I’ve already said that there are no means of acquiring a legendary if you played legit so far. Take your opportunities when you can like in phase 3 @ Lost shores.
Things will only go downhill from here. (Ectos climbing already to 27s each)
I’m about to get my own legendary and will stop there, since I wasn’t lucky or smart enough like other players who own more than 1.
I got it at the one in hope falls in Malchor’s Leap, right at the bottom of the fall.
The chest’s “name” only says “chest”.
So yeah, these kind of chests.
As for the other fella, he got it at Cursed Shore instead.
I got a screenshot of the looted item in system log if need any proof.
Anyone who starts the game today and got the same amount of hours, being past all the events I mentioned, won’t be able to make it to legendary, no matter what, no matter when.
I’m sure you were trying to make a point, but wild exaggeration just makes you look ridiculous. Starting today, no new players will ever get a Legendary? Please, do go on.
It is literally impossible unless prices considerably drop in the future.
You know it, I know it, everyone know it.
There are 0 opportunities to make a large sum of gold besides a very low RNG as things are at the moment.
Each class got its own uses, it is smart to have all classes eventually to test which situation works best for you with each specific class.
If I wanted plain DPS, I’d pick warrior, plain and simple.
Here I was coming looking for something along the lines of kit refinement and bolt discharge.
The best part about being an engi imo – is having a frigging reliable dps at 1500 range, while being able to close in instead and apply some sweet combo fields and insta 7 stacks of aoe confusion.
Once I’m done with my current goals I’m planning on creating a dps engi beast that can take a barrage of attacks coming at it.
The bigger problem here is that you try to follow too many advices, and not trying to figure out what works best for you on your own.
I for example run GS / Hammer at WvW, my most favored play is 1 v 1 and rush into zergs and come out in one piece.
As for sPvP, I’d highly recommend the somewhat fragile yet very capable full spirit weapon build (Sheild, sword, Hammer), combined with GS / Scepter + Torch.
In most cases I get top player running that, but again – that’s me and you are you…
try to understand how things work on your own a little.
This forums has plenty of hypocrites.
People who already achieved their goals claim everything is 100% A-ok.
A very saddening situation that Anet is mislead to continue the German regime against the rest of the community.
Until the Scavanger Hunt is up, prices will be back to where they were before “The Lost Shores”, so I guess there will be some Precursors still be popping up in the TP during the next few days and then it will be all about a rise again.
Has anyone noticed the increased drop chance in PvE? I’m doing Temple Events and Jormag on a daily basis and haven’t had more than the one per week popping up in the local channel after the event, which is basically the same rate it was before.
Those chest need a severe chance increase. Considered you did partake in “The Lost Shores” you had a 15% chance (guessed) for 3 hours of hard work through lags.I ran 2-3 Grenth Temple Events and Jormags per day, have freed the entrace to Arah whenever possible, 5-6 days a week which is basically much more than a 100 hours event runs alone. And I had an overall chance of 0,00001% for getting one. This is not the balance I had expected.
Looking back, I really would have prefered some story or gathering or whatsoever task which had taken up 100 hours (or more) of playing time.
I just hope for one thing: ANET, don’t replace RNG with even more RNG, like “The Lost Shores” did. It’s not kind of a creative solution.
I must say, I got Dusk the other day (maybe 2 days ago or so) from a normal “chest” in orr.
I also saw another player the next day who got it by same means.
Yes, the very same chest that gives you a blue rampager’s light shoes.
It is ridiculous,
I have close to 700 hours played in this game. I do all kinds of content, farm, WvW, occasional PvP etc. I play the game the way it was meant to be played.
Since I have been saving up for my Legendary I have been hording all the T6 Materials I’ve collected over the past 3 months.
Until today I have an average of…about 70 per T6 Material. Bones and Dust being a lot more common, Blood and Fangs being rare.
That’s right, 3 months of frequent play….50% of which might have been dedicated to farming….and I’m only about 30% of the way there. That’s atrocious.
And this is just for one item. Forget about all the Ascended items you might want to craft.
Anet has proven over and over that achieving great feats in this game is not for the legit players. I’m very sorry to break this to you, but it is the truth.
You had several cashout points through GW2’s history -
- Cheap T3 karma weapons aquisition.
