Anet recently closed all the other threads on this topic. Saying ‘go talk about something else’. It seems from the recent posts there’s still plenty left to talk about.
Multi loot needs to end. You worked for 1 reward you should get 1 reward.
As it stands it’s like runescape. Whoever clicks the fastest gets the most loot. Whoever has the largest squad gets the most loot.
Problem is the 3 month balance cycle. They messed something up? See it fixed in 3 month. Result is we get a complete revision every 6 months, which is terrible.
Well sw/t and gs. There are blanks on that link but it shows the jist of the build.
Runes I run travelers since Anet stoically refuses to give guards a run speed buff. Balthazar are far more powerful if you want to crawl across the map like a dead snail.
I lost this fight as a burn guard the other day. Was trying to push my current 1v6 record as a burn guard and go for a 1v7 win. Eventually killed 2 and downed 6 but didn’t have what was needed to finish the fight.

Armor I vary between vipers/dire/and trailblazers mix so I didn’t fill it in. Don’t run scepter/zeal, this is bad for roaming. The strength of burn guard is more in how you outsmart your opponent than the actual damage potential. Make them think they are winning and then smash them to pieces.

Honestly run strength and youll get better dps in any real situation. You take 1 hit in zerker and scholar is worthless. I know some metaboi will qq about this but that’s the way it is.
1. People would take time to adjust to it but I don’t see it as a bad suggestion.
2. All players are allowed to remain on their current world if they so choose.
Also world transfers must be made much cheaper under the new system. Maybe give 1 free transfer every 2 months.
3. Id stay where I am.
Is you run healing power MI will heal allies for a decent bit and yourself a ton if traited.
Yeah id rather spend my time running chak cases waiting for AB to cycle. Both of those seem to have better drops and are easier to come by.

The Legend:
- Doing the achievements and collection.
Having just started to raid recently I was opposed to doing this style of content. However, starting on the collection for precursor armor I found that I do enjoy completing the content the first time.
- Clearing hard content.
Yes, raids are hard. Harder to pug. Pugs leave on the first wipe and you will be forever explaining to the next person in the lfg line what to do. It took me around 2 days to find a group and clear vale guardian the first time. I now clear a new raid boss pretty much every 2 days, 1 day to learn the boss, the second to get the kill.
- Amazing sights.
I did the escort raid yesterday for the first time, it actually felt like sieging a keep. Awesome. Gorseval made me think now how are we supposed to kill that?
- Learning new classes.
I main a guard. Have been since 2012 forever will be. Have a 4 year old ele, never touched him, hes lvl 80 from the free HoT booster. Never even liked the class since I have to hunt them down in wvw when they run. Now? I can rotate my staff ele as good as most, I can play a PS war, and on the odd sloth my guard might get some action.
The Not So Legend:
- Grinding raids.
Anyone can clear these raids once, twice maybe thrice with some effort put into it. Finding a group/static team for all 9 bosses every week? Not going to happen for most people. Sure, keep the achievements the only way unlock the precursor set. However, there needs to be some weekly ‘legendary grade’ achievements outside of raids to earn legendary insights. Maybe put a weekly cap on LI so people cant get insane amounts doing regular pve + raids combined.
- Time gate.
Clearing all 9 bosses currently would result in 4 months minimum to obtain a set of armor. Clear 3 a week? Please link me your armor in late 2017 sometime. Now, there should be a time-gate but maybe half of what it stands at now? (new raids will lower current gate)
- Toxicity.
Most raid teams I join are chill. I let them know that I know the fight from YouTube and will follow commands given on TS if I step wrong due to inexperience. Most teams even keep me along for the next boss after we get the first kill. Get connected.
Now others are not so. They freak out the moment you link your humble 2 Gorseval tentacles thinking you are bad. — Give people a chance to enter the boss. If they die or don’t follow instructions/mechanics, cool, remove them from the group and explain why. Do not fire off with a string of kitten^%*$ when they cant link something.
As this is written from a perspective heres my gw background:
- I have from prior play full ascended sets and most weapons for each armor class.
- I wvw a lot for HoD and meet a lot of people Ive known for years from wvw running raids, which helps me get into good teams.
- I don’t post on forums a lot so its not edited, might do so if it get a lot of notice.
In the case of the hammer the field has 100% uptime so it’s almost always the oldest field.
Saw a guy get a pop fly by mendons the other day, about as high as getting hit by a giant in skyrim.
They overwrite. Guards have a light field on hammer AA rendering the weapon useless as it nullifys fire fields.
Another thing to mention is that the guard can last about 15s after using Renewed Focus. After this you will have no option but to die if you fail to finish the fight. Our toggle skill bar we had in tomes were inexplicably removed, we have no engi kits, mes’s auto cd from continuum, ele x4 skill bars, death shroud, rev legend swap, or other toggle skill bars. These are what give a class time to fight while waiting on cool downs. Once you’ve used your options as a guard its game over. Warriors lack a skill bar toggle to my knowledge but their recent buff has made up for that.
I really can’t understand why the hard route was taken to create DH. They stuck for absurdly to not doing anything paragon related that they screwed it up. They could have readded tomes and the guard community would have rejoiced.
Nerf perms evade or give me perma block guard.
As Anet insists elite specs are not more powerful than normal this won’t happen.
If a guard goes full zerk he is left with 11k hp. 1 unblockable comes through that and it’s game over.
If we go full tank we have no attrition damage like a bunker ele or engi.
I actually saw a post on the pvp forum today saying they “need to nerf DH hp”. I almost ripped into the poster as guard is the lowest hp tier and it’s his lack of skill that makes it hard for him to not step on a trap.
I don’t expect any viable fix for guardians anytime soon. On Point squeamishly addressed how little clue they have as to how to fix the class.
It isn’t viable.
A simple aegis re-design would solve a lot of issues.
If it were kitten block I would have a reason to run a shout giving aegis.
It would also make building for most traits worthwhile now. Lets face the facts and realized that the F3 passive will never proc. It will always be used before the passive even gives the measly 1-aegis block.
In a recent on-point the devs stated themselves that guardian at a high level was not viable whatsoever. Then they said that they could not buff dragonhunter since any low level scrub can be decimated before learning to play the game properly.
There are some things they religiously stick to guardians(light fields, retaliation, melee projectiles, aegis etc), but to improve the guard they need to realize that none of these synergize nor are viable for anything but a joke build.
Merchant gold on the tp, can net between 5-20g auto flipping depending on the market of the day before a game pops.
There’s also a bug with the trait that gives 13% toughness to ferocity. It actually only gives 7%. It’s listed on the wiki even and yet it’s not been fixed. So I doubt they’ll ever touch ww again until they realize that the guard class is destroyed.
Cloaks, and skins like sentinel but not in outfit form. Outfits are terrible

