As of today it provides 1 stack of 3-second Stability on entering Death Shroud.

Not even mentioned in the patch notes.

If you skip the launcher with command line switches you can get the game to launch even with sweetfx d3d9.dll in the bin folder and retain sweetfx functionality

Looks like i was right and people misinterpreted the blink changes. ;>

It looks like a QoL fix to prevent wasting your blinks when it would fail to teleport.

Nope our place is glass in mid to high tier pvp. You will realize this eventually.

I’m gonna go with Speed on this one. I personally don’t see the value of a condi necro in high tier pvp, as warriors and eles will just shrug off any condis they are thrown at. Power necro on the other hand is pretty good in this meta. They aren’t hard countered by dps guard like condi necro is, and can pretty much destroy everything meta and can survive pretty well. The only real problem is getting focused, however I find that with running 4 4 0 0 6 and 2 spectrals allows me to tank 2-3 people for an absurd amount of time. I do have to give up close to death, but I would rather survive being focused then fall over and die in about 10 seconds.

I think there was a debate long ago as to what people preferred on the highest teams – with them stating that the nature of Conditions can be bypassed by quick burst – hence why a perfectly played burst comp would be most desirable…

But do not be fooled however – I think NeXeD might refer the Terror Necromancer to be a glass build as well, which it is… Maybe not the amulet, but the traits and utilities reflect the glassy nature of the build, with conditions as a burst rather than a ramp up to do damage over time…

I play on the EU servers as well, and the only Condi Necros I come across are Henry, Prototype and myself (hah) – there are a lot more (Bad) Power Necromancers about really…

As for Rangers, only when it is the daily I see more than one per match… I have seen tons and tons of Engineers, Eles and Med Guardians – Shoutbows to a lesser extend…

So yea, either alternative reality, or you are extremely selective as to what you state here

Current meta?

- Lower tier; doesn’t matter… You see everything, from Clerics Thieves (Yes, had a guy angrily whispering me it is a good spec), Eternity Warriors and Double Incinerator Thieves…
Also, special mention for the heroes running Sword/Axe Warrior

- Mid tier; basically people who copy-pasted a build from Metabattle and think they are the bomb. Run a lot of Celestial, but got no clue how to maximize what their respective classes are capable off – result in one D/D Ele getting crushed by the other in but a few minutes, since one is capable of rotating their skills better than the other… Sadly, Celestial does hide too many flaws, so these people do not die that quickly when not pressured right.
Also, people running Lich Form a lot… Because of #1

Mid-High tier; People who know what is up, but are too lazy to form a team. Also the fiercest competitors I run into. Run a mix between Celestial and Zerk (or even Carrion) depending on the class

High Tier; Celestial and whatever you are good at.


Lots of boons, Poison everywhere (Sigil of Doom), Immobilize spam, Burning spam and a lot of particle effects…

Which is kind of my point. Most and (not all) other classes have builds that don’t require baby sitting or building an entire team around to make work. People aren’t a fan of mesmer in their team because they feel its going to force them to change their build/or class just to make sure that mesmer can stay alive long enough to do its job.

I can kind of emphasize with this considering that I love playing nearly every class, with a main top three being Ele, War and Necro…

The latter of course is something I only use under special conditions, and if these are not met in the team, I will switch to a class that fits the comp better… It sometimes does annoy me however, since I get the feeling as if I cannot rely on some people to do well (Mostly counts for pugs, and less so in premades), or if the enemy team has some notorious players which know the weakness of the class, making me food…

However, I do believe that if you can find the right people to play with, your frustrations can suddenly turn into joy again, as you maximize your capabilities to the max – And this is something I rarely achieve on most classes (Especially if I just play Rezzbot or Super-Soaker with waterfields here and there)…

And who knows what HoT and Stronghold will bring – despite the Shield not being the most attractive thing, the Specialization might just be your ticket to become a force to be reckoned with (I personally hope on time-based magic) – or the class balance might just turn into favour of the classes who need to be worked around with at the moment, with you having an edge already however considering you know your class like no other

Whoever stands in the well at the moment it is cast gets the cleansing buff for the full duration even if they step out of the well. Only if you walk in later you get a 1 sec buff per pulse.

