All amulets should be given 4 stat types instead of 3. IMO they should also make an offensive stat version of celestial amulet, trade 40% or so of the defensive stats for offensive stats.

Upon close inspection of the teaser pic I believe the warhorn will summon main hand conjure like weapons. We might still get a sword.

In regards to scepter auto attacks.

Change air #1 to a three hit channel that starts casting instantly and takes 3/4 seconds finish to casting, the first hit is weakest and the last is strongest. I feel like scepter needs better synergy with the healing signet and this change would help. Rework dmg accordingly.

Rework fire #1 auto attack. Allow this to be cast in 360 degrees.

Rework earth #1 into a 1/2 cast timer, rework dps and dmg accordingly. Like I said earlier this is in regards to the healing signet.

Three out four of the scepter #2 skills are extremely lack luster. Here is what I believe needs to happen to them.

Fire #2 becomes a ground target skill. The cast time is instant, the dragon tooth it self takes 1 second to land.

Water #2 becomes an instant skill. Revamp this ability to provide an ice wall like telegraph on the floor which is summoned directly infront of the user upon casting. Opponents who walk accross this suffer from a reoccuring chill until they leave the wall, which should have a realatively wide length but short width.

Earth #2 cast time becomes instant and instead of providing toughness, blocks 10% of incoming physical damage. When the secondary is used it drops the defensive effect and fires at the opponent like is does now but also applies a short cripple duration on each hit.

Now theres a good weapon, all hail the balance god.

This weapon is linked to the tempest, its probably going to provide something new and refreshing to an extent. My guess is aoe cc/dps from long range, wait for it, in the form of CONJURED MAIN HAND WEAPONS. Thats my dream anyway.

every #5 skill is a summon that replaces the main hand weapon in combat until you swap attunements. The most powerful one could be in water so you had to trade off heal potential for major dmg while keeping a balance.

Look at the picture of the tempest which gw2 used as a teaser, not only is the tempest holding a warhorn, shes also summoning something, in her main hand.

This would make ele soo much more interesting!

For some classes id say zerker is better for the more confident burster. You dont have to succeed as many times with burst. For example, it could be the difference between a power shatter being able to almost kill or one combo kill a cele ele.

Would be nice to have a supported 1v1 based match mode. Could grab 15 or 20 people and have 1v1s in a coliseum type setting until there was one victor over all. Only problem would be bunker vs bunker never ending so there would have to be some sort of feature that maybe started to eat a % of peoples hp pools after a time limit passed.

It really doesn’t…. Just play a support/tanky build for once. Yes, DPS got higher, but:

1) there are tons of defensive traits that got introduced or buffed, like stoneheart, bunker down, prismatic understanding etc.
2) rez-traits got buffed across the board.
3) secondary rez-skills got buffed/introduced, like feel my wrath, time warp etc.
4) interrupts got buffed and yes, you could use them defensively.
5) More CC got introduced like taunt.
6) Almost every class got more condition-removal.

But ppl run full DPS-builds and get annoyed when they are insta-killed? -.-°

Im going to have to agree with power I dont think dps needs a shave except for perhaps adding a cap to potential burn stacks in pvp.

The build I believe he is refering to can actually be pretty decent at killing mesmers. I think I might even know which engineer he is refering to if hes gettin his butt kicked on a duel server.

That engineer is probably using mortar kit with lyssa runes.

But its better for the mass when a build carries the player. A game that relies on hard training, fast internet lines, strong computers and good reflexes is doomed to shrink and end als small elite Game. If you want fun for the mass of players, its all about build diversity and strenght of counterbuilds. (If you focus on PvP/WvW, for PvE you need content). If you have only a few viable builds for PvP and rely on the above mentioned factors, the game will move into a dead end for power players.

I agree there should still be builds for casual players. Thats why this could be an option for players up for the challenge. It wouldnt be a trait you had to take.