Soon the 2 world link will not be viable. There will be no links that would keep the balance. More smaller servers allows for alignment.
Unless of course you all want to maintain your current pairing for years. Tiers are already stale, match ups aren’t changing as there’s no one else to match with. I don’t want to fight the same 2 servers in t4 for the rest of gw2 life.
You’ll force your team to fight 1 up on mid which will most likely get your team a wipe. That’s how matches get snowballed.
You’ll soon learn to avoid anything a DH can throw at you.
Rather make guards radiant retaliation actually viable
Unless they’re rushing your home out of the gate there’s no reason.
Guards can scale off condi traitsd. But that’s worthless even at 1600 condi

The way we transfer worlds needs to change. I would earn the gold needed to transfer in 2 months of wvw. Even with new worlds being free eventually we would need to rejoin old worlds.
But yes I would join a new world if transfers were changed.
Offer a free transfer every 3 months, any extra transfer would be paid by the player.

There are also other classes far more bound to travelers. Guard says hi.
Classes that run backwards faster than they do forwards will never have the community’s respect. Hello ele’s and thieves.
Commanders gear gives perms resistance.
Something to the effect of, "we messed up and are going to fix it"? Really I think that was stated in my initial post.

The problem is anet doesn’t know what to do with guardian. They said as much in on point. Having high spike means scrubs will die to it, so they can’t buff it. However they even acknowledged that it isn’t viable on high level play.
Just make legendary runes.
I want melee shortbow.
I only open cargos and I have 3 stacks of crowbars. I don’t see the problem.
Kittens online is all about the puppy’s.
Ignore the ele, they are the strongest attrition bunker in the game atm. I hate when 2 of my guys go after the ele and spend all game chasing the kitten.
So being the top class in pvp means you have no viable builds?
There are other skills that have far worse obstruction issues for years. Torch 4 on guardian may as well have a tooltip added to auto obstruct the projectile.
Everyone’s moving to games where the things that limit progression are out in the open. Not hidden behind gates and wall that pretend they aren’t there.
In testing I play pvp often with no traits selected on my guardian. Just my weapons and know how. Sadly I only die around 10% faster due to not having the dh block (which gets shut down half the time anyways). 1s of a boon, a single block from aegis, retaliation, burning, a cleane on block with 1s icd when I can already clear with cop, it all worthless. The only trait I miss is stab on f3 use and that doesn’t even work with dh f3.
TLDR: guard traits do not matter. Try it yourself.
