I raised a necro in hot on a toaster when my gaming rig died. Running around in greens and using whatever dropped at 10 fps I had no problem doing dark harvest collection. Actually it was insanely easy and I had 0 gear on him. I wouldn’t have even thought about bringing a zerker guard into hot until my new rig arrived. The 11k hp would be a death sentence. Farming smoke scales for the claw? Not going to happen. Necros 40k infinite hp/shroud makes any pve face roll easy.
Hey so in theorycrafting a mace build I noticed faithful strike still only affects one target.
The rest of the chain cleaves 3. Why?

It strikes me as odd since this destroys the synergy and basically any skill cleaves now that we are no longer in 2012. Obviously the mace has a lot of other problems but this needs fixing.
Touched your guard lately? Thought not half of the skills can be countered due to bugs. There are even bugs listed on the wiki that have not been fixed.
If you have a high abnormal loss rate you are being carried when you do win.
Mesmer can be bursted. However against any other build its ridiculous to fight.
Can we make all WW gs2 hits projectiles pl0x? Some engineers were having trouble reflecting it.
Due to complaints from the Tyrian firefighting service we should also make torch 4 auto obstruct when shot to prevent forest fires.
And can torch 5 clear enemy condis since we know it doesn’t need to clean for the guard as well?
Oh and hammer 4 banish really is too hard to dodge. 3s cast time should be ok.
Sword 3 really tickles enemy’s to death. I’d like it to shoot kittens instead of beams.
Shield 5 bubble should spawn a box of fun so it gets used more.
To top it off, aegis is really op. It should damage the guard to let him know he was silly to be using aegis.
Yeah guards have healing and sustain. But guards rely on active defenses like blocks which are now shut down by unblockable. Poor design of shelter negates its use as if it is hit by unblockable it does not heal. This will kill you.
^I leap in place with my back to the wall of the tower. This keeps my shield forward facing.
Hey so I’ve noticed a potential bug when using the F3 virtue shield of courage. As I tend to jump in wvw circles to contest and buy time I usually rely on this block to keep me alive. However, ive noticed that when I combine this block with f2 leap or gs 3 leap the moment I go airborn I am downed. This seems to me that the block is not taking effect during this phase.
Now sometimes this may be just an unblockable hit, however if that is the case I would be downed using shelter sometimes as well. However ever time I down during anything 1v20 its the moment I combine F3 shield and a leap. Also I tend to leap in place to avoid exposing my back from the wall so it is not damage that is simply going around the shield. I am also generally maintaining over 3/4 hp by the time I use the leap, 1 random unblockable would not hit over 20k. —I wouldn’t bother writing this but I go down the instant I touch the leap which screams something is off.
Ill work to confirm this but for now everything is pointing to the frontal block not taking effect during a leap. (As soon as I find a few 20 mans to bash on me for a bit.)

Hey so today I was rolling the wvw reward track exotic weapons in the forge, I used 2x Arah GS and a HoTW GS with a forge stone. I know in the past this should have resulted in a GS, as the forge stone would copy one of the slotted GS.
However, the end result was…….. The Lover?
Not that I’m complaining about rolling a prec but I was expecting something along of lines of Dusk or Dawn.
So did I miss something in the patch notes that changed the behavior of the forge/forge stones or should I really have rolled a GS precursor?
Pvp has so few stat choices it seems like a mini game.
I recall anet stating “that’s not in the works for the guardian” when they addressed the sword projectile issue on revenant and the issue with spirit weapons vs gyros. Both times when pushed they stated that guards would not receive the same fixes.
The class has been abandoned for now.

Lol a roamer complaining about fights? There’s eotm for that as you don’t sound like a true roamer. Solo roaming I flip a camp before swords even show, so I have no problem roaming whatsoever.
People duel in wvw because they suck too much for pvp. Wvw is about your ability to 1v2 or higher. If you are only worth 1 enemy player you hinder your team. So glory seeking duelers need to leave ebg.