IMO this idea has a few flawes. It would make weaken the arcane trait line or down right obsolete the attunement reduction benefit of it. It would also make the grand master fresh air trait completely pointless

Instead of having it “weaken” the arcana traitline or destroy freshair you could have the tempest recieve this option via a gm trait.

It would be a trade off. More diversity in combo potential in compensation for higher icd for attunement procs. Sword can then truely be all about a skillful assassin type playstyle which really depends on the player to properly execute abilities successfully with tactical play in mind. Much more interesting than relying on a build to carry the player.

I realize there are other factors that need to be considered too… But the class could potentially become soo much more interesting if more complex combos were allowed.

Tempest provides a traitline which offers gm trait to REMOVE the cd on attunement swap but also restricts all on attunement swap procs to a 10-15 second icd.

Would you dig it?

Hell even if it was a 20s icd for attunement procs id still be stoked.

Fresh air builds just simply dont take this trait option.

The objective is to create a playstyle that relies on complex combos.

I think basing some balance decisions around 1v1s is a good start to balancing team play. If one class can absolutely WRECK another effortlessly in 1v1 well its probably going to only get worse when that same class jumps the inferior one vs him in a team fight.

Would also be nice if there was an indication of when the stun was availiable for the mesmer. An aura surrounding the mesmer perhaps, mainly for counter play. This would also help the mesmer tell when it was off its icd. Then how about turning power lock into a instant projectile? It can reach the target just as fast as it does now, I just think an instant stun deserves a little more counter play.

About eles, they had planned a “nerf”: they put Evasive Arcana and Elemental Attunement on the same tier of Arcane magic, forcing them to chose only one of them.

BUT
Eles cry so much for that “nerf” (that only point to make eles unale to be fullbuffed all the time like before the patch and like now, making them OP) that ANet was forced to make Elemental Attunement a minor trait.

If they restore that old fix idea, they will fix the eles once for all.

You mean nerf them into the ground once and for all. I think you would be surprised how much ele relies on that stupid trait along with evasive arcana…

Perhaps all anet needs to do is implement a decent mmr system and afterwards focus on a few balance patches removing all this rng and random nonsense. I bet anet would even sell a few more copies of the game to people making smurf accounts if a great mmr system existed.

I enjoy the faster pace combat of this patch, its not a perfect patch by any means but its a step in the right direction to an extent…

Random condition procs, random damage, all of this randomness is just no good for a mmo game trying to enter a professional scene… Based on the direction it looks like GW2 is heading I can’t help but wonder if the suits over at Anet look into games like DOTA2 and LoL and think to them selves, “Oh alright we’ll just try to be more like this game because its so successful”. If this is the case please stop trying to be something you’re not Arena Net, when it comes to class balance focus on what you have been doing well instead! When it comes to your pvp mode you should focus on building classes which take a tremendous amount of player skill to play perfectly! A proper MMR system would help players fight others among the same caliber.

It would make more sense in my opinion of there were specific skills tied to a trait blind, which were easy to see coming at you so you knew when you were going to be blinded to an extent. Right now there is soo much RNG that can cause some of these blinds it can be completely random.

indeed, 8k fire grab on a celestial that can also apply tons of burning is not op.

Lighter you are a great warrior and I respect you, but if I dueled your warrior on my Elementalist using a celestial amulet, chose the fire trait line which can give me 10% more damage in the fire attunement and 10% more dmg vs a burning target and chose the burning fire trait which allowed me to stack up to 25 might when using cantrips, I probably still would not hit you for 8k with a crit on fire grab, even if you chose the most squishy build I still doubt it. Probably around 6.5k at most and more realistically around ~5.6k with a nice crit and heavy might stacks. Lets not forget if the Elementalist was to even trip over a tiny pebble he may miss that said fire grab since the hit box is very tiny. 8-10k fire grab crits are more than likely marauder or zerker status.

IMO Elementalist damage will be where it should be once burning is toned down. Warriors need a buff IMO.