Also, chilled also turns into vigor as well and I believe it has a higher cleansing priority than bleeding.

Oooh, that is something I did not know, and is actually quite good
It is what I get from playing War and Ele again for some time :P

Means I can with some minor communication let my mates get the full benefit – I am quite convinced personally

(Also, S-Walk kind of helps me get over the loss of Traveler Runes which I used for so darn long :< )

This thread does not serve as a thread to complain about the Vertical Ports getting reworked

Alright, in the very much existing chance that Flesh Worm will become not as usable as most people desire it to be – what do you want to run as an Alternative Stunbreak? Of course, none will teleport you out of combat giving you room to breathe, but it can be useful for others to state your preferences.

Well of Power – Already used by many players, and rightfully so. The stunbreaks usually comes with Vigor, Protection and Aegis since the three conditions (Bleed, Vulnerability and Burning) are quite apparent in the meta. That is, if you stay inside the well of course. The drawback of this particular one however is that it apparently does not protect you from being launched (Or at least, this was so last time I used it)
Cooldown untraited: 50s

Plague Signet – Which some people have discussed over the past few days. Suffers from some typical “issues” which makes it sometimes a bit undesirable (Much like Arcane Thievery), but is extremely potent if you want both a Stunbreak and an offhand that does not have a Condi-Transfer.
Cooldown untraited: 60s

Spectral Armour – That thing that makes you want to get hit – comes with free Protection, and synergizes well in a Spectral build with both S-Walk and S-Armour. Drawback of that being that it might need the Spectral Traits to peform to it’s best, which some builds do not allow you to – however, neither do both of the other two stunbreaks.
Cooldown untraited: 50s

Personally – I think I will play around with WoP, since it fancies me the most if I can get the full benefit off… We might even see a significant change to the stability it (is supposed) to grant with the upcomming Stability change.

You gave “Evidence” which is not in any way related to this game or it’s predecessor…

GW2 is not WoW, and neither will it ever cater to the same crowd of people since the gameplay and the core of the combat system is vastly different…

If you are unaware, which you are considering you use arguements with a nice amount of “Shifts” to emphasis on “Your truth” rather than what reality brings, Stronghold has more ties to Guild vs Guild The Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood than a traditional Moba to be fair, and saying this gamemode FAILED (shift for more emphasis, did I do it right?) is just an ignorant statement…

Also, just because in your eyes and evidence this gamemode will “Fail” – what will Anet do? Not release it because you don’t want it? Jolly, that will be for the best – maybe they need to push the still unknown release date even more because apparently a guy with a Glass Ball and Amazing past experiences about a Game that has no ties to GW2 says it will be bad and they need to release some other gamemode… Somehow…

Complaining about a gamemode that has not been released yet, and had thus no impact on the competitive scene whatsoever… Yet, said gamemode is bad and doomed to fail, said by someone with the following in his signature:

+1 for dueling in the mists.
+1 for 3v3 or 2v2 deathmatch

I think this is a classic “It is not what I wanted! Give me what I want because I want it!!”

You know this is a not thing that has suddenly become an issue with the “Cele bandwagon” right? In the months before the cele / might rune patch when ele was nearly non-existent in teams, the next least represented class was mesmer.

Of course, I never stated otherwise… But are you going to deny that Mesmer does have it’s strengths and benefits within a (Coordinated) team? Unlike Ele at that time, which was burst or be forgotten, and playing burst gave them both no role , and they were made food for Thieves (similar issues ey?)

Or go back to Pax long ago, you had TP keep losing scrims to CC before the EU qualifiers, and eventually Xeph switched to thief 2 or 3 weeks before the qualifiers, and TP started winning (and then won the qualifiers), with a guy who was clearly less able on his thief he had played 3 weeks than his mes he played over a year, but was more effective.