Separating some skills effects like revenant taunt from over is fine. Do not separate any aspect other than skills that need to be changed slightly for wvw play.
Because guardians can’t be useful after 2012. Unspoken rule.
Do not pigeonhole wvw. Wvw requires tank builds which are not allowed in pvp. Pvp with locked builds feels more like a mini game than anything else. Honestly once you know your way around in wvw it is more balanced than pvp right now.
From a hod roamer it seems you lack good commanders that aren’t leading for a guild. If it’s not a guild team I can always pick off the tail of your Zerg no problem. Which if me and my roaming buddy pick off 4-5 guys by the time you arrive it’s likely you will not cap your objective.
I’ve been trying to make a viable bunker guard but it is failing miserably. While I still will main a guard I’m sure I’ll get a kick out of trolling wvw zergs as a clerics warrior.
Sticking to my guard for a third season. It hurts watching classes screw up horribly in combat and still be able to beat down my guard. But oh well I get over that and beat them down even harder if needed the next time.
Add a trait that makes aegis block for .25ish seconds after being broken. This would belong ideally in virtues but I hesitate to place it there as other trait lines see no usage. Heck even throw it in zeal with some shifty name and id be happy to try the line again.
—as it stands guards passive defense aegis is a joke. It’s one block in a quickness fast skill meta which is worthless. This change would force attackers to actually bust and aegis knowingly before bursting.
Hey all I’ve been playing as a guardian since late 2012. I’ve played both power and burn guard/dh since hot launched, mainly as a wvw roamer. I may not be the best but I win the majority of the fights I get into. But watching the last 3 patches each time I notice that I have to do more to achieve the same result. Today while fighting a scrapper I perfectly outplayed him landing my bursts and shutting down his. I get him to under 10% and in about 5 seconds he is able to fully heal, and since guards are still 2012 level cool downs my options are up and he stacks 20+ might to almost 3 shot me from full hp. Now I know engis can turn around fights but I have noticed this in most every fight I engage now. I still win the majority of my fights but to do so I have to outplay them on every level, whether they are the worst or the best. Many of the people I fight make a lot of errors but do not pay for them, each patch adds something that allows them to walk away without penalty.
Now here’s why I mention this. My latest roaming has been as a burn dh. This build has not been changed since before hot. However as the patches roll out it requires more and more to take down other classes. The same is true of power dh(which I hate and refuse to ever touch a trap unless the situation requires). Things being added to the game such as unblockable and adrenal health for warriors (which comes to 26k hp over 30s) is leaving the guardian behind. With low dps, hp and active defenses being decimated by unblockable the window to properly execute a takedown ends shortly after renewed focus. If you miss it, expect to die.
So for those who are continuing their guards as I am, what do you think is the most direct way to address the sustain and dps issues faced by the guardian. (Ignoring the plethora of F grade skills for now, unless that applies to a fix).
Imo making aegis a .25s block after trigger would go a long ways, balancing of course any absurdly fast way to obtain it.
1. Stop nerfing what’s good at the moment. This is making the game unstable. Bring everything else up to an established baseline.
2. Step away from esports. It won’t work for gw2.
Yeah I am against the design of this. Not only is it hard but I just spent the last up to 2 hours doing the meta. I want to get my rewards and get out. Not spend 15 mins attempting to get loot that I already earned. While I have not problem surviving as I main core guard and a reaper, this would be a serious issue for some classes.
Hopefully they see this poor design and patch it.
So I had a laptop running win 7 that died. I have salvaged the hdd and my new rig is due for delivery today. I know that a simply copy paste to the new hdd will run, but is there a way to run the gw2 setup/install to make sure the files are correctly installed to the new hdd?

No, not really. Just throwing some ideas down from my iPhone as my laptop died and my new rig hasn’t arrived yet.
Edit: but 13 is my favorite for implementation.
1. We need to know the basics of what is planned, otherwise all is speculation.
- let us know something like “we are planning alliances” so we can give ideas on HOW to do it.
2. Move reset back to Friday. This change was when I noticed the wvw inactivity as it made the Saturday fight almost unimportant most of the day.
3. Scoring matters. Right now I get nothing other than a number for winning wvw. Winning needs to have an incentive.
4. We need conquest events that spawn, not pve events. These events should draw the focus of the entire map. Maybe a defensive structure behind enemy lines that can be captured and used as an advance base. It should be telegraphed to the map so people will focus it. No pve mobs other than a lord.
5. Players start upgrades once yak limit is reached.
6. Rotate bl maps.
7. Gliding added for free to wvw. Work maps to prevent exploits. It’s just awkward to go from pve to wvw and suddenly a huge mechanic is gone.
8. Add auto loot as a training alongside other wvw masterys. It is unfair to provide it in pve only. Adding it to wvw training for rank will nullify the previously stated keeping tyria mastery separate from wvw.
9. We pay gold and badges for wvw gear. Salvaging gives only a minimal amount of badges. Remove the gold cost or better the salvage rewards.
10. The rank tokens being soul bound needs to go. No one does wvw on a character that does not already have its spec unlocked, making the tokens useless for this regard.
11. Ability to gain ascended gear from wvw. Right now in 600 ranks I’ve seen ONE armour chest drop. At this rate I might have a full set from wvw by rank 3600. Is anyone even to 3600 yet? This speaks for itself.
12. Higher liquid gold rewards the first time you capture an objective that day. A maximum of say 10 distinct captures will reward this per day, afterward the rewards revert to normal until day reset. This will prevent people capping each fort once on all maps disturbing the rhythm of wvw.
13. Personal idea, rather than ever remove EBG add an underground tunnel network. This allows for a very simple overland travel hassle free, or for stealth travel by expd players underground. No exit from the tunnel network should be behind the first level of forts on each side eg klovan durios etc. this keeps
Players wanting be to stay forever happy while adding a new element to it. Maze tunnels would be even better for roamed to memorize the way out.
I find the silence intimidating. It’s like the quarterly update has become an excuse to let the game die.
I’d support a dual layer system. A simpler overland eb style, but a network of caves underground that are dark and you can get lost in. There would be 3-4 exits from the cave network on each side but none deeper than the first fort in.

They just suck. Before the changes eles would rarely dodge anything but the most telegraphed nuke, they didn’t need to. Now I can hit most else in the face with gravedigger. Yeah. That’s a problem. Eating my guards entire ww? Yeah that’s gonna leave a mark.
Mesmer has fine dps. Yeah you click one more button to do it but quit kittening.
Necrosis who hit with GD are the better players.

It’s an old never finished game but take a page from kFlyff. Grouping with people within the same map as you provided a 30% exp boost per player. Okittennowing anets flimsy buffs, see how many guard skills grant 1s of a boon. Whoodedodofucinghoo 1 entire second. Going by this is would expect a max boost of 5% per player in the map max of 5.
Moving shelter into meditations would solve some of the problems. Because let’s face it it’s extremely odd to have a skill with no type when it is blatantly a meditation. This would self proc the 2k heal and another 2k heals from trained smite condo, ending somewhere around 8k total.
Didn’t that complaint stop before season 1?

The added gates to old content ie asc gear is lame. I fell like hot didn’t bring new content but rather gated what we already had or removed it.
Still doesn’t change the fact that a focus point is a part of any fight, real life or drawn with a red circle.
