Needed

Gimli.9461

I do find that some areas are noticeably not optimized compared to others. However ANET has done a splendid job on optimizing all areas players actually play in , in my experience.

Harathi used to give me horrid lag when those weird pillars of light were on the horizon, and zergs would lag me out, now it’s fine.

The only areas that are noticeably worse are the character creation starting areas (I mean starting area where you kill your first boss before you’re in the real world) – my frame rate there drops to 40, but as you never spend much time in them – that’s not on their priority list. Makes sense.

The thing with zergs apparently it’s a good CPU you need not just the graphics card, due to number of players to be shown. I’d suggest setting number of character models displayed to lowest – it really helps where lots of people gather. You don’t see everyone’s armor, true, but if you target them it’ll render (or walk up close enough). Plus I don’t care much about seeing other people’s armor, just mine :P

the trinity system in gw2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gimli.9461

Gimli.9461

Who made a trinity? Never encountered specific requests for class or armor type; Zerkers – occasionally; otherwise all groups I’ve been in consisted of all kinds of classes; except sometimes a person will switch to other class because group say doesn’t have a mesmer and they want to play mesmer on this fractal / dungeon – but they only switch because they want to, not because they are asked.

Maybe I’ve been lucky to avoid the “elitistest of the elitists”.

Lol necro nothing of value in above post, funny; I don’t have a necro myself I did consider making one because I see conditions becoming more important in solo roaming (fighting Mordrem in SW). Yet still I often encounter a necro in a dungeon group; sure they might not have the use of a guardian or mesmer but those conditions do hurt. I suspect that any new dungeon/mechanics added will have from time to time mobs like those husks where warriors have a tough time damaging them because you have to spec condi. And dungeon setting having only 5 people, necro would come in quite handy considering guardian can only burn, mesmers are never specced condi, and warriors also would have to change spec to go condi.

Also poison is a 50% healing debuff which has been needed in some places (Queen’s pavilion for instance). Thief can poison sure but necro I think has the most condi they can apply which can be very powerful on a tough armor mob.

ANET: Complaint to you

Silverwastes. Everyone knows players mostly leave the map at 0%, thus it takes a while to ramp the map up and taxi people in. Here I was working on the map for about an hour, taxi’ing people in, and at 60% comes in a zerg led by a commander farming chests.

They promptly run by all fortresses, annihilating any progress in those fortresses, leaving dead players in their wake not even bothering to rez them.

I have player names turned off, so Tab I press to see what the hell just happened to fortress blue. I see a zerg. In the midst of it I see Anet player.

I get the ‘play how you want’ thing , I get that you can’t prevent people from doing that. All it takes for that commander is to zone out, zone back in => in 95% out of 100 cases he will end up in an empty map – farm away.

These people gladly stomped over us, disregarded requests in map chat to rez people, are still unwilling to change to a new map even though the map is at 80% which most likely will lead to a breach fail.. You get the point.

But what ticked me off most of all, was that Anet player was with them. So that is OK with Anet – players ruining other players experience.

I feel my 1h was soundly wasted.
I also feel there should be a complaint channel.

This player promptly scapered when I mentioned in map chat that Anet player was with the zerg, so I don’t have their name, or I’d have reported them in-game and wouldn’t post here. Not really sure how to make this reach intended recipients. Because I think Anet should show more consideration towards its customers and players representing Anet should likewise.

I frankly feel insulted. Thanks for reading.

Gimli.9461

I honestly prefer 1 – or at least you need take a look at your RNG;
I never get any drops whatsoever, and afaik drops aren’t affected by MF so my Luck MF of 124% shouldn’t theoretically put me as inferior in Teq or other chest drops to players with Luck of over 200%

However it makes me feel rather cheated when I see a person get 5 ascended gear boxes on subsequent Teq runs – it makes me think you are already skewing in favor of a person who runs Teq every day, which is the only way tbh for me to make myself feel any better.

If your RNG would be a bit less R , at least checking that all drops don’t go to 10 people and others are left in the mud, I’d like that.

As for tokens – that’s just a grind and I’d assume right away the only way for me to get stuff is using tokens, because I never get any drops. And those ppl that do get drops – that’s just cheating :P And totally unfair. If you modified your RNG to reward people with an occasional drop, while also adding some kind of tokens – I think that’d be the best.

Also you need to remove RNG from black lion chests scrap tickets, because I get 1 in 5-10 chests, while people reporting getting one every 2nd chest – which again makes me feel like the player who is unlucky all the god kitten time.
And I don’t know who in their right mind is going to buy black lion keys for gems if that scrap isn’t even going to drop. Those black lion skins are sitting there useless and I’d much prefer I could buy them for gems than the stupid RNG on scrap, since I can only buy keys with gems anyway. You’d rake in way more money from gems I think if there was a guarantee that I get that skin, eg 1 scrap ticket per chest or some such. Meh.