Except for the fact he actually quit playing ele and demands nerfs on that class too. BTW you definitely do not need to moa + null field to kill an ele, I wouldn’t even recommend using those tools to do it in the first place.

I’m completely okay with the potential burst mesmers can dish out, I’m even alright with the amount of stealth they can obtain with a solid burst build in mind. What I find a little overwhelming is the amount of cc/evasive maneuvers they can obtain while also having that incredible burst damage + stealth.

IMO Confounding Suggestions is a little too strong with power lock. Instant dazes which get turned into stuns provide little to no counter play, its not fun to fight against. Top that all off with a magic bullet(which is also very hard to read and counter with a dodge for example) and you very well may be stunned from 100-0.

Arcane is still way too valuable to ditch for a balanced d/d build. I personally run fire/ water/ arcane for my d/d set up.

Ive tried replacing fire with air but air has two horrible minor traits, one decent adept, one good master, and two decent gms IMO. Air also lacks condition clears and seems to offer less damage for a d/d ele. In other words im very dissapointed with air when I play d/d.

Replacing fire in my build of choice with the earth can be handy if youre trying to make a very bulky bunker. Earth only has a couple traits in the entire line which are subpar. If youre using focus then this traitline is a no brainer!

IMO there are two solid choices for d/d.

Fire/Water/Arcana
Or
Earth/water/Arcana

I also find Fire/Earth/Arcana pretty great if you pick up focus and take the signet trait so you can use your heal. Even though you wont have the water line you wont really lack much condition removal with this set up. You can take the air signet too for a 20s stun breaker which also means one more blind ontop of blinding ashes which I find sooo good.

Btw most of my experience is in spvp. Air might be alright in wvw with condi reduction food + hoelbrak.

If you were a dev working on gw2 for 50+ hrs a week you probably wouldn’t really enjoy spending your free-time playing the game either. Although the devs do seem to have a pretty solid understanding of the current metas. I think its best they base balance around the pro teams gameplay and not the forums, too many people on the forums are not very good at playing the game.

I wish all classes had the potential to be as devastating as a shatter mesmer when it comes to burst, mind you with defense on a somewhat relatively similar line as well if this type of build was chosen (I’m not saying give everyone stealth). Fighting a good shatter mesmer gives me a nice rush.

As someone whose mained ele since beta you’re over-reacting. Ele is not broken or OP, is it strong? yes. Why? because in SKILLED hands it can be a very great class. However I find very few skilled people can play ele right. So anet don’t listen to this guy ele is perfect right now (minus the whole nerf to fresh air builds).

Might want to not forget to mention to tone down burning across the board too.

I actually think the healing signet on warrior could be reduced to a 15 second cd and have the resistance set to 10 seconds or so. I think that would solve a lot of condition problems when not running a shout + warhorn build for example, and make the healing signet worth using more often.

1: Raise the icd of blinding ashes.( Allow a per target cd on blinding ashes instead of an ICD)
2: Raise the icd of soothing ice or remove the regen portion of it.
3: Rework diamond skin so it works as a resistance buff that procs for 4 secs every time you swap into earth while above the 75% health threshold to promote more skillful counterplay.
4: Rework burning across all professions aka scale it down.
5: I say keep the healing/sustain on ele since we have one of the lowest hp pools and armor anyways.
6: Remove protection altogether from the elemental contigency trait since we have enough access to protection anyways. Replace the boon with something else.
7: Rework Ferocious Winds to give ~250-300 healing player to a player using marauders. ( based off precision)
8: Bring back 15 second RTL?
9: Re-work Churning Earth to become useful in more situations?

For as long as there are better players than those ready to make OP claims, we will always have these kind of threads, but as it has been proven countless times already that no amount of nerfs will ever give the chance to bad players to beat a better player.