I have no notion of this considering I did not follow the scene that much – regardless, looking at the past and saying “See, we got it tough” is not an arguement for the current state of the Mesmer (Necromancer and Ranger) within PvP
Because if we talk about the past, then the distant one proved that Mes+Thief with a Bunker Guardian proved to be incredibly potent in the EU meta, adopted by many teams (Purple Smokers, 55 HP Monks, TCG and Made in Meta come to mind) – which results in an endless back and forth

The game is poorly balanced it is simply as that, the differences in risk, when the reward is the same (and often not even that) are ridiculous, in every comparable game I’ve played if a class was high skill cap or had team “requirements” if it produced the results then good players/teams/guilds would use it, this game is no different, people don’t use mes for the simple reason it is not up to it.

Hey look, in my original comment I did say something about the nature of these classes being too reliant on team peels, which mean I agree with you in a sense… However, I get sick of people saying It is not working because X-comp is better Q.Q – When this is clearly not the case when you look at the “EU Top”, featuring 4(!) teams with different comps giving each other a beating every week with no clear winner, of which one even has a Bunker Guardian and Mesmer who are, according to the forum community, “out of the meta”…

People are so sickenly obsessed as to what about 4-5 teams accomplish that they forget that they are not these people! If the “top players” all massively decided to give up on their dedication for certain classes, then we would only see mirror comps, boring and stale fights and no, and literally no improvement on the meta…

Yes – The class is far too dependent on a team to do well
No – This is not an excuse to pretend as if the end of the world is neigh

Meh, aside from me not overreacting like that since I do not play in the “big leagues”, this is all due to the class(es) being overreliant on their teammates…

I mean go figure, Mesmer and Necromancer both play burst builds with little self-sustain (Condi Necro is a Condi Burst build), making them reliant on positioning and team peals… Now, get an Ele in your team who does not grasp this, never switching to the right attunements to protect you, and suddenly you have become a “Liability”… Same arguement goes with a Thief; have yours keep the one from the enemy team in check, if he can’t do that, well, good luck…
Compare this to say the burst a Med Guardian can put out while still sustaining themselves (with roughly the same mobility issues as a Necro) – the class itself has no hardcounters as a Mesmer does have against a Thief, and it is capable of fighting some of the bruiser classes on the node at least on par… Sometimes even capable of winning…

Ranger suffers from being too specialized… They are either a node protector, with less mobility than a D/D Ele, and less team support – or they are a Ranged Burst class, that is not well suited to play on nodes… There is no middle ground that is capable of supporting your team, staying on the node and giving the right extra pressure…


However, and going back on not being a top player, this is something that you should not take into consideration ever. I hate people saying “Play something else” because with this attitude we would’ve had a tripple Warrior, Guard and Thief meta or something stupid like that because people do not have the guts or the understanding to man up and become a team player.
When you are playing a Mesmer, your team needs to understand this. It is something I try to do whenever I am playing my Ele or Warrior and one of my partners is playing Mesmer. Peel right for the said Mesmer, and it will become the worst thing for the enemy team.
I don’t know your level of play, but people saying “Play something else” is just flat-out dumb. Yes, of course Mesmer, Necromancer and Ranger is more punishing than other classes in the game, but are we all gonna jump the Cele bandwagon and pretend it is the best thing since sliced bread, or are we gonna improve at what we are good at, and prove that the classes are playable?

Also, not to be rude or anything, but your teammates telling you to switch classes, means they know little about protecting you – which means that in the long run, they will still not be able to play their respective roles well… Unless your teammates consist of 2 Rangers and 2 Necros respectively

I love the so called “We” (which can relate to you and the OP, or everyone) – so here, have a few quotes from “We”:

- We like Conquest
- We like 5v5
- We don’t need bigger groups
- We are legion
- We like to shove opinions into people’s throats as if it is the truth!


Sidenote, last WTS actually got a bunch more people checking out the gamemode and learning it, so this game is far from “Dying Q.Q”
Also, Stronghold got a lot of attention outside of the scene

With all the stuff on the horizon™ I am inclined to disagree and just wait and see… Balancing for the sake of but a few months, while a whole new gamemode is going to be introduced, with a new class, class mechanics and bunny ears just seem a bit off to me…

I am well aware that these three classes suffer a lot within the current “PvP Meta” but this mostly counts for Conquest, and mostly because of their current skillset as opposed to other classes…

Necro has teleport to previous place, something like Mesmer’s portal. But it’s nowhere close to Shadowstep skills that Thief has.