- Chilli poppers vendoring.
- Mystic forge godskulls trade for precursors.
- Cheap precursor flipping on TP past godskull patch.
- Lost Shores phase 3 overflow chest spam.
After missing all of the above chances to make gold, I doubt you’ll ever make it to legendary, my sincere apologies.
Raybunny.6190 is a good example.

(edited by Horheristo.3607)
Hmm if that’s the case then I’ll just switch back to some zerker pieces to offset the loss of damage. Rather keep the legendary intact besides the sigil.
it would not be legendary if you could do it with in a week
Its not legendary now. It hasn’t been since day one. Running around orr farming mobs for a month straight isn’t legendary in the slightest. Even the scavenger hunt that will supposedly be implemented for precursors doesn’t sound legendary, just more kitten running around, and then you still have to farm the ~500g and ~800k karma.
500g? wow that’s nice, I wish that’s how much I’ve actually spent so far.
As for the powerful bloods post – try the Skelks above the JP waypoint at bottom right of the map.
I always jump right in to cause havoc, what other better way is there to support your zerg? unleash all your cd’s with GS, switch to hammer, #2 and gtfo.
Use soldier’s for any cc on you + purity trait + healing sig.
When they start targeting you as you retreat back, simply use WoR and keep walking away (literally, just walk)
Works great every single time!
I carry 2 immobilize (hammer + utility), WoR and “Save yourselves” or “Stand your ground”.
P.S
Soldier rune also remove KD, Daze and stun. all considered as conditions.
Same as poison, prolongs the duration.
Good question.
Should be account bound considering the req.
While I disagree with the issue at hand, since OP is not thinking out of the box…
I must admit that I’m very pleased with the new chests buff, me and another person on /m chat got Dusk out of a simple “chest”.
Fancy gear and a hobo sack kit.
Somehow that doesn’t feel right.
Nice guide, I’ve been using shatters forever, since everything else was too lackluster or very situational. I also figured at one point that I just need to spam as many shatters as I can through utilizing my skills and traits.
I’ve yet to implement any runes and sigils so on that part, this guide helps greatly and glad to see some good suggestions here.
Great guide, and hopefully people will realize that there are better ways to inflict pain with the mesmer.
Stop being cheap and get your soldier runes up.
Should build is viable enough if you don’t use spirit weapons instead. As for armor… so what would other light and medium armor classes will say?
they don’t even have half of our defensive utilities and skills, just learn to adapt and get over it.I have similar stats to the ones posted above. So your cheap crack is misplaced. As for Cursed Shore, That’s bullkitten, mobs in the Cursed Shore only tick me for 500- SOMETIMES 800 per tick and it’s not a constant channel of ticks. Do you even play this game?
Good, then what is the fuss all about again?
No such thing as main or alt in Guild Wars, and if you played GW1 you should realize that too.
Each class got its own defined role in the game, but more importantly – play and see what you feel more comfortable with at each situation.
For example, if you’re doing dungeons and engineer works best for you there, then take it. Or At WvW you can dominate with the mesmer better, then play it there.
Utilize all the classes with a solid build for each one, rather than focus on one class and try to come up with different builds with little difference.
Just wanted to add regarding the weakness vs ranged here…
Try elixir U toolbelt, very useful with a 2/3 chances of casting smoke screen or Reflect wall. While those are up, you can focus at melting your opponent/s with ranged attacks.
I should make a vid of myself when I drop into the mass.
You can do some really amazing stuff that no other class can, thanks to our high survivability, AoE’s and very decent immobilizing skills / utility.
Must’ve been a default skin and forgotten past release XD

I think the word you’re looking for is Autopilot.
As for the class, nothing beats leaping into a zerg and completely dominating it with GS and hammer. Still my favorite among the 8 classes.
Won’t say it’s a good/bad build, since each guardian finds his own path.
However, I do feel that Altruistic healing and empowering should be mandatory in any solid build. Not only due to the fact that their sync works amazingly well, but also because of the stats that their trait lines boost.
I like spirit weapon build as well as an alternative. And fully traited weapon spirit shield is simply awesome to play with, in both pve and pvp.
