But how are you sure that they all are “base”? One could be for the specialisation.
skowcia didn’t say BASE, and if one or two were so, what’s the matter? We’re not receiving the revenant before the xpac.
He said 5 legends, 5 traits line and the argued that one trait line is not linked to a legend, but if one of them is a specialisation legend then it means that the argument is invalid.
I see…doesn’t really matter.
I’m sorry but who’s that guy saying?
The first 6 words of the description will answer that for you..
Oh so it’s a guy from ArenaNet. Mhm I thought he wasn’t so I took it for granted guessing it was an irrelevant info (not true)
Yeah. Assuming “this summer” remains the release period, they have until September 22nd to launch. :p
And they have the Australian summer as second release window. The meteorological Australian starts Dec 1st.
It also applies to South America; we’re currently on Winter Season, so if it happens to be released this summer, we’ll receive this winter (we = brazilians)

Ever since the datamine my guess has been that Glint was the elite specialization legend. Although, Ventari with it’s connection to the jungle and the sylvari is also a contender I guess.
Nice observation. I think today’s post is related to revenant’s elite spec, but there’s a huge curve that means I can be really wrong. But I still hope for it!

When the five powers combine…
Think about it, Elementalists have Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. With so much focus on the F skills (as seen with the three specializations they’ve released thus far), it only makes sense that the 5th F skill will be…
HEART!
It’s even in the title of the expansions, Heart of Thorns! And to put further emphasis on the F skills, what if we’re now able to combine different elements to provide different affects with our skills? Add Earth to Fire and now you’re throwing hot coal all over people. Add Water to Wind and you can increase the damage of your lightning attacks by electrocuting everyone standing in the pool of water. And Heart… well, Heart weakens the souls of the enemies, gets them at the core of who they are. It makes them more susceptible to being damaged. Add it to Earth, and Bleeds last longer. Fire is stronger, Water chills and provides more healing.
I know it may seem far fetched, but think about if for a bit, we have strong Mesmer NPCs, Warriors, Rangers, Necros, pretty much everything except for an Ele. So who might be this new Master Ele who can combine all 5 elements at once??
I’m sure you can guess.
Nice guessing
. I saw in a pic the name “The Tempest”, so I pressume the F5 attunement would be something like the x-men Storm stance…kitten I love that woman.
I’m not sure the event ended a week ago. It could have been just this past Friday.
Regardless, no official announcements, or emails (that I am aware of) have been released.
Maybe we will hear something next week. =)
Good luck.
I’m not sure either, though I did not ask in mapchats whether people were still getting portals or not. I’m very excited about this upcoming beta test because I love this game, let’s this what happens by the next week arrival
Apologies if this topic is a repeat, the search function sucks. So I saw this kinda done in another part of the forum but wanted to lay it out nicely here and see what you all thought.
The “Specializations” are really just a secondary profession, similar to what we had in GW1. So assuming that each main class will have another main as part of their specialization, and further assuming there will be no repetition of classes, here is my list of confirmed and speculated classes with corresponding secondary professions:
1. Ranger/Ele (uses staff in trailer)
2. Mesmer/Necro (has wells)
3. Guardian/Ranger (long bow and traps)
4. Necro/Warrior (shouts and great sword)
5. Engineer/Guardian (we saw use of a hammer and guard hammer skill #2 in the trailer)
6. Ele/Thief or Mesmer (both use sword, my guess is Mes, E/Me was popular in GW)
7. Thief/Engi (warrior already used, process of elimination on other classes with rifle)
8. Warrior/Thief or Mesmer (My guess is Thief and that they will get dagger)Thoughts?
I agree with most of them. I personally think that elementalist will get new skills from guardian or from revenant, hm I think those two professions are much tied to the elementalists in terms of skills, I mean, I can’t see an elementalist using a mantra, a glamour or a manipulation skill (I just think
) The same happens with warrior; I guess they’ll get a main-hand pistol with thief’s skills (the trick ones). Now what really gets my attention is what they’re going to give the revenant…maybe elementalists’?