I can’t even log in to this forum to post this, what a day.

Nerfing might in PvE makes 0 sense to me when all you have to do to for some of the most difficult things is bring a mesmer who knows when to put a reflect bubble up. Might or no might, Lupi loses 1/3rd of his health from his own damage lol.

If they worried about intended mechanics not triggering/getting fought thru due to excessive damage, I don’t see how nerfing might 35 to 30 fixes it. If they bothered to explain the reasons why they doing it – that’d be nicer.

Meh. I’m happy it’s not 35 to 15 tbh.

Mobs in Starter Zones Lie

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gimli.9461

I find this mob ‘rebalancing’ ridiculous. I am getting owned repeatedly by level 9ish golem in metrica who launches his sequence of barrage at me – if he executes the entire thing I go down. And I don’t have weapon swapping yet, or skills, to counter that (only dodging – so I have to not dodge on other enemies that are with him to survive). So unless I’m fighting with a weapon that has an interrupt, I’m doomed.

Also I’ve been repeatedly stunned by lower level mobs, having 0 skills that break stunner (because I have 0 skills). Too funny.

With taking away so many things at lower levels they actually made things harder lol. Which I kind of like. They just need to stop touching the game, I swear.

PS: Just want to add what I said before: Instead of taking away things, Anet should focus on teaching new players things like interrupts and combo fields.

[Vote]Hidden Collections - Dulfy or Discover?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Gimli.9461

unfortunately if you don’t use dulfy you will never finish those collections. the TP players use dulfy to buy up every item you will need and relist it for 100x the price. If you aren’t fast enough using dulfy then those collections will be out of reach for you.

But I don’t think so!
Because I will spend quite a bit of time trying to discover things (and I don’t have days to play the game tehe), by the time I’m at a point where I start to look at collections where I have to purchase things (something I’d be unable to make myself? I have all the crafting maxed out, so it’s the just the mats that will rise in price) – prices should be back to normal. Sure they might be higher, but it’s a good thing that more items are now in demand. Better for economy.

I really am not going to rush for anything just to save some gold, and ruin my game experience. I absolutely love the fact I have to collect all the junk items (I thought that collection would be complete for me as I have a ton of characters) – and I LOVE that it’s reset so I have to go and find each one. The feeling of accomplishment is just so much greater when you discover /make things yourself and work for them, that’s what gives me the kick.

If I rush for it now, sure I’ll have the collection, but also a big big feeling of having achieved very little.

I could compare it to dungeon running. Say Anet released a new challenging dungeon tomorrow (I know, painful topic :P). Wouldn’t you try to figure out how to beat it yourself first? That’s why people are asking for challenging content, is it not? Part of the fun is to gather your buddies and go and try to beat it yourselves.
After a while yes you might give up and look up the strategy. But looking it up right away – ruins the fun.

I know lots of people will just look it up and race themselves into exhaustion completing these things, and then will complain about bugs and whatnot. It’s a pity really because if you do not hurry anywhere – you can enjoy the feature so much more.

To be fair, Golem Chess is kinda annoying as a heart.

I do think it’s a cool minigame, but it really shouldn’t be the first heart.

But it was only one of the 3 (maybe more) ways to do the heart! You didn’t have to play it

Honestly, I think Anet should be focusing not on dumbing things down and changing things that are fine, but educating new players better. For instance:

Food. I , being a veteran, run my lowbies equipped with a stack of T-Bone STeak, which gives +20 power, has no level requirement, and can be purchased in plains of ashford.
This makes a HUGE difference to survivability.

So instead of making things stupider, why don’t Anet place a good food vendor at the start of the map and add a tutorial on that?
Or why don’t they add a good tutorial on Combo Fields and conditions?

It took me as a new player ages to understand how to use these things properly.
Or a good tutorial on vistas?

But no lets take away all the skills introduce them one by one and not really add anything good.

Graphics! (The best out of any game pretty much, even most single player ones)
Combat! (Very engaging and dynamic)
Convenience perks – trading post, inventory management, this mmo strives to make life easy for you, not hard.
Casual player targeting – you don’t have to feel you must log on every day to stay viable. You can even go take vacation and travel for a month and come back to the game no problem.

Out of all mmos I played and saw, this is still my absolute #1.

The reason community is angry is because some changes in this feature pack don’t make sense to them as veteran players, and they’d rather see efforts be spent on creating new content catering to their wants.
Also some changes occurred to existing content that seem completely unjustified, so you will see a lot of anger. Should die out in a month.

I don’t think this game’s dying. I see ton of people all over the place, the servers are full.
I think the fact this game lets you do what you want and how you want it ensures the steady population. (I’m no expert though)

Unfortunately they copy &pasta some appletrees from Queensdale which look really out of place in the otherwise alien landscape of Caledon Forest.