I’ve run TA exp almost every day now for a week, and have come out every time with atleast 1-2g profit every time, I’m not seeing where “dungeons are not profitable” comes into this at all. Maybe i’m just lucky, but it seems every group i’ve run with, everyone was “getting lucky” with drops. Also, no I do not use MF gear while doing dungeons, and still get a good amount of cores/lodestones.
1-2g for an hour or more is NOTHING. Do Orr farming to see what 20 minutes get you.
Did the same for an hour, ran 3 events alternatively (while staying for mass mobs ones) for a full hour with full MF set + boost + food.
made what? 2.5g? what 3-4 rares are you talking about per run? I want to live in that dreamworld.
Not to mention that you need to wait between events now and then, killing time doing f—-all.
I just love those best scenario stories that some people write about their experiences.
1.5h hours of farming, what are you complaining about?
Will drop back to normal very soon, there are more bots in training you know
Anet does the banning in waves, so what are a few accounts bans for our chinese friends?
A 600g legendary sounds more attractive to me, hopefully that will be the case soon, so I can leave this part behind me and focus on other aspects of the game.
When I get back from work, don’t be too surprised if potent blood went up to 40s+ a piece. Gonna buy 750.
Wouldn’t say impossible, also she needed more than 800g to get eternity, it’s actually around 1600g if she didn’t get her hands earlier on cheap precursors and gifts.
Also Timmy, seems you became a bit obsessed with how some of us manage to make some quick $. Maybe look it up online, google was my friend too
I will not give out any secrets as you know, it WILL affect my profit margins directly if I was to blurt something out about how I make money. It is not flipping, I can tell you that.
I got a feeling we’re doing the same thing, I must be missing something since we both rely on reliable income and not RNG.
If anything, please keep the way Asura walk.
One of the reasons to make one, I’m not playing a game to look serious.
If you farm Orr/nodes for money, you are doing something wrong… Orr is for karma only, there are plenty of ways to make money faster than farming. I can make around 30g in 2 hours, the pricing on precursors are very reasonable.
I also find it funny how people call the people who used godskulls to create precursors ‘exploiters’ when all they did was/is use the cheapest route to create level 80 exotics. Nothing was exploited and they never had a ‘higher’ chance of getting a precursor, it just saved money and/or made profit while trying for a precursor.
I’m doing nothing wrong, I myself make 20g in 2 hours. I do not farm Orr though and was talking for the majority of the players.
I won’t get into the whole skull case here, Anet treated it as an exploit to be fixed, same as the chilli poppers. You decide to acknowledge it as completely legit mechanic, I’m glad you think that way, since we’re in the same boat here.
Would love to see a fraps video of 2 hours of your gameplay, I’m sure it’ll be very interesting as mine is.
On side note:
If you flip on TP that’s nice, if not, I seriously wonder what you do to make those solid 30g in 2h whenever you want to, that I’m doing wrong. Since I thought my way was fast enough in same amount of time. (not TP)
“I’ve sold my precursor for 66g, sucks that they’re worth over 400+ now”
“I had no chance to exploit myself a precursor, now I have to farm like mad towards it”
“I bought my precursor for 300+, sucks that it will be easier to obtain”
sounds familiar?
That’s how it is, we all learned to swallow it up.
Whatever will come, 1 half will rage and the other will be pleased.
Wait patiently for the change, accept it since you got no choice and move on.
Stop.
Say this again if you started the game now, so just stop.
There’s no way that you made this topic after spending over 800g while farming Orr / nodes.
You’re an opportunist or an exploiter that got his hands early on a precursor when the market was still very young and unaware.
Rotate between alts
There are far worse issues to address with the dungeons.
Bulky monsters for no apparent reason is one of many.
I’ve done so much in the game already, but for the life of me could not do all the paths yet in every dungeons.
My steel nerves rust and dissolve whenever I do one for the sheer boredom I experience even at a 20mins run.
This is coming from a person who can sit and farm for 8 hours mindlessly the same content.
Event the bots can’t make enough for a legendary
8g for a fresh experience doesn’t sound too bad for me.
Na 10% are legit drops. It is just unfortunate that Anet didnt ban the exploiters at the start like they should have and dealt with botters better.
I was simply taking the opposite approach that everyone else is that things will get better instead they might just get much worst.