Spectral Walk is nice, but the port with Worm is quite the dealbreaker once you learn to set it up
I use both, so hey

I know that Thief has more vertical ports than Mesmer (Phase retreat, Blink not counting Portal) and Necromancer (Flesh Worm) – but those classes rely way more on the positioning than a Thief does… Usually, the Thief only uses these ports to either get rid of the positional advantage of a Mesmer or Necro alike, or to increase it’s capability to roam around the map… Whereas the latter will not be completely removed, and thus Thief stays in the one role it has

I don’t want to say that Thief is not touched, but I do say that there are more classes than Thief that suffer from this change if implemented, due to these classes relying on their positioning for their sustain

Glad you’re familiar with the expression, but if you have some sort of data to back up whether the positive or negative experience is “the rule”, then I’d love to see it.

However, the best you’ll probably get is anecdotal evidence from a few angry posts on the Internet…well, I think that’s where productive conversation ends.

I guess, it is indeed mostly following the trends of threads (granted, it is like NeXeD says, if it works then there is no reason to complain) – however, to me the experience is really quite awful, and far worse than it was…

I think ever since two weeks or something, my general experience dropped several feet, and it was also in this time where I suddenly had matches from people way beyond my league, as to people who were new – and for neither of these people is it a fun experience (Heck, I even call it out most of the times that I lack experience compared to others)

But, following NeXeD’s reply:

Sounds like EU maybe had population issues? I see people from high level teams occasionally as well and I even had some ranger that killed beast at begging of game then kittened at me after I abandoned him at mid because he was glass it was a 4v2. I ended up decapping far and holding a 2v1 for a minute before fgsing away.

This is actually a fairly interesting thing to me… I mean, I figure the Matchmaking uses the same metrics for NA as wel as EU – and maybe this is why we see a difference in experiences…

I know that it is difficult plowing through dishonest comments and people complaining for the sake of it, but I am genuinly put off most of the times due to being thrown from one end to another… If I would just be capable of “sticking” to one side, I would have less issues with it, but it being so irregular is putting me off…

If the difference is indeed that EU has a smaller PvP community, or whatever reason it might be that causes these irregular matchups, then it might help the Devs in their quest to get it straight for both sides of the Ocean…
Like I mentioned before, I did not have that many issues before a certain time, so I know it is possible for the matchmaking to properly work

Looking at the score at the end of a match is a good way to check for blow-outs, but I cannot say I have had many of those… It is mostly me feeling out of place, something I did not experience ever since a few weeks

I too have had a fantastic time in pvp and I soloq like 90% of the time….. I don’t think any of us are the exception. I think the people who don’t enjoy are more likely to whine one the forums than people are to come on the forums and say how wonderful it is =)

I wish I could say the same, but I seriously do not think I am as good as the people from 55HP Monks, or as bad as people duo/tripple capping

Yet the matchmaking seems to think I am… It’s confusing, and sometimes downright frustrating… I don’t want to spend an entire match either lying on the ground, or picking people off… And the strangest thing is, whenever I do play within say a three-man party or more, this seems to be way less prevalent than Solo-ing (but this may have to do with the frequency of which I Solo compared to Teaming up)

The exception that proves the rule

To me, SoloQ-ing has wielded the same kind of aggrovating matches as many others here voice… Now, I would not say that yours are invalid, but I do think that the majority of the matches (by my own experiences and from talking to others) are just not well balanced…

Sometimes I do have good matches, but the ones that feel whack are just really whack – either completely in my favour or in the enemies… Some other things are like matches that seem close in numbers, but are played with a level that are simply depressing (double capping, 6 Rangers etc.)

well…about esl, let’s say did atm, since almost everyone just lost the will to put some effort into pvp, everyone just going “for fun” atm but not for sure wasting time training rotations and stuff for basically no rewards