Hello everyone. It’s been a week since the portal to the heart of maguuma event ended and I’m curious of when the closed beta test will happen; will it be during the week or on the weekend? Does anybody have a clue?
there is talk about beta, so keep watching the home page and sign up for beta when it comes out. be fast though.
Thanks for the answer.
I’m just a little bit curious about HoT demos because I can’t go to PAX East and EGX Rezzed so I decided to ask here, if we will have the opportunity to play a HoT demo released to download through our GW2’s client.
They seemed like they were a couple hundred feet in the air when the airship blew up. It looked like logan was hanging off the edge of the ship holding Zojja and Eir on top of it Shooting her bow. Pretty hard to survive that. I doubt that they had falling damage trait or rune :P
On bright note… does that mean Traherne( however u spell it ) is evil or dead now too?
I’d prefer evil and alive so I can personally kill him.
You guys are so bad! Now that sylvari are finally confirmed to be part of Mordremoth, what to expect from Heart of Thorns? Open PvP against Sylvari
o.O ?
same here, pretty nice! very excited for Heart of Thorns
“Ascension” in Prophecies and Factions(counting Weh No Su as a legit alternative) served both the lore and gameplay function of those two campaigns well. But if the lore for it wasn’t there, then ANet would have had to have called the mechanics of it(switching 2ndary class, access to Mists) something else entirely.
Whether or not it was written as a way to explain the mechanic or not is kind of irrelevant at this point…ANet completely ignored the idea of needing Ascension(the lore) to do Ascended stuff(the mechanics) with Nightfall.
Seems rather silly to debate the issue when ANet itself simply uses the term as common nomenclature for its top-tier gear in this game. Why care if they don’t?
It is sad to admit but yes, it seems they really don’t care about “nomenclature issues”.
Excuse my lore noobishness, but I have a question. The pact went and set camp in Silverwastes along with dudes from all races to fight Mordr. etcetc…
Why our character along with the two ladies went to Durm. Priory to Glint’s lair to find the vision of the egg? I mean yes a dragon egg is kinda important.. but shouldn’t we be fighting more Mordrem things?
That egg will hatch into a dragon, and possible and Elder Dragon. Everybody wants to take this egg and make it an Ally. If we succeed in making it an ally for us than we have a MAJOR advantage to the elder dragons than we ever had before.
All depends on when that egg hatches and how fast it will grow, i dont assume its a full elder dragon a year after hatching ._.’
I highly doubt it will become an elder dragon, but who knows? (Anet does!) Well there are some hints that the dragon who’ll hatch from that egg MIGHT be someway powerful enough to fight an elder dragon; I forgot where I’ve read that but it says that Glint and Kuunavang ain’t related to their masters, which means they were corrupted rather than created.
I think it depends since we don’t know Mordremoth’s body format and its abilities, but it’s been hinted in-game that it uses some sort of mesmer magic; its way of corruption comprises the mind and plants and throughout the Labyrinth (new part of The Silverwastes) you can see the same illusionary butterflies in the atmosphere, though their colour is different (blue), and you can also notice the same gloomy effects from mesmer skills floating alongside the butterflies.
P.S.: Zhaitan uses necromancer’s skills, just remember that airship fight where Zhaitan cast wells all over the floor.
I agree, this was way too short and very predictable.
The boss fights were not fun either (or at least not for my necro), as a necro I have no real access to stability the constant knockbacks and pulls were VERY annoying.Anet has 300 people working for them. If the content updates are any indication of what they are doing (when not on ANOTHER break) then this game won’t have a long feature.
Doesn’t anet realize that this update needs to keep us busy until at least the next content update? And prevent us from wondering to other games (and staying there)? At the end of this season, they better have an full blown expansion ready (or at least announce if for the very near feature).