Maybe I will add sarcasm tag next time.To banning the exploiters and bots from moment 0 I totally agree and they should have cleaned the market completely since it happened. However, those “exploited” precursors are over now. The ones you see sold right now are legit. So I don’t see how your next statement belongs in a thread about “precursors” being addressed.
You don’t understand. Legendaries are already too easy to acquire to be called legendaries. I managed to get one in 2 months gaming with a 60 hour job per week and no RMT involved. Or botting or karma exploiting. If I can do it then most people can. They just don’t have patience is the only problem. And ANet stated that legendaries should exist in less than 5% of the total population.
Such threads make my head explode. Average people want to achieve exceptional things by non exceptional deeds. WTF……
I probably make gold much faster than you do, no matter what your rate is.
But what you said does not reflect at all what the VERY vast majority of this game’s population thinks. And the game was not made for the few 10 with radical opinions only because they managed to get their hands on such items early thanks to the state of the market when they did.
You wouldn’t say the same things if you started playing the game now.
Here’s a simple solution that everyone should be able to agree on: let achievement points go towards legendary components or legendaries themselves. That way you could actually work towards a legendary by actually enjoying and participating in all facets of the game and not just mindlessly grinding, playing the TP, or exploiting.
THIS^
You can still grind that by using agent of entropy. 200 salvage =2 achievement points. I have gained about 300 points because of that.
There are far better ways to gain fast points…
I can hit 10k points if I was bored enough. Currently sitting on 4k+ just to annoy a hardcore member of my guild who can’t understand why he can’t catch up to me.
Love the FGS, and the fact that it can be picked up by another player is also great, just not in large scale DE’s.
I had an epic fight while I lvled my ele, getting a skill point at Straights of Devastation with another Engineer who had some trouble soloing the veteran that was guarding the spot along with extra mobs.
I dropped the FGS and we both charged in, needless to say, I wish I frapsed the whole fight.
What does bug me however is the sfx issues :/
By the way, for anyone dismissing the FGS as bad design for elite – try seeing it as extention of your attunements rather than a standalone weapon that you must keep for the whole duration. Considering elites shouldn’t last that long to begin with, use it at the right situations. (for example, skill 4 deals great damage and can perma-cripple your foe if used in succession after cd is off).
Considering twilight as example at 444g:
Would take 44.4 hours at solid 20g per 2h.
Stretching to same amount per 2.5h would be 55.5 hours
While I completely agree with this topic.
Just wanted to say that there are ways make a lot more money / 1hour.
I for one, make over 20g within 2h+ every day without messing with the TP.
Working on your alts is one good example, since this game serves no purpose for 1 main character to begin with. That said, Legendaries should remain as their name imply, but not at such grand cost. perhaps a 1/4th or 1/3rd cut of the total price will do.
Plenty of solutions have been suggested to obtain a precursor weapon… I’ve read that Anet are addressing this issue in upcoming update so we’ll see how this goes.how do you make 20g per 2/hrs…
The market is bad enough as it is for all of us.
Please understand my decision not to share this kind of info…
But it is very possible and not something grand, any person can do it once all conditions are met.
While I completely agree with this topic.

It’s a problem…
Get a unique weapon now and pay the price of tons of hours sacrifice.
Or wait until an update will drop the req. , while at the same time everyone will start obtaining it. Making it less unique and more available.
Fair enough, I understand my suggestion isn’t accepted.
However… I do feel that an alternative way of obtaining a soul bounded precursor should exist. If only for once per account even.
There’s already gift of Mastery that involves Karma, SP, Badges, and world completion – I love that idea but sadly it is only 1/4th of the progress, while the rest is pure gold grinding.
Precursor is a standalone weapon that unlike the rest of the requirements can be bounded to the player’s account and granted for achieving certain tasks.
The “fragments” is a start imo, that will involve global game progress and not grind specific such as “earn Z SP, earn Y karma, earn X badges”
Only 1.
I see no point for more atm.Come back when you have a few more and then tell me how awesome it was to get it.
With 8 maxed out alts, and 2 on the way.
Loved every moment.
Also, I didn’t mention map completion…
Now, all I wanted was yes / no, better related suggestion.
Only 1.