So basically, what I get from you is that you want some kind of “Mid-Tier” reward – something that says “Hey, I am above average, but not yet there”, but will clear progression, something to work for…

Do you think this can be achieved in say the things we have in game such as Titles or Skins? Or is it really more about something like a League System, with fitting rewards for the leagues? (More gold, gems, bunny-ears etc)

Because as I read it, there is just nothing for you and your team to work for, which destroys the enthusiasm to progress to the highest level (Which I can emphasize with, I got the same “problem”)

You are biased dude, and being biased is not a good basis to discuss – it will literally be an endless battle with words of saying “You are wrong” “No, you are wrong!”, and I do not have the time, or the patience to deal with that…

If you truly believe that Anet cares more about one mode than the other (or profession, or weaponskins, or bunny ears etc), then you need to learn a whole deal about delivering products that took years of development and time from a large company, and that they don’t want to have their works to be in vain…

Ark here is in a group that does (did?) some ESL weeklies as well by the way, so he is no stranger to the highest level of PvP… The question he raised was What do we play for , and basically it can be dumbed down to one thing:

  • Having fun

The method of “Having fun” differs per person, as I get a lot of fun meeting people and just trying the best I can to win a match, but this alone cannot, and is not a way to keep people driven in the game. This statement holds true to the people who like PvP, but got no “carrot to chase”


What can be improved
Especially to help with getting the fun back;

  • Leaderboards, the numerous threads about it already signify the fact that these things are not funciton in a way that stimulates competitive play and maintaining your rank, rather, it prefers Quantity over Quality, which is not prosperous for the longlivety of the gamemode
  • Matchmaking, besides complaining a lot about it, you do see that the Devs are working on it… However, as it stands now, the system does not distinguish Experienced and Less Experienced well
  • “Imbalances”, but I take this one with a grain of salt considering that an Expansion is on the rise
  • Carrots, titles, skins, w/e’ers – name it… Something that you can work for and proudly show off… Many times have I seen the suggestion for “Tiered Profession Titles” and why not? It showcases that the person in question has worked hard to get a title that shows dedication

Also with wardrobe change, oh guess who gets the most expensive skins for free without having to purchase/craft it with gold? Guess who gets legendaries/precursors for free by playing the game mode that they enjoy? Certaintly not pvers/wvwers because Anet doesn’t give those out to these modes.

I see, you are sour – Anet birthed three babies, of which non feel like they get what they want…
And is a specific section wrong? Do dungeoners need to kitten because they had their Fractured Update? (hahaha) Does WvWvW not get the most attention because it had like another map? (You know, that champfarm map)

Get your head out of the sand and look dude, all the gamemodes need improvement respectively, but Anet is not playing favouritism – if you think they are, then sorry, this conversation is hereby over and I will go back to ignoring the forums

Guess who’s getting a new pvp mode?

Everyone in the game – it is not made to look like Conquest, so it is there to enjoy for the demographic who likes Stronghold

Guess who didn’t have to face literally the same match up for months? Guess who’s reward levels were reset, never really given a leaderboard after promise, and force to grind through RNG to get skins that they wanted?

I will once more say that you are sour, and are unwilling to see that all gamemodes need to have some improvement (5-man instanced encounters, WvWvW and PvP alike)

Oh and btw by being extremely toxic to new players or existing players that do try pvp, you are contributing to decline of pvp population in general.

What the actual hell? Where did I ever state I am toxic to new players? I welcome them with open arms and will teach them if they are willing to learn – Because I know for a fact that some people are closet PvP-ers with a lot of hidden talent, which will help to grow the community

I said that toxicity exist everywhere… I have seen people leaving after a month because they got called several things for not knowing a dungeon encounter well… But the PvE/WvWvW community is a saint right, and this person was obviously lying then, no?

Maybe you should actually fix that as pvp community instead of whining how no one plays pvp because anet doesn’t care.