Are you telling me that you feel like the Elementalist is very balanced when fighting a ranger’s LB or any kind of guardian? I’m really not sure what you’re trying to get at since I main an Elementalist and feel I either need a nerf or some classes need buffs when it comes to some aspects of the game. It probably makes more sense to give the elementalist a little shave in its capabilities instead of buffing other classes which are already doing alright in spvp.

If you want more challenge with ele,take away your energy sigil,your cele amulet,etc. We will see then,how much you cry about eles.
And if you wanna make proper video of players with skills,not just spam,then do that as well. Ranger had free dps on you and he was evading for whatever reason and running around and you also spaming everything. Towards end,where ranger had you low,he started evading and every few seconds he AA you,so you had time to fully heal up again.

If you would like to duel me I could show you just how powerful the class is in game. I’d also like to see you fight the players that were in the video so you can reassess their skill level.

I actually often don’t run cele and challenge my self by running Marauder or even Zerker.

The videos might not be the most credible source to demonstrate counters but none the less it should be pretty apparent to anyone who really knows how to play an Elementalist that the class has a few builds that just run circles around most class/builds. It takes the fun out of the game for me when the game becomes (In many occasions) far too easy to play. I love the Elementalist but I also love feeling like I deserved to win a fight when I do win.

As I said, it needs a skilled necromancer with a good knowledge on ele. But it might be my lack of skill too, all and all I can not claim that I am great. At tops I am above mediocre by a hair strand.
But all this balance changes with blinding ashes trait. It should be nerfed a little bit. By the way, hybrid necro builds are stronger after the patch. Have you tried it? It seems celestial can be meta for not only ele but many other classes due to the changes on stats and damage.

I am terrible on necro, so I have tried very little on the class lol

Alain, one of the best condition necros(terrormancer) I’ve ever met who used to absolutely DESTROY me before the patch can now barely tickle me. Although I should also note that corrupt boon is bugged at the moment and does not convert stability into fear…

I have tested some of the things you said. First of all, rangers suck. We all know that. In a fair fight, ranger needs more skill to beat an ele (wvw is not included. It is an entirely different thing). But in spvp, clever ranger seems to be able to kill a celestial dd ele. All the players nearly had the same skill lvl with their professions in my test. Sorry for not giving a video of it but i really hate videos and recording.

Necro on the other hand, can kill successfully if she does not makes a mistake. Engi, without the grenade bug can also kill you but he must be a perfect engineer with good skills. Interrupt mesmers can kick ele’s tushy, they seem to be annoying now. Other mesmer builds can also do that. I do not know how, but warriors… Did they mutate or something? They are strong now. Not " nerf them omg wtf" but more like " be cautious, there is a warrior heading to you" type. Guardians are not very well balanced against ele it seems, but they do not give up easily. Thief’s are still perfectly well. Considering that it is not their job to go fair 1v1 with you. They can make fair fights unfair easily.

All and all, ele’s are powerful but not godly. Also they do require some skill and knowledge to play so most of the newbies will be killed after their second premature dodge.

In the end it really depends on the players knowledge of professions and her skill. What you were mistaken as imbalanced might be your experience on the profession/other players lack of experience in your or their profession. For my taste, except the blinding ashes trait, ele does not seem to be op at all. Can be put down by players who has knowledge on ele, or some specific builds like interrupt mesmer. But blindind ashes will be a problematic trait if other professions gets nerfed.

Thanks for making me test. It was fun playing several professions and conducting experiments. I can, with my own experience, say that dd ele is strong but not op. (Celestial staff seems to be weaker however)

Alain, one of the best condition necros(terrormancer) I’ve ever met who used to absolutely DESTROY me before the patch can now barely tickle me. Although I should also note that corrupt boon is bugged at the moment and does not convert stability into fear… I’m sure there are some good necro builds out there that do very well against eles, but I have not ran into any of them as of yet.

I agree with the statements you made that I put in bold. Thanks for the feedback. Did you mean guardian does poorly vs ele? Ele counters guardians very well and has for quite some time.
