How much should I list The Juggernaut for?

Someone I’ve met sold his jugger for around 1.5 or 1.8k and went to make another one (to keep both weapon and the profit).

I just made Jugger, after Sunrise, and now heading for quip.

Would not dream on selling any of them, after pouring my soul into each one.
It’s a shame that you cheapen your whole experience to that level.

Nice Tertle! mind sharing which one was it?

As for me, I don’t think I ever stood on more than 400g in one sitting, but definitely spent over 2.5k already….

I made bolt which I’m making it again for myself. I’m a mesmer and don’t think the greatswords suit the class to well, I prefer vision of the mists and I also didn’t want to be restricted to GS only since I enjoy shatter build as well.

I didn’t intend to sell it, and if I had made it 2 weeks earlier before you could I wouldn’t have but I couldn’t pass up opportunity to sell for 3x the gold cost when I found that to be by far the hardest part to acquire.

Max gold I had before selling legendary was 400g I got from selling dusk, which I bought for 180g after the lost shores event and the mass price drop. I had to sell pretty much everything I had to purchase this but it was a good investment, paid for my charged lodestones.

Very nice!! well done and would wonder what’s stopping you from repeating the process?

As for me, I’m about to finish juggernaut and simply won’t sell it since I don’t feel like going through a 200sp grind or 1m karma again, yikes, that hurts me more than anything. (can farm sufficient gold in 2~3 weeks)

Nothing really, it’d be a really easy way to make large amounts of gold but I can’t be bothered to world complete another alt (even though it’s quick), let alone grind karma per weapon. I don’t like grinding which is why I’ve done pretty much none, all my karma came from WvW and dailies which worked out to be enough just due to play time without having to grind orr at all.

Also like I said, don’t really need gold for anything. The only thing I could possibly spend it on would be to fully deck my char with 3 legendary’s but don’t care enough and love the look of my current other weapons anyway.

Congrats on your juggernaut!

I like your style, since I can very much relate to it.

And thanks! this will be my second and most likely final one on my Guardian for a long while, wanted bifrost too but will probably end up just making gift of fortune / mastery again until we get cheaper precursors.

If someone is really spending real life cash on gems to buy gold to buy a legendary off the trading post, then I feel bad for him.

As of right now the cheapest legendary weapon I see available is the bolt, for 3333 gold.

Currently 100 gems is 1 gold 75 silver. Let’s pretend there are no fees for selling gems (there are)

That means you need 190457 gems to get that much gold (rounded)

With the largest bulk option you get 4000 gems for $50.00

That means to buy the cheapest legendary on the trading post right now (bolt) you need $2,308.

When you add in trading post fees you’re probably looking at around $2,5000.

Do you REALLY think that someone out there is spending that much on a legendary weapon? I highly doubt it. And if there is someone spending that much on a legendary, I feel bad for him.

I know DOZENS of people who spend $1000+ on F2P games -.-

Yes, in the last MMO I played there were several people who spent $5,000 + and a few who even spent $10,000+

The difference is that in those games they got a statistical advantage. They got gear so strong that very, very few people could compete against them.

I don’t know anyone who has spent that much on cosmetics.

Look how many discussions these weapons create.
Clearly this is far more than just cosmetics to some…

I work in the online gambling industry,
Some of you here make me chuckle…. you seriously got no idea how many hundreds of thousands $$$ people will spend on a whim just because they can, knowing they’ll lose it all anyway or will jump through hoops to get paid back.

You honestly think a measly $1000 or even $10,000 in an online game is a hurdle to some gamers? they probably just buy the legendary, play the game a bit, say “meh, not what I expected” and move on. They probably won’t even remember making this purchase.

4 years+ GW1 vet here, was a big fan.

Many of the things I agree with have already been said,
but what bothered me the most in GW2 was that while by simply playing GW1, I was able to afford everything I needed to get 50/50 achievements. (Hardly bothered with farming, only in very few occasions)
While in GW2, to reach any goal I set up for myself, I have to turn myself into a bot who does the same repetitive task until it’s done.