But (knowing anet) there will be another break coming. During this break another WvW season will happen and SAB will still not be enabled again because it "doesn’t fit with the living world’ (even though it will be on break and that excuse doesn’t hold any point)
Edit: I realize everyone is human, but anet really needs to step their game up (especially compared to other games/companies). It’s just that 300 people must be working on something big. But they have been working on “something” for 2 years now.
Pretty much agree with you. They wanna create something so “different” from other MMOs that they end up doing (sometimes) something worse and lacking immersive content. Seriously, the way those LW updates are going I do doubt Guild Wars 2 will last for so long.
- In 2 years we haven’t received serious updates at professions’ skills. Just a few healing skills, okay but, new weapons’ skills? Why not? Because that’ll screw up with balance?
- In 2 years we have not received major changes at sPvP maps’ core-playing. They’re still the same point-capturing. What about GvG? Why don’t we have that?
- So much content that could be released and hold more players into this game but no, they work so kitten LW that we don’t see any opening for other aspects on this game.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I must confess I laughed so hard when I read it
Guild Wars 2: (Hot Romance Dragons) uh oh well I expect it to have its name changed because I haven’t seen guild wars officially.
Hello there
D/f has too much defensability in my honesty opinion, I wouldn’t be useing it if you’d like to stack might more frequently. Staff on the other hand is pretty good for might stacking because of the 2 fire fields available: Lava font and Burning Retreat. You can combo fast with those two skills but you firstly need to build your character on fire traitline Fire Puissance and have Arcane Brillance eqquiped.
However, staff doesn’t have a good single target DPS capability and it is more recommended for stationary foes, so dagger or scepter is more advised for the average dungeon runs.
Now answering your questions:
1 – Between staff and dagger/focus, staff is better. But fire ball will explode and hit multiple targets on a small surrounding area. Lightning chain will bounce. Dagger skills are more likely designed for groups but every weapon can damage a certain quantity of enemies in front. If you want a powerful single-targeted DPS wep you’d better go for scepter.
2 – Well there’s essencially no difference in DPS when fighting against groups, but I ain’t sure which weapon you’re talking about, staff or dagger?
3 – Well the DPS is randomly calculated and sent onto the enemy so you can’t expect the same damage to hit the same foes. And, there will be a difference in DPS if there is a difference in toughness among the enemies you’re facing. But with my experiencies I can tell you that if you’re fighting pretty same foes the difference will be slightly (or poorly) low.
Well I can honestly say that staff is good, but I wouldn’t say awesome due to extremely high cooldowns and that ridiculous eruption delay which prevents you from starting a combo that requires earth 2 to be firstly cast. All I hope is that someday Arenanet lower the cooldown of some skills and eruption so I can start comboing with fire and finish with earth for instance.
What’s the server you guys in?
The point isn’t that warriors are superior to all other classes in all respects. It is that, compared to other classes, they have far more positives and far fewer negatives, at least in my experience.
The “nerfs” I’ve seen proposed appear to be minimal. I think Arenanet is worried about upsetting the huge % of people playing warriors right now, and perhaps with good cause. But the longer they delay dealing with this, the harder it will be to deal with it.
Totally agree with you.
As a staff ele what I would really like is 1500 range, at least on all of our #5 staff skills.
This would really improve our survivability, as well as utility.
Staff #5 Skills:
Fire: Meteor Shower
Air: Static Discharge
Water: Healing Rain
Earth: Shock waveYes, I would love 1500 range for all staff skill, but I think this minor change would be a nice start, and would be far from overpowered.
I agree with you. But there are more things eles need to be improved specially the attunement CD and staff skills which are slow and can’t help eles to sustain themselves.
As a staff elementalist, I suggest that Torment can be applied through the 3rd fire skill (Flame Burst) with staff, which applies burning atm.