And you need to take a breath and stop being biased… I am not biased towards PvP – I am discussing the aspect of PvP being here without incentives because this is the flipping PvP forum, but trust me, if you want me to I can write a book about the 1.5g you get from Fractals 50, while spending the same time in the open world can grant me more by mindlessly spamming #1 on my Guardian

Everytime Pvers/wvwers complain, the usual comments are “pve heros” and “wvw zerging noobs”. Yet when pvers/wvwers try to talk about pvpers being outrageously entitled, suddenly you become really defensive. Even the OP’s post reeks of how much he looks down at pve, but yet no one really points it out.

Factually, toxicity exists in every gamemode – I have seen people getting outted for being WvWvW scrubs in Arah over a year ago… Frankly, neither of these people are in the right, but neither is it right to nitpick about it – ignore it, move on, and find a solution rather than throwing dirt back, but that is generally harder than doing so ey?

Also when you said you frequent fractal 50, do you mean you run with organized guilds/friends and try to complete it with maximum dps or do you just pug and “play however you want” until people carry you?

Full guild groups more than often, not completely maximized due to lack of communication with some people, but still running optimized builds for the encounters… Also, I don’t let people carry me, I am skillfull and knowledgable enough to know encounters and how to tackle them (Recently playing my Ele more in it, which has a role, a purpose, and if you fail you kill your team)
I think you only asked this question because you assumed I was like some random guy who runs weird and non-optimized builds or something, but I am a person who plays to win, which means being an asset, which means optimizing builds for any encounter on any area of the game… Something a lot of people fail to grasp, thinking they can overcome some challenges by spamming rotations rather than learning encounters or anticipating movement from players

PvP already has more than enough incentive since it involves real money and chance for being famous on media hype.

A guy like me is decent enough to play in mid-tiers, but will get crushed by the people at the top ( check this to see what I mean )
There is no “incentive” for me to get better and get all the “media hype” and bla bla bla, because it is not relevant for my current level of play, and with no incentive to improve other than being a top player, I got nothing to work for… I play to win and because I like the game, nothing else

You play pvp for a long time, you are good at it, congratulation. Now try another aspects that GW2 offers, and if you don’t think there are any hard contents, well you are definitely wrong.

I frequent Fractals 50, was in a WvWvW Guild for nearly a year and now nearly permanently residing in the mists…

It is not about the game lacking too much hard content, there is plentiful… However, sometimes to do these things you need an incentive and not just some goods (still relevant)

Playing for the challenge is one thing, but that alone cannot be the main thing to keep people hooked… Give them some carrot to chase, something like a stupid title, or at least better matchups and not freaking 3 Daily chasers camping home at the start due to their lack of finer knowledge…

Besides, I don’t see why Ark is not allowed to complain about the mode he is most passionate about… Don’t Dungeon Go’ers do the same?
Voicing opinions, especially ones like these which are a good thing for Anet to look at if they want to keep a certain demographic of people within their game… Help finding a solution rather than pointing at a guy and tell him he is wrong in his opinion

Hmmm… About a year ago I think, I remember fondly getting into a group that featured a Mesmer being more than half decent and teaming up after it :P

Had a bad streak of games on that evening, so the names of the people I played with then were ingraved in my head… Granted, sometimes my mind is playing funky games, but I am 99% sure it happened (and I got someone verifying it as well so yea :P )

If i was still maining mesmer must had been even more than 1 year ago xD And yeah…i was wearing pink before t3 on shatter mes (Pink asura ofc)… I didn’t even remember bout it at first ^^

Hahaha, well time flies for me then, might not be the person who played the longest, but appparently I remember things forgotten in a long time then :P

So yea – meeting people, sometimes for the good, sometimes not so much… But one thing, if not for the people I met, I would not be playing GW2 (PvP)

(And winning, I am fairly competitive)

Because people like me have worked their behinds off to get familiar with with than more class, so that in the odd occasion of pugging with a Mesmer and ending up with 2 Thieves and another Mesmer, you can switch to something that can support your DPS line-up…

That is why, and frankly, I like it this way since it makes the odds of losing somewhat smaller

The Health of PvP

I would like to say that I do like the game, and enjoy playing. There are just some areas that need to be addressed to make the play more enjoyable. I don’t have all the answers that is for sure, but being a rank 80 with a average Leaderboard Rank of 30 I find it frustrating to get Achievement Point chasers in matches, and those players never once hit up PvP before the Professions Daily Patch!