Example: In GW1 I could simply run dungeons that I liked (no speed runs) and based on the loot I get from chests, I could pretty much make decent money. Some of them even guaranteed unique worthwhile loot like in Slaver’s Exile that net you 10 platinum minimum from chest.

In GW2 I farm nodes (best way to make money).
My other alternative without relying on a group, would be the TP which I’m already highly against for various reasons.

There is a strong emphasis to push players to purchase gems in this game resulting in large scale nerfs, and many feel this way. Which made me lose a lot of faith in the company I used to love so much.

Just in case you were wondering about the future drop in price of precursors….

As soon as let’s say another 30 or even 50 dusks make it to the market, they will be instantly bought out.
I believe the traders learned their lesson and know since there isn’t any viable way to get them, they can simply buy them all and resell for 400g+
They know people will pay.

It shows you spent time, like everything you can ‘accomplish’ in this or any game does.

So if not time spent, what would qualify a player for obtaining a precursor?

Gold.

I think I can quite safely assume that there are a lot more people who have a Legendary than people who have soloed Lupicus. That tells something about that achievement.

That the person who soloed Lupicus ran out of things to do in the game, or simply looking for attention.

You really think beating a boss in an MMO solo is much harder than some of the bosses in single player games?

This market is not DOMINATED by traders. Most people who trade for their money use speculation, which does no damage to the market. It just sounds to me like someones angry because they made a bad investment

Sorry no habla ingels, or at least not the english you’re speaking since it’s nonsense.

I’ve got no further interest in the TP besides selling my goods.
Maybe you didn’t read the fluctuation part, or just completely denying that certain goods have been completely inflated and out of reach for the masses, precursors, silver doubloons, lodestones as good example.

Player who act as traders already admitted that they bought stacks of doubloons and also bought out the highly sought after precursors, then selling them for much higher price later on.

No one cares if you’re speculating on chocolate and carrots and making a bank of it, good for you. It is the certain items that everyone want, that suffer from this trade war, resulting everyone – but the traders, as the losers.
I wouldn’t be surprised if right now there is a trader somewhere that sits on 1k+ charged lodestones and simply dripping them into the market little by little making a fortune for himself.

To put it simply, all items should be banned from reselling, today it’s the lodestones, tomorrow a new patch would come out that result another item becoming the victim.
Creating more supply for everyone, and ending the illusion of high demand vs low supply.

I dont see anything wrong with making money in a way other than grinding. Arenanet even tried to get rid of grinding. Why do you think they would hire an economist if they didn’t want people to “play the market”?

Because fluctuating precursors.
Because fluctuating T6 mats when we’re told massive bots were banned.
Because fluctuation.

I’ve seen resellers in my life in many games, but this market is DOMINATED by traders.
It is only profitable to the traders themselves while penalizing everyone else.

Only players who will resort to same method will be able to create a steady ~ fast game progression.
A steady affordable market will be one in which none can resell a purchased item, therefore no artificial supply and demand are created, and if anything – more supply rather than demand.

So I can only live in false hope that the idea will be implemented.

ANet is as confused as an angsty teenager. One day it’s “skill”; the other it’s “dedication” through farming…and most of the time it’s an odd mixture of both. That visible and tangible indecision on their part does not make the process of crafting a legendary appealing to me.

I could go on and on like many here have about why they feel this way but let’s be frank: Farming mats with or without skill is not epic, especially when it’s 250 of them per category…

I got my fill of the game , and am currently recharging my MMO batteries playing some rather fantastic single player games. I have no interest in legendary because the journey to getting one does not correspond with the experience that I’ve had of the game. When it gets closer to that, then I’ll consider working towards it. Game itself is really great all around, and its legendary quest could be as well. If it doesn’t change/update/whatever then I’m sure I’ll get there eventually in a year or two, even if I try my best not to.

Plus let’s not forget the stats of a legendary, even if they get bolstered after ascended still mean nothing in terms of content gating. It is utterly pointless, at least in practice. Zero incentive for me to get one. If it does the trick for someone else, then by all means, do it. Fun is a very subjective notion and everyone is going to feel different about different things. To me, it just feels stale.