Does Static Field push? Considering it remains at about 3 seconds, well…
Activities in a game are created with goals in mind. However, because these goals are often not directly communicated to players they are often misunderstood and leading to frustration from players and failure of the game. Although there are wiki and other sources that help to improve communications, there are still many misunderstanding. One example is the profession balancing cycle.
I don’t know why I should write about this. But it is obvious. There are 5 characters slots each copy of GW2 sold and there 8 professions and 5 races. It is designed so that extra slots can be sold. Elementalist was the first profession being promoted and fun to play at launch. But what good is it for the business if all the elementalists are happy and have no needs to start a new profession? Where would be all the new players coming from for low leveling zones. So Elemenalist was nerfed and the previously underpowered Warrior was over powered. This was just the started of the balancing cycle and more would come. This cycle of promoting one profession for fun and demoting another for pain will continue until either another sequel or most players have bought more slots or most players quit.
Stop lamenting about elementalist being weak and wasting time trying out different builds. Elementalist is weakened by design. Just start a new profession with a new character. The game even made it easier by giving everyone a birthday present to go to level 20 in one shot.
So if you love the game and want to help Arena Net, just start another profession, buy another character slot. Plan ahead and start the next profession as soon as it is promoted to overpower which might happen on Dec 10th. Do not expect the overpower profession to last, so play often to enjoy it. Alternatively, wait for sequel. Right before the release of the next sequel all professions would likely be in perfect balance and all cool stuffs are half off or less. And this was what happened to GW1.
In this sense the ultimate help you can give to ArenaNet is: HEY ANET, CAN YOU DELETE THE ELEMENTALIST CLASS FOREVER?
As a pure staff elementalist, I can honestly say that its survivability was few designed by you (ArenaNet). Staff skills are now larger and this is awesome but, it is yet way too slow to cast. I also want to mention the lack of condition varieties an elementalist can cast.
We cannot cast poison, which I see it’s well fittable in Earth style. We can’t inflict torment, again I see it’s fittable in Earth style. The other complaints I have are about the staff skills’s purposes.
Let me begin by Water which is our “based” and “last” way to survive:
1st: Geyser and Healing Rain – geyser last too shortly though it’s a water field. Healing Rain is large – that’s ok – grants regeneration – that’s ok – removes three conditions for a shot-mid time – that’s ok; but just because it’s meant supportive it doesn’t mean it can’t be aggressive, just like I’ve been told since I was a child: “The best defense is also the best attack.”
So my suggestion on those skills in order to improve them are: Geyser – push foes who enter it.
Healing rain – “wash away” foes’s boons in case they enter it, and of course, without taking the skill’s abilities like granting regen to allies, healing and water field [ The same for geyser and please, make that push unblockable].
2nd: Frozen field: It’s all the way awesome.
3rd: Ice Spike: this one delays too much to fall, giving enemies enough time to recover and dodge.
I also want to mention the ineffectiveness of some air skills like Gust. 68,7% of the time that skills is cast is lost. So what’s the mean of that?
Now let’s talk about fire: lava font could use more instant damage and last 1 second longer. [I’m saying what lots of people already said]…
Condition builds on PvE are nice for elementalist, but for sPvP and WvW they’re not so nice and I seriously don’t recommend. I would if Eruption was cast faster.
Ok. How promising does Dec. 10th’s patch look?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Dec-10th-Balance-Preview-Updated-Nov-6th Take a look at this thread, it has all information.
One thing that I’ve been noticing is that elementalist’s staff fields delays too long to hit, giving time to foes to escape. This is a brilliant idea and Devs MUST look at it.
Well, I guess there’s a way to prevent those Pact members from being killed; just secure they are upper the hills and get all possible members to stay behind the Pact so you can take the most damage instead leaving it to the Pact.
I really didn’t know that Krait had a religion.
I really wanna know how Orr was in the past. Looking to all the remaining architetures it would be beautiful…hope someday Anet shows us.
With the huge update today Ele is trully worth it. Many skills are fixed and that’s nice.