In the Plains of Ashford they added two new hearts. One is placed at the cow ranch right next to the ramp that leads up to the Black citadel and involves killing spiders, killing wurms and putting hay into the troughs.
The second one is where the skill challenge takes place (where the skritt have their hideyhole in the wall). Involves killing skritt and firing cannons.

I’m sure there are more changes in the other starting zones.

That’s great, I will for sure go check them out, I think I’ll do the low level zones sweep on this character first thing to check out collections that pop up in there and the changes.

It’s good to hear some changes are good – additions. Additions are gooood! Dumbing down is baaaaad (and not worth spending dev power on, come on).

What did you do to Metrica Province

In my experience when you’re confused in this game you have to go back to heart and read. I do realize it’s too much to ask though of the latest generation. I won’t be surprised if next change will make levelling from 1 to 10 be a game where you are presented with left and right arrow, and have to press the corresponding arrow on your keyboard when one of them flashes green :P

And all the vistas are going to be moved to the ground level, in a neat row, because they are too hard to reach currently.

I was confused for the longest time about vistas. That surely means they must be either removed entirely or made very easily accessible (this is sarcasm, btw).

And whyyyyyy? hands to the sky

I rolled a new character to experience the levelling changes, an asura.
Who makes these decisions? So far I’ve done 3 hearts, am on fourth (the oozes one), and I have a few questions:
- Why would you dumb down the content of the race that’s smart by lore?
- Why did you turn off the golem chess?
- Why is the heart to fill containers with electricity so annoying now? I much preferred the mechanic of the mobs dropping the orb, which then I could use to fill the tank or to knock down foes (in the latter case feeling incredibly smart for finding such a use for the item). Now I get the annoying lightning on my person and have to run top speed to find a container to get rid of it before it drives me insane.
- You moved the progeny heart – that was exciting. That shows me you can change heart contents. So that’s a good thing, kinda.
- But why did you empty the little lake? I suppose this is because it’d be too overwhelming for new players to do under water combat? You kidding? GW2 is THE ONLY game with a GOOD under water content that I’ve seen and I love it. A new player would be nicely impressed I’d think if they went underwater and saw things to do in there? No? Now it’s a sad sad sad empty lake.
- The heart where you turned into a golem is completely kittened now. There’s no other word for it. It pops this stupid message all the time how your companion is happy, and is equivalent to pressing one button repeatedly (even monkeys don’t do that).
- Why is every merchant in the 1-5 lvl zone now selling colored bags? The battle arena merchants in particular. It was exciting to look at different badges from respective labs once they won the battle, and I expected it to be a collection, and it’s bags (which should be a collection too :P)

I didn’t understand before why the community was so offended at Anet and was asking if Anet thought them kittens. I kind of see it now.

I really don’t know who these changes are targeted at, I really don’t know who makes these decisions, and this makes me sad. I don’t really care much, I realize only a few people like me come to this early content to see if they can find smarter ways to do these hearts etc. But really why even waste your time doing these things?! I dread to go and see what changes were done to other zones (I hope not too many)

Again it probably doesn’t matter. It is assumed players only do these zones once and don’t care about them. Well why then remove things? Yes some of these hearts were confusing, especially to people trying to rush through them, but they gave the zone flavor. The right flavor.

100% agree – there has to be a way to turn commander tags off.
When I try to enjoy the scenery and immerse myself, I really hate seeing the tag through walls and time and space.

Are you excited for the Feature Pack?

Very excited! About to pee myself in fact. Keep opening launcher to check if it’s out, can watch it download while I work. %)
I watched the WoodenPotatoes preview yesterday and I can’t wait. Collections, wee! Going to roll a lvl 1 warrior, because, despite all the 80s I got, none of them is a warrior. I finally shall give in to the warrior trend. Will level him up 1 to 80, check out the levelling changes, while doing collections. Going to be grand.

I would like to report that my status now changed from very unhappy to reasonably happy :P , and that I shall be rolling a lvl 1 on the day the changes go live, and I only wish that I could OPT OUT of the collectibles achievements being given to me retroactively so I can discover while levelling from 1 all the items for the first time!!

Which will also be enhanced by the fact they changed levelling experience so it’ll be interesting to experience that.

No, not happy here at all. With GW2. Was all hyped, now I feel like there’s nothing worth playing at the moment.
Very happy with Sims 4, my little SimCity city I built as part of a russian project map, and my month of Wildstar subscription. lol.

Oh boy! I love this game exactly for this, first and foremost. I just recently hit 999 screenshots in my folder (and the game wouldn’t let me take anymore, so I copied the folder and started fresh). I used to have bad specs, then upgraded my machine a year ago and now I’m enjoying max settings with supersample.
This is why I feel so bad when I don’t feel like I want to play the game – feels like nothing to do in the game. Man, have 12 character slots and a slew of characters and no desire to play because of their Fresh Start announcement. Sad really.