Frankly, I couldn’t give a kitten
And that, in itself, feels good.

At least be honest with yourself.
If all legendaries were worth 10g tomorrow you’d get one in a heartbeat.

These sort of ‘guides’ depress me, I despise people who ‘flip’ prices as their way of making money instead of playing the game. Prices spiral and new players are unable to afford anything, one sees it in all MMOs of course, sadly no MMO makes items bought of the ‘AH’ un-relistable.

So it’s much better to grind, “playing” the game?

I do wonder how the market would look like if everyone earned the same steady amount of gold.

I’ll pray to every god that Anet comes up with a patch to not be able to resell items bought from TP.
That will be the day you all quit.

So, the problem with people making money is that they are not all making the same amount of money?

Let’s say he got it much earlier if the game promoted it based on a long quest, still… wouldn’t take more than a month for him, would it?

What’s next? quest for all legendaries?

They must keep some kind of long-term goal and this is the only way to do.
I really don’t look forward to any precursor quest or anything of the sort, just make precursors more available AND MAKE THEM UNRESELLABLE.

That alone will keep the legendaries at a “decent” price, while still being a long term goal.

You may think I earn a lot, but what I make in a day should be your standard if you started like me since release.

If after 4 months you can’t even make 40g a day in 2+ hours then you should quit the game altogether.
There are people who post legendaries with hundreds of gold fees only for listing, not because they actually plan to sell the items. Only for giggles as it hardly affect their total funds.

See what I mean by more competent here?
Some people just don’t know how to split their time in the game, jerk around, and come later to forums to tell us about their “great endevours”.

If you’re shooting to the starts, it will be painful, no matter what.

Competent and RNG are completely different

What RNG?
I bought everything.

And that’s exactly the problem as described by the OP and many others… you can buy everything! So a “competent” player that gets lots of legendaries is one that farms the most, arranges his time to do cof p1 and the events in Cursed Shore all day so he gets money, there is no real challenge, other than “organizing your time to do the most efficient farm”… I wouldn’t call that skill. And yes you are right above I didn’t organize my time well since I hate grinding/farming and I spent my hours having fun doing various stuff instead of farming events/dungeons like a bot.

Well, at least you got one thing right about achieving a legendary:
You either play like a bot, or become a power trader.

(There is no need for you to mention the fact that Anet is going to change the way to get precursors because I already know it. I am talking about the actual GOLD you need for the Legendary or, in other words, how much more FARM and LUCK, than SKILL you need.)

Fixed it for you. It’s not only farm, it’s also a matter of RNG luck. You can call it Random Wars or Grind Wars if you like.

Unfortunately you are completely correct. I’ve done near everything in the game, I have 4120 achievement points and 900+ hours played but I’m still a very long way away of getting a legendary, why? Because I didn’t spend all those hours farming penit/shelter/plinx/cofp1 etc but instead I tried to do everything, not only dungeons, but explorable achievements, jumping puzzles, everything that the game has to offer. What was my “Reward” for doing everything in the game? Nothing.

When I first decided to get a Legendary I started with the “fun” part, getting 100% World Completion, I thought after I do that I would have a lot of materials for the rest… How wrong I was I only got less than 5% of the total needed… Same with finishing all dungeons, I expected to have enough materials/money to make a part of the legendary but again I had less than what 10% of the total needed?

Now I’ve got just about the same progress in achievements as you, less than 900 hours total and almost done with my 2nd legendary. (forget about other stuff like all classes at 80, 4 alts with full exotics etc…)

It takes more skill to play with magic find gear than it does without, assuming the one with magic find gear is performing equally or better than the other.

Legendaries should have been aquired through a quest-like approach though, where all materials must be achieved and not boughten. This is already somewhat true and would have been if the boughten materials weren’t so rare and so many were required.

One of GW2 features is that you should be happy to see another player, which is why mobs and nodes can’t be tagged. Unfortunately, this also means that skillful play isn’t rewarded, however zerging is. Only instanced content can get around this, fractals being the first attempt at a challenge mode.