Hello me from another computer;

I raged not too long ago about PvP’s MMR being whack as well (this being one of the many reasons), but I came to realization quickly that nothing much will be done about this…

We have to welcome this new generation of PvP-ers, where we step aside when someone is capping the point, let people win if they run their specific class daily – because honestly, what else is there to do?
You got those reward tracks you might think, but even losing will grant you enough to drown in blues and greens…

I think I will play competitive “Getting a log-in reward” for a while… Maybe after some weeks I will found some newborn hope for this, but as long as there are no fixes on the horizon, everything is off the table, and I don’t think it will be fixed soon™

The expansion this year will turn every concept of balance we have on its head, so we will perhaps even see an alternative to D/D Cele in PvP.

This…

I stopped with my regular debates/complaints prior to the announcement, and got genuinly surprised when they said they wanted to introduce a new class and new class mechanics – something that will, no matter how impactful it will feel to your class, throw balance into the blender, and create a delicious mess of things…
It will take months before people even realize the true potential of a Revenant alone I suspect, and with the specializations, you can see a lot of chaos going to be created…

The concerns might be real for the current meta, but changing it for but a few months makes no sense either… Who knows, maybe everyone will be complaining about Shaman’s Druid being the most broken thing since Dhuumfire

I just have a strong and forceful opinion that no one has yet been capable of dealing with (aside Drarnor, because he has more knowledge about stuff than I will ever have) – I can easily see why you would initally dislike me because I never portrayed myself as a likeable person, but rather as one who you nearly cannot argue with

A nature which is not handy on the forums, so I have been keeping a low(er) profile… I don’t engage much anymore in conversations, and usually say what I want to say (like now), but deep down I want the same as everyone, which is a healthy game-enviroment in which everyone can enjoy what they want, and in your case it is playing your Guardian

Thing is, I don’t believe in a “One Ring to rule them all”…

I am a loyal watcher of the ESL weeklies and Go4’s if I got the time, and the one thing I noticed is that on the EU side it has never been a one sided win for quite a while!

One week 55 wins, the other TCG takes it, and then the French team, oRNg… The beauty of it all? They all play different comps, with different strategies and setups!

Yes, Elementalists have overshadowed the role of the Guardian somewhat, but I have not seen people stop trying, or adjusting their comps to find a more suitable way…

Now, you got two options; Copy those who are succesful and become good with that, or find the golden setup for you to win!
Yes, I am guilty when I say that I mostly Solo with my Warrior, or roll it in a team where I do not trust our squishier classes, but at the same time it does not stop me from running something different sometimes, of which sometimes the results vary from fantastic wins, to immense blunders…

If Eya loves Guardian, then support her into her quest to make it work! It is the easy way out to say “Nah, you should roll an Ele instead” – it might be safe and working, but it does not mean it is a sacred thing that should be followed by everyone!

Play to be an asset, no matter what class you play! Adjust your strategies, make things work! If everyone would walk away by the slightest issues of a class, then we never would’ve seen TCG taking the first ToL, since Mesmers at that time were believed to be not even worth looking at!

Bottom line; Are Guardians viable? Maybe, but it all comes down to the player to make it happen, and I believe you can do it if you are truly passionate about your class!

Praying for better days is not going to help… You and your teammates might have concluded that Eles give more support than Guardians do, however, this has not stopped 55hp Monks from running theirs, and still claiming victories from time to time, even giving oRNG a hard time in the last Go4

Even the Frenchies who change their name as much as my gf changes her clothes have had several good runs with a guardian or even multiple

Don’t give in, fight it! Become better, and show how it can be done! Don’t be stuck on what is best on paper, live the dream and make reality fight the numbers!

(I frequent 6 out of 8 classes myself :V )

Of which these Quick Matches are now just Hotjoin 2.0, only with slightly more annoyance since you expect at least some decency in Ranked…