Skill in general isn’t really required nowadays because – see the clock tower – it causes complaints from those who can’t do it.

From my point of view, the current legendaries aren’t legendary at all. I imagine getting the title “Legendary Farmer” for obtaining one – “so what?” if you have one. I would definitely like to see legendaries aquired though individual skill checks so that by just wearing one, you can tell who’s an above average player. Only the 1% would have one though, and it would quickly turn into gearscore. They could even dumb it down the next year to be fair.

A player who made 1kg is still more competent than a player that didn’t.
Let’s face it, the combat system here is quite shallow and too kitten easy to learn.

You honestly think that someone who was smart enough (let’s admit it, he is) to get a legendary or a few, won’t be able to master the combat system if wanted to?

At the moment having a legendary by all means says “I am better than you”, you don’t have to agree or like that idea.

The only difference is the gift of mastery, before that anyone with enough real life cash could convert all the gems into gold and simply work on that one very simple to achieve gift.

I think there’s more to it than just that “one very simple to achieve gift.”

outside of the gift of mastery you still need about 500,000 karma and 1,000,000 total. Don’t forget dungeon tokens and wvw. There’s a lot of people that really struggle with 500 wvw badges.

That’s gift of mastery buddy.
But I admit I forgot about the clovers, still, only 500k… nothing to shed a tear for.

All Anet need to do to make the whole world not lose its viability is to do the same they did with general drops from mobs (lv80 will get lv75+ drops from low lv mobs)
But instead give a daily champion coin reward like in Dungeons, from world champs.
DE’s got SAME difficulty all over the world, only problem is that we aren’t scaled down enough and most enemies will die in 1 or a very few hits – scale us lower and increase Karma rewards.

I think increasing rewards from world champs alone will be enough encouragement to revive all the world maps.

This gave me an idea. So to prevent people from creating chars just to zerg champion killing, having them drop something extra would require 100% world completion (another use for Gift of Exploration?) or another achievement-wise requirement, could be unlocked daily or weekly as long as the reward(s) matched accordingly.

The whole idea can still be account bound.
But with current extra slot prices, I don’t see why not just keep it per character, since the game is still only 4 months old and most new players won’t be able to afford more slots that easily other than buying gems. (more profit to Anet, plus for them)

DE’s got SAME difficulty all over the world, only problem is that we aren’t scaled down enough and most enemies will die in 1 or a very few hits – scale us lower and increase Karma rewards.

I think increasing rewards from world champs alone will be enough encouragement to revive all the world maps.

Still wondering why we have a horrible system like transmutation stones and not appearance slots.

Because more gems.

This thread makes me wonder: how many people besides myself are going for a Legendary without playing the TP at all?

I use it to buy materials and sell certain bits of loot, but I definitely don’t watch trends and buy things to sell them later.

Raises hand
But very few of us exist, for a good reason. Our methods aren’t as efficient.

Knowing there’s people out there who kitten on my face with 4 legendaries or more, seriously take away the whole prestige value. One does not invest over 800g just and only for looks.
My 2nd will be my last, unless some new cool skins come out and I can manage to beat the traders and get my first one cheap before they kitten the prices.

evo.8640 – Let’s put it another way…
Would you see yourself touching the game at all if you couldn’t efficiently power trade at all?

I think we both know the answer.

Grazingcattle.1627 – So there you have it.
Our lovely power trader here who’s still a “small fry who merely earns 100g a day” plays no more than 1 hour a day.

That is what you’ll be reduced to.
The game itself will no longer hold any meaning to you, enjoy your trading.

And thank you for proving my point here evo.

EDIT:
No power trader here can say that he actually plays the game.
Not once in my life I’ve met people who hoard the largest amount of gold in the community that don’t give a rats kitten about the game itself they’re playing.

(Just as a reminder. I’m close to finish my 2nd legendary and in a very good position myself, only criticizing the situation)

Mjolnir 100% best skin.
While it is extremely expensive, it lacks the prestige of the Juggernaut and the extra effects.

It’s a tough decision, since the skin is amazing.
